The plywood was manufactured for used in the making of transportation vehicles. Their lightweight plywood was reinforced (Plymeti) and moldable (Plymold) and became an important resource in the aviation industry. Hasko plywood was used on The Spirit of St, Louis, Charles Lindberg's 1927 flight across the Atlantic Ocean. The material gained international notability and was used in the British fighter bomber de Havilland Mosquito. In the early 1940s a production supervisor, Walter Gibian used some scrap materials to create trays. This led to the development of the mass-produced decorative tray line which surpassed the company's imagination. The trays, and two products after that, changed the direction of the company in post-WWII years.
