Both Suzuki’s GSX-S and GSX-R125 machines are available with £500 off the RRP from now until the end of June, while the Burgman 400 is available with a complimentary two-year service plan. As a result, the GSX-S125 street bike costs £4,199, with its racier sibling costing £4,499. Both bikes produce an L-plate-friendly 15PS to adhere to UK and EU licence laws, but with a DOHC design the single-cylinder powerplant revs cleanly and freely to its top end. Allied to a featherweight chassis – the GSX-S weighs just 135kg, wet – both bikes are sporty and agile, as well as being easy to manage. Suzuki’s easy-start system features on both, and a neat LCD dash displays all the information the rider requires, while the GSX-R125 also uses a keyless ignition system.
The smart commuter choice for the discerning rider, buyers of a new Burgman 400 will benefit from free servicing for two years. Aprilia SXR 125 vs Suzuki Burgman Street 125 Comparison
The battle for supremacy in the 125cc scooter segment is intense in the dynamic world of two-wheelers. The Aprilia SXR 125 and the Burgman Street are prominent contenders. Both scooters offer a unique blend of style, performance, and practicality, making them appealing options for urban commuters. Let's dive into a detailed comparison to help you determine which one emerges as the better choice.
Design and Styling:
The XR 125 flaunts a distinctive, sporty design language that sets it apart. Its sculpted bodywork, sharp lines, and sleek silhouette exude Italian flair. In contrast, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 adopts a more traditional maxi-scooter design with a larger, more imposing presence. Both scooters offer a premium feel, but the SXR 125's aggressive styling may appeal to a younger, more style-conscious audience.
Engine and Performance:
Under the hood, the SXR 125 packs a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 3-valve, SOHC engine that churns out 9.48 bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 9.2 Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. On the other hand, the Burgman Street is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine that produces 8.58 bhp of power at 6,750rpm and 10 Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.
While the SXR 125 boasts a slightly higher power output, the Burgman Street's engine delivers a more linear and responsive power delivery, making it feel peppy and agile in city traffic. Burgman Street also claims a superior mileage of 48 km/l compared to the SXR 125's 40 km/l, giving it an edge in fuel efficiency.
Ride and Handling:
The two scooters offer distinct riding experiences. The SXR 125's sporty nature and lightweight design make it more nimble and engaging to handle, especially around tight corners and crowded city streets. The Burgman Street, however, provides a more stable and comfortable ride thanks to its larger dimensions and longer wheelbase.
Both scooters have telescopic forks at the front and a rear mono-shock suspension, ensuring a relatively plush and composed ride quality. The SXR 125 benefits from its larger 12-inch front and 11-inch rear wheels, contributing to its agile handling, while the Burgman Street's 12-inch wheels provide a more balanced and stable ride.
Features:
In terms of features, the SXR 125 and Suzuki Burgman Street 125 offer a comprehensive package. The SXR 125 boasts a full-LED lighting system, a digital instrument cluster, and a USB charging port, catering to the needs of tech-savvy riders. On the other hand, the Burgman Street comes equipped with a larger 41-liter under-seat storage compartment, a more practical front glove box, and a side-stand indicator, making it a more practical choice for daily commuting.
Pricing and Value Proposition:
When it comes to pricing, the SXR 125 commands a premium over Burgman Street. The Aprilia SXR 125 price starts at Rs. 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Burgman Street is priced at Rs. 94,000 (ex-showroom). This significant price difference may steer some buyers towards the more affordable Burgman Street, especially if the additional features and sportiness of the SXR 125 are not their primary considerations.
Conclusion:
Choosing between the Aprilia scooty in India and Burgman Street ultimately boils down to personal preferences and priorities. If you're seeking a more stylish and engaging riding experience, the SXR 125 may be the better option with its sporty design and performance-oriented character. However, Burgman Street could be the most suitable if you prioritize practicality, comfort, and fuel efficiency.
Ultimately, both scooters offer a solid package in the 125cc segment, catering to the diverse needs of urban commuters. The decision will depend on your specific requirements, budget, and the overall appeal of each scooter to you as an individual after you compare scooters in India.

The Best Two-Wheelers for Senior Citizens
Among the various types of personal transport out there, a two-wheeler, no doubt, is rather convenient and affordable. In India, anyone who is aged 18 or above and has a valid driving license can drive a two-wheeler, be it a motorcycle or a scooter. But, a motorcycle is relatively tricky to learn and handle, and therefore, many people prefer a scooter instead.
Scooters are for everyone! Much popular among the young and old alike, especially, the elderly or the senior citizens love them because they provide them with unmatched convenience and sense of control and safety. It is much safer to drive a scooter through the hustle-bustle of heavy traffic and crowded markets. Most importantly, they can enjoy their self-reliance and go anywhere, anytime, without having to ask others to take them.
Another good thing about scooters is that they are high on mileage and require low maintenance. Even if you use them every day, you need not worry about hefty fuel bills and maintenance costs. However, it’s always good to have two-wheeler insurance to get covered for any unwarranted expenses on account of unfortunate events like accident, theft, etc.
Every penny matters! And it matters more when you are a senior citizen because you must use your hard money wisely to ensure your financial well-being throughout your golden years.
So, if you are a ‘Senior Citizen’ and searching for a suitable two-wheeler (scooter) for yourselves, here is a lowdown of some good options to choose from:
Honda Dio

Honda Dio is fitted with a 109.5 CC four-stroke engine. The engine is fan-cooled, so you do not have to worry about overheating. The engine is connected to a V-Matic transmission system. The Honda Dio can generate a 7.65 BHP of power and is capable of 9 Nm torque.
Honda Activa 125
The Honda Activa 125 is one of the most popular two-wheelers in India. This model comes with an underseat storage capacity of 18 litres. Even after a few years of use, this scooter can deliver a mileage of around 50-55kmpl (kilometres per litre). This is reckoned as one of the highest mileages of scooters in the same price range, notably.
The Honda Activa 125 is especially suitable for senior citizens. The seat is comfortable to use even for prolonged periods. You also have the option of getting a mobile charger socket in this scooter. This socket will allow you to conveniently charge your smartphone while you are on the move or in a rush.
Hero Pleasure
Hero Pleasure is a light-weight two-wheeler that is convenient to use. The low weight of the scooter makes it ideal for senior citizens. It also has a compact design which makes it easy to park and store. This scooter also comes with a high amount of storage capacity. You will not have any storage complaints while using this scooter.

Some Safety Tips for Senior Citizens
While two-wheelers are a convenient and easy mode of transport, senior citizens should be mindful of a few basic things for their safety.
For instance, it is important to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road. Do not try to overtake a vehicle if there is not enough space. You should always be cautious and follow all traffic rules. The traffic rules are meant for our safety. Do not suddenly brake your bike or make a sudden turn without indicating. Remember that a vehicle does not stop as soon as a brake is pressed. Give your vehicle some time before it comes to a halt. Also, carry all important documents like driving license, registration copy and insurance papers of the vehicle with you. Even for an old vehicle, don’t forget to renew two-wheeler insurance to avoid a policy lapse.
Conclusion
Two-wheelers are a great option for senior citizens who want to travel in their vehicle. They are much more affordable and comfortable for them than other means of conveyance, including public transport, which often is inadequate or not a practical option for many.
The scooters mentioned above are all suitable for senior citizens. Do consider your specific needs before arriving at a final decision, however.
And lest you forget, while buying a new two-wheeler, you must also purchase two-wheeler insurance along with it. In case you already have one, remember to renew two-wheeler insurance from time to time. You may consider comprehensive policy since it gives a broader coverage in addition to mandatory third party cover benefits.
