He nods, almost imperceptible. Blue-gray smoke from the cigarette in his left hand drifts towards the ceiling.

“John. Why don’t we start with you telling me a little about yourself?”

“What would you like to know?” He takes a drag from the cigarette and exhales through his nose.

“Well, I mean, everything. Whatever you want to tell me. It’s not every day I get to interview a vampire.” Hawkins pushes the recorder a little closer to Silver; wouldn’t want to miss anything. “Maybe start by introducing yourself.”

A chuckle, wry, tired. Enough of a smile to catch a gleam of fang, even in the low light.

“My name is John Silver,” he says, enunciating carefully, “and I have a long fucking memory.”

Is he in way over his head? Probably. Is he gonna stop self-indulging? Absolutely not. This can really only go a few ways...

Silver shakes his head, resigned. “It means peace. These evenings with you have brought me a greater peace than I thought possible. To be able to retire here with you, to listen to you read, to share in your quiet, to tend you even when you’ve healed…it’s all I want.” Flint steps toward him before Silver can reply. “All you want,” Flint repeats, his voice nearly broken. “Are you certain?”

A year after Silver puts Flint in the ground, effectively ending their war, stories emerge of a violent curse on Skeleton Island that keeps adventurers and treasure-seekers away. Silver dismisses the stories as fanciful myth, but when Thomas and Madi abruptly disappear from their respective homes, he has to contend with the possibility that his memory might not be the entire truth. Or: John Silver returns to Skeleton Island to find the people he cared about rebuilding the very thing he sacrificed everything to tear down.

The Heart of Admiration - Conclusion

Coming in juuuuust under three years in the making, my epic OC collaboration with @acebreathesfire​ is finally complete and posted! it didn’t sit right, to leave this unfinished.

As my choice of photo may imply, this is an Explicit chapter. I am who I am, and my slow burns must culminate in all the details. Hope that doesn’t turn anyone off! There is more plot after the naughty bits, if you prefer to scroll to the end...

Hope is fairly certain that Charles meant for her to follow. And the fire that his heavy look ignited in her core certainly is impelling her to rush after him, but she doesn’t let her feet move. If she enters that cabin with him now, after everything that’s been said, his touch still hot on her skin, there’s only one thing that can happen.

And that thing will be irreversible.

“Hope,” Jack calls across the table, interrupting her moment.

She turns to him, blinking, hoping any trace of moon-eyed girlishness has cleared before he can catch her throwing any more looks after their captain.
