Every season since it first aired, fans have stated they think Disney and Pedro have problems, Pedro’s not coming back for Mando, Pedro hates Mando, etc. And yet, when he does talk about it, he states he would play Mando forever, etc. The people saying Pedro is done with Mando are literally a broken record and they won’t stop saying the same old thing until the series is finally done and then they get to say, “Ah ha! See! I was right. The season is over because Pedro is done with Mando!”

Get a f*ck*ng life people. Stop worrying about things you have no control over and stop instilling fake worry into other fans that just want to enjoy the Mando show. Time and time again Pedro has proven he isn’t “done” with Mando so stop freaking out every time he doesn’t promote your fave show to YOUR satisfaction. It’s his life and it’s his social media account, he’ll post what he wants when he wants to as many times as he likes.

To be quite frank I find the people who say this constantly to either be grace randolph fans because the reasons they state why pedro is done with the mandalorian are the same rumors grace started after season 1 and it turned out to be false. Or Brendan, lateef, and Gina fans who are mad pedro is still on the show and is still presented as the mandalorian, while brendan atleast doesnt get the same worldwide recognition and gina was fired.

Caricatures of Death Personified

So I put off getting my flu shot in 2018...

Y’know, I ain’t around these parts too much anymore (Yahoo can go huff a dong), but I just wanted to tell y’all my tale of the 2018/2019 holiday season...

December 17-20: Got the flu (later confirmed to be one of the strains protected by this season’s vaccine). Felt shite, took cold meds, still felt shite but not so much that I could justify not starting the Q1 spreadsheets at work.

Dec 21: Knew the crackles in my lungs were pneumonia. Couldn’t keep my blood oxygen above 90%. Went to the ER that night. They wanted to send me home. I said “I know something is wrong, I would be very uncomfortable going home.” They managed to find a bed in the hospital, said “fine, we’ll give you observation until tomorrow.”

Dec 22: Decompensated quickly. Parents apparently came up north, though I don’t remember seeing them before I woke up again. Couldn’t get aortic O2 saturation above 65% so I ended up intubated.

Late Dec 22-Early Dec 30: Completely unconscious, with the first two days on paralytics so that the ventilator did 100% of my breathing. The 36 hours on either side of my sedation are completely blank in my memory.

At some point my secondary infection (which was never discerned, though extensive testing for bacteria and fungi was done) caused me to become critically ill, and there were preparations made to fly my to Mayo for ECMO. Thankfully, the high-dosage steroid treatment they gave me when I started getting worse helped, and I began improving slowly.

Dec 31: I start to see the world again. My first "memories” are strange delusions brought on by the anesthetics. I thought I had been in a coma for 6 years, and that I was in Cleveland. Why the fuck would I be in CLEVELAND?

I remember seeing the news, something about New Year’s Eve. I fell back asleep, into Seroquel dreams.

Jan 1: My memories start genuinely coming back. I discovered I was too weak to extend my arm fully, and too shaky to eat Jell-O. The Jell-O DID get delightfully wobbly.

Seriously though, have you ever gone from being exceptionally strong to literally being unable to eat unless you did little T-rex arms? It’s a funny mental picture, but frustrating as hell. I would have been humiliated if I had more brain cells to spare.

Jan 2: Little Raven’s Birthday. Finally get out of ICU. Moved up to the general wards. Still can’t breathe easily. Food is vile-tasting. Can barely eat. Choke down a lemon bar and cry about how much better Brendan’s were and how much I miss my brother and how I refuse to make my parents go through that again.

Jan 3: Manage my first wobbly steps with a walker. The floor hurts my knees and feet. The blood in my eyes is finally being cleared by my body.

Jan 3-5: Slow improvement. Slow for an otherwise-healthy young adult, at least. It feels like forever. My dad and I watched an unbearable amount of cross-country ski qualifying races for the Olympic teams. There’s a terrifying night-vision cam in my hospital room, which wouldn’t bother me if it didn’t have a creepy smiley face.

Jan 5-9: Transitional care, getting physical and occupational therapy. I finally got home to my apartment (and cat!) that afternoon. I spent the next week regaining my strength and seeing specialists to try and find out why I got so sick. Consensus so far is “flu sucks and you’re unlucky?” I’m hoping to have better answers next month at my secondary follow-ups.

I aged my husband and parents about a decade during my hospital stay. I missed a month of work and am still fixing problems that arose with the backlog.

My Christmas dinner was a 10% dextrose solution, since I was still paralyzed and couldn’t have anything down my NG tube yet. New Year’s Eve drinks? “GIVE ME SOME FUCKING WATER!” - but not being able to have any, because I was still overloaded with fluid due to the standard protocol to prevent hypoperfusion when someone goes into septic shock.

Just to make it clear: I would not have survived without the tens of thousands of hours of training and practice that my medical team devoted their lives to acquiring. I would not have survived without the millions of hours of research and trials that allowed the machines that kept me monitored, cooled when my fever continued to spike, and breathing in a life-sustaining way when my lungs weren’t able to exchange gasses.

I am a fat bitch, but I am physically active, eat fairly decently, and don’t smoke or drink excessively. I am not someone who “should” be threatened by deadly complications due to influenza-caused pneumonia. Yet I was. 

And YOU could be, too. Get yer flu shot, if you can. If you can’t, yell at others until they do.

It’s not too late in the season, trust me. People still die in March. People like you.

Pope St. Leo IX: 152nd successor of St. Peter who is an aristocrat from Germany and a powerful ruler of central Italy while holding the papacy. He is widely considered the most historically significant German pope of the Middle Ages and was instrumental in the precipitation of the Great Schism of 1054, considered the turning point in which the Catholic and Orthodox Churches formally separated.

March 15 - Umi Sonoda

St. Louise de Marillac: French widow and social service worker who is the co-founder of the Daughters of Charity alongside Vincent de Paul. Her major shrine can be found in Rue du Bac in Paris, and is the patron saint of widows, social workers and the Vincentian Service Corps.

June 9 - Nozomi Tojo

St. Columba: Irish abbot and evangelist who is known for his monicker, 'the Apostle to the Picts'. At the beginning of the Hiberno-Scottish mission, he is credited with spreading Christianity in what is today Scotland. In addition for being one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland along with Saint Brendan, his major shrine can be found in Iona, Scotland.

July 22 - Nico Yazawa

St. Mary Magdalene: One of the most prominent figures in Christianity and, according to the four canonical gospels, traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Mary is mentioned by name twelve times in the canonical gospels, more than most of the apostles. Mary Magdalene is known in many Christian traditions as the ‘Apostle to the Apostles’. All four of the canonical Gospels  identify her, either alone or as a member of a larger group of women, as the first witness to the empty tomb, and the first to testify to Christ’s resurrection. She is the patron of penitent sinners and converts.

August 3 - Honoka Kosaka

St. Lydia of Thyatira: A holy woman who is mentioned in the New Testament, and is regarded as the first documented convert to Christianity in Europe. Her appearance can be found in the 16th chapter of Acts (verses 14 and 15).

September 12 - Kotori Minami

The Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary: This Marian feast day is an optional memorial celebrated in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church and it has been a universal Roman Rite feast since 1684, when Pope Innocent XI included it in the General Roman Calendar to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. Promoters of veneration of the Holy Name of Mary including Anthony of Padua, Bernard of Clairvaux and Alphonsus Liguori. Its objective is to commemorate all the privileges bestowed upon Mary by God and all the graces received through her intercession and mediation.

October 21 - Eli Ayase

St. Ursula: Her name stands for 'little female bear', and is a martyr who died in 383 AD. Her major shrine can be found in Cologne, Germany, and is the patron saint of Cologne and Binangonan, Rizal Province in the Philippines.

November 1 - Rin Hoshizora

Solemnity of All Saints: Also known as 'All Saints' Day' or 'All Hallows' Day', it is a celebrated event in honor of all the saints, known and unknown. The Christian celebration of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day stems from a belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven (the 'Church triumphant'), and the living (the 'Church militant'). In Catholic theology, the day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven. A circular economy developed within a seaside town and a project that explores conserving the beauty of "eroded architecture" are included in Dezeen's latest school show by students at Cardiff University.

School statement: "The Year three of BSc Architectural Studies is the culmination of Years one and two. Students can deploy understanding, knowledge and abilities to develop an ambitious and resolved architectural design in response to a unit brief. "Due to covid restrictions, this year's units focused on locations in Wales or worked internationally from Wales. "Smaller towns and rural areas have struggled to exist, as traditional work has been industrialised, meaning communities have shrunk and demographics have reduced to retirement age. Social infrastructure has been closing down at an exponential rate, only leading to further decline.

"Measures imposed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic have prompted a 'permanent change in working culture'. Urwin's project studies the effects this may have on a place like Cymmer, a small village located in the Welsh valleys of Neath Port Talbot.

"By making the most of the village's beautiful natural landscape, Cymmer becomes the perfect destination for young professionals and commuters who want to escape the crowded city."

"The unit seeks to consider themes of waste. This is done by treating the phenomenon in wide global terms, as a product of throw-away culture, yes, but looking at places and objects as they are located in and determined by time.

"Hemptopia exploits our deep fascination for production processes by unveiling all its inner workings through its architectural language. Responding to the various opportunities on-site such as water, scattered resource pockets as well as paths, Hemptopia aims to return life to the old gash by showing how 'waste' is simply a resource waiting to be used in the right way."

Nurturing Erosion by Cecelia Huang

"This year, the Archiving Place unit is concerned with the past, present and future possibilities of agricultural landscapes within Wales. The unit will immerse itself in the process of archiving the places, cultures, and spirit of the Welsh landscape, focusing the research on the decline of agriculture in Wales.

"Nurturing Erosion" highlights the need to conserve erosion. Erosion is derived from the Latin word 'Erosionem', which can be defined as a gnawing away of. It is often seen with a negative connotation, but erosion itself is filled with benefits, capturing the fleeting moments and the always-changing flow of the river. This mobility and dynamism are the norms, constantly changing geography. Allowing this constant fleeting moment to become mundane."

The Journey Through the Domesticated Masonry Arch by Rebecca Leeman

"This unit works with an artist based in London, who purchased a small piece of land in Swansea, with the intention of building or adapting a small warehouse. He keeps a collection of artworks in the warehouse, consisting mostly of paintings and drawings and a very small number of sculpture pieces.

"This proposal takes the arch as a form of structure that alludes to the industrial history of Swansea, but also as a series of domestically scaled and inhabited spaces as a setting for exhibiting the resident artist's pottery. The seemingly opposing relationship between the ideas of immense industrial structure and domestic architecture acts as an interesting design challenge that interrogates the conscious ways in which we choose to view art."

In 1737, the mammoth Tsar Bell, created as an expression and symbol of Russian state and industrial power, was irreparably damaged in a fire before it was ever rung. While we now have the digital tools available to create virtual models of the bell’s acoustics, our reconstructions necessarily involve speculation and imagination. In 2017, lies and falsehoods are a prominent part of our political discourse, often disseminated via data-driven digital advertising and social media. We are confronted with urgent questions about truth and falsehood, fact and fiction, journalism and propaganda. Counterfactuals pairs an imagined digital reconstruction of the Tsar Bell with a real, acoustic carillon in order to invite reflection about truth and falsehood in our present moment. The piece proposes a chain of musical “what-if” scenarios: melodies and textures are proposed, then repeated in dramatically different contexts. Contrapuntal layers proceed in independent tempi, unable to reconcile to a common pulse. Repeating patterns prove unstable, breaking and evolving into unfamiliar forms. The real and the virtual entangle, and fictions abound. Performed by Tiffany Ng with the assistance of Brendan McMullen on the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Carillon at the University of Chicago during the 2018 New Carillon Music Festival. Audio engineer: Christopher Willis The Tsar Bell Project is a collaboration between UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and the University of Michigan.

Reuniting with Tom Feiler is awesome any time. This was our first chance to work together during Covid restrictions, and we found a great a house to spread out in. As usual, Tom (http://www.tomfeiler.com/) was a delight to work with. This is one of two fun spots that we created that fine September day, masked up, yet keeping things light and comedic.

Our buttoned-down PM Alan Kuipers kept the ship running with great producer support from the incomparable Amanda Field.

The added bonus of the day was working with the son of an old friend and former business partner at the end of his first year of on set work. Great to see a new generation taking the reins!
