Best of Best 2019: Best of Best
Carole and Tuesday
Maybe I suck at showing that I do like shows with music seeing that I don’t watch a lot of them. Though, one of the things I try to appreciate is how is music is used into a show. Does it get some sort of emotion in me? Does it make my heart rush with excitement? Does it make a sad mood make me want to cry? Yeah. Those things are in every show but some just really know how to use that music to their advantage. Luckily, Carole and Tuesday hit all the right notes in all the right places plus more. That is why it is my Best of the Best 2019.
Carole and Tuesday was always on my watch list since I heard about it early summer. The problem is that it was a show that Netflix picked up and apparently Netflix does some weird thing where they won’t release the whole show on streaming until it is done and dubbed. That means I had to wait until Carole and Tuesday was on Netflix if I wanted to watch it. And even then I had to remember it was out because sometimes you just forget about shows until it is too late. At least I did. But that wasn’t a problem this time because my whole timeline was talking about Carole and Tuesday when it was eventually release on Netflix.
And then came this year’s Best of Best and Christmas Break. I needed something to use for Best Dress and had time to stream a show. So I decided that I will at least finish Part One of Carole and Tuesday before the end of the year. That was it. All I was going to do!
And I was wrong! Because I apparently saw the next six and could have finished it if New Years didn’t get in the way.
Carole and Tuesday is a show about two young ladies from completely different backgrounds. One of them is a referee from Earth while the other is the daughter of a politician. Both of them with a song in their heart that needs to come out. Though, they came together one day as Carole was singing on a bridge while Tuesday was alone in the city after running away from home. Together they both found that they love making music. Now they want to make it big on a Mars where music is made by AI and they don’t a dime to their name. All they have is a piano, guitar, a notebook filled with songs, a potentially crazy washup music manager and some nerdy guy who should have lost his job with how much attention he was giving the girls. From there, all they have to do is become famous.
This show has some sort of charm to it that draws you in. It is a story about two hard working girls who want to make it into the music industry and you just want to see how they do it. You get to watch their struggles with trying to go viral with a mixture of modern day things like YouTube and Instagram while using old fashion things such as playing in music clubs. The show didn’t have a lot of weird tropes and the ones that it did use just didn’t bother as much as I thought they would. They had an “American Idol on Mars” thing that was used to help jump start their career which worked nicely. Even though their first round match up lost because of a lie but it was cool. Overall, just normal girls trying to get into music on Mars.
I also love the ascetic of the show too! Whoever was the showrunner really wanted to hit that music theme! Each episode was named after a different real life song! From episodes titled “Walk This Way” to “Dancing Queen”. Each one of them tried to tie into what that episode was about. For the episode where they tried to make a music video (which was early in their rise the fame phase), the episode was “Video Killed the Radio Star”. It was so fitting. That was also when I realize when each episode was titled after a song. Even better, they had records of the song as eyecatchers. Not sure if they are the actual record but it was cool. Really liked these touches.
The show used a lot of different types of music from not only from Carole and Tuesday but to the other singers as well. There was one guy who did Rapping Opera to another who did techno. Carole and Tuesday did a great job in building a world on Mars that really show how big the world was for the pair of musicians. Each episode was self-contained but kept you wanting to keep going to see what happen next to push these girls even more up the ranks. May it be from attention on social media to billboard rankings.
Either way, Carole and Tuesday was a great watch if you wanted something with some good music, solid characters, exciting drama and great friends. After all, there is something nice when you can find people with a song in their heart and dreams in their head finally reaching the top.

Best of Best 2019: Best Dress/Friends
Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens
It isn’t hard to impress me when it comes to being well dressed. And being friends? Well, it is amazing when they look good together. Especially when they have been together since the beginning of time. So who else to pick for best friends that look great except for Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens.
Let go straight into this. Crowley and Aziraphale are more than best friends. The writing is on the wall. Where one goes, the other just so happens to be there. Is it chance? Maybe. Perhaps it is just faith saying they should be together. Either way, they were best friends for ages. One could say that they have been dating their best friend for millenniums. From the random get together in order to plan miracles and disasters to just let have some dinner. After all, it will be fun. They certainly knew how to eat in style and enjoy their time together. And as long as you are having fun with the other person then that is all that matters. That was certainly true for Crowley and Aziraphale.
It is amazing at how well they work well together. Great friends know how the other from inside and out. They do not work well when separated but when they come together then miracles can happen. It made me so happy when they met and were not lying to each other. Each time they met during the Son of Satan business, it hurt so much to see them work against each other. Though, when it was time to help the other then they would drive through flames for each other and raise from the dead. Which actually did happen! And that last ploy to act like each other was amazing! It worked out for them because their relationship was so strong!
One of the things I like is that they both really bring out the best and maybe worst out of the other. It is all about perspective. If it wasn’t for one or the other then they wouldn’t have done certain things. Maybe Crowley would have never found the nicer things in life. Maybe Aziraphale wouldn’t have learn to indulge in some of life’s temptations. Either way, a good couple help the other grow and have fun. Then again, each one of them was able to pull out the good and bastard in each other.
Just look at them! They have started their relationship since the beginning of time to now. From the ages they have fix up their outfits to look amazing from robes, rocking Shakespearian to three piece suits. And I have said several times that I love a great suit.
But lets talk about their fashion! Crowley and Aziraphale really do rock those suits in the current times. Though, they both wear them differently. Aziraphale really does have that prim and proper suit that looks great on him. The classic look of a kind older gentleman. Somebody that the queen would invite to a dinner party. Meanwhile, Crowley takes his suit and add some rock and roll to it. He is ready to take the stage and start a revolution. Funny thing is that maybe he did back in France. Either way, it is clear why the other demons dislike Crowley. While they let their appearance go down in the trash, Crowley was sinning while looking good. Something that they hated.
Crowley and Aziraphale have been doing their thing for ages. From early time where they were wearing slick robes to now with their suits. Crowley and Aziraphale have a friendship that is obvious more than just friends and in the end it saved the whole world. They are proving that they can be best of friends while looking good no matter the time.

Best of Best 2019: Best Villain
Chuck from Supernatural
I didn’t really have many villains that I liked. Yeah. They are bad but didn’t really hit that itch that I want from a villain. So I went with one that I respect. The big man himself. The one that is in control of it all. The man that is upstairs. Chuck from Supernatural.
You have to respect a man who thinks of the long game. Who doesn’t really think of himself as the villain. Instead, Chuck is a man who wants a good story. One that puts a smile on his face. Maybe we do not know if he really planned out the whole live or story of the Winchesters. Maybe he just simply let it happen and everything just so happen to fall in the way that made him laugh and cry. Actually, we do know that he threw some monsters at the boys just to see what happens. Chuck wrote a story that he liked and now it finally bit him in the butt. Or in reality, shot him the shoulder.
Either way, Chuck’s twisted way of thinking is pretty villainous. Chuck could have gotten involve by throwing a bone to John when it came to hunting down the demon that killed his wife. Some could say that Chuck could have done something when the Leviathans with all those teeth. You can even say that Chuck could have gotten more involved when Michael went crazy the first and second time. But Chuck didn’t. Instead he was busy marveling at his work with all the teeth that the Leviathans had.
It is crazy that this whole time, Chuck was there the whole time. Potentially knowing what is going on. Instead he did nothing. Perhaps this is a take on religion but lets go back to the story of Supernatural and why Chuck ends up being a solid villain. He knew what he was doing could destroy the world. He made these things in hopes that Team Free Will would do something. And when things got too close to home for him then he went to the Winchesters for help. Is that slimy? Yes. It is. He was really hoping that the Winchesters would kill Amara, his own sister. In the end, they made up but apparently went their separate ways. And when Chuck was in trouble, he did the same song and dance but instead of going to the Winchesters it was somebody else. Chuck went to Amara for help. And when that didn’t work, Chuck went to his old number one fan and simply erase their existence to plot revenge on the people who he wants to hurt.
Like any good villain will do.
What matters now is that Chuck is now taking a proactive approach to his story. He is activity trying to kill the Winchesters to make a story that satisfy his twisted sense of humor. If not kill them then at least hurt somebody that they know like…Jody…Donna…Eileen. Pretty much everybody on the Winchesters’s speed dial.
That is if they drop it but to be honest. Even if they don’t drop it, Chuck may just go back to his story just because he want to see it happen. After all, a good writer loves to see their story come to a proper end and we all know that Chuck loves a good story.

Best of Best 2019: Best Couple
Fitz and Simmons from Agents of SHIELD
This one was a tough one. I had two people who I wanted to use for Best Couple but in the end of the day I had to ask a really important question.
If I was going to write or read fanfic then who would it be?
And I answered Fitz and Simmons from Agents of SHIELD.
There are couples would who die for each other and do anything to be reunited with the other. After all, that is what happen with Fitz and Simmons in the last season. Simmons went into the depths of space and pretty much almost killed her crew for Fitz. She even had questionable drugs that led to trippy moments with her best friend. All for the sake of Fitz.
And don’t you love a good love story where they winning couple finally meet each other only for the other to get pulled away? Isn’t that fun.
No. The answer is no. But we come back next week wanting more in hopes that they will finally come back together. And that is what happen with Fitz and Simmons. Simmons did what she had to do and made friends with Enoch to see if there was a way to get Fitz back. That is when Fitz’s new best friend who isn’t Mack made friends with Simmons.
In the end, this season really did push the limits of this couple. It is hard enough that Fitz and Simmons have to deal with each other on a physical plane. It was in this season that they had to deal with each other in a mental state and face each other fears. We all knew what kind of demons Fitz has to face with The Doctor. After all, it seems like he comes back every time and Simmons finds ways to deal with him. Now we saw Simmon’s evil side as a psychopath. In the end we learn one important thing. No matter what timeline, Fitz and Simmons will always love each other. Even if they are evil.
It has been a crazy ride with Fitz and Simmons since season one. Last season we saw Fitz an Simmons get married only to kill Fitz. Then we saw Simmons travel into Deep Deep Space to find Fitz and deal with them falling in love all over again to propose. Again. All to show that their love and survive anything to the point of changing the future as many times as they can. At least, people depend on them to work together to change the future. Now, whatever happens from this point on is up in the air because once again these two are separated but it seems like their relationship is going to be put to the test through time and space in order to save the future. Hopefully they can get a happy ending at the end of the summer.

Best of Best 2019: Best Female
Jody from Supernatural
There are plenty of tough women but Jody is one of the toughest. But this category isn’t about being the toughest. It is about being the best and she is pretty much the best there is. Especially in a show about fighting demons, monsters and family.
Maybe I am speaking too soon when it comes to picking Jody for my Best Female. After all, I am missing a huge chunk of her development seeing that I haven’t seen her early episodes. Though, from what I have seen, Jody is a pretty tough woman. She is the sheriff, fights monsters beside the Winchesters and basically somebody the boys can depend on if they need something to be taken care of.
I can go on about Jody but you pretty much know more about her then I do. Heck, just a few days ago I found out she had a son who was a zombie that ate her husband. Maybe you told me that when she was your Best a few years ago. I just read about it on her wiki page. Either way. I guess I should say why I really picked her as my Best Female.
If there is anybody in Supernatural who I hope doesn’t get killed then it is Jody. When Chuck mention her by name during his talk with the boys, it brought me chills because Jody is maybe the most normal out of everybody on the show. The Hunter World was brought into her life and everything she has done since her introduction has been her choice. She has helped the Winchesters during their big world ending plots but never have these plots came to her. As far as I know…Besides that. Now Jody has a new family in the form of Claire, Alex, Patience and to some degree Donna. (Look, she called Donna during Wayward Sisters episode and it seems like Donna comes over to tell Minnesota jokes to the girls at times so that counts for something.) Either way, Jody seems to have the most to lose when the poop hits the fan with her kids willing to jump in the line of dangers along with her. During that raid with the British Men of Letters compound, I was worried for her and finch when bullets were flying. While the Hunters got shot and died, Jody kept pushing through and didn’t get hurt. That is proof enough of her strong will and skill to stand next to the Winchesters. This wasn’t the first or the last time Jody has come along for a Winchester hunt. She has pretty much push the Winchesters to join her on something spooky that lurks in Sioux Falls.
And she does all of this along with raising three kids and being sheriff of a small town? That is pretty awesome. The supernatural stuff may have lost her original family but she made a new one that can kick spooky butt while also stand tall next to the Winchester as Free Will B-Team. Hopefully Jody and her family will survive whatever stuff happens in the second half of the season.

Best of Best 2019: Best Fight
Red Riot’s Fights from My Hero Academia (Season 4)
Just to clearify, I am talking about Kirishima’s fights against Blade Thug and Rappa.
Red Riot aka Eijiro Kirishima knows he has a problem. He can’t create huge explosions or level a building with a punch. All he can do his Quirk can do is harden his body. Nothing flashy. Nothing impressive. This was a problem that he had to face head on when he was assigned to create his Ultimate Move.
These fights show his solution to Kirishima’s problem. After all, he needed to inspire confidence in the people he is trying to recuse. In these fights, Kirishima put his resolve and chivalrous spirit on the line to bet on his Quirk. He knew that going into his fights that he can’t do anything flashy. It wasn’t in his Quirk. Instead, Kirishima decided to focus on taking all the hits. If he was strong enough to endure all the hits that villains throw at him then that is all he needed to do to save people. After all, he just needs one good hit to take them down.
And that leads him to his Ultimate Move that Kirishima used in the fights that I loved this year. Unbreakable.
Kirishima’s Unbreakable move is a representations of his resolve and chivalrous spirit. He hardens to his maximum potential so he can take any hit that villains can throw at him. May it be thousands of blades or a fury of punches. Kirishima plans to endure them all. This Quirk and Ultimate Move allows him to be fearless and have no regrets as he goes in head first to save the day. Kirishima’s ultimate attack and fighting may not be pretty but it looks really cool as he throws punch after punch. May it be to be the main point of focus for attacks or simply be a shield for others to go in for the finishing blow. Kirishima plans to be that person to be the ultimate shield so others can be saved.
There isn’t going to be any flashy moves during these fights that I want to show you. Instead you are going to see Kirishima’s spirit on display as he takes all the hits. Even if his Hardening cracks, Kirishima is going to get back in the fight and put it all on the line as he accomplish his mission to be unbreakable in the line of danger.

Best of Best 2019: Best Robot
Enoch from Agents of SHIELD
Enoch is the worst best friend that you could ever ask for. Maybe he isn’t even the best robot seeing that he betray his whole race. Combine those two things together and he makes a pretty solid robot. We saw him forge a friendship with Fitz back in Season 5 and now he is back in Season 6 making a new friendship with Fitz. This time it is filled with pain and misfortune. Granted, it is mostly from Fitz where misfortune follows him like a lost puppy. Either way, Enoch is there for the whole trip and we get to spend more time with him as we see these two brave a brand new frontier. SPACE!
Usually we think of robots as emotionless beings and Enoch does a great job in doing that. Though, he is loyal to a tee. Especially to somebody who he learns to become his friend. There was plenty of good reasons to leave Fitz to die in space but he made it his mission to guide Fitz to the future. That mission messed up only an hour into their trip but he made sure to keep at it even to the point where Fitz was compromised and ejected from his frozen ice tube. And yes. The robot could have left Fitz at the gambling planet but he still stuck with him till Simmons came. Enoch was reunited with his people who are now without a planet and knew that the key to getting it back involved torturing Fitz and Simmons. Yet, there was the bond of friendship that made him throw all those things away because he cared for the wellbeing of Fitz and Simmons. Mostly Fitz but he knew that Simmons had to be safe too or Fitz would throw a fit.
I could go on and on about how Enoch came at the eleventh hour to save Fitz and Simmons from alien robot invasion. After all, that was not seen at all and proof that Enoch goes well beyond his duty as the robot friend that Fitz never knew he didn’t want. Enoch proves that just because you are a robot doesn’t mean you can have a heart. And while that heart wasn’t part of his programing, it sure did make him fun to watch as he became the Best Robot in Fitz’s life. Especially because the other robot in Fitz’s life was AIDA and we all know how that ended.

Best of Best 2019: Best Male
My friend and I take part in something call Best of Best where we pick our best from 2019. This range from certain categories and we can only pick from tv shows that we watched in 2019. They can be new or old but as long as they were watched by us in 2019 for the first time then the character and shows can qualify for our little end of the year award show. We use to do it between ourselves via Yahoo Instant Messager but that is gone. Now we do it via Tumblr. This year I have decided and remember to post up my picks. Our Best of the Best involves a reason why we choose this person and change our display image to reflect our picks. We also show off some clips which may or may not be shown.
With that said, lets start with Best Male! Best Male: Mirio Togata (My Hero Academia)
Mirio Togata is in the Big Three at UA High School. Though, it wasn’t an easy rise for him as he had to struggle during his high school career to reach this spot in his senior year. Mirio’s Quirk is called Permeation which allows him to slip though anything but it is really hard to control. It is even hard to make good use if you want to become a hero. That didn’t stop Mirio when he set his sights on becoming a hero after being saved by one. He worked hard to gain control of his Permeation Quirk to mold it into something that can be used to make him the strongest hero at the school and to set him up as a strong contender as top hero after graduation.
Mirio’s strength isn’t just in his mastery of his quirk but also in his ability to raise others around him. His sunny disposition has helped encourage his timid childhood friend Tamaki to become a strong hero himself and raise to the rank of The Big Three alongside with Mirio. Though it doesn’t stop there. After a display of what it takes to become a top hero by Mirio, this pushed Deku even more to become stronger and take a work study with the same agency that Mirio is doing his. It was this moment that Deku and Mirio met a challenge that pushed them even hard to their goal of being a top hero that involves a little girl who they failed once to save and are now given a second chance to save.
Mirio is one of those characters that you can really see him being the main character of another story if given the chance. He is that guy that everybody likes and really push others to do their best. He may seem like a perfect character but the failure of not saving that little girl really hit him hard. Especially because his hero name, Lemillion, is a reference to his goal to save a million people. If he couldn’t save one little girl then how could he even dream to save a million? Even with everything against him, Mirio will do what he needs to do to save just one little girl. He hasn’t been around long but the focus between Mirio and Deku really shows how strong of a character he has. Mirio as Lemillion is a preview of what these freshmen heroes need to be if they wish to amount to greatness. They will need the heart, charisma and strength if they ever want to become great heroes. All of these things can be found in Mirio which makes him a Best Male.
