The Letter She Never Sent
I write to you as I depart Berlin, already anticipating my next return. The city has never felt unfamiliar, like an old friend, or more aptly put, like someone I loved terribly in a former life. It was through your narrative voice alone, the liveliness of your imagination and your capacity to tell stories, the substance of your dreams and fairy-tales — like dazzling Technicolour reels you played for me on repeat — that I understood it long before my arrival. I felt your heart beating fast with its rhythms, you showed me how to dance to its tune; even now, Berlin pulses with all of you. Will you laugh if I say that you did to me what Nick Cave’s performance in Wings of Desire did for you as a boy?
Perhaps that is why I keep coming back. The film continues to play as I shamble through the streets of Friedrichshain and ride the trains alone.
On Sunday F. and I skipped Berghain for once and ventured out to Britzer Garten to admire the annual dahlia display. We sat on a bench with our shoulders touching, struck by the vista that stood before us, with the very last of late summer’s light gleaming off the lake. I said that it was the closest thing to a hill I had ever ascended in Berlin. We were unsure where to find the dahlias, but it seemed like the dahlias found us of their own accord in a moment of remarkable synchronicity. We were astounded by the surreal hues of red and pink, purple and blue, how the natural shading of the flowers aligned with the contours of shadow such that they seemed to occupy their own glowing dimension which proudly exceeded that of our own. I don’t exaggerate when I say that their colours were so extraordinarily saturated that they changed the colour of our clothing, the benches around us, our perception of ourselves. As sunset began to descend upon us, like cats we basked in its final rays that chose to shine upon us in particular. In a perfect demonstration of how I have not lost the foolish inclination to destroy myself in pursuit of the beauty that compels me, F. had to physically block me from staring directly into the sun, not unlike how F. has stopped me, time and time again, from chasing after you.
There is so much more I have wanted to share with you but accept, hard as it may be, that I cannot. Over time, your absence has become less palpable; there will come a day where F. and I no longer speak of you. Nevertheless, the cruel irony of you not being there with us, after all that’s been said and done, is never lost on me.
I want to tell you a story of my own, a quiet one. Many months ago, some length of time after you had decisively left me, I landed in Berlin early one morning and found myself at the mercy of F. and T.’s doorstep, like a ridiculous orphan. T. cooked me tomatoes and rösti and I drifted off to sleep on their couch before they tucked me into your bed. I was unsure how long it had been since you last slept there, but I could smell you on the sheets, and through my drowsiness I thought about how we should have been sleeping there entwined, how close we came to it.
It was finally time to go — and I couldn’t help but take a photograph of the bed, its mattress crumpled with the imprints that our bodies made on entirely separate occasions, the last shape that we accidentally formed together.

Creating Unforgettable Experiences: The Role of a Garden Event Planner in Berlin
Berlin, the vibrant capital of Germany, is renowned for its rich history, dynamic culture, and a unique blend of urban and natural beauty. Among the various facets that make Berlin stand out, its green spaces are particularly cherished. Gardens, parks, and outdoor venues across the city provide the perfect backdrop for a wide range of events, from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations. To turn these outdoor settings into magical experiences, a Garden Event Planner in Berlin plays a crucial role.
The Rise of Garden Events in Berlin
In recent years, garden events have gained immense popularity in Berlin. As more people seek to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors, gardens have become the preferred venue for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and cultural festivals. These settings offer a serene and picturesque environment, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the occasion in a refreshing atmosphere.

However, organizing a garden event is no simple task. It requires careful planning, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both the venue and the client’s vision. This is where a garden event planner steps in, ensuring that every aspect of the event is meticulously coordinated to create an unforgettable experience.
The Role of a Garden Event Planner
A garden event planner in Berlin wears many hats, acting as a coordinator, designer, and problem-solver. Their role begins with understanding the client’s needs, preferences, and the nature of the event. Whether it’s a romantic wedding or a corporate retreat, the planner’s goal is to translate the client’s vision into a tangible reality, using the garden’s natural beauty as the canvas.
Venue Selection and Layout Design: One of the first tasks of a garden event planner is to select the perfect venue. Berlin offers a plethora of garden locations, each with its own unique charm. From the historic gardens of Charlottenburg Palace to the modern settings of the Britzer Garten, the planner must choose a venue that aligns with the event’s theme and the client’s vision. Once the venue is selected, the planner designs the layout, considering factors such as guest flow, seating arrangements, and focal points to ensure a seamless experience
Vendor Coordination: A successful garden event relies on the seamless coordination of various vendors, including caterers, florists, lighting specialists, and entertainers. The event planner acts as the central point of contact, managing communication and logistics to ensure that every vendor is aligned with the event’s schedule and requirements. This coordination is essential in creating a cohesive and well-executed event.
Weather Contingency Planning: Berlin’s unpredictable weather can be a challenge for outdoor events. A Garden Show Events in Berlin event planner must always have a contingency plan in place, whether it’s arranging for tents, heaters, or an alternative indoor location. This foresight ensures that the event can proceed smoothly, regardless of the weather conditions.
Personalized Touches: What sets a garden event apart is the personalized touch that a planner can bring. From custom floral arrangements to unique lighting designs, the planner works closely with the client to incorporate personal elements that make the event truly special. This attention to detail enhances the overall experience and leaves a lasting impression on guests.
