Hanging clothes in balconies banned
16 violations issued in Sharq, Mirqab and Bneid Al Qar
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: The governor of the capital, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, confirmed that the governorate launched its strict campaign to eliminate the phenomenon of hanging clothes in the facades of the buildings, the campaign began in the regions of Sharq, Al-Mirqab and Bneid Al-Qar.  16 notifications were sent to the owners who violated in addition to 3 pledges not to repeat the offense were signed.
This came in a press statement when the Governor conducted field tour to the eastern regions of Al-Mirqab and Bneid Al-Qar, coinciding with the governorate campaign that it launched in its regions to activate the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs decision to ban hanging of clothes and furnishings on the facades of buildings.
This campaign is carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Public Cleaning and Road Works monitoring the cleanliness of the governorate’s municipality branch.
The campaign will continue especially in bachelor housing areas and apartments in commercial areas. The phenomenon of hanging clothes and furnishings distorts the general appearance of some areas of the province  which is a violation of the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs Decision No. 190 of 2008,” this decision stipulates that ” It is prohibited to clean carpets and furnishings from overlooks located on the streets, and it is prohibited to place or hanging clothes or any other things in the stands and openings located on the roads, squares or public squares with the intention of drying or ventilation or for any other purpose“.
Al-Khaled pointed out that the governorate was keen to activate this decision issued in advance in all its details and in cooperation with the concerned authorities. All citizens and expats of the governorate should adhere to this decision in order to avoid legal hassles, the governorate insists on eliminating this phenomenon that violates laws and regulations and has launched its relevant campaign and will not stop until after it is completely completed
Al-Khaled  praised the efforts of the concerned authorities that show constructive cooperation with the governorate, including the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs represented by the emergency team, the Department of Public Cleaning and Road Occupations, monitoring the cleanliness of the governorate’s municipality branch

‘Reopen external customer service offices for visitors to pay their bills’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Ministry of Electricity and Water has asked the Customer Service Sector officials to reopen external customer service offices for visitors to enable them pay their bills and to increase the value of the ministry’s low collections this year, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting official sources said, “Many of the visitors who are not good at dealing with electronic payment applications try to pay their bills only to find themselves outside the ministry building”.
They noted that allowing the entry of visitors to the building requires booking an appointment in advance, and many visitors are unable to do it, because they are unfamiliar with the technologies and electronic applications. Sources stated the ministry is trying in this period to raise its collections to compensate for the past seven months when payment was almost halted as a result of the corona crisis, pointing out that the value of collections made this year did not reach the expected level, especially after raising the consumption tariff.
It was expected that the proceeds from electricity and water for this year would reach at least 450 million dinars. They indicated the ministry’s readiness to open external offices to receive visitors to relieve pressure and congestion on the ministry’s building, indicating the ministry is awaiting a decision from concerned authorities to launch the offices in various regions of Kuwait. On the other hand, the Ministry of Electricity and Water recently started maintenance work on a number of secondary transformer stations in Jahra Governorate and it is expected that the maintenance work will continue until next Thursday, and as a result, electrical current will be disconnected during the period between four in the morning until eight in the morning.
The ministry stated that the activities will cover maintenance work in five stations at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, three stations in the Capital Governorate and three stations in Hawalli Governorate, noting the stations are located in Bayan, Salwa, Rumaithiya, Qadsiyah, Kaifan, Bneid Al-Qar, and Sharq. The sources added that maintenance work will be carried out at several secondary transformer stations in Farwaniya Governorate, specifically in Firdous, Sulaibiya, Sabah Al-Nasser and Farwaniyah areas.
