it's the day before my birthday, and my girlfriend surprised me with an outing to a local bird aviary/botanic gardens in the mountains!!!

this was an absolute delight for me, known bird enjoyer, and i got to have many cute and phenomenal birds perched on my head (which i loved and plushie magolor 'tolerated', on account of it being my birthday). i even got to see a nicobar pigeon, which i had never seen in person before!

they also surprised me with an early birthday present to use at the incredible mountain-top picnic spread my gf planned (😭😭) of this extraordinarily cute kirby themed liquid-glitter cup!!

and of course, in true starflung fashion i injured myself twice

once, not three minutes into the outing when my umbrella (which i only require because i'm allergic to both the sun and sunscreen) bit me, and my gf had to run to reception to get me a bandaid. later, when i just totally fkn stacked it on some loose gravel on a slope and i got the umbrella back by slamming it into the ground, along with my knees and one palm. but not the other palm, which was holding plushie magolor, who touched neither gravel nor dirt and never will while i still breathe!

need ur opinion on barty & pandora’s relationship bc i always saw them as really close but almost only behind closed doors or only with their friends?? barty has his whole shtick of being someone who “doesn’t care” and seems entirely indifferent to almost everyone (besides evan, reg, dorcas) and so when people see little ms sunshine pandora rosier walking next to him they’re always surprised?? well surely it must be because she’s evan’s twin right?? wrong!! barty always somehow gets roped into pandora’s mini quests!! he walks around the school with wet pants for the whole day because pandora insisted she needed help finding specific kinds of rocks in the lake that morning!! barty’s not a particularly sentimental guy, but you’re crazy if you think he ever threw out any of the random things pandora’s given him over the years… (truthfully he wanted to throw away the purple sparkly button she had found and given to him when they were 12, but he felt such an awful sense of guilt that he dug back through the trash, found it and has kept a shoebox underneath his bed of what she’s given him ever since.) i think pandora also never gave him the whole “if you hurt my brother i’ll kill you” talk because she just knew they were made for eachother in some weird way, but barty definitely gives anyone pandora’s dating that talk (maybe accompanied by a silent, but dead eyed regulus/evan/dorcas?) barty & pandora both fall asleep on the other one and she keeps his favorite snacks in her bag because he gets “hangry” she claims. he knows how she takes her tea and if he doesn’t have time in the morning there’s his favorite coffee ready to drink!! in a weird way i think barty almost values her everlasting kindness/naivety?something he feels he lost too young? almost mirror each other in the sense that they both value their individuality so deeply, but have also been isolated a lot throughout their lives and have had very few people to truly trust, yet turned out so so so differently? barty being more closed off, pandora being more open, etc. etc. they both share a protectiveness over all their friends, but their rage is entirely different, barty’s more loud and pandora’s more quiet. someone says something bad about pandora and barty’s beating them up, but if someone says something bad about barty pandora is absolutely dosing their morning juice with a potion that’ll make their skin turn purple for a month. idk!!! i feel like you could probably explain this better xx i have to thank you for the rosekiller, bcj, lily evans brainrot!!!

it’s finally out

I have officially completed this gift and I really do hope @thesoundofmadness comes to enjoy this! I really had such a blast writing it- and boy, I might do something like this again!

Howard and Randy are my blorbos- well, some of them at least, but me-ow, anyway before I go off on a long cooking ramble- here’s the finished piece

Writing their relationship is like music to my ears because on one hand, you have Randy’s selflessness- but boy is he dumb of ass and then you have Howard’s fiery devil-may-care attitude unless it’s in his own interests; except to each other? They’d literally walk into the flames, they would do anything for one another- because you even have the way their personalities match, they influence each other in ways I don’t think they’re even conscious of but seriously- Tengu! Howard should’ve had more time to shine

Five months (?) ago…

Each crash of waves against the docks sent a fresh jolt of anxiety through his core, and yet Andrei forced himself to take step after step closer to his destination. Truthfully, the mere thought of being on a ship once more was nauseating to consider, and yet…

One more step. Another. The waves roared their warning. Another step.

He had to do this. The familiar, unfriendly faces roaming the halls of the monastery had increased, as of late, a neverending reminder of the reality he lived in. He’d once attempted to lull himself into believing there was peace for him in this land, an understanding with his family, in a land where duty did not bid him to make the choices he did.

How foolish. There was no escaping the past.

(He’d wanted to remain in the illusion.)

That was not the problem. The problem was – nails bit painfully into the flesh of his palms, until he shook himself out of the memory of Edain, weakened, lying against her cot, looking up at him with a fondness he should’ve lost claim to the moment that decision had ever entered his mind. He hadn’t dared ask what she would’ve chosen, if he hadn’t attempted to take the choice from her entirely. He had a feeling he knew what the answer would be.

Another mistake, false heir.

Andrei reached the docks, legs steering defiantly towards the ship bound for his destination even as every exhale through gritted teeth became painful. Here he was, attempting to fix a mistake. Returning to the place he had come from. A feat that, if the word of so many he’d spoken to could be trusted, was entirely possible, even with the obviously different circumstances that had brought each of them here.

He wasn’t certain what year he would be returning to. Asking would get him nowhere, and… if he didn’t know, then perhaps he’d allow himself to hope that he could truly get that chance. If, by some divine will, he could travel against the flow of time, perhaps he could rectify at least one single mistake in his life. Even just one, among countless.

And even if he could not… even if all he’d managed was to be thrown into the future, the one from whence Patricia came…

There was at least one he’d failed in that time too, was there not? One without a mark, born and discarded in the foolish pursuit of some proof of his worth.

He could attempt to fix that mistake as well.

The plank leading to the ship creaked and swayed in the breeze, enough to hide the tremble in Andrei’s steps.

Focus. This had to be done. He reached out for balance as he stepped onto the ship.

The world dissolved.

The point of no return

Pain, a familiar, haunting echo, descended upon him the moment he opened his eyes. A dark sky above, no moon or stars in sight. His heartbeat was slowing, each thrum accompanied by the distinctly unpleasant feeling of his lifeblood leaking into the earth below.

Movement, at the edge of his vision, and then, a face –

Ah.

His eyes slip shut, life escaping too fast for surprise to register.

…Or perhaps he shouldn’t have been surprised. He didn’t deserve a second chance, anyway.

(Though. He’d forgotten the expression on Brigid’s face when she’d looked upon his dying form. At least, at least, he’d been able to see it again.)

Then, nothing.

Present day

Nothing, except the feeling of resignation as Andrei’s eyes open to the now-familiar landscape, at the foot of the path leading towards the monastery looming in the distance. Of course.

There is no turning back time, nor rectifying his mistakes. To believe otherwise is merely a fool's wish.

(He still wanted–)

A trembling hand finds its grip around polished wood – Andrei looks down. His Brave Bow. It hadn't been with him last time, the thought dimly registers in his mind. His wounds don't hurt nearly as much either.

Blessings, perhaps, or just another grim reminder. That there is no other place for him, anymore.

He takes a step, then another.

A return, to where he belongs.

Just a shower thought, but modern AU Straw Hats doing secret santa - Sanji is all on board, thinking it could be the opportunity to draw your name and hand you the best gift of all time - until he doesn't. He got Franky.

He approaches every single one of his friends, trying to glean who picked your name (more or less obvious and to varying degrees of success) - and, as fate will have it, it's Zoro. Fuck.

Valiant knight that mosshead is, he refuses to give up that little piece of paper (that stupid freak was only going to gift you inappropriate shit anyways - no one wants to see lingerie or fucking sex toys at the holiday bash. Not to mention that he already has the perfect gift in mind.)

And so Sanji nags. Insults. Fights. Begs him - all to no avail, Zoro does not budge. It takes days for Sanji to accept defeat - and he only does it because he's got a new plan: He's going to get you a gift anyways. (And of course, he won't forget about Franky.)

The holiday party rolls around and there are two gifts for you under the tree: one book you've been wanting since pretty much forever and an elaborately decorated cake. It starts a whole new fight between Zoro and Sanji (with Luffy butting in from time to time because you getting food AND a gift is a grave injustice) that ends up in them duking it out while the rest of you share the cake. (But you do patch Sanji up later on so maybe it was all worth it in the end...)

Inside the small box were a handful of homemade sugar cookies - with a hint of cinnamon added for extra holiday flavor. The cookies had a simple layer of white icing on them, with a little punny message. (and yes, it did hurt her soul to write those puns)

The pun on the cookies recieved a chuckle of appreciation. Cyno quite enjoyed them, and he resolved to send a punderful gift in return. If he could think of one.
