I. childhood and hogwarts years: 

It’s rumored that Francisco Talkalot, Lucinda’s great-grandfather made his money in the illegal Dragon trade, setting up his family with wealth for generations but also the veiled suspicion of how they came into their money. Before Francisco, the family had been of a Pureblood background, but never particularly wealthy, although they dreamed of one day being as wealthy as the Blacks or the Malfoys. Things weren’t as easy for Francisco’s descendants, although they tried their hardest to invest and capitalize on the money that Francisco had made. 

Born on a warm April morning in Brazil, Lucinda’s birth caused a rift in the family. The product of an illicit affair that her father Antonio had had with a woman on one of his business trips, he returned home to England with a daughter in hand. His wife, Adriana, was devastated, but she refused to be shamed and after a lot of fighting, Adriana agreed to raise Lucinda as her own and to try to forgive her husband for what he had done. It was a lonely childhood for Lucinda, her three older brothers were much older than her when she was born, and Adriana was pleasant to her, but she was never overly loving. Lucinda couldn’t say that she felt loved by her mother, and it always made her question what she had done wrong. But she was spoiled by her father, who was trying to make up for the coldness in his wife. 

Try as Adriana might, Lucinda frequently came home from playing outside in the garden with a ripped dress or a lost ribbon and dirt on her face. Lucinda was always more interested in chasing her older brothers when they were around or flying on the broomstick that her father had bought her. When her mother put her into ballet lessons, Lucinda thrived under the workings of her teacher and she slowly began to slow down and become more of the daughter that Adriana wanted. She secretly still loved Quidditch and flying on her broom, but she wanted to make her mother happy so she decided to stop riding her broom as much.

It wasn’t until she got to Hogwarts that she realized that she could both love Quidditch and flying while also enjoying dressing up and makeup and all of the things that her mother wanted for her. Sorted into Slytherin, Lucinda fit in with the other Pureblood girls in Slytherin. She longed to be on the Quidditch team like her older brothers had, but she worried about what other people would think of her and what they might say. But then when she saw Emma Vanity join the team, Lucinda realized that if someone like Emma could join then she could too. It wasn’t until the following year that she finally was able to try out and she was picked to be a chaser.  

II. during the first wizarding war: 

In her final year at Hogwarts, scouts from all different Quidditch teams came to see the talent amongst the Hogwarts Quidditch players. Lucinda had no idea what her future would look like, she knew that her parents would want her to get married and have children, and while she wanted that too, she wasn’t sure if that was just what she wanted. The thought of working a desk job at the Ministry was equally unappealing to her, and so she was ecstatic when the Appleby Arrows coach approached her and asked if she would like to come practice with them after her graduation. She gladly accepted and from then on everything fell into place, she joined the reserve team first and then worked her way to a full-blown chaser for the team.

It wasn’t until she was nineteen that she got involved in the war. Her father died and at his funeral, her mother told her the truth of where she came from. Her biological mother had been some muggle woman in Brazil, revealing that Lucinda’s true parentage was not as Pureblooded as she had always assumed, but instead, she learned that her mother was some muggle woman that her father had met and that the woman that she thought was her mother truly wasn’t. Everything fell into place for Lucinda, all of a sudden she realized why her mother had always been so cold to her, and why her father had always spoiled her. 

It was a difficult thing to accept, learning that everything that she thought was a lie, and grieving her father. It was during that time that Lucinda was approached by someone who wanted her to join the Death Eaters. Although Lucinda had always believed that her family name made her superior, she had never really thought about joining the cause and fighting for the Dark Lord. She had been content just playing Quidditch and supporting it from afar. But with the knowledge of her birth, Lucinda couldn’t stand the idea that people learn about where she had come from, so she joined the Death Eater ranks and got the dark mark.

III. where are they now?: 

Lucinda felt nothing when the war ended. It had been several years since her father’s death, and she was still reeling from learning about her mother and her family’s history. It didn’t help that there was nobody that she trusted to open up to about it, and so she only had herself to obsess over who her biological mother was, and why her father had never told her the truth. Under the Dark Lord, she had done things that she wasn’t proud of, things that she would never speak about with anyone. But most of all, Lucinda wanted to move on, forget what had happened during the war, and focus on moving forward. All that she could focus on was not getting caught and thrown into Azkaban with some of the other Death Eaters.

Since the end of the war, Lucinda has worked on creating a brand that empowers young girls and women to play Quidditch and to follow their dreams. She strives to show the world that women can love to get dressed up and wear makeup but they can also be fierce and just as strong as men. She wants to be the woman that young girls at Hogwarts can look up to and realize that if she can do it, they can too.
