i've finally learned how to blend colors correctly
Tumblr media
The blending on Evol's body was kinda horrible in that last post, so I decided to watch a YouTube tutorial to help myself blend better. It turns out it worked perfectly, and that's how I made this beautiful sunset orb.
If ya wanna know how I did it, I went into Krita, chose the Q-Tip blending tool, and rubbed it back and forth horizontally on this orb.

The green pullover trick is basically the same fix you use in knitting when you've got two different dye lots of the same color.
Gray and minimally different hue of gray: jarring, awful, is that water damage?
Gray, thin band of [green], minimally different hue of gray: one shade of gray with a band of contrast, 10/10 deliberate design choice.
The alternative is knitting with two colors held together so you get a subtle ombre from one shade into the next.
And before someone points back at the nice goth having their look ruined by different dyes: they can either replace some garments with a perfectly decent deep purple, blood red or cyanide green, or throw over a black fishnet top to help blend the colors.

Have some Replica Leo for Round 2 of the @tmntfashioncompetition! This time the theme is: "Traditional Garment." I’ll be up against @villainleoau and I’m nervous cuz that’s a STELER crew and some of the most talented artists in the fandom (also their fashion sense is off the charts)!
For the art I decided to lean into some traditional Japanese attire and a prosthetic more befitting of the era. Originally I was just going to have Leo's missing arm be covered, but if he wants to be truly capable with a katana he'd need something to help keep the sheath affixed when removing his sword. This is especially necessary for duels, since the speed and pressure applied from the drawing of the sword are imperative. I imagine he has several more varying tools he can screw onto his arm in the little side pack. Also note, the Kanji means "ninja" or "ninpo" and the finer hiragana text is the infamous "You are not alone" line. I had a lot of fun with this one, trying to decide if maybe I should put it up for print.
Some of my inspo under the cut:

hi! hope you’re having a good day/night. wondering if you had any tip for achieving phosphorescence/fluorescence with colored pencils? i’ve been getting back into drawing after a long art block and wanted to draw some glow in the dark toys but i’ve been struggling to give a good actual green glow on a dark background. thought i’d ask since you’re incredible with colored pencil!
oh prismacolor neon colored pencils are perfect for this, they only have 3 colors (orange, yellow, and pink) but i think this is the closest thing to what ur describing that ive used in my own art

some of these are more subdued than others, i blend the neon color and a regular color (the neon pencils also have harder lead so are good for blending with) it creates this really nice underglow that i cant achieve with the regular colors. the more subtle ones have less of the neon color blended in and the brighter ones have more. the neon colors are really bright and vibrant it surprised me the first time i used one. my scanner does not pick up neon colors tho (idk if all scanners are like that) so I have to photograph the art instead whenever i use neon colors
im sure other brands have neon colors u can do this with (and other mediums too) this is just what i do
