चैतन्य भारत न्यूज भारतीय शास्त्रीय नृत्य 'कत्थक' के मशहूर कलाकार बिरजू महाराज का आज 83वां जन्मदिन है। बिरजू महाराज ऐसी शख्सियत है जो घुंघरू की झनकार से दर्शकों का मन मोह लेते हैं। उन्होंने कथक को ना सिर्फ भारत बल्कि पूरे विश्व में एक अलग मुकाम पर पहुंचाया। आज हम आपको बताने जा रहे हैं बिरजू महाराज से जुड़ी कुछ खास बातें... बिरजू महाराज का जन्म 4 फरवरी, 1938 को उत्तर प्रदेश के लखनऊ में हुआ था। उनके पिता का नाम जगन्नाथ महाराज है और माता जी का नाम अम्मा जी महाराज था। लखनऊ घराने से ताल्लुक रखने वाले महाराज जी जब केवल 3 साल के थे, तभी पिता ने उनमें नृत्य की प्रतिभा को देखते हुए दीक्षा देना शुरू कर दिया था। बिरजू जब 9 साल के हुए तो उनके पिता की मृत्यु हो गई। इस मुश्किल वक्त में उनकी मां ने हिम्मत नहीं हारी। वो बिरजू को लेकर जयपुर, बांस बरेली और नेपाल ले जाया करती थीं। वहां महाराज जी नृत्य करते थे। उनका नृत्य देखकर लोग पैसे दिया करते थे, जिससे उन लोगों का जीवन यापन होता था। बाद में कानपुर में बिरजू महाराज ने कुछ ट्यूशन भी किए, जिससे नियमित आमदनी होती थी।

बिरजू की मां का उनका पतंग उड़ाना और गिल्ली-डंडा खेलना बिल्कुल पसंद नहीं था। जब मां पतंग के लिए पैसे नहीं देतीं तो बिरजू दुकानदार को नाच दिखा कर पतंग ले लिया करते थे। बिरजू की तबला, पखावज, नाल, सितार आदि कई व��द्य यंत्रों पर भी महारत हासिल है, वो बहुत अच्छे गायक, कवि और चित्रकार भी हैं। बिरजू ने सत्यजीत राय की 'शतरंज के खिलाड़ी' से लेकर 'दिल तो पागल है', 'गदर', 'देवदास', 'डेढ़ इश्किया', 'बाजीराव मस्तानी' जैसी कई फिल्मों में नृत्य निर्देशन किया है। उन्होंने प्रतिष्ठित राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार ’संगीत नाटक अकादमी’, ’पद्म विभूषण’ साल 1956 में प्राप्त किया।

मध्यप्रदेश सरकार ने बिरजू महाराज को 'कालिदास सम्मान’ से नवाजा। बिरजू ’सोवियत लैंड नेहरू अवार्ड’, ’एस एन ए अवार्ड’ और ’संगम कला अवार्ड’ से भी सम्मानित हो चुके हैं। उन्होंने दिल्ली में 'कलाश्रम' नाम से कत्थक संस्थान की स्थापना की। साल 2016 में बिरजू को फिल्म 'बाजीराव मस्तानी' में 'मोहे रंग दो लाल' गाने पर नृत्य-निर्देशन के लिए फिल्मफेयर पुरस्कार मिला। Read the full article
