I was going to put these in the order that I published, but ultimately decided to deviate a little from the original lineup.
For my next timeline, I've decided to do Chang, my baby goober 🥰 And this is also the first time I do a timeline with five pics, because there’s so much to discuss about this boy 😁
Headcanon info below!
Kid: As a child, Chang lived a relatively normal life. He had a nice home, and a loving family that took great care of him. His father was once a silk farmer and his mother was really into nature and enjoyed planting trees and flowers all around the house. Much of Chang’s childhood was spent exploring his family’s garden, and he was also wildly imaginative.
Chang also loved to draw a lot. He would spend time drawing pictures of plants and animals that passed by his home every day. So his family decided to save up money to get him his very own sketchbook and pencils to draw on.
(These are just my headcanons about his birth parents, I don’t know much else. If anyone can help me out, I’m open to suggestions…)
Early Preteen: Before the events of The Blue Lotus.
When the Japanese occupy Shanghai, Chang and his parents had to go into hiding. However, it wasn't enough to protect his parents from Japanese soldiers who broke into his home. Chang's mother told him to go hide in the closet once they heard loud banging on their door. Of course, Chang would have never imagined that those would be his mother's final words before she and her husband were shot at gunpoint.
After his parents were killed, young Chang wound up living on the streets, destitute and homeless. Left starving and vulnerable, Chang had to get creative in surviving on his own. He resorted to pickpocketing to get money for food, and in some cases, would steal food to feed himself. He managed to get away with it for a while, until he was eventually caught by local policemen. So Chang was later sent to an orphanage in the hopes that the people there would straighten him out.
Early teen: During the events of The Blue Lotus
Chang has been living in the orphanage for some time, after he was sent there by police to be straightened out. However, he didn’t exactly fit in with the other kids. He found it hard to adapt to a new environment, as he was plucked from the streets. He often had a habit of sneaking out, but as always, he wound getting caught and sent back.
And as if by ironic coincidence, the orphanage ends up being destroyed during a flood. Chang was the unlucky one and wound up getting swept away by the flood, nearly drowning. He is immediately rescued by Tintin, and they soon become friends after reflecting on each other’s experiences of how the world perceives them.
Teen: Chang is now living with his newly adopted family, the Wangs. Even if they had met for a short time, Chang kept thinking of Tintin and wrote to him every day. However, he still feels a bit apprehensive about the sudden change in environment, seeing how he first lived on the streets, then an institutional facility, and wound up nearly drowning.
Mr. and Mrs. Wang start noticing this affecting Chang’s personal life and education, so they decide to send him to London to live with his uncle for some time. However, along the way, his plane ends up crashing in the Himalayas while en route to Kathmandu. Once again left to survive on his own, Chang becomes hopeless thinking that no one will ever rescue him. Until a chance encounter with the yeti (also Tintin nearly risking life and limb to save him!) gave him some sliver of hope.
Current: Chang is now a college student in London, studying art history in Bristol. He also decides to get into photography, suggested by his friend Maxine(my OC). It took him a while to get used to using a camera, but with help from Maxine, he got very good at photography. He is also best friends with her younger sister Hanna, with whom he had a brief fling with.
He also takes part in a cultural study exchange program, which let him travel around. Of course, he couldn’t believe his luck when he found that he was heading to Brussels for this exchange. He and Tintin finally meet up again, and catch up on everything that has happened since they last met. And soon enough, their friendship starts to grow into something more…
There are a few more timelines I want to get through, so stay tuned!

Well, I guess you came to this answer to know the best possible answer from an experienced professional.
There are indeed multiple IT colleges but, here are some of my personal recommendations for you.
Tumblr media
In recent years, the IT course has gained popularity in Nepal, among many others.
Businesses rely on Information Technology to be more productive; this is the profession that helps them operate successfully and maximize productivity. Nepal is a developing nation with several new firms dependent on IT for success.
In an age when almost everyone uses technology, institutions and organizations are required to include it. IT facilitates behind-the-scenes activity such as websites and advertising banners, and the potential applications are limitless.
Nepal has several colleges and universities that provide IT degrees, but first, let us look at why you should study it.
Reasons to study Information technology:

· IT gives you work flexibility. You may work individually as a programmer or in IT teams. Depending on the job, you may work from home or in the office.
· Working in IT pays well. Nepal’s average software engineer pay is Rs. 5,70,613.
· As said, IT is a booming industry in our nation. IT positions will always be in demand as new businesses and tech organizations launch, current ones develop, and new technologies are introduced.
· Studying IT includes programming and animations, and for those who prefer them, the work will never become old as long as they have enthusiasm. Programming is for folks who appreciate formulas and problem-solving. If you have the right attitude and energy, this work won’t be dull.

Let me introduce myself, I was a Mechanical Engineer who quits the regular 9 am to 5 pm day job and starts traveling the world from Chennai.
I am on a mission to showcase anyone can travel the world you don’t have to be rich,
I am on a streak to break the myth that you need luxury and money to have fun and experience the best of adventure. And here, you will see my journey of how and why I am doing so!
Nearly, 66% of people find travel a very expensive and luxurious activity to take up. But I don’t want anyone to miss out on this amazing provision in life. My goal is to prove that travel can be taken up as a recreational activity by anyone who has even a little spark to experience the joy of visiting a new place and making friends from a different culture.
I made research on how to travel in a cheap and safest way as a solo traveler, so that’s how it all started once you started loving your passion you will automatically start things to make it happen
I started my journey on March 6th from Chennai by hitch-hiking (free lift) all the way from Chennai through Nellore, Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Agra, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bhimdatta, Butwal, Lumbini, Chitwan, Pokhara, Mardi Himal to Kathmandu (present)
Traveled more than 4010 km only by Hitchhiking.
No Bus, No Train, No Flight.
Still, now I just spent around 3866 INR rupees only.
I have all the proofs and pictures with me!
How I am travelling i the cheapest way, what all things I do?
When it comes to travel you have spend lot for three basic things – Transportaion, Food, Accommodation.
For Transportation : I travel all over the places only by Hitchhiking –  Private car, Motor bike, Trucks, Mini Truck, Caravan, Van, etc.
So I never spend on transportation even it is in the city or highway or whatever my mode of transportation is only by Hitchhiking – if I don’t get lift I walk further way for a nice place to get lift, so based on the situation I change my journey that’s why I travelled more than 4000 km.
So while travelling with an unknown person I use to have a good conversation and make them friends, we share stories, buzz, eat food together.
Lot of miracles happened in my life by hitchhiking only.
For Accommodation :
I use Couch surfing application it helps me 80% to stay in places where ever I go no matter they are male or female, no matter they have sleeping bed or not I will stay in and adjust to the condition, so 90% I get a place to sleep.
Even if I didn’t find a accommodation I have sleeping bag and tent so where ever I go even in the dramatic or worst situation I don’t care I find temple, stupa, Church, Mosque, School, College and place my tent.
And the best part in using couch-surfing is you can experience the real local food, religion, lifestyle, activities and feel the hospitality of the different area and countries.
For Food:
I use to eat dry fruits – dry grapes or I soak the chickpea and eat it in the morning good nutrition and easy to eat, 90% I use to avoid eating in Restaurant.
In urgent case I buy vegetables or fruits cook myself and eat, that’s how I save money in food,
Some times I even volunteer or do work exchange because I have photography skills so instead of paying money for food or accommodation I give wonderful photos,
This is how I traveled 4000 km more than 3  months by spending 3866 inr only I had lot of patients to achieve it
I went one step further and did trekking without even spending single dollar,
Yes… I know It’s hard to believe but with a bit of luck miracles can happen and before you know it you to could be standing atop the Himalayas asking yourself, “how did I do this!?”
Because it’s all about courage, faith and  never give up, believe in what you do
It’s my first trekking in my life I never  did trekking before in my life but I challenged myself to create awareness and did it.
I packed my foods, volunteered in the mountain hotels and did  work exchange for wonderful  photograph
At last 5 days of Trekking and I’ve made it to 4180m above sea level with draw dropping views of the Himalayan mountain range.
For the first time, I did mountain Trekking – even though alone, no guide, no one, only mountains and me.
By the way I spread awareness about environment-friendly lifestyle and how to conserve our mother nature. Will let them know that how their work culture and industrialization is killing the essence of life.
I planted trees in where ever I travel all the way to conserve our mother nature,
I  did free lecture in Kathmandu on how to travel the world in safe & cheapest  way! – https://www.facebook.com/groups/191700930881284/permalink/2516097248441629/?app=fbl
what is travel, how to travel in the cheapest way, how to get to any point of the planet with minimal cost. How to move around the planet — by cars, trucks, bike, van, locomotives for free.
How to spend the night in an unfamiliar city, without using hotels.
How to get communicate with locals, police, learn languages, eat in different countries, crossing borders. How to start a trip for someone who has never tried! Is it true that time and money are interchangeable? The dangers: real and invented, how to avoid them. Health, communication, optimism, and constancy of intentions – how to keep it on during the long trip.
Travelling in Nepal is my best moment Yes!!!
Nepal – wow, what a beautiful you are!!!
you are one of the peaceful country in the world.
the people, mountains, rivers, lake, stupa, monastery, temple
especially “people” wow I love you Nepal, literally I fall in love with your culture, food, hospitality.
Infinity kisses to you!!!!!!!!!
I am travelling for more than 2 month, I never had a plan for 2 month but it happened.
I stayed in lot of homes, in Nepal.

Kathmandu Feb ‘18
The airplane landing into Kathmandu doesn’t disappoint. It’s the harshest drop to the runway I ever remember experiencing in an airplane, a real jolt.  This is an international airport with no instruments to help the pilots land. They have to do it by sight. Even recently since this writing there was a significant accident  at the Kathmandu landing strip.  Several major accidents have occurred here over the last couple of decades. They have the worst reputation of any airport in the world with whole planes full of passengers losing their lives in this place. Nevertheless, as we make our way off the plane and into the airport, the laid back atmosphere and warm greetings work on my heart. I like this place as a welcome relief from the frenetic and overcrowded India.  We are greeted with “Namastes” and smiles.  The air temp is cool in a pleasant way.
Kathmandu would be a place where I would speak my truth over and over as well as feel a little trapped.   As we leave the airport and are greeted by the hotel shuttle service, a few young men whisk up our luggage and take it to the van.  Then, when we look at them blankly when they want a tip, they turn angry. We thought  they were with the hotel and the tipping happened later The hotel van driver smiles benignly at this interchange. It turns out the luggage carriers were not with the hotel but are youth than hang out around the airport, small-time entrepreneurs hoping to make a few coins in tips.  Keith and I are culurally confused for a moment. “Should we tip them” we ask our driver, as we consider the situation of people grabbing our luggage like magicians engaging in some kind of slight of hand with tourists.  Unemployment is widespread in Nepal with some 2400 Nepalis leaving the country per day to work abroad.   The streets are empty as we arrive late night to the Yellow Pagoda Hotel and Conference Center.
I spend several days discussing theology  at the International Conference of Unitarian Universalists at the Yellow Pagoda.  The ground rules are laid out for our full days of small group discussions, celebrations and worship services: listen respectfully to other participants without commenting on what you just heard, consider and determine the four foundations of your faith and beliefs, and some other things hard to recall.  I spend a few days fearfully considering the people across from me at our small group discussions, taking a breath, and speaking my truths into the room, even though I know my views tend to be met with a negative reaction in Unitarian circles, at least in the U.S.   I think there is a loving source that is guiding and surrounding me I say.  I perceive that at death we return to the light.  My beliefs are informed by my various mystical moments I’ve experienced over the years and through my practices of yogic, shamanic, Sufi, and more--a hodgepodge--of  disciplines.  My creativity forms one of the four foundations of my faith because as I engage in it the universe reveals itself to my heart. That fourth foundation of my faith I list as compassion, doing good, service, love, basically the Judeo-Christian ethic which no one can argue with.  While most of my views and felt experience are discordant with the people at my discussion tables who are my same race, color and geographic background, white people from the West; curiously, I am right in sync and find resonance with a few women of color around me--a petit African American Unitarian from Rwanda, who says that at death that “we go to the place of all souls;” and, an even more diminutive women from India who shares some similar common views. We make an odd looking trio at our table of discussion, me a tall white aging male Westerner with these two women from Africa and India.  The other white Western men at the table, who appear a little bit older than me, all chime  in in consanance with their mechanistic, atheistic views as if they have all been molded by the same culture, religion, family unit, etc.  The theology professor, from Chicago, present at the conference running our discussions and another person, a prominent minister in Unitarian Universalism,  look at me with a twinkle of interest and acceptance over the Creativity piece of my beliefs, finding something in that statement provocative for them.    My heart is nervous and stressed speaking things that I generally leave unsaid in what I perceive as a general hostility in the Unitarian world towards, shall we say, in general, diversity.   After a week at the Yellow Pagoda, we, Keith and I, move onto my our next assignment, which is musical, as was our role at the Unitarian conference, where we had provided some music along with many other musicians in attendance.
Our next role in Kathmandu is at “Answer Nepal,” defined as American and Nepali Student and Women’s Educational Relief, where Keith gives a talk titled “Happiness” to a large group of college students.  To Illustrate Keith’s points, I sing “Wonderful World,” the old American standard--  “I see skies of blue, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and for and I think to myself...what a wonderful world!”  I sing this to illustrate the principle of Gratitude, which is one of Keith’s talking points for his “sermon,” if you will.  My singing skill is more brilliant at this event than anything in my  memory over the past decade of so.  It’s as if I have re-found my voice, which was lost somewhere or dormant.  Keith and I teach music daily for a few hours a day to the college students, which we both perceive turns out to be not the best use of our time or anyone else’s time involved for that matter.
In Kathmandu, at Boudinath Stupa, I walk into my first Tibetan Monastery of many I would visit on our nine week journey in India, Nepal and Sikkim.  I get my first glimpse of a figure in a red hat on the monastery wall, a painting I am wondering about. I would see the figure over and over and it would become etched in my memory.  This was Padmasambhava, the person who brought Buddhism to Tibet!  I relished in my first visions of the non-stop, covering-every- nook-and-cranny paintings and designs, using bold colors, that characterize Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and I reflected on a past life sense I have of having been a monk within a Tibetan culture.  I felt very stimulated and taken by the notion of the lotus-jewel in the center of the heart, which is both a mantrum--”om mani paddle hum”--and a belief or point of view in Tibetan Buddhism, that there is this kernel of goodness and light within the human being that can be found within and expressed and lived into creation.  Couldn’t I be subsumed into the lotus-jewel in the center of the heart?  Wouldn’t that be the ultimate destiny?  To be that jewel.  This feeling would follow me around, like an energy chasing me or dancing with me on the rest of our pilgrimage over the next couple of months.
We circumnambulated Bhoudinath Stupa in Kathmandu, the largest Buddhist stupa in the world and, I believe, a unesco world heritage site, as well as definitely a major pilgrimage site.  While we were tucked away in our hotel conference, Shivaratri was happening, an event which brings twelfth thousand or so pilgrims every year from India for a Hindu celebration.  The main Hindu center for Shivaratri in Kathmandu is along the Ganges, for we are near her, as we were in Varanasi just a couple weeks prior.  This is her place farther up into the Himalayas.  Legend says that the Ganges River and a couple of other holy rivers in this region are none other than Siva’s long locks of hair falling down from the high Himalayan Mountain named Kailish.  I had remembered hearing just recently while we were in Varanasi that many people were on their way from Varanasi to Kathmandu, I think especially that Sadhus, the wondering holy men of India,  to participate in Shivaratri; and magically, or synchronistically, we too had left from Varanasi to go to Kathmandu also, along with this migration of souls across the Indian-Nepali border for this yearly time of pilgrimage.

In Chinese culture, perhaps there are fewer symbols that are more well-known to outsiders than the yin and the yang. It represents the balance between opposite forces to keep things in harmony.
Babar Hayat, the 26-year-old Hong Kong captain, is an embodiment of such duelling dualities. “I’m a quiet person,” he says in matter-of-fact manner during a sit-down interview with ESPNcricinfo ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
That’s putting it mildly. Despite his imposing physical presence and reputation as one of the biggest hitters on the Associate scene, it takes some effort to coax words out of Hayat. Yet, his resume speaks for itself.
Leading scorer in the most recent edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Three centuries in his first six first-class matches. Third overall in runs in the WCL Championship. Hitting 16 off the final over to beat Afghanistan in a T20I for the first time, at the 2015 World T20 Qualifier in Ireland, and sending Hong Kong to the World T20 in India.
Those are heady accomplishments for someone who never really had any ambition to become a professional cricketer, let alone captain his adopted homeland when he first arrived on Hong Kong shores as a 15-year-old. The transformation from a once timid boy to a quiet yet confident man – especially with a bat in hand – was made possible through hard work, grit and perseverance over the last 11 years.
“When I started playing cricket, nobody knew me. I didn’t have any fame,” Hayat says of the path that led him to where he is today. Growing up in Attock, Pakistan, he played tape-ball cricket regularly, but when his father, a banker who had been living on and off in Hong Kong for 45 years, took the family to the island for good, Hayat had never played with a seasoned leather ball.
Hayat didn’t know any English, or Cantonese either, when he found himself in Kowloon as a teenager. He was shy to begin with, and the language barrier made his transition to a new homeland more challenging. Enrolling at the Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College for his high school years in Hong Kong gave him a small buffer, allowing him to interact with students who might know Urdu, and also provided him a gateway into a whole new cricket community.
“It’s a culture within our dressing room where people tend to gravitate toward the best player, and that’s why we looked at Babar as being one of those characters”
Simon Cook, Hong Kong head coach
“It was the first or second week of school and he was playing tape-ball cricket,” Aizaz Khan, a former high school classmate of Hayat’s and long-time Hong Kong team-mate, says of their first interaction, just a few weeks after Hayat had arrived in Hong Kong.
“We had a big ground and I saw him smacking some big sixes. He looked very good and played some big shots and I was thinking whether I can get him to play in the Under-17 club team of ours since I was the captain.
“I spoke to his cousin, who was in the same school, and asked, ‘Can you get Babar to play for us?’ Babar was new and didn’t really know anybody there. The first game he went there, he scored 40-plus and hit some huge sixes. The coach got him to play in the Sunday senior league. Since then, Babar’s been scoring runs everywhere.”
Though he had only newly begun playing with a hard ball, it didn’t take long for Hayat to make his presence felt in Hong Kong’s domestic scene. In his second season playing in the Sunday premier division, he was named Player of the Year while representing Vagabonds CC. In demand, he was recruited to join the prestigious Kowloon CC for his third season, but Hayat says that despite the glamour, his still limited English language skills left him feeling uncomfortable in his surroundings, prompting a move to Little Sai Wan CC, where he got to work with former Hong Kong captain Munir Dar.
“They had a good structure while building up youngsters, Little Sai Wan,” Hayat says. “They always wanted young guys to come up, and gave chances. When we played club cricket in Hong Kong, we played four to five U-16 guys in the team in the high-standard premier league. When they grew up, after three or four years, they’d get better.”
Those opportunities as a teenager helped put him on the Hong Kong selection radar for junior teams. But he could not go to the 2010 U-19 World Cup in New Zealand – having migrating in 2007, he was just short of the required four years of residency to qualify for his new home. He did, however, make his senior team debut a year later as a 19-year-old, opening the batting while surrounded by 15,000 screaming Nepal fans at the 2011 Asian Cricket Council Twenty20 Cup in Kathmandu.
“That was my first tour and I was shocked when I saw all the people around,” Hayat says.

“It was really tough for me to play for Hong Kong. Every time when I would go to bat, I was feeling nervous. You can say I was not a proper cricketer. They just sent me as a floater, and I’d open with Irfan Ahmed. That was not a great tour for me. I did not perform for my first three or four tours.”
Part of the lack of confidence was the way in which his raw skillset, honed by tennis-ball bashing, was exposed against higher-class bowling.
“When I first saw him in the national set-up, he was a player who could control a game but didn’t have the skills to do that, to bat for long periods of time,” says Simon Cook, Hong Kong head coach, who first came across Hayat on the club scene in his previous position as head coach at Hong Kong Cricket Club. “He didn’t have the technique.”
Though his defence in particular was unrefined, Hayat’s mental toughness began to emerge as a dependable trait. It first showed up at the 2013 World T20 Qualifier in the UAE during a knockout match against Papua New Guinea. Having lost a final-ball heartbreaker to Nepal in the previous playoff match, Hong Kong had a second crack at clinching a maiden berth at a major ICC global tournament a day later. However, they needed to do it without captain Jamie Atkinson, who was injured in the loss to Nepal. The task became even more difficult when they collapsed to 19 for 4 inside the first four overs after choosing to bat.
Hayat started to rebuild the innings, first with his Little Sai Wan club team-mate Dar in a 35-run stand. A match-defining 62-run partnership with future New Zealand international Mark Chapman followed, and Hayat’s 48 off 47 balls carried Hong Kong out of trouble and to an eventual 29-run win.
Two summers later, at the next World T20 qualifier, in Ireland, Hayat would conjure up an even greater escape against Afghanistan, a team they had not beaten in six previous attempts in T20 cricket. Though Hong Kong had plenty of wickets in hand, the run rate started to climb in the final overs of chasing a target of 162.
“I didn’t want to bat. My legs were gone, my hamstrings were tired, my body was sore. I didn’t want to play the next game because I was so tired”
Hayat on struggling with his fitness
“We controlled for quite a lot of the game and then suddenly it started to get a bit dicey,” said Cook, who was then an assistant coach on the Hong Kong staff. “He was batting in the middle order, and coming into the final over I was actually very confident. I said to Charlie Burke, who was head coach, ‘As long as Babar is still there when we’re facing the last over, we’ll still win this.'”
As was the case in Abu Dhabi, Chapman and Hayat steered Hong Kong through a big chunk of the chase against Afghanistan with a 48-run stand, but Chapman fell to a full toss on the first ball of the final over, bowled by Mohammad Nabi, leaving 16 off five balls to win. Hayat came on strike for the second ball and clubbed a four and six to make it six off three balls.
A wide and a three followed, putting Hayat’s fresh partner, Tanwir Afzal, on strike with two needed off two. A calamitous dropped return chance that ended in a run-out by Nabi allowed Hayat to get back on strike for the final ball, with his old high-school friend Aizaz at the non-striker’s end. Despite being known as Hong Kong’s biggest basher, Hayat instead showed maturity and clear-headed thinking given the situation.
“When I went in and spoke to him, he wasn’t nervous or feeling the pressure,” Aizaz said. “He just said he’s not gonna go for a big hit, that he’d hit it along the ground, get one first and try to get the second, and that’s what happened. Nabi tried to bowl a quicker one and Babar just played it to long-off, toward extra cover, enough so we could get the second run.”
Early in 2016, Hong Kong headed to the Asia Cup T20 Qualifier for some crucial preparation ahead of the World T20. Hayat produced the highest score by an Associate player in T20I cricket, making 122 off 60 balls against Oman in a match more infamously remembered for Chapman being mankaded at a key moment in a five-run loss for Hong Kong. However, those involved on the Hong Kong side felt the bigger culprit for the loss was ironically Hayat – his poor fitness, to be precise, in the heat and humidity of Fatullah.
Babar blasts off during the World Cup Qualifiers IDI/Getty Images
“I was totally gone,” Hayat said. “I didn’t want to bat. My legs were gone, my hamstrings were tired, my body was sore. I didn’t want to play the next game because I was so tired. I didn’t want to mention it to the coaches because they knew my fitness wasn’t good because I was cramping.”
“He ended up on the losing side because he was over 100 kilos in weight and he wasn’t able to sustain his innings over 20 overs,” Cook said. “At that point, [122] was the third highest T20I score in any nation. So he had a fantastic innings, but his physical condition ended up costing us the game effectively. And it was that innings that cost him from being able to perform in the World T20 because he was so physically exhausted still, three weeks after that innings.”
At the opening round of the World T20 in India, Hayat turned in scores of 9, 0 and 15 as Hong Kong went winless. The spillover fitness issues from the Asia Cup hundred against Oman opened his eyes, and prompted the coaching staff to sit him down for a frank discussion.
“It was after those two back-to-back tournaments that we sat down outlining plans for the next four-year cycle,” Cook said. “I sat down with Babar at that point in player reviews and said to him: your weight is an issue. That was the time we were just converting to full-time contracts. The skinfolds, yo-yo tests, 20-metre sprints – the players were starting to become more accountable. It was no longer such a club-cricket environment of pitch up, play and go home. We had quite a harsh conversation. He took it on board and really rose to the challenge.
“The combination of a full-time contract, working with the Hong Kong Institute of Sport and their dieticians – he went from just over 100 kilos to 89 or 88 kilos prior to the 2016 WCL round five against Ireland and Scotland.”
“Whenever we’d see Babar at the gym, we’d all want to work hard and get fit”
Team-mate Aizaz Khan
Aizaz witnessed first-hand the work that Hayat put into shedding the weight. Hayat would often recruit him and one or two others for late-night runs above and beyond the afternoon training routine for squad players.
“Those two or three months, whenever we’d see Babar at the gym, we’d all want to work hard and get fit,” Aizaz says.
As his waistline got slimmer, Hayat’s run-scoring column got fatter. Early in 2017, he made 173 against Netherlands in their Intercontinental Cup clash, then scored two half-centuries in the one-dayers that followed. At the end of the year, he batted the better part of two days to score an unbeaten 214 against PNG.
“Between where he was in 2014 to where he is now, there’s a number of differences. One, he’s technically much, much better,” Cook said. “In 2014, he wasn’t particularly fit. He couldn’t bat for 50 overs potentially. His physical condition is much better and his technical ability to bat for long periods of time has allowed his free-scoring intent to now flourish.
“He can keep all the good balls out and continues to score very freely off the balls that are into his strength areas. A key area of development going forward is just giving him the ability to bat for long and not feel like he has to try to take scoring options because it’s a matter of time before he gets out.”
The mental fortitude Hayat has demonstrated, whether at the crease in key moments during crunch games or in waging a weight-loss battle in the gym, is something he has worked hard at spreading to the rest of his team-mates. It’s a trait that helped them in a hard-fought win over Afghanistan in Zimbabwe, their first ODI victory over a Full Member.
If Hong Kong make it through to the Super Sixes, there will be an uphill battle: they will need three wins and some help on tiebreakers to reach the World Cup. An equally daunting challenge may await them in the consolation bracket should they end up there, needing to secure two wins to keep ODI status, and essentially the funding that will keep players like Hayat on full-time professional contracts. Whatever the challenge, the Hong Kong squad will look for Hayat’s bat to set the tone.
“What you see is what you get with Babar,” Cook said. “He’s not one to stand up and give big Churchillian speeches and all of that sort of stuff. He’s very much ‘lead by example’ and the guys do follow him. It’s a culture within our dressing room where people tend to gravitate toward the best player and that’s why we looked at Babar as being one of those characters. We did feel he had the potential to really become a dominant force in Associate cricket and fortunately that has come true.”

My Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis: “You Should Eat More Fruit & Drink Juice”
New Post has been published on http://type2diabetestreatment.net/diabetes-type-1/my-type-1-diabetes-diagnosis-you-should-eat-more-fruit-drink-juice/
My Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis: “You Should Eat More Fruit & Drink Juice”
The following is an excerpt from Oren Liebermann’s new book, “The Insulin Express.”
The first doctor’s instructions to eat more fruit and drink more fruit juice were, in hindsight, both a blessing and a curse. The curse part is obvious. That doctor sent my blood sugar into the stratosphere, accelerating my downward spiral into diabetic ketoacidosis, a very dangerous condition where the body poisons itself. But I see it as a blessing for the exact same reason.
Without his terrible medical advice, I probably would’ve kept going for a few more weeks without visiting another doctor or hospital. I would’ve been in bad shape, but not horrible shape, hovering somewhere above the danger zone without plunging straight into it.
Because of his general lack of sound medical knowledge, my condition deteriorated so rapidly that I had no choice but to go to the hospital, and that’s where I finally got the help I needed (even if it took me two tries to find the right hospital). Once the doctors gave me insulin, I immediately put on weight, through both fluids and solids.
Since then, pharmaceutical companies have cranked out insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors and insulin pens and inhalable insulin—and the list goes on. Frankly, I don’t know whether to be thrilled about all of the medical advancements in the last fifty years or pissed off that no one has cured this disease in 3,500 years, so I politically plant myself somewhere in the middle. I will be content with my disease, thankful that, if treated well, it is a nuisance and nothing more.
What will my life be like from here? It will be just as fun and ridiculous as it always was. To me, there is no old life and new life. There is life. There is no before and after. There is now. Life wasn’t ever really normal before, so why should I expect it to become normal?
Let’s review: A suburban Jewish kid from New Jersey falls into a career in television news while simultaneously learning to fly a plane his father built in the basement before quitting his job to travel the world with his interfaith wife. Does that storyline change all that dramatically if we add the modifier “diabetic” into there? Don’t think so.
I won’t ask the question, “Why did this happen to me?” Very simply, it happened. Not everything has to happen for a reason, even though I feel that most things do. It won’t help me to sit there and pointlessly ponder if diabetes was part of some bigger plan.
More importantly, it’s not fair to others to ask that question. Why did one of my best friends have a stroke at the same age at which I developed diabetes? Why did an acquaintance of mine die in a car crash in our fourth year of college? Why did a friend develop a malignant tumor in her early twenties, forcing her to go through multiple rounds of chemotherapy?
These people and their families may ask, “Why did this happen to us?” I have no such right. Not with something as simple and treatable as diabetes.
I know I am not alone.
The World Health Organization estimates that nearly 450 million people around the world have diabetes. In the United States, approximately twenty-nine million people have diabetes. Only about 5 to 10 percent have type 1 diabetes, in which the pancreas simply quits producing insulin. (The vast majority have type 2 diabetes, where the pancreas works, but fat cells get in the way of the insulin doing its job.)
Type 1 diabetes is almost always diagnosed before or right after puberty. It is incredibly rare for type 1 diabetes to happen after age thirty. I guess that makes me lucky.
For those keeping score, that’s now two straight misdiagnoses from medical types. After I blew out my knee the previous June, the resident at UPenn hospital said I had probably just strained something. It took my insurance two weeks to approve an MRI because she didn’t order one at the hospital that night.
And then Dr. Diabetes couldn’t figure out that I have the same disease he does. Seriously?! You guys spend eighty-seven years in medical school. Let’s make sure your diagnostic accuracy rate is a bit higher than the MLB batting average. Derek Jeter is allowed to bat .310. You are not.
And now, a few quick personal notes.
To the medical staff at CIWEC in Kathmandu: Thank you for getting me home so quickly once my care was in your hands. I think my parents appreciate this even more than I do.
To my pancreas: I’ll see you in hell. Quitter.
To Nesquik chocolate milk: I will do everything in my power to work you back into my life in a way that’s good for both of us. Right now, we need some time apart. It’s not you. It’s me. You haven’t changed. I have. Our relationship lasted thirty-one amazing years. You’ll always be in my heart until you’re again in my stomach.
Back at home, I assemble a diabetes travel kit with all my prescriptions and a few other items to help me along the way. I buy a diabetes food guide to gauge how many carbohydrates and sugars are in the food I’m eating, a small digital food scale in case I need to weigh food, measuring cups, and glucose tablets to keep my blood sugar up in case it drops too low.
Although the future suddenly seems very uncertain in ways it didn’t just a few weeks ago, Cassie and I are sure of one thing: we want to finish our trip. That may seem crazy. In fact, it may be crazy. But for us, and more importantly for me, it’s a very simple decision. If I decide to call off the rest of the trip now, then I have already given in. I have accepted restrictions on my life, and that sets a dangerous precedent so soon after my diagnosis. If I limit myself now, I will limit myself forever.
