Deans face is so good.. to me that looks like a "what the fuck is going on???!!" Kind of look..

Rio goes from beating the shit out of dean, slapping him, humiliating him and being a scary menace to being just soft.. he's walking slowly towards beth, calling her Elizabeth, slowly taking the gun off her hand, softly speaking to her, telling her "it's alright, it's okay", gently pushing her hair and caressing her chin and he feels genuine.. and dean is just sitting there speechless..

Because dean gets violent criminal unleashing his anger on him but this gentleness doesn't make any fucking sense!

Instead of being too obvious, he chooses to satisfy his curiosity to see what happens next.

Wanted to get your thoughts on this.

I’ve seen quite a few people say that they believe Beth and Rio would never actually say I love you to each other if they ever came to that point. That it’d be too direct and vulnerable.

I honestly feel the complete opposite though. Yes, it would take a while and it would be done in a totally Rio-ish way, like he’d be being his usual smart ass self, but it would be clear and they would actually say those exact words. I just feel like to get to where they could feel that way about each other after everything, He’d want to let her know without any games.

It wouldn’t be cheesy or anything, but I’m picturing Rio being all “What’s got you confused, darlin’? Just because I fuckin’ fell in love with you, don’t mean you can try that shit on [common enemy]”

Anon, please write this fic. 🙏 I guarantee this would have an audience. Everyone loves a smirky soft Rio who lives for shocking Beth.

In a world of imagination, anything is possible. People change. People decide to make an effort where they haven’t before. I can see Brio developing all sorts of ways. Just because someone has a preference for a perpetually guarded Brio doesn’t mean that in a fictional universe they can’t exist otherwise. Although, I agree with you, the building blocks to get there are essential. I’m biased because I wrote them saying ILY. So clearly I saw a path to it, however sappy. I love the vision you have for this scenario. I think you should flesh it out and post it for us. 😁
