Why was Buffy given such a terrible HD remaster?

I will not stand for this, I do get the sneaking suspicion that the HD remaster is used on Disney+. It was chock full of missing special effects, the lighting is all off and also due to the aspect ratio being all stretched out to hell, (or rather 16:9, where the original is in a 4:3 aspect ratio for televisions of that time).

It's way too distracting when I'm watching a scene that's quite obviously filmed in the day but has a night filter over it to make it look as if it is in the nighttime. Making the scenes where Buffy should be sleeping look less like she's taking a nap in the afternoon. Oh, also, shouldn't Angel be a pile of dust if a beam of sun hits his face?

You can't buy the remaster anymore, but nothing is stopping streaming services from using the abomination of a remaster.

There's a fantastic video by @thepassionofthenerd that goes into detail about what made the remaster so bad. If Star Trek: TOS/TNG can get a brilliant remaster, then why doesn't Buffy?
