#Billy Ray was a preacher's son....

I think it'd be funny if Tuvok was from some isolated town where everyone loved him and he hated it. Like, to be clear NO ONE outside of his hometown has heard of him but for some reason his family is important in the town and only this one town [perhaps they're religious leaders due to his strong spiritual ties] and so whenever he's there he's treated like a local celebrity. People stop him to talk in the street. He gets discounts at any local store without asking. If he's visiting with his kids they'll get showered with toys and candy. They love it but Tuvok's grumbling about how this is why he moved... I just think it'd be funny if Tuvok came from a very niche-ly privileged upbringing that he treated like a dark backstory. You don't want to see his childhood hometown....it's fucked up...it was like hell, living somewhere where you were popular and everyone doted on you...you'd never understand his pain. He was voted class president every year and didn't volunteer once. He didn't even show up to a single meeting one year and they still voted him in the next year. When he returns to his hometown after the Voyager incident he finds that nearly everyone in town came to greet him and is logically mortified. Janeway or whomever is like "Tuvok this is such a sweet gesture" while Tuvok's glancing around for a cliff to jump off. He has a plaque dedicated to him at the local temple when he didn't even serve there. Guy who wants to be left alone vs Entire town of people who love and respect him
#star trek voyager#st voyager#Tuvok#voy#it's like how in some places preachers hold a lot of power in the local community despite not having any actual political standing#Billy Ray was a preacher's son....#I picture this being his childhood hometown - not where he lives with his wife and kids (he moved out as SOON as he could)#It's also just funny to contrast him more against Spock

He was unexpected. She was in the living room, working on her school work when there was a knock on their door. As the closest one, she answered it.
He stood with his parents, as she learns they are later. But she only has eyes for the tall boy with the mess of chestnut curls. “Hello Miss.” This is when she realizes he isn’t alone. Looking over she focuses on the lady, “I am Ellen Fraser. This is my husband, the Reverend Brian Fraser, and our son Jamie. Are your parents home?”
“Hello, I am Claire Beauchamp and yes they are Mrs. Fraser. Will you guys wait out here a second, please.”
“Of course Miss Beauchamp.” She smiles at them and nods especially at the son. He nods back at her, his eyes, as blue as the sky, alight with a type of mischief she wouldn’t expect from a preacher’s son. She feels his eyes on her as she walks away.
“Mum and dad, there is a Reverend Fraser with his wife and son outside.” She politely tells them. Inside, she is all jumpy. At sixteen, she has never had such a strong reaction to a boy.
“Aye yes, the new parson of the Kirk.” Her dad says as he and her mum stand. They are in her dad’s study and had been going over notes for the upcoming governor’s meeting. Her dad serves the local governor. “Let’s go meet them.” She eagerly follows her parents out.
The Frasers patiently wait. “Lord and Lady Beauchamp.” Reverend Fraser bows before them, “I am Reverend Fraser and this is my wife Ellen and son Jamie.”
“Honored to meet you Reverend Fraser, my wife Julia and our daughter Claire.”
“Aye, the well mannered lass introduced herself.” She feels her parents eyes on her but keeps her eyes demurely down. Did they think she didn’t have any manners? She was a Lord and Lady’s daughter, after all?
“Well, that is good. Please come in. We can speak in the study. Claire and Jamie…”
“I can show him around the garden.” Claire offers. “If that is alright with you and his parents, of course.”
“That sounds like a fine idea. Let the young people get to know each other. Jamie will be starting school here, after all. Will be nice to know someone here.” The parents walk in and Jamie looks at her in a way that makes her squirm a bit.
“Grand job Claire. I am usually stuck listening to a bunch of boring talk.”
“Yes. Me too. Would you like to see the garden?”
“Oh aye.” He took her hand without asking. That is when she knew he wasn’t a standard preacher’s son. She also knows his hand feels like it was made to fit into hers. They walk into the garden. He stops them when they are hidden by the towering sunflowers. “I must tell you Claire, that you are the most beautiful lass I’ve ever seen.”
“I bet you use that line on all the girls.”
“No, I don’t.” he then lowers his head and presses his lips to hers.

Hi :)
We can never be friends
Billy-Ray was a preacher's son
Me and Kurt feel the same, too much pleasure is pain
You animal, you ungrateful
Another drink, another smoke
[send me a 'hi' and I'll put my playlist on shuffle and give you the first lines of five songs as a poem]
#ask#auxiliarydetective#that's from my favourited songs and...#well.#reminds me of appolinaire/nezval/etc and their free associative poems#this playlist does not make for good poetry apparently!

"Billy Ray was the preacher's son
And when his daddy would visit he'd come along
When they gathered 'round and started talkin'
That's when Billy would take me walkin'
Out through the back yard we'd go walkin'
Then he'd look into my eyes
Lord knows, to my surprise
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes, he was, he was, ooh, yes, he was
Being good isn't always easy
No matter how hard I try
When he started sweet-talkin' to me
He'd come and tell me, "Everything is alright"
He'd kiss and tell me, "Everything is alright"
Can I get away again tonight?
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes, he was, he was, ooh, Lord knows, he was (yes, he was)
How well I remember
The look that was in his eyes
Stealin' kisses from me on the sly
Takin' time to make time
Tellin' me that he's all mine
Learnin' from each other's knowin'
Lookin' to see how much we've grown and
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes, he was, he was, oh, yes, he was
He was the sweet-talkin' son of a preacher man
(The only boy who could ever teach me)
I kissed even son of a preacher man
(The only one who could ever reach me)
The sweet-lovin' son of a preacher man
(The only one who could ever reach me)
(Was the son of a preacher man)
(The only one who could ever reach me)
(Was the son of a preacher man)"
