Kyle Crane and his Paper Tiger
Let the world leave us behind        Let your heart be next to mine 'Fore the flame goes out tonight        We can live (until we die).
Help. I have lost my mind. I have gone feral. I am off to live in the forests, eating moss, dressing in mud, and hosting tea parties for racoons. This recently married Paper Crane piece was done by Bluemist72 (@bluemist72). Thank you so much, I’m weeping.
Read about them in Latchkey Hero and Monsters, We.

July 20th-July 26th, 2019 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from July 20th, 2019 to July 26th, 2019.  The chat focused on the following question:
If you had to pick any song, what would be your comic’s theme song and why?
ShaRose49
I would want my comic’s theme song to be an original song written specifically about the characters. But if I had to pick a theme song right now, I’m not sure which one would suit it exactly. Something punk-rock. I do have songs in my head sometimes that I think of as sort of theme songs for certain characters, like how “Natural” By Imagine Dragons would kind of describe Kairo the way he is now, but later on, “Bird With a Broken Wing” by Owl City would describe him much better. For Kat/Sunstrike, maybe “Undefeated” by Skillet, as well as “More” By Matthew West. The only song I can think of for Evan/Bluemist specifically is “Ambivalent” By Eve(edited)
Nutty (Court of Roses)
This is always a loaded question for me because my comic is ABOUT music and I always go overboard when I make theme and character playlists, oooooooooops!!! Of course, like ShaRose, the dream is to have original themes for all my characters, and eventually I would like to hire a musician for that, to help me compose full OSTs for characters and scenes. For example, to promo a comic I love, Rickety Stitch has a key song that follows the narrative, and they have it on their website! https://ricketystitch.com/song For now, I have playlists collecting songs that make me think of all my characters, and those playlists I have linked on my site: http://courtofroses.thecomicseries.com/links/ I suppose if I had to pick songs that encompass Court of Roses as a whole, though, some top contenders would be: --Humors of Oddwood Isle - The Dread Crew of Oddwood (who have a sound that match super close to what I imagine the bards all sound like together) --Knucklehugs (Arm Yourself With Love) - Diablo Swing Orchestra --Drowsy Maggie Punjabi Celtic - The Snake Charmer --Come With Me Now - The Kongos --The Mesopotamians - They Might Be Giants
Respheal
I mostly have character themes, too But these two stand out as overarching story songs for Galebound http://www.galebound.com/: The Everlasting Guilty Crown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGDLBL6z1bs Lifelight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhgDibw7vB4 Key lyrics from the former, translated:
Do people who control and are controlled / One day forget what it means to love / Because of the hatred in their hearts, / And attack others?
and then this feels like it's kinda calling Din out directly
Are those things you tried to protect / The things you truly loved? / You gaze at your hand dyed in crimson / And finally realize the foolishness you have committed,
And then from Lifelight:
Colors weave into a spire of flame / Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed / Bear this torch against the cold of the night / Search your soul and reawaken the undying light!
which I think speaks to Magicians (since, y'know, aura colors), the mistakes of an unknown past that led everyone to this broken present, and the decisions made to ultimately save their world... which, I mean, both songs also have references to the world ending, which, uhhhhhhhhh...well.(edited)
LadyLazuli
One of the few songs that made my jaw drop - the lyrics are almost uncannily perfect for Phantomarine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXUloVYbchg(edited)
Mharz
I don't really have a general theme song for the comic but I have some for the characters. I actually had this as a theme song for Big Sis waaaaaaay before I actually started working on The Angel with Black Wings http://blackwings.mharz.com/ Paradise by Coldplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G4isv_Fylg the lyrics and melody really suit her so well:
When she was just a girl she expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep...
Life goes on, it gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
This is recent but I picked this as a theme song for Silver: Ghost Lights by Woodkid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U_uAicAjh8 The drums at the start of the song makes me imagine Silver walking in an empty hallway walking to somewhere that she only knows. The chorus fits her motives very well:
How ever fast I dance to make the sun shine
I will never fall down
No matter what it takes, I'll try to save the ghost lights
How ever hard I pray to re-make you mine
I will never feel down
No matter what it takes, I'll try to save the ghost lights
who is the ghost light, I wonder So that's for TABW. :'3(edited)

For CHAMPS http://champs.mharz.com/ I kinda picked "I Want You to Know" by Zedd and Selena Gomez https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67qworViFpY I really enjoy the beat and melody of this one for the comic like it gets you hype to see Jane or Tala fight in the octagon for some reason. Another one I picked is "Battle Symphony" by Linkin Park (rip Chester :'c) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7ab595h0AU I think the lyrics suits Jane very well like how I want her psychology should be. Like this lyrics in particular, I feel like it describes Jane in some way:
I got a long way to go
And a long memory
I've been searching for an answer
Always just out of reach
Blood on the floor
Sirens repeat
I've been searching for the courage
To face my enemies
I actually have a song that I've been eyeing recently that I feel suits one of the new characters I introduced in the comic, Katherine. It doesn't have a lyrics but the melody makes me think of a dangerous yet elegant predator which pretty much a good description of her. Barracuda by Noisestorm - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKRRWQq5f5E
AntiBunny
AntiBunny: The Gritty Cit Stories http://antibunny.net/ would certainly be suited by Jazz. Probably Gerry Mulligan's Night Lights (first track in the album by the same name). At least for Book 1. Book 2 is probably better suited by Shadows by The Midnight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGwtkJaQ9n0
AntiBunny
Nailbat http://nailbat.antibunny.net/ though would be The Dark Knight by Hanz Zimmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-wAvbxB7D8&pbjreload=10 or the '89 Batman theme by Danny Elfman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRZAk2rfESU
AntiBunny
When I get to Gritty City Stories book 3, I'm aiming for something more upbeat. like this. Explorers by The Midnight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wdZRSLJvPg I like to make each book a new jumping on point, so it also marks a change of pace. Thus why I think each book kind of needs a different theme to encapsulate it.
Draco Plato (KhyatiX)
I made an intro for Zenchav https://youtu.be/eF0xyyy5_RA
I'll probably need to make another one at some point ~ http://khyatix.com/ If I could use ANY song regardless of copyright maybe the Attack on Titan first opening, it's so bad ass, lol.
Steph (@grandpaseawitch)
I have but one song for The Old Man and the Sea Witch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl3Ce3XJSD8
ezzy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29c_KyNdcTI THIS ONE i listened to this on repeat all through conception
Desnik
For my comic http://ask-a-warlock.tumblr.com/, I would definitely choose Honky Tonk of Wermland by Detektivbyrån as an opening salvo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeXK0I_lPPQ (Everything Detektivbyrån is great if you're into background instrumental type music)
mintandvanilla
I have a LOT of playlists for Tarot Tournament but this is the one I could see as a theme song of sorts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-XbVY1T4WI
keii4ii
Heart of Keol is definitely this one. My story is about life-changing relationships, and it's slow burn. Just like this song (the lyrics don't start until like, 2:25... see what I mean about slow burn?). Bonus: the official music video features lots of GLOWING THINGS just like my comic! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzNvk80XY9s
Sorry y'all, i apparently only listen to weird indie bands that don't have their music available anywhere except for spotify, so I have a spotify link. The song I ultimately decided on for Ingress Adventuring Company was Her Locket on a Chain by Friendly Savages. I listen to this one a lot when i want to get in the comic mood. https://open.spotify.com/track/7iT6V4scygJz4kfcJvfALQ?si=8yXK4v12QzaJThU1NOlf3Q
MJ Massey
For Black Ball I envisioned an Electro Swing aesthetic. If it ever had an opening sequence, it'd be to Lone Digger by Caravan Palace https://open.spotify.com/track/0thLhIqWsqqycEqFONOyhu?si=MhX6OpH3SVeGUEnw-B1c1A
@AntiBunny I love The Midnight! Glad to know someone else who listens to them
