I kinda feel bad for these two

Ghost Kotsuzuka & Dinosaur Ryuzaki. Neither were really that bad but one got murdered by a psychopathic demonic spirit for shits and giggles while the other was turned into a massive asshole loser in the anime.

Kotsuzuka hasn't really done anything to warrant the "punishment" he got from Dark Bakura. He was a weak willed lackey of Bandit Keith and he just wanted to participate in the finals of Battle City. Then Dark Bakura came and outright killed him in the manga after their duel while in the anime he sends him (and the other two goons) to literal hell. Poor guy.

Ryuzaki wasn't that much of a jerk in the manga. Arrogant and cocky, sure, but what duelist isn't? He disappears from the manga during Jonouchi's duel with Esper Roba. There was nothing about him that would imply that he gets along with Haga or that he was an asshole even at the height of his fame. But the anime makes those two partners in crime and its just...I dunno.

Ryuzaki deserves better than that.

Propaganda: Yami Bakura enjoys scaring Kotsuzuka, and while Kotsuzuka finds Yami Bakura terrifying, he also admires him for it. They could scare everyone, together!

Pairing 2: Manipulashipping(Anzu Mazaki|Tea Gardener/Malik Ishtar)

Propaganda: I think this pair is a way to explore the really rich ideas of bodily autonomy and different ways people suffer (not to mention there’s something about the way that she’s briefly the last piece of him)… mostly i think this could be really good in a postcanon setting but that’s beside the point

The Thing in the Purple Mirror

"Folks...do you know the term "purple mirror"? If you know, be careful. If you remember it passed 20 years, then you..."

Today's card is based on the urban legend of the purple mirror. The card's own text explains about half of it; expanding on this, it's basically that if you remember this phrase by the time you turn 20, you die, because the phrase itself is cursed. This card version of the legend seems to expand upon this curse by suggesting that this sinister being lurks within the purple mirror (although that doesn't explain how the phrase itself could do anything to you). Just what exactly this being is or how it came to be is a mystery, however (the actual Japanese name seems to imply that it's more of a "person" than a "thing"). Based on appearance alone, you could say it's a ghost or a demon, or even just a weird gaseous monster. I'm questioning the choice to have weird yellow gas streaming from under this monster's eyes. It kinda seems out of place to me but idk... Speaking of color, I can't actually tell if the mirror is purple or not; the case itself looks more purple than the mirror, but maybe that's just the effect of 90% of this card being, well, purple.

Rating: 6/10, I'm immune to the curse now, but if you're under 20... Sorry
