Wholesome prompt: sonic teaching tails how to play guitar?
word count-971
ao3 link
------------------
“Dude, this isn't rocket science.” Sonic said, laughing at the confused look on his brother's face as he repositioned the younger’s fingers again.
“Of course not. Rocket science is easier than this.” Tails grumbled, shifting to sit in a more comfortable position.
“You're being dramatic.” The hedgehog rolled his eyes before plucking the same three cords again to remind the kid of the melody. “It's not hard. It shouldn't even hurt, your fingers are destroyed.”
“It doesn't hurt.” The fox mumbled, pulling at the first string. He frowned at the guitar, “Even if it did, that's not the problem.”
“Then what is?” Sonic asked, gently placing his paw to cut off the noise. The younger seemed to shrink into himself at the fact his hero's attention was now fully on him.
Tails debated with himself on whether he should talk about his concerns. He ended up deciding against it and gave the guitar back to its owner. “Nothing.”
“If it's nothing then why are you giving my guitar back?” Sonic asked, raising a brow as he nudged the instrument back towards the other.
“Don't worry about it. It's not a big deal.” The kit said, setting the guitar in his brother's lap before standing up. “I should get back to working on the weapon upgrades for the Cyclone anyway. I still—” He was cut off by his own yip when his wrist was grabbed and pulled, landing him right in the hedgehog’s lap.
“Not today, kiddo.” Sonic shook his head as his arms banded around the fox's middle, the guitar laying on the floor of the workshop beside them. “I won't force you to learn it, you know that, but you seemed excited about it when you asked me to teach you. What's going on?”
Tails groaned at the tone of the older’s voice. He leaned his head back against the teens shoulder, “It's stupid.” He grumbled, “Seriously, I–”
“What did we talk about with that?” The kit bit his lip at that and started to fidget with his fingers. The older sighed, one of his paws gently taking the younger’s two to stop him, “If it's bothering you, it isn't stupid. Not to me.”
Tails stared at the paw atop of his own for a few quiet seconds as he argued with his own brain. He knew he wasn't winning this fight, so might as well let it play out. “I play the violin.”
“..Okay?” Sonic hesitated to answer, not having expected that. “What about it?”
“I looked it up. It's easier to learn guitar than to learn violin.” The kit explained, letting one of his tails drape across his lap as the other wrapped around the hedgehog. “And yet I keep screwing up the basics that I already know from violin.”
Sonic thought on it for a minute, his eyes trailing around the room before they landed on a cupboard. “Maybe we need to treat you like a true beginner, then.” He said, setting the fox on the ground before running to the cupboard to search through it.
“But I'm not a full beginner.” Tails said, his head tilting to the side in confusion as he watched the older, “Regardless, how are my mints going to help anything?”
“Just trust me, will ya?” The older grunted, pulling out a square package of some mint flavored gum. Tails wasn't crazy about gum, but he kept it so he'd have something to chew that wasn't his lip, tongue, or whatever writing utensil he used.
Tails’ confusion only grew once a stock of gum was presented to him, but he took it anyway, “What do you want me to do with this?”
“Give it a little kiss, Tails.” Sonic teased before rolling his eyes and poking the fox’s nose, “You never eat gum before? Chew it.”
“How does this help anything?” The kid asked as he unwrapped the gum, placing it in his mouth.
“The guy who introduced me to guitar said it helps.” The hedgehog shrugged and tossed the package over to the general area of where the cupboard was, earning an annoyed glare from his little brother.
He didn't pay attention to or though, already zipping off to dig in a new cabinet. He quickly emerged with a pair of headphones, running back over to his original spot and pulling the kid back onto his lap.
“Headphones?” Tails asked, not even bothering to fight against the older’s hold. “How–”
“You learn better when other people can't hear.” Sonic winked at him as he dug his phone out of his shoe, plugging in the headphones.
“How exactly do you plan on teaching if you can't hear when I mess up?” The fox mumbled, his ears twitching at the sound of him chewing the gum.
“Just trust me, kid.” The teen smiled as he turned on his music app, letting the songs shuffle as he handed the guitar back to the fox.
He gently positioned the kit’s finger again before playing the three cords again, resting his chin on the younger’s head.
Tails went to say something, but decided it'd be easier to simply not question his brother's antics. He went to pull the strings, a bit surprised he managed to copy the melody almost exactly. He was just a bit too slow.
He rolled his eyes when he felt the older squeeze him, knowing there was a grin on his face. “Yeah, yeah.” He mumbled despite knowing the hedgehog wouldn't hear him.
“See?” Sonic's voice was elevated now due to the music blasting in his ears, causing Tails’ ear to lower slightly, “Big bro knows best, keed.”
The fox rolled his eyes and elbowed the older in his ribs, but couldn't help the smile that grew when the hedgehog laughed at him.
He had the best, most annoying big brother ever.

I SMELL COLE FICS
Do you think i could get a drabble? I dont care what or how you write, I will take anything.
Hello hello hi!! I'll be honest, freedom with what to write can be incredibly nerve wrecking but i hope you enjoy this one! I struggled so much to decide on what exactly to write lmao,,,,
|| ᴅʀᴜᴍᴍᴇʀ ʙᴏʏ || ᴄᴏʟᴇ ʙʀᴏᴏᴋᴇꜱᴛᴏɴᴇ x ʀᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ ||
Your steps slow to a stop, looking up at the sign of the store you’re about to enter. You check your phone, comparing the name that your friend sent you.
Rockin’ Tunes
You shrug, accepting the name at face value before entering the store. The bell attached to the door jingles, attracting the attention of the only person inside.
You walk up to the store assistant who has his back turned to you, hesitant to disturb him when he’s restocking shelves.
“Excuse me…” You voice out shyly, only for your breath to hitch as soon as he turns around. Choppy ebony hair casts a faint shadow over his obsidian eyes, his sleeveless top showing off toned biceps. A thin chain decorates his neck, firm hands gripping a vinyl cover.
Yum.
You quickly snap out of your daze, almost drooling over the incredibly attractive boy in front of you. You blink a couple times, hand reaching up to subtly rub away any drool. The back of your hand brushes against bare skin. Good. There wasn’t any drool.
“Can I help you?” His brow is raised, waiting patiently for you to speak.
“Yeah, I came here to sign up for drum lessons. My friend Nya recommended this place, so I thought I’d check it out.” You try to lighten the atmosphere with a bright smile. A flicker of recognition crosses his face at the name you mention, his smile mirroring yours.
“You’re Nya’s friend? Nice to meet you. I’m Cole. If you’re interested in drum lessons, our only teacher is out of the country now, but I’d be happy to help.” He holds out his fist, and you grin, bumping it lightly with yours.
“I’m Y/n. That sounds good. Where do we start?”
Cole steps out from behind the counter, bicep brushing against your shoulder as he walks past you and towards the array of instruments in the back of the store. You gulp, following him.
Nya hadn’t told you that her friend was this attractive. You almost feel betrayed, looking down at your outfit and wishing you had dressed a little more nicely. He stops at a few drum sets that are a distance apart, and you eye the different types.
“So, do you know anything about drums?”
You pause, racking your brain for a good answer. “I know the basic boots-and-cats beatboxing.” You reply dumbly.
Oh my god.
Your cheeks burn, and you’re ready to hide in a corner from how his eyes shine in amusement, trying to force down a laugh.
“Okay, so you’re a basic beginner then.”
He sits at a drum set that looks nothing like the ones you see on TV. Everything is coloured black, cymbals made out of rubber. He grabs a pair of drumsticks that rest atop one of the drums in the set, giving it a twirl.
Suddenly, your face feels rather hot.
“So this is the first type of drum set beginners usually get. It’s an electronic drum kit, and it’s connected to a speaker and device that lets you change the sound to whatever you’d like. This is a snare, this is a kick drum, and this is a high hat. These are what you’ll be starting out with for a basic beat, or the ‘boots-and-cats’ beat you mentioned earlier.”
As soon as he pauses, he starts to play a beat with the three he had pointed at moments earlier, switching it up occasionally. You try to pay attention to the beat and how he manages to keep time; you really do.
But the way his arms flex as he plays the drums is incredibly distracting.
You tear your gaze away, nodding when his eyes meet yours to check if you’re following along.
“We can start with this. Sit down here.” He instructs, getting up and moving out of the way for you. You take a seat, taking the drumsticks that he passes you. You hesitate, unsure of where to begin as you attempt to copy his position from earlier.
“First, place your right foot on the pedal, and push down.”
You’re pleasantly surprised when you follow as he says, the kick drum producing a loud thump. You look up at him, eager for the next step.
Cole has to hide the amusement in his smile from the way your eyes gleam in excitement, pointing out the left pedal. “Place your foot there, and keep it down.”
You do so, surprised when the high-hats make a slight rattle before they still.
“This makes the sound tighter so that there’s less of an echo.” He explains, crossing his arms and answering your unasked question.
“Your posture’s too tight. You gotta relax. We have this rule in drumming: no chicken arms.” He mimics how your bent arms are almost perpendicular to your body, and you move them to rest at your sides with a sheepish smile.
He nods approvingly.
“One of the most important things is that your wrist has to be flexible. You can’t be too rigid, or it’ll start to hurt very quickly.”
You nod at his words, flexing your wrist and rotating it to loosen it up.
“We’ll start simple: use the pedal for the kick drum to follow me on this beat.” He starts to clap, acting as a metronome for you to follow along. You do so, paying close attention to the 1, 2, 3, 4 beats he’s giving you.
“Now that we got that down, I want you to use your right hand to hit the high hat with a different timing. The beat goes like this: one-ie and a two-ie and a three-ie and a four-ie.” He instructs, demonstrating quickly.
You take a deep breath, nodding and trying to follow his instructions. You wince when you accidentally hit the high-hat off timing, trying hard to coordinate your body to the different beats you play.
“Sorry,” You apologize. Cole's brows raise, surprised by the sudden apology.
“You don’t have to be sorry; you’re already doing great. Besides, it’s just your first lesson.” He chuckles. You flush, encouraged to try once more. You lift up your hands, ready to start.
“Uh-uh.” He tuts, reaching down and placing his hands on your raised elbows. You glance up, your eyes widening, when you register how close he is to you. “No chicken arms.” He chuckles, smiling warmly as he leans back.
You clear your throat, managing a nod before playing again with the high hats and kick drum. To your delight, you follow along much more easily than the first time, though there are a few off-beats here and there.
“Not bad,” Cole remarks thoughtfully. You grin, resting the drumsticks on the snare, reaching into the bag you had placed on the floor earlier for your water bottle.
“Thanks,” You reply with a simple smile, sipping your water.
“So, how do you know Nya anyway?” Cole grabs a stool, sits down next to you and leans back against the wall with a curious stare directed at you.
You hum in thought. “Well, I met her brother first at a book fair. I was in the romance aisle when I accidentally spilled a cup of coffee on his shirt.” You wince at the memory, Cole chuckling.
“I apologized so much and offered to wash his hoodie for him. But for some reason, he thought I was hitting on him. I wasn’t.” You deadpan, lips pursed. “Nya helped me scrub out the stain in the restroom, and I guess we’ve been friends ever since.”
“Sounds just like her and Kai.” Cole rolls his eyes playfully. “What about you? Why’d you start working here anyway?” You ask.
“I like music,” He replies simply. He takes a moment to think. “Not the customers, though.” He adds.
“Oh?” Now you’re intrigued.
“Earlier, this customer refused to listen to me explain the different types of guitar strings and just did his own thing even though he didn’t know what he was looking for.”
You snort in laughter, wincing at his words. “That sounds fun.” You say sarcastically.
“They ended up spending over a hundred dollars more than they needed. But hey, it’s their money, not mine.”
“On behalf of all customers, I apologize.” You joke, but his response makes your smile falter, heat blossoming on your cheeks instead as his eyes land on you.
“You’re okay, though.” He muses with a slight grin. He takes you in, almost as if he’s studying you. You feel a flush creep up your neck, fidgeting with the drumsticks you hold as you try to remain strong, refusing to look away from his calm gaze.
The bell jingles, and the both of you snap out of the daze you’re in. You sneakily fan your hot cheeks, and Cole clears his throat, standing up to greet the customer that walks in.
“Cole!” You hear a squeal, looking back up to see a girl dressed in a sparkly mini dress practically launch herself at him. He catches her by her shoulders, eyes wide in shock as the smile drops from his lips. He pushes her away gently, keeping the overexcited girl at arm's length.
“Kate.” He greets emotionlessly, all traces of humour and warmth from earlier now gone. His lips curve downwards into a subtle frown, but the girl doesn’t notice.
“You remembered my name!” She gasps, “See? We’re practically a couple already!” She doesn’t seem to notice your presence, eyes trained solely on Cole.
Her hands brush against his bare biceps, and he flinches away with a shudder. “Kate, I’m not going on a date with you. I’ve made that clear multiple times.”
“But you don’t have a girlfriend, so going on just one tiny date can't hurt.” She whines with a pout.
You wince at the dark expression on Cole’s face, racking your brain to come up with a way to help him with this persistent customer.
Oh. There was that one way you had seen your friend do once.
You stand up, place the drumsticks on the snare, and walk over to a frustrated Cole and whiny Kate.
“Babe,” You sidle up to his side, taking his hand in yours and sending her a nonchalant glance before ignoring Kate entirely, “What’s taking so long? You promised to teach me the drums.” You purse your lips, trying your best to appear like a clingy girlfriend.
He turns to you, surprised before he registers what you’re trying to do. The deep chuckle that comes next sends tingles down your spine, the warmth of his bare arm making you blush as he drapes it across your shoulder and pulls you close.
“I’m sorry, love. I’ll get back to you as soon as I finish helping this customer find the exit.” He replies, pointedly glancing at Kate who’s dumbfounded by your sudden appearance. You smile up at him and nod, walking back to the drum set and waiting patiently for him. He guides the speechless girl to the door, practically pushing her out.
He returns to the seat beside you with a relieved sigh. “Thanks back there. I’ve been trying to get rid of her for weeks, but she just wouldn’t take the hint, even after an outright rejection.”
“Anytime,” You grin, holding up the drumsticks. “Now, where were we?”

Head over wheels | S.H.
Summary: steve takes you roller skating for your first date
Pairing: steve harrington x fem!reader
Warnings: fluff, (minor) roller skating-related injury
Word count: 0.8k
Notes: written in celebration of steve's birthday <3
masterlist
~
Max had warned Steve that this was a bad idea. When he told the redhead that he wanted to take you to the roller rink for your first date, she told him straight-up that he was gonna fall on his face and make a fool of himself. But, he insisted that his ninja-like stealth would make rollerskating second nature.
It’s just walking but on wheels, how hard could it be?
Apparently very fucking hard.
You had already done a few laps by the time you get back around to Steve, who is about ten feet from the entrance to the rink and gripping the wall for dear life. The referee has been pointedly yelling that Everyone has to keep it moving! and Steve has been resisting the urge to rip the skates off his feet and chuck them at him. His face is flushed a rosy pink from a combination of embarrassment and exertion. He can’t help but cringe at how sweaty his hand is when you go to grab it.
“Are you sure you’re alright, Stevie?”
“Me? Pff, yeah it’s just been a while. Just getting my bearings, that's all.” The high-pitch of his voice gives away the fact that he’s definitely lying, but you don’t seem to mind and it makes him fall in love with you even more.
“Well then, I better hold your hand until you get your bearings then, yeah?” The sly smile that tugs at your lips as you interlace your fingers with his almost makes Steve forget how mortifying this whole situation is.
The two of you push forward at a snail’s pace. In the time it takes to travel another ten feet, he’s seen other couples complete revolutions around the rink. You don’t seem to mind. You’re still holding his hand and leaning into him as if you need the support, which he knows that you don’t. Before long, he’s so distracted by the light conversation between the two of you that he doesn’t have to think too hard about not falling.
Whether that previous thought is about roller skating or about you, he can’t really tell.
Out of the periphery of his vision, Steve can see a blur of limbs that’s coming straight for you. You’re distracted, looking over at him and giving him tips on how to distribute his weight. Instinctually, he wraps an arm around your waist and tugs you toward him just as the blur breezes past with a muttered ‘scuse me! thrown over their shoulder. Steve’s right arm flies behind him, hoping to somehow regain his sense of balance, but it’s already too late. It’s almost comical the way his skates fly out from under him as he lands on his left wrist with a sickening crack.
A whistle blows.
In any other situation, Steve would be really happy about the fact that you’re breathless and on top of him. He would use the opportunity to make some smooth comment, something along the lines of You should at least let me buy you dinner first. Unfortunately, all he can think about is the pain that’s radiating up his arm and the fact that he’s made a complete and utter fool of himself, just like Max said he would.
You clamber off of him, evidently unscathed by the absolute trainwreck this date has become. The music stops as everyone lines up against the walls, clearing the way for the referee who makes his way to Steve with a smug look and a first aid kit.
The snack bag of vending machine ice that you had so graciously gotten him is now mostly water. You’re simultaneously cooing over him and berating the asshole who decided to show off during a beginner’s skate session. The neon glow of the strobe lights paints the furrow of your brows a lovesick pink.
“This is a pretty lousy first date, huh?” Steve scratches the back of his neck. A nervous tick he can never seem to be rid of.
“Are you kidding?” You say, giving Steve an incredulous look. “You saved my life tonight. You’re practically my hero.”
Coming from anyone else, the words might sound ingenuine. Steve is used to sarcastic comments at his expense. He’s learned to take them in stride. But you’re not making fun of him. In fact, the earnestness in your voice gives him the confidence to lean across the table and plant a soft kiss on your lips.
“I guess you could say I literally fell for you.” Steve is already cringing before the words come out of his mouth. This time you really do laugh at him and he thinks he would make the joke a thousand times over if it meant he got to hear you laugh again.
Brushing a strand of hair away from his face, you bring your hand to cup his cheek.
“Maybe next time though, we can just go watch a movie?”
Sure, his pride is a little bruised and his wrist is going to hurt like hell tomorrow, but Steve can’t stop himself from being so incandescently happy that there is going to be a next time.

do you have any suggestions for making second life characters n models?
OKAY! So basically in terms of pricing it is much cheaper and more accessible to be a furry than a human in second life, usually with people you gotta hunt a bit more but I’ll list you some basics that I think are a good start. Here's a couple things I have off the top of my head, there is a TON of stuff out there on second life but here's the ones I use!
THIS WILL BE LONG SORRY. I REALLY LOVE RAMBLING ABOUT STORES YOU CAN USE IN SECOND LIFE I broke the links by spacing after the colon so if you want to copy and paste it just delete it! You know how tumblr gets with a lot of links LOL
FURRY STUFF:
If you want to be a pony, the Open Pony avatar is free and extremely customizable. You’ll start with only two basic mane and tail items and will probably have to spend some money if you want more stuff, which typically for the pony ranges from 200-600ish lindens depending on where you shop. This is about 3usd, but you can also customize the hair by selecting individual faces in the editor to get the colors and textures you desire.
MAJOR DOWNSIDE TO BEING A PONY THOUGH IS THAT THIS AVATAR WAS MADE BY *THOSE* KINDS OF BRONIES. THERE IS REALLY GROSS STUFF ON THE SECOND LIFE MARKETPLACE FOR THE PONY AVATAR :( USUALLY YOU CAN FILTER ADULT CONTENT BUT SECOND LIFE SEARCH ISN’T ALWAYS SO SEAMLESS. It is extremely unfortunate that this is like, the only up to date my little pony avatar we currently have on the marketplace but we make do, there are a lot of normal horse people out there it just is heinous if you go to my little pony sims.
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OP-OPEN-PONY-Basic-Pony-Avatar/22771877
Some of the free manes/tails/outfits/etc. I know currently exist are here:
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OpenPony-Shadowbolt-Suit/22790327
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/HMART-Summer-Dress/23599366
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/NX-Short-Bob-Mane-Add-Me/23761577
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OP-mesh-brows/24547847
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OP-I-LOVE-MOM-TATTOO/23808113
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/HMART-Izzy-Mane-Tail/22786915
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OP-rainbowshine-kit/24806876
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/NX-Rainbow-Bright-Mane-Add-Me/23671728
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OP-mail-set/24794285
For FURRY furries, like if you want to be an anthro animal, there is a lot of body mods out there for standard human avatar bodies (which I’ll get to in a moment) but for the most bang for your buck, I would recommend the SugarCult Regalia body. It is the easiest to customize if you ever look to wanting to make your own custom skin textures and is also modded a ton in the community so there is a load of content at the ready for it, the body link is here:
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Sugarcult-Project-Regalia/18217485
This one costs money, but it is pretty good for the price deal, you’ll get multiple body shapes that you can customize and tweak to your liking. When/if you want to shop for custom textures, make sure you look for ones that say are BOMR or BOMR compatible for the best results!
Really good beginner furry heads that have great animation quality and accessible prices are the Happy Paw heads! The link to the Happy Paw store is here:
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/175788 These heads often have a ton of textures made for them, and you also get a developer’s kit with the purchase of them! I use these heads a lot.
Another good store is Anima, though it recently disbanded. Their products are still available on the marketplace and are good if you want a less toony and more oddball looking furry, the prices are a bit higher but they are also pretty easy to custom make textures for too! And like Happy Paw, a lot of mods are available on the marketplace for them!
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/244580 Here’s the store link for Anima!
HUMAN/HUMAN ADJACENT STUFF:
You can still use the Regalia bodies for people, but Regalia tends to be more specialized by the community in furry texturing, so finding human skins will be harder if you don’t make your own. There are a LOT of human bodies to choose from, and usually I say the best thing to go with are the ones with a ton of mods for on the marketplace so it is easiest to shop. The ones I use are Belleza Jake and eBody Reborn.
Belleza Jake usually goes on sale pretty regularly while eBody is kind of a fancier body model and costs more LOL it is so pricey to be an up to date human model in second life. Ugh okay I’m like writing this whilst looking at the second life marketplace right now and for whatever reason I literally cannot find the belleza jake bodies. -_- I’ll keep you posted if I can find a link to it because that’s annoying idk why SL does this sometimes.
The body I use aside from jake is the eBody Reborn, and the downside to that is they only allow like, known store owners to get the texture kits from the eBody Reborn if you want to make it, for that you’ll just have to go to the eBody inworld store to get it LMAO it’s pretty pricey though, I got it because it is kind of on sale right now but it’s still probably about ~10usd. There is literally so many mods for it on the marketplace though. I use it because literally everyone and their dog has stuff on sale that’ll usually fit the ebody and it’s perfect if you want to have a billion fun outfits.
ANOTHER downside to the ebody is that the ass is so big, you have to find a good deformer that’ll fit it if you want to make a smaller body that doesn’t have a huge ass. Second Life creators are usually all insanely horny!
HEADS I KNOW OF AND/OR USE:
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/101160 Raven Bell is what I use for my people avatars, and here is the whole store since it also sells hair that usually is pretty good too! The heads are about 2,000L and more expensive than the furry body entirely though… but! I have wound up using it a ton to make other avatars. There’s an older model of head they have that they no longer support though since it’s old that still has more mods than their more recent stuff from other developers, hilariously enough. If you don’t care for all the fancy new animations you can go to their inworld store and get the old head.
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/210372 This store has two free anime styled heads that are better than most the anime heads you’ll run into on the marketplace purely because it’s free to use and there’s a texture and developer kit that comes with it. I think it was ripped directly from that pixiv free to use avatar? It’ll say it’s one linden on the marketplace but if you go to their inworld store you can get it free of charge.
Some hair stores that are typically unrigged and can fit most heads with minimal editing (just stretch/rotate/reposition to fit):
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/167897 This one has some genshin impact hairstyles LOL
https: //marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/68045 this one by far has a TON of random hairs that I use.
Overall, with human avatars it’s much more vast and hinges on what you’re looking to make. Let me know if you or anyone else has any further questions! I usually know a few stores off the bat that can fit specific looks people are going for haha

Day 24: Potted plant
“Anybody wants another slice?” Penny looked around at her friends sitting at the table but they all simply looked to the sides at each other. “Alright, then I think for now it’s over with the eating.” She put down the knife, letting it rest next to the few smaller pieces left of what used to be a birthday cake.
“So, what now?” Minka chimed in after having licked her plate clean. “Dancing? Partying? Gifts?!”
Penny chuckled softly. “I think that question should go to the birthday boy himself.” She turned to Sunil who had been wiping his mouth, a few crumbs falling onto his plate. Upon hearing his name, he raised his chin and looked between Minka and Penny.
“Hm?”
“What do you wanna do now, Sunil?” Minka bounced in her seat.
“Right…” Sunil looked around carefully, his eyes scanning everything in sight until their gaze stopped on the gifts’ pile waiting in the corner. “Let’s go with the gifts.”
“Great choice,” Zoe agreed. “Not to brag, but my gift will definitely be the best, go on, darling.” She waved at Sunil who started moving the decorative bags closer to the table.
“Remember, Sunil, no peeking,” Russell reminded with a grin.
Meanwhile, Pepper mumbled under her breath yet still loud enough for everyone to hear,
“Right, not bragging at all.”
In that time, Sunil brought all the gifts around the armchair where he now claimed his spot. His friends turned in their seats to have him directly in their line of sight and observed closely as Sunil reached out his hand, but it lingered over every bag it went for.
“Come on, Sunil, just choose one, you need to start with something.” Sunil rolled his eyes half-heartedly at Vinnie’s hurry but did promptly grab the bag closest to him which earned a clap of approval from Zoe.
“Wonderful choice.”
Now allowed to check his present, Sunil reached his hand inside the bag and pulled out… a sweater? He unfolded it and inspected from all sides, all while keeping in mind Zoe’s eyes sparkling in the background. The sweater looked way too familiar. Sunil eyed the attire he was wearing and then his gift once more.
“Um… thank you, Zoe, but… isn’t this the exact same garment I’m wearing right now? I have to say, it’s astonishing that you found the exact same thing, but-.”
“Oh, please.” Zoe stood up and walked up to Sunil with everyone’s eyes on her. “That’s not the case at all. You see,” She took a hold of the new sweater’s sleeve, “I know how much you like that sweater of yours, so I went to this very famous designer I have worked with before and asked her to make it, but better, and she did, look.” She grabbed Sunil’s wrist and made his palm slide down the sleeve.
“Huh.” Now that Sunil was really focused on the tactile sensation, he could feel the difference. “It’s so unusually soft.”
“I know, right? Just wait until you put it on, then you will really see what I mean. No need to thank me.” But she did smile proudly when Sunil reiterated his gratitude.
After putting Zoe’s gift aside for now, Sunil moved on to the ones still waiting for him. A small beginners painting kit from Minka - so he can “learn how painting really works”, a book about some older yet forgotten magic tricks from Russell, of course, and a collage of all his “best” pictures as Pepper put it, though to Sunil they were clearly just pictures that didn’t work out for him - group pictures where he specifically had his eyes closed or Pepper’s selfies with him turned away behind her, not knowing about any pictures being taken.
“Really, Pepper?” He raised his brow at her.
“You’re welcome.” She gave him two thumbs up.
“Right. Thank you, I think.”
There were only two gifts left. Sunil reached for one and brought it closer to himself. He grabbed the bag’s edges and widened the opening, eager to see what awaited him inside.
“Let’s see, what do we…” His voice trailed off in the same moment as his eyes widened, all his movements stilling.
“Sunil-?”
“AAAH!” He yelled, dropped the bag, and curled up as far as he could on the armchair. “Vinnie,” He looked up at his best friend with an accusatory gaze, “why on Earth would you think a venus fly trap is a right gift, let alone for me?”
“Wha- me?” Vinnie straightened up on his chair.
“Yes!”
“It’s not from me!” He defended himself quickly. “I swear, I gave you those headphones you were eyeing that one time, they’re there.” He nodded towards the other bag which Sunil grabbed and checked the inside slowly. Headphones.
In this case there was one option left, however, it was not a logical one at all.
Sunil turned to the person who was now everyone’s center of attention.
“Um, tada!” Penny did jazz hands while staring at the floor, her cheeks adorned by a heavy blush. “Surprise…!”
“I… why?” Russell was the first to find his voice back.
“No, hear me out, it makes sense, here.” Penny scrambled to her feet taking her place next to Sunil who remained avoiding her gift. She however reached inside the knocked over bag and brought out the potted plant. “Venus fly traps eat insects and arachnids, you know? Bug!” She addressed Sunil who nodded slowly. “And you’re afraid of bugs, yes?”
“...A little bit.”
“Sooo, having one in your house would be useful.” Penny positively beamed. “I mean, I’m not saying it will make that big of a difference, but it might do some.”
“Alright, I see your point…” Sunil started slowly, but while still keeping his distance from the plant. “It’s unusual yet weirdly thoughtful, b-but still, what if it bites me? It still needs watering, right? So, I will have to get close to it.” He gulped.
“I did my research, the little things rarely bite when it’s not their designed food, but even if they do, it doesn’t hurt one bit, look.” Before anyone could react, Penny brought her finger closer to the plant and wiggled it near its mouth which closed on the finger after a while, but she didn’t even flinch. “See?” She easily freed her finger, not even a bite mark lingering on it.
“So cool!” Minka gasped. “Can I try?”
“Oh, me too!” Vinnie waved his hand at Penny who smiled at them.
“Maybe in a second. So, Sunil, what do you think? I know it’s an unusual gift, but…” She looked down at the floor again, however for only a second because Sunil’s response was exactly what she was hoping for.
“You’re not wrong, but as I stated, it’s weirdly thoughtful.” He flinched when Penny brought the plant closer to him but after a moment of hesitation willed himself into holding the pot, though still at a safe distance. “I think I will place it somewhere where I’m most often, so my room most likely, maybe it will really help me sometimes.” Sunil placed the plant carefully on the floor for now and gave Penny a hug who happily accepted, almost picking him up with the sheer strength of her embrace.
“Woah!”
While those two were busy, Vinnie leaned towards Pepper.
“You know, I really was hoping those headphones were gonna sweep Sunil off his feet, but now I’m pretty sure that this venus fly trap has overshadowed them completely.”
“No kidding,” Pepper replied while eyeing Penny who now literally swept Sunil off his feet. And almost suffocated him in her hug.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so maybe this is my most random idea yet.
Why be a wallflower when you can be a Venus fly traaap? Marina stuff yet again.

5 Important Makeup Brushes Every Makeup Artist Should Carry in Their Kit
As a professional makeup artist, having the right tools is just as important as having the right products. Your makeup brushes are the foundation of a flawless look, and whether you're working on a bride, a model, or creating editorial looks, having the right set of brushes can make all the difference. With so many brushes on the market, it can be overwhelming to know which ones are essential for your kit. Here's a guide to the top 5 makeup brushes that every makeup artist should carry, with expert recommendations from Jawed Habib Academy, Laxmi Nagar Delhi (9266610366).
1. Foundation Brush A foundation brush is an essential tool in any makeup kit. It can be a flat, dense brush or a pointed brush, both of which help apply liquid or cream foundation smoothly for an even and flawless finish. This allows you to blend the foundation evenly into the skin, creating a perfect canvas for the rest of your makeup. It is important to use a brush made of synthetic fibers, as they work better with liquid products and offer better precision.
2. Powder Brush After applying foundation, it is essential to set it with a good setting powder for long-lasting wear. A large fluffy powder brush is ideal for evenly applying powder or bronzer. The soft bristles help the product spread smoothly across the face, without disrupting the base makeup. Opt for a high-quality powder brush with soft bristles to achieve a light and natural look.
3. Blending Eyeshadow Brush A blending brush is crucial for eye makeup. This soft, tapered brush allows for easy blending of color on the crease and lid, creating a professional and diffused look. It can be used with both matte and shimmer shades, making it a versatile tool for any makeup artist. Whether you're going for a soft smoky eye or a bold crease, a blending brush will provide a smooth transition between colors.
4. Angled Brow or Eyeliner Brush An angled eyebrow brush is an essential tool for creating sharp lines with precision. It is perfect for filling in brows with powder or pomade as well as creating precise winged eyeliner with gel or cream products. This brush allows for controlled and neat application, ensuring that brows and eyeliner are always well aligned.
5. Blush/Contour Brush A blush or contour brush is essential for adding definition and warmth to the face. This medium-sized, angled or rounded brush is perfect for precise application of blush, contour, or highlight. It helps sculpt and define the face, giving it dimension and a healthy glow. To achieve the best results, choose a soft but dense brush that can pick up and blend pigmented powders without leaving streaks.

Building Your Perfect Makeup Kit: Essential Items for a Flawless Start
Makeup kits are a handy collection of makeup products that an individual requires to get their desired look. These kits are extremely helpful when you don’t have the luxury of applying makeup from the comfort of your house. Carry a small personalised kit in your bag and you are all set to rock your look. You can create makeup kits by combining products from your favourite brands or by purchasing ready-made makeup kits.
With so many products on the market (both online and offline), assembling a beginner's beauty kit can be confusing and intimidating. In this blog, we’ll walk you through the products that are necessary in a makeup kit, which can help you get started on the path of being a beauty expert.
9 Must have Products in your Makeup Kit
A complete makeup kit can be divided into four categories:
Lip makeup
Eye makeup
Facial makeup
1. Lip Makeup
Lipstick or Lipgloss: Lipstick is one of the most popular makeup accessories ever made. Even if you don’t have five to six different makeup products, a simple application of lipstick can make all the difference. Buy a shade that complements your skin colour.
Lip Liner: A lip liner is used to outline the lips, which helps lipstick not bleed outside the lip area. For best results, use lip liner in a darker shade compared to lipstick.
2. Eye Makeup
Mascara: Our eyes are one of the most beautiful parts of our body, and the application of mascara makes them more enchanting. It makes the lashes longer, thicker, and more defined, giving your eye an intense look.
Eyeliner: An eyeliner is used to define your eyes. According to your preference and creativity, you can opt for black eyeliner or coloured eyeliner. You can choose black eyeliner for everyday use or during formal occasions, while coloured eyeliners can be used to create a party look.
Eyeshadow Palette: An eyeshadow palette has a collection of various items grouped together, which you can use according to your outfit and overall look. Look for palettes that can easily transition you from day to night with a variety of matte and shimmer tones.
3. Facial Makeup
Foundation: A good foundation from a reputed brand can act both as a makeup product and as skincare. It gives skin an even tone, covers blemishes and redness, and much-needed hydration. You can use a foundation brush or damp sponge for getting a good coverage. A foundation sets the stage for applying other makeup products.
Highlighter: A highlighter is a type of makeup that draws attention to specific characteristics on the face, giving it more glow and dimension. It is usually applied to the cheekbones, brow bones, nose bridge, and cupid's bow—areas of the face where light naturally hits. You can buy highlighters in powdered or cream form based on your skin type.
Blush: Blush is applied to the cheeks to add a hint of warmth and a natural-looking flush to the face. Blushes are available in powder, liquid, and cream form; buy one that suits your skin type and colour.
Setting Spray: A professional makeup kit must always, always have a setting spray. It is the last product to be used in a makeup routine which ensures that your makeup stays intact for a longer period of time.
All these products are a must-have in amakeup combo set. They include a variety of shades and finishes to create endless looks, perfect for any occasion. Plus, the high-quality formulas ensure long-lasting wear and professional results.

5 Easy Steps to Flawless Brows with an Eyebrow Palette (Even for Beginners!)
Are you tired of unruly eyebrows that just won't cooperate? Achieving picture-perfect eyebrows can immediately improve the way you look overall by framing your face and highlighting your inherent attractiveness. Not only does it improve attractiveness but also improves facial symmetry and facial framing, giving you a more polished appearance.
Using an eyebrow palette is one of the best ways to achieve picture-perfect eyebrows, even for a beginner. While it can be an intimidating process, some practice will help you slowly achieve gorgeous brows. In this blog, we will go over five simple steps that will help you achieve perfect brows using an eyebrow palette.
Step 1: Select the Proper Color Scheme
Your first step is to choose the right eyebrow palette. You must consider factors like ingredients, brand, price, and reviews. Along with all these factors, choose a palette or eyebrow kit with multiple shades that complement your hair color and makeup tools like brushes, spoolies, and tweezers. Choosing a palette that combines waxes and powders will let you tailor the look of your brows to your own tastes.
Step 2: Arrange Your Eyebrows
Once you have chosen your ideal color for your eyebrow palette, your next step is prep. The application has to wait some more time. To ensure that your brow hairs are sitting flat and to eliminate any product buildup, start by going through your brows with a spoolie brush. Next, tidy up the edges of your brows and give them a defined contour with a tiny dab of concealer or primer. For the second step, you can buy Colorbar’s ‘Flawless Full Cover Concealer’. The concealer is available in five different shades.
Step 3: Complete Any Gaps
Finally, you can start using the eyebrow powder and wax from your palette on any sparse parts of your brows with an angled brush. Start with less. When it comes to any makeup product, less is always more. You can gradually add more unless you get your desired look. To resemble the natural growth of your brows, concentrate on making short, hair-like strokes. Pay close attention to the arch and tail for better definition.
Step 4: Define and Shape
After filling in your brows, clarify the form and add dimension using a slightly darker shade from your palette. For a gradient appearance, concentrate the darker shade on the outside corners of your brows and mix it in toward the center. Use a clean finger or spoolie brush to smooth any edges, and blend carefully to eliminate any harsh lines.
Step 5: Complete and Set
Set your perfectly styled brows with a clear or tinted brow gel from your palette to make sure they remain in place all day. This will provide a little sheen for a polished finish and help hold in the color and form of your brows. Using the brow gel wand, gently run it through your brows to spread the product evenly and smooth out any straggling hairs.
Conclusion
These 5 steps will ensure you get perfect brows, even if you are a beginner. Remember, mastering the technique may take some time, but practice makes perfect, so don't be discouraged. With patience and dedication, you'll soon be rocking flawless brows that will leave everyone impressed. So, grab your favorite eyebrow palette and start creating your perfect brow look today!
If you are confused about which eyebrow palette is best for you, do give Colorbar’s Browful a try. This eyebrow makeup kit comes with powder and eyebrow wax, which will help with shaping, sculpting, and filling your eyebrows, giving them a much-needed volume. Along with this palette, you must also explore Colorbar’s eye makeup product range, like their eye liner, mascara, kajal, eye shadow, and more that can complement your well groomed brows. Visit their website to learn more about their services.
