Etymology
The country’s name comes from the Sanskrit Sindhu, which means “river” and refers to the Indus River. Its endonym Bhārat derives from Bhāratavarṣa, which refers to the Vedic tribe of Bharatas.
Geography
India is located in South Asia and borders China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north, Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east, the Indian Ocean to the south, and Pakistan to the west.

There are nine main climates: cold desert, cold steppe, tundra, and subarctic in the north, monsoon-influenced humid subtropical in the northeast, dry-winter tropical savanna in the center, east, and south, hot steppe in the center and northwest, tropical monsoon in the southwest, and hot desert in the northwest. Temperatures range from −13 °C (8.6 °F) in winter to 40 °C (104 °F) in summer. The average annual temperature is 21.6 °C (70.8 °F).

Economy
India mainly imports from China, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates and exports to the United States, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates. Its top exports are refined oil, rice, and sugar.

Culture
India is notable for its religious diversity, with Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Extended families live together in the same house.
Men traditionally wear a loose tunic (kurta), a piece of cloth wrapped around the legs to resemble pants (dhoti) or a skirt (lungi), and a turban (pagri). Women wear a top (choli) and a fabric wrapped around the body with one end over the shoulder (sari).

The Indian diet is based on meat, rice, and vegetables. Specific Indian holidays include Republic Day on January 26, Independence Day on August 15, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, which honors Mahatma Gandhi.

Melihat Dunia dari Layar Kaca

Sampai saat ini hal apa yang sebenarnya masih belum kuperoleh? Sandang? Setiap hari sudah bisa ganti baju. Pangan? Tidak hanya untukku, keluargaku, bahkan hewan peliharaan bapak terjamin isi perutnya. Papan? Alhamdulillah rumah yang dihuni saat ini sudah lebih dari cukup. Lalu apa?
Scroll-scroll beranda Burung Biru, ada relasi dari kenalanku yang me-retweet sebuah postingan yang menceritakan sebuah kisah nyata dari negara Bhārat Gaṇarājya. Betapa perjuangan untuk hidup sekelompok manusia yang katanya “terendah” dilakukan dengan cukup keras dalam tingkatan kasta yang membelenggu. Hingga untuk mengenyam bangku pendidikan saja, arah gerak mereka terbatasi oleh stereotip orang yang merendahkan kemampuannya. 
Bergeser ke arah barat, terdapat negara yang mayoritas muslim ternyata memiliki sisi kelam yang sebelumnya tidak pernah kubayangkan. Anak-anak sudah harus mencari uang sendiri, bahkan dengan menjual diri, hingga terjerat obat terlarang. Hal se-ekstrim itu bahkan dianggap biasa dan menjadi rahasia umum. Di usia sebelia itu harusnya mereka mendapat kasih sayang orang terdekat dan tumbuh dengan selayaknya.
Kebebasan atas diri mereka sendiri harus tergadaikan untuk mencukupi kebutuhan hidup. Mereka tahu hal tersebut tidak benar, tapi untuk bertahan segala hal semacam itu bisa dilakukan. 
Lalu secara refleks, aku membandingkan apa yang telah kumiliki dan hidup yang telah kujalani. Meskipun kadang tidak selalu berjalan seperti yang diinginkan, namun kebutuhan primer sudah bisa tercukupi. Bersyukur, aku semakin bersyukur untuk dapat tumbuh di keluarga dan lingkungan yang baik. 
Di akhir tulisan ini aku berharap dan berdoa, semoga seluruh manusia bisa merasakan kemanusiaan yang semestinya. Semua orang setara, semua memiliki hak yang sama. Hanya tingkat masalah yang dihadapi memang berbeda. Semoga seluruh makhluk berada dalam lindungan-Nya.
