First Reading
Genesis 3:9-24
But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”He said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.”Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”The Lord God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,     cursed are you among all animals     and among all wild creatures; upon your belly you shall go,     and dust you shall eat     all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman,     and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head,     and you will strike his heel.”
To the woman he said,
“I will greatly increase your pangs in childbearing;     in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband,     and he shall rule over you.”
And to the man he said,
“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife,     and have eaten of the tree about which I commanded you,     ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you;     in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;     and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face     you shall eat bread until you return to the ground,     for out of it you were taken; you are dust,     and to dust you shall return.”
The man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all living. And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them.
Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.
Psalm
Psalm 90:2, 3-4abc, 5-6, 12-13
Before the mountains were brought forth,     or ever you had formed the earth and the world,     from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You turn us back to dust,     and say, “Turn back, you mortals.” For a thousand years in your sight     are like yesterday when it is past,     or like a watch in the night. You sweep them away; they are like a dream,     like grass that is renewed in the morning; in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;     in the evening it fades and withers. So teach us to count our days     that we may gain a wise heart. Turn, O Lord! How long?     Have compassion on your servants!
Gospel Reading
Mark 8:1-10
In those days when there was again a great crowd without anything to eat, he called his disciples and said to them,“I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way—and some of them have come from a great distance.”His disciples replied, “How can one feed these people with bread here in the desert?”He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.”Then he ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd. They had also a few small fish; and after blessing them, he ordered that these too should be distributed. They ate and were filled; and they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. Now there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away. And immediately he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.
Reflection
Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus feeds the crowd of four thousand, which is a wonderful biblical illustration of what I have often called the loop of grace.
The constant command of the Bible is this: what you have received as a gift, give as a gift—and you will find the original gift multiplied and enhanced. God’s grace, precisely because it is grace, cannot be held on to; rather, it is had only in the measure that it remains grace—that is to say, a gift given away. God’s life, in a word, is had only on the fly. One realizes this truth when one enters willingly into the loop of grace, giving away that which one is receiving.
At the outset of the story, the disciples refuse to serve the crowd, preferring to send them away to the neighboring towns to fend for themselves. At the climax of the narrative, the disciples become themselves the instruments of nourishment, setting the loaves and fishes before the people. Within the loop of grace, they discover their mission and are themselves enhanced, transfigured.

Almost a month after HP Kinktober ended, I have finally created a complete masterlist of the wonderful Drarry works we were gifted with from this astoundingly creative community. Since I am only human, please let me know if anything is wrong with this post (broken link, mispelled author name, etc).
Day 1: Foreplay
Love Me Like Red Wine by @triggerlil (M, 290)
Harry prepares a meal, but Draco can't focus on the food. It's not his fault that Harry's so damn attractive.
Foreplay by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
In which Draco wears sky-blue, lacy bikini knickers.
Kiss Him All the Way Up by @chuckweasley (M, Digital Art)
Is Harry into feet? Does he want to kiss Draco on every square inch of his body? Is he kissing a trail from his toes up? You decide!
Water Spirit by @laurisophi (E, 703)
Harry wants to surprise Draco for their anniversary and show more of himself.
"You look like a lake spirit, bath by the moon, covered in green.” He kisses your shoulder and one hand slides over your back, your side, your hip.
A ficlet for the first day of HP Kinktober 2020: foreplay.
Day 2: Instant Darkness Powder
Under the Cover of Darkness by @manixzen (M, 2k)
Thanks to Pansy, Draco's stuck at a party with a whole bunch of drunk Gryffindors. And now they want to play party games. If only Draco can slip out unnoticed before this gets any worse.
Instant Darkness Powder by @ladderofyears (M, 116)
Auror Partners Harry and Draco are trapped in the dark. Flirting ensues.
A Smoke Afterwards by @chuckweasley (M, Digital Art)
I wonder who’s holding the lighter...
Day 3: Polyjuice
Prompt: Polyjuice by blackswingsblackwords (T, 349)
In which there is (supposed to be) roleplaying.
Polyjuice by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Harry takes Polyjuice Potion so Draco can fuck himself.
Polyjuice by CuriousEmWanders (E, 985)
In which Draco lets his curiosity and obsession get the best of him. He just needs to know what Harry looks like. How else is he supposed to find out?
Day 4: Amortentia
Occupational Hazard by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Potions Master Draco has been brewing Amortentia.
Prompt: Amortentia by blackwingsblackwords (T, 463)
In which there is a secret relationship.
Smells Like You by CuriousEmWanders (E, 3.1k)
Draco may not smell anything in his Amortentia, but that doesn't stop him from taking it to help him submit to his Dom de jour.
Day 5: Spell Play
A Magic Number of Orgasms @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Harry and Draco experiment with a sex spell.
Just Let Go by @manixzen (E, 3.4k)
Draco struggles with letting go of his need for control, both at work and at home. Harry can help.
Prompt: Spell Play by blackwingsblackwords (T, 1.1k)
In which an exhausted dad dates a smitten hero.
Day 6: Parseltongue
Lucky Bloody Serpent by @ladderofyears (G, 100)
When Harry gets a pet snake, Draco gets (a tiny bit) jealous.
a simple thank you can go a long way by @crimsonhead-ache (E, 2.7k)
The one where Draco needs to thank him and Harry allows him.
Also Parseltongue.
And dicks.
Draco’s Favorite Thing by CuriousEmWanders (E, 1.2k)
Draco has a thing for when Harry talks to him in parseltongue, and he's glad Harry doesn't know. Or does he?
The Hottest Parselmouth by @chuckweasley (T, Digital Art)
Draco cannot handle how hot Harry is when he’s speaking parseltongue, even though he has no idea what Harry’s saying.
Day 7: Creature!Fic
I’ll Huff, And I’ll Puff, And I’ll Blow Your House In... by @ladderofyears (M, 100)
There’s a Werewolf on the loose and he’s out to get Draco!
Thirst by @fluxweeed (E, 4.4k)
The path of Malfoy’s scent is obvious; Harry hasn’t fed for days, so his senses are sharp. Deadly.
And Malfoy smells so good.
Day 8: Imperius
Imperius by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Harry and Draco are put under the Imperius Curse.
Non-con warning
Day 9: Legilimency
Legilimens by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Draco shares his sexual fantasies with his lover Harry.
Day 10: Dark Magic Ritual
Reanimation Ritual by @ladderofyears (M, 100)
Draco performs a Dark Magic ritual to bring his dead lover Harry back to him.
A Moment of Intent by @manixzen (E, 4.6k)
Auror Harry Potter and Curse Breaker Draco Malfoy are on another case, this time a Dark Arts Ritual gone wrong. Surely, they won’t botch up yet another crime scene.
Day 11: Invisibility Cloak
Tryst Behind The Tapestry by @ladderofyears (E, 1k)
It's Eighth Year and Harry and Draco enjoy some very sexy - and very invisible - fun after dark has fallen at Hogwarts.
Invisibly Arouse (E, Digital Art) by @chuckweasley
The boys get frisky under the cloak!
Day 12: Duelling
Duel by @ladderofyears (M, 365)
Harry and Draco practice duelling and things get a little heated.
Prompt: Dueling by blackwingsblackwords (T, 534)
In which a lesson is learned.
Cut Me Open (and use me) by @triggerlil
Draco is the heir to the throne of England. Harry is a nobleman who wants to reclaim his honour. Somehow, these two things are intimately linked. Enter a sword, a dagger, and the hands of God, and you have a story about two men with tongues like knives, learning to lick love off sharp edges.
Day 13: Mirror
Deep Dark Truthful Mirror by @ladderofyears (E, 2k)
Draco shows Harry a very old, very powerful magical object: a mirror that will show his deepest, darkest sexual desires.
Getting Ready for Harry by @chuckweasley (G, Digital Art)
Harry likes Draco in glitter and cozy sweaters...don’t we all?
Day 16: Magic Sex Toys
hot damn, hot water, hot shower by @crimsonhead-ache
Harry was more than ready for a long soak, a nice glass of firewhiskey, and twelve hours of sleep.
Too bad life never works out the way it's planned, or is it?
Colour, love?  by @choulatte (E, 7.7k)
Holding Harry’s gaze, Draco took out the lube and let his fingers dance over the golden cockring he'd previously kept hidden, liberally coating it in the slippery substance. He watched how Harry’s eyes followed his movements, a desperate groan escaping the other man when he finally recognized his fate.
Draco merely smiled.
Both by @chuckweasley (E, Digital Art)
Harry knows Draco likes to be filled.
Day 17: Room of Requirement
No Fantasy Required by @manixzen (E, 4.1k)
The Room of Requirement has never quite recovered from the war. It seems hell-bent on fulfilling every need of students and faculty alike, in or out of the room itself. Professors Potter and Malfoy really wish it would stop trying to do the students’ homework, though.
The Room Of Requirement Always Provides by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Just a hundred words of Draco and Harry having some smutty fun in the Room of Requirement.
Day 18: Herbology
Knowledge by @ladderofyears (E, 100)
Harry and Draco inhale sex pollen.
Day 19: Hair Pulling
Yeah, Pull it Harder by @chuckweasley (E, Digital Art)
The sex is very good.
Day 20: Veritaserum
Neither Of Us Have To Say A Single Word by @ladderofyears (T, 365)
When Draco is being badly bullied, Harry steps in and looks after him. Pre-slash.
A Bit of Honesty by @manixzen (E, 3.6k)
A Hogwarts ball, a spiked punch, Professor Potter and Professor Malfoy on chaperone duty… what could go wrong?
Day 21: Dragonhide
Dressing Up by @ladderofyears (T, 333)
The Potter-Malfoy family negotiate the tricky issue of Halloween costumes.
All Wrapped Up by @chuckweasley (E, Digital Art)
The boys take care of each other the best they can.
Day 22: Gillyweed
The Shape Of Love by @ladderofyears (E, 200)
Harry and Draco take Gillyweed and make love in The Black Lake.
Day 25: Tattoos
Tear it down piece by piece by moonstruckmuse (E, 7.8k)
Draco just wants to get rid of this stupid Dark Mark. Why is this so complicated?
His to Adorn, to Cherish, & to Keep by @maesmora (E, 1.4k)
Draco Malfoy is many things: calm, collected, in control. At least until Harry Potter gets his hands on him, and those aren't the only things Draco lets Harry put on his body...
Day 26: Exhibitionism
how can anybody have you and lose you and not lose their mind too? by @crimsonhead-ache (E, 3.8k)
As soon as he received that letter in the post last week from Potter’s boyfriend, he knew he would be in for it.
Day 27: Formal Wear
I guess that’s just me, honey, I guess that’s how I’m built by @crimsonhead-ache (E, 4k)
The way they adorned Potter’s body like they were made for him made him want to kiss his seamstresses’ feet. The lines, the colors, brought out his skin tone like nothing ever could.
Well, except perhaps the ropes Draco keeps in the bottom drawer of his bedside table.
Harry Potter and his Great Big Suit Kink by @swisstae (M, 2k)
Harry really doesn’t want to say it. Not because he thinks Draco will judge, mind you, but because it’s so embarrassing. Harry Potter—Saviour of the Wizarding World—turning into an incoherent mess at the sight of his boyfriend wearing a suit.
Waste Not, Want Not by @dragontamerdame (M, Art)
Harry may have gone a bit too far.
Day 28: Floo
the rush I get touchin’ you is somethin’ else by @crimsonhead-ache (E, 3.1k)
Harry frowned though; instead of feeling his joggers that had adorned his lower-half, now he felt the air hit his bare legs.   He was going to murder Draco.
come through the fire my love by @triggerlil (T, 534)
Harry prepares for date night with Draco... until the man calls him through the floo to tell him he'll be late. Draco's just lucky Harry has a thing for fire.
Day 29: Wandless Magic
Without a touch by moonstruckmuse (M, 207)
Learning to do wandless magic.

NEXT
-----------------------
Marinette wanted to chase after him, but suddenly the pain in her heart flared again. She suddenly detransformed and fell on her knees. The green glow around her heart got stronger and she was suppressing the scream of pain.
“I am so sorry Marinette. I tried to heal you… but this is some dark magic. Oh no! I think I made it worse…” Tikki was lamenting while floating next to the girl. The last thing Marinette rememebed before passing out from the pain was a scream and a pair of green eyes staring at her. There might have been some words, but she was unable to hear them.
-----------
Damian cursed under his breath. Of course something like this would happen. Marinette passed out from the pain that the curse was causing her. Only my mother. He tired to remember anything that would help, but nothing came. He was certain it had something to do with the marriage ceremony, but what exactly he had no idea. The whole ceremony was quite hazy in his memory. He didn’t really pay that much attention to what was said, instead trying to free himself. He looked at the worried kwami floating around in panic.
“tt. Jon. Lay her down on the bed. You.” He looked at Tikki. “Why did this happen?”
“I don’t know. When we merged I tried to heal her body so she stood a chance. There was some dark magic around Marinette’s heart and I tired to purify it, but it pushed me out and this happened. Oh my Marinette.” Tikki almost started to cry.
“That is mother’s fault. She did something during wedding. This is some… curse or something.”
There were several bangs and three people barged into the room. The boy wore a black, teal, and cyan suit, appearing to be slender and muscular. His suit had a snake texture along with the same kind of underbelly like a snake and had a cyan colored mask around his eyes. His eyes were green and his hair was in same coloration as his outfit. He held a lyre in battle position.
Next was a girl. She wore a red bodysuit with an image of a black rose with a yellow outlining involving her from her left leg to her chest with the flower holding the images that represent the three elements: lightning, air and water. She also had a black collar/turtleneck (where she had her choker), black forearm-length gloves and black legs starting at a point in the middle of her lower legs, both with yellow outlining. On the back of her head, she had four red dragon like horns with yellow tips with black outlining and, on her back, she had a holder for her sword. On her face, she wore a red mask around her eyes with yellow and black outline at the base of the sides. Her eyes were golden with a yellow scleras.
Third was Chloe.
“What is going on here?” Viperion asked with worry when he saw Marinette on the bed. Tikki hid behind Damian not to expose her chosen.
“She is suffering from some kind of curse. I have no knowledge of what set it off.” Damian summarized.
“I can hear her song…” Viperion said more to himself than anyone in particular. “It’s… so distorted. Almost like there was… I never before encountered anything like this.”
“Her song?” Chloe looked like she was about to faint. TMI. Waay TMI for one day.
“There is time for questions will come later. For now Mar… This girl needs our help.” Ryuko stated calmly, but there was some well-hidden fear in her voice. Not well enough for Damian.
The stutter did not escape young Wayne. Marinette never told him the identities of the two remaining full-time heroes. She did tell him she only had two friends that still supported her though and it was not that hard to connect the dots.
“I agree.” He said. “I assume you are trustworthy enough if Ladybug made you a full-time heroes. Kent, get me my case.”
Jon made a faux salut and flew to his room. In just a moment he was back with the silver case. He put it on the ground and Damian opened it. Viperion and Ryuko looked at the content and their expression shifted a bit. While the girl stayed silent, a small gasp escaped serpent hero. The only reaction Robin gave them was an absent-minded dismissive hand-wave while he pillaged through the utility belt.
At the same time Chloe was next to Marinette’s unconscious body. She could see that even now she was in great pain. A tear fell down the blonde’s face. “I just got a friend… don’t make me alone again. I promise I will be the best friend ever…”
“tt. I have no more anti-charms.”
“So call Raven. I am sure she can come here.” Jon suggested. “I will even carry her here to speed things up.
“She is in different plane of existence on some… pilgrimage. And my roaming does not cover hell or wherever she went.”
“Zatana then? Doctor Fate?” Superboy did not gave up and started to enumerate the Justice League members that had some knowledge of magic.
“tt. Yeah. Let’s get Santa Claus” Damian joked.
“No can do. He is too busy before christmas.” Tikki said surprising everyone. There was a loud THUD! and Chloe was now fainted on the floor.
“Weren’t you supposed to stay hidden? And he is real?!” Damian screamed the last part.
“I am the first thing that ever came into existence, you are best friends with two aliens, a mutant and a half-devil. Do you honestly have trouble believing in Santa Claus?” Tikki asked. “Oh my… I am turning into Plagg…” She moaned.
“Yes. the best way to spend time is to wallow about your choice of words while your chosen is fucking dying from pain.” Damian cursed.
“I know a solution. In fairy tales most curses can be broken with true love’s kiss!” Tikki said happily.
“Does it look like a fairy tale to you?” Damian was losing patience
“No. But there is a reason why people believed in it. Only it doesn’t work that way really.” She paused and Damian sent her a death glare. Kagami, Luka and Jon all decided to step back to give them space. None had any idea who would come victorious. Tikki might have been all-powerful, but Damian had enough tenacity and determination to not care. “The true loves kiss can only break some curses, mostly related to love.”
“So whatever curse mother put on her during the wedding should be reversable with a… kiss?”
“Exactly!”
Damian pondered this. He wanted to do it, but he just… froze. Every part of him was telling him that this was the only way. That he had to save her. But at the same time, this little part of his brain was telling him that this was not right. That their first kiss should not be like that.
Damian slowly approached and took Marinette’s hand. He leaned over so their faces were only centimeters apart.
“I am sorry.’

10th April >> (@ZenitEnglish) #PopeFrancis #Pope Francis Presides Over Celebration of Passion of the Lord. Full Text of Homily by Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap
Pope Francis on Good Friday presided over the celebration of the Passion of the Lord in the Vatican Basilica.
The Preacher of the Pontifical House, Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., delivered the homily, which is provided in its entirety below, provided by the Vatican.
“I HAVE PLANS FOR YOUR WELFARE AND NOT FOR WOE”
St. Gregory the Great said that Scripture “grows with its readers”, cum legentibus crescit.[1] It reveals meanings always new according to the questions people have in their hearts as they read it. And this year we read the account of the Passion with a question—rather with a cry—in our hearts that is rising up over the whole earth. We need to seek the answer that the word of God gives it.
The Gospel reading we have just listened to is the account of the objectively greatest evil committed on earth. We can look at it from two different angles: either from the front or from the back, that is, either from its causes or from its effects. If we stop at the historical causes of Christ’s death, we get confused and everyone will be tempted to say, as Pilate did, “I am innocent of this man’s blood” (Mt 27:24). The cross is better understood by its effects than by its causes. And what were the effects of Christ’s death? Being justified through faith in him, being reconciled and at peace with God, and being filled with the hope of eternal life! (see Rom 53:1-5).
But there is one effect that the current situation can help us to grasp in particular. The cross of Christ has changed the meaning of pain and human suffering—of every kind of suffering, physical and moral. It is no longer punishment, a curse. It was redeemed at its root when the Son of God took it upon himself. What is the surest proof that the drink someone offers you is not poisoned? It is if that person drinks from the same cup before you do. This is what God has done: on the cross, he drank, in front of the whole world, the cup of pain down to its dregs. This is how he showed us it is not poisoned, but that there is a pearl at the bottom of it.
And not only the pain of those who have faith but of every human pain. He died for all human beings: “And when I am lifted up from the earth,” he said, “I will draw everyone to myself” (Jn 12:32).
Everyone, not just some! St. John Paul II wrote from his hospital bed after his attempted assassination, “To suffer means to become particularly susceptible, particularly open to the working of the salvific powers of God, offered to humanity in Christ.”[2] Thanks to the cross of Christ, suffering has also become in its own way a kind of “universal sacrament of salvation” for the human race.
* * *
What light does all of this shed on the dramatic situation that humanity is going through now? Here too we need to look at the effects more than at the causes—not just the negative ones we hear about every day in heart-wrenching reports but also the positive ones that only a more careful observation can help us grasp.
The pandemic of Coronavirus has abruptly roused us from the greatest danger individuals and humanity have always been susceptible to: the delusion of omnipotence. A Jewish rabbi has written that we have the opportunity to celebrate a very special paschal exodus this year, that “from the exile of consciousness” [3]. It took merely the smallest and most formless element of nature, a virus, to remind us that we are mortal, that military power and technology are not sufficient to save us. As a psalm in the Bible says, “In his prime, man does not understand. / He is like the beasts—they perish” (Ps 49:21). How true that is!
While he was painting frescoes in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the artist James Thornhill became so excited at a certain point about his fresco that he stepped back to see it better and was unaware he was about to fall over the edge of the scaffolding. A horrified assistant understood that crying out to him would have only hastened the disaster. Without thinking twice, he dipped a brush in paint and hurled it at the middle of the fresco. The master, appalled, sprang forward. His work was damaged, but he was saved.
God does this with us sometimes: he disrupts our projects and our calm to save us from the abyss we don’t see. But we need to be careful not to be deceived. God is not the one who hurled the brush at the sparkling fresco of our technological society. God is our ally, not the ally of the virus! He himself says in the Bible, “I have . . . plans for your welfare and not for woe” (Jer 29:11). If these scourges were punishments of God, it would not be explained why they strike equally good and bad, and why the poor usually bring the worst consequences of them. Are they more sinners than others?
No! The one who cried one day for Lazarus’ death cries today for the scourge that has fallen on humanity. Yes, God “suffers”, like every father and every mother. When we will find out this one day, we will be ashamed of all the accusations we made against him in life. God participates in our pain to overcome it. “Being supremely good – wrote St. Augustine – God would not allow any evil in his works, unless in his omnipotence and goodness, he is able to bring forth good out of evil.”[4]
Did God the Father possibly desire the death of his Son in order to draw good out of it? No, he simply permitted human freedom to take its course, making it serve, however, his own purposes and not those of human beings. This is also the case for natural disasters like earthquakes and plagues. He does not bring them about. He has given nature a kind of freedom as well, qualitatively different of course than that of human beings, but still a form of freedom—freedom to evolve according to its own laws of development. He did not create a world as a programmed clock whose least little movement could be anticipated. It is what some call “chance” but the Bible calls instead “the wisdom of God.”
* * *
The other positive fruit of the present health crisis is the feeling of solidarity. When, in the memory of humanity, have the people of all nations ever felt themselves so united, so equal, so less in conflict than at this moment of pain? Never so much as now have we experienced the truth of the words of one of our great poets: “Peace, you peoples! Too deep is the mystery of the prostrate earth.”[5] We have forgotten about building walls. The virus knows no borders. In an instant, it has broken down all the barriers and distinctions of race, nation, religion, wealth, and power. We should not revert to that prior time when this moment has passed. As the Holy Father has exhorted us, we should not waste this opportunity. Let us not allow so much pain, so many deaths, and so much heroic engagement on the part of health workers to have been in vain. Returning to the way things were is the “recession” we should fear the most.
They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks;
One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again. (Is 2:4)
This is the moment to put into practice something of the prophecy of Isaiah whose fulfillment humanity has long been waiting for. Let us say “Enough!” to the tragic race toward arms. Say it with all your might, you young people, because it is above all your destiny that is at stake. Let us devote the unlimited resources committed to weapons to the goals that we now realize are most necessary and urgent: health, hygiene, food, the fight against poverty, stewardship of creation. Let us leave to the next generation a world poorer in goods and money, if need be, but richer in its humanity.
* * *
The word of God tells us the first thing we should do at times like these is to cry out to God. He himself is the one who puts on people’s lips the words to cry out to him, at times harsh words of lament and almost of accusation: “Awake! Why do you sleep, O Lord? / Rise up! Do not reject us forever! . . . Rise up, help us! / Redeem us in your mercy” (Ps 44, 24, 27). “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” (Mk 4:38).
Does God perhaps like to be petitioned so that he can grant his benefits? Can our prayer perhaps make God change his plans? No, but there are things that God has decided to grant us as the fruit both of his grace and of our prayer, almost as though sharing with his creatures the credit for the benefit received.[6] God is the one who prompts us to do it: “Seek and you will find,” Jesus said; “knock and the door will be opened to you” (Mt 7:7).
When the Israelites were bitten by poisonous serpents in the desert, God commanded Moses to lift up a serpent of bronze on a pole, and whoever looked at it would not die. Jesus appropriated this symbol to himself when he told Nicodemus, “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life” (Jn 3:14-15). We too at this moment have been bitten by an invisible, poisonous “serpent.” Let us gaze upon the one who was “lifted up” for us on the cross. Let us adore him on behalf of ourselves and of the whole human race. The one who looks on him with faith does not die. And if that person dies, it will be to enter eternal life.
“After three days I will rise”, Jesus had foretold (cf. Mt 9:31). We too, after these days that we hope will be short, shall rise and come out of the tombs of our homes. Not however to return to the former life like Lazarus, but to a new life, like Jesus. A more fraternal, more human, more Christian life!

Hey, I've been an avid dragon enthusiast since I was a kid and your blog is a huge inspiration! Would you mind doing England for the Here Be Dragons prompt?
Certainly! I am glad to hear you are a dragon enthusiast, I am the same!
So, I have already done Southern England in this ask here  so to do the rest of England we would need to do the counties not included there - so Northumberland (my home county!), Tyne and Wear, Durham, Cumbria (my partner’s home county), Yorkshire, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Derbshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Leiscteshire etc. etc. (I was going to list them all then I realised there were A LOT so apologies dear anon if I missed yours!).
So the main difference between your ask, England in general, and the previous ask, Southern England specifically, is that in most of England we do not have the green wyvern or vouivre. The dragons we have are the lindorm (Vivernapterous fafnirus) the smok (Drakon drakon) and the cockatrice (Basiliskos gallimimus).
The lindorm is a long brownish green serpentlike dragon with two small forelimbs. It lives in burrows and deep ponds and eats small game birds and animals. In English folklorish tradition the lindorm is capable of two great feats - the first is being able to grow to impossibly long lengths, and the second is to grow into two dragons if it is split in half.
The most famous lindorm myth from England is that of the Lambton Worm. Once the Earl of Lambton caught an immature lindorm (eel-like in appearance) and, deciding it was too gross to keep, threw it into a well. This dragon grew to a huge size, wrapping three times around Worm Hill near Lambton (often stories say Penshaw Hill, as this is the big famous hill with a cool building on it - Worm Hill is a smaller hill much closer to the river). The Earl asked a witch what to do, and she said he must wear spiked armour to do battle with the dragon, and once the dragon was slain he must kill the next living thing he saw, or else the Earls of Lambton would all meet unquiet deaths.
The Earl planned to have dogs released once he killed the dragon so that he may kill the dogs too, and he marched out to Worm Hill wearing the spiked armour. The dragon tried to wrap itself around the earl and was impaled on the spikes, eventually bleeding out. In celebration, the Earl’s father ran out to congratulate his son instead of releasing the dogs. Unable to kill his father, the Earl doomed the family to a curse for several generations.
Dogs were also involved in the slayings of the Serpent of Kellington, the Long Slingsby Serpent and the Serpent of Nunnington, all in Yorkshire.Yorkshire dragon slayings have a tried and tested formula - the hero must wear spiked armour (as the Earl of Lambton did) and must bring a dog to snap up parts of the dragon which are cut loose from the main body to prevent the dragon from multiplying (which is biologically impossible, but having a well trained dog aid in a dragon slaying seemed like a sensible move back in the day) and the dragon must be fought in a river, so that spare parts of the dragon are washed away downstream and cannot create more dragons to interfere in the battle. There is a chance one may die to the ‘venomous blood’ of the dragon, most likely the cytotoxic venoms spat by lindorms when they are threatened.
The final lindorm myth of note Not in the South of England (please check the other Ask for a wealth of knucker stories) is that of a little known hero called Scaw who killed the Handale Worm of Yorkshire (there are a LOT of Yorkshire dragon legends).
While lindorms are very important to English mythology, the most iconic dragon is probably the smok, a reddish animal with large wings. This is the dragon found on the Welsh flag and on family crests and sigils throughout the UK - this is the dragon made of chalk at Bures, and it’s likeness is also seen in a church at Wissington.
Being from Northumberland I am obviously going to recount a good Northumbrian tale, that of the Laidly Worm of Bamborough. Northumberland was once an entire country, stretching halfway down modern England and a third of the way up into modern Scotland, and the seat of this kingdom was Bamborough Castle. In mythology, the King of Northumberland married a witch, who made plans against him. She sent the prince Childe Wynd away to Norway and poisoned the king slowly to death. The only witness to this crime was a princess that the witch turned into a dragon, and, distraught, the dragon flew away to Spindlestone Hugh.
Childe Wynd, who had been sent away to perform impossible tasks of bravery, came back a lot sooner than the witch expected, as he was somehow able to complete these tasks. He heard of a dragon terrorising the kingdom and rode his horse straight to the scene, tying his steed up at the legendary Spindlestone. He approached the dragon, sword in hand, but then realised it was a kindred spirit. He kissed the dragon on the nose, and it magically turned back into his sister.
The two of them returned to Bamborough, and Childe Wynd was able to resume his rightful place there as the witch had returned to her natural state -a warty toad - when the princess’ dragon spell had been broken.
Another engaging story is the medieval comedy of the dragon of Wantley in Yorkshire - this dragon was killed by More of More Hall by a swift kick to the backside (the dragon’s weak spot!), and More was paid in virgins and beer (a classic folk hero).
Finally there is the Cheshire story of the Moston dragon, who specifically preyed unfairly on the people of Moston who were just trying to eat some really good apples. It was shot by Sir Thomas Venables.
The less iconic English dragon species is the cockatrice, and I was delighted to find the story of a Cumbrian cockatrice at the small town of Renwick. The story says a cockatrice (chicken dragon) was found underneath a church, so one of the church builders needed to smite it with a branch of magical protective rowan - meaning essentially some builders found a dragon, freaked out and beat it to death with a large stick.
There are a few English dragons which did not fit any specific dragon species in Dracones Mundi, such as the winged Essex serpent (might be a gwiber (Pteroserpens cambrius) out of Wales?), the invisible Longwitton dragon, and then a few other dragons which lack proper descriptions (Sockburn dragon from County Durham, Brent Pelham dragon from Hertfordshire, the dragon that lived under the Drake Stone at Alnwick etc.)
Basically this boils down to England having 3 - to - 5 species of dragon according to Dracones Mundi: lindorms, smoki and cockatrices are found throughout England, gwiberod are found near Wales but also sprinkled in a few other locations according to legend, and vouivre are found in southern England.

Broken Sword - Rue Jarry Part 1
I build Broken Sword’s Rue Jarry before in a speedbuild a few years ago. Since then, I tried building it numerous times but I was never satisfied with the result. After watching @plumbella take on her project of building an entire English Village recently, I felt compelled and inspired to try again. (Yes, you are inspiring, Luv <3) Halfway through, I severely regretted not having filmed the process. It was a wild ride. This time, I did not just focus on Nico’s apartment and Fleur’s flowershop. This time (again, thanks to Plumbella) I decided to fill every apartment and every store and since I apparently hate myself, I added an entire building behind the original one that we see in the game. Also, I added a chapel, because y’all need Jesus in your life.
This project took me about two entire days. I tried to make it look and feel alive and lived-in. Also, I put a few easter eggs here and there. You can find the build on the Sims 4 Gallery.
My Sim ID is: shikipon
