No because the scene where Dazai gets tainted hurts so much to watch. Having your own work dragged not only to your face but in front of your friends.

By the man you admire the most (I’m aware of the twist but even then it’s still part of him.)

The fact none of Dazai’s friends said anything either, just sat and watched is even worse. They just watch him get humiliated and ridiculed.

Chuuya of all people is the one to tell Akutagawa to knock it off. Honestly he should’ve been allowed to dive for that alone at least he tried.

Like what comes next with the book is also tragic but this, this is one of the saddest moments in the show for me.

The way Dazai just pleads with Akutagawa not go do with this, that he wrote this book with him in mind. The jokester facade is gone showing how hurt and upset he truly he is.

And Akutagawa just regards him coldly and throw the book at his feet.

Brutal.

Big fan of time period fantasy media having characters fight with knives or swords and this is the regular, established canon, and then another character just pulls out a gun. No hesitation. Just starts shooting. Funniest trope out there
