I’ve been blogging about the tools used to craft a deliberately lo-fi electronic EP over the last few weeks and today, the full Rat Cellar Tape is out on the streaming service of your choice!

Announcing The Rat Cellar Tape by Ethanol Owl!

I’ve made a deliberately lo-fi electronic EP, performed live and recorded straight to a cassette tape! It's available for free streaming on BandCamp or pay-what-you-like downloads. You’ll also be able to stream it on your service of choice on May 3, 2024, and can pre-save using this link.

Эйдену нравится Роу и нравится давно, но чем больше он о нём узнает, тем больше убеждается в мысли, что под его броню никак не подлезть. Особенно ему, наёмнику и кочевнику, вылезшему из Пустош, с ничем в кармане.

Может быть, признаться Роу легче, чем искать специфический рейтинговый контент с полицейскими, но Эйден не хочет потерять те крохи общения, которые у них есть. От отчаяния он перебирает брейны и не замечает, как подсаживается на них, как на наркоту. Летальный исход из-за перегрузки мозга, постоянные побочки в виде давления, тошноты, слабости, тремора - всё это его не пугает.

И в одно из посещений магазина Эйден случайно находит брейн, на котором действительно есть Роу. Не рейтинговый контент, а инструктаж для новобранцев. Строго узкоспециализированный брейн, выпущенный для служебного использования.

Эйден не может поверить своему счастью - и редактирует брейн, отключая в нем эмоции реципиента, сидеть и проникаться желанием быть хорошим полицейским он не горит. Зато теперь он может в свое удовольствие печально смотреть на Роу, вещающего про основные служебные процессы на повторе.

И конечно же однажды он ляпает при Роу ответ на до боли очевидный риторический вопрос по теме того инструктажа. Не то, чтобы это было какой-то конфиденциальной информацией... Но, Роу смотрит на него так, словно знает всё. И Эйден соврёт, если скажет, что не попытался перевести всё в шутку и сбежать. Этот момент проёба ещё долго видится ему в кошмарах.

how media dissolved into braindances in Cyberpunk 2077, the in world film series Bushido (Bushido X is the film you watch at the drive in if you allow Johnny Silverhand to take over your body for a date with Rogue Amendiares), and how it reflects the pivot from storytelling to content in our film and television shows today. For me, things like Five Nights at Freddy's, Rings of Power, and the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes drove home how close we are to a sort of media apocalypse. Content over all does not lend itself to art, especially as non creatives dissolve streaming services and physical media production to suit their limited needs (shareholder brain rot)
