Role of an architect in the construction project
An architect is a person hired by a client to construct any project. An architect's major role is to plan, design, and organize a project's construction as per the client's ideas and requirements. He plays a crucial role in the construction project and is responsible for creating the overall vision for a building or structure and for ensuring that this vision is translated into a functional and safe design.
Since India is a developing country, there is a huge scope of rapid construction activity of roads, residential buildings, commercial buildings, sea bridges, etc. The government has planned to achieve the goal of a $5 trillion economy by the end of 2025. According to the Economic Survey, India has to invest around $1.4 trillion in infrastructure development to achieve the goal of a $5 trillion economy. In November 2022, the World Bank estimated that India will need to invest $840 billion over the next 15 years, or an average of $55 Billion per annum, into urban infrastructure. It is estimated that by 2036, around 600 million people in India will adopt the urban lifestyle, which will be almost 40% of the total population. Therefore, this particular statistic clearly indicates that this will create many opportunities for architects. Hence there will be a huge demand for an architect in the construction project.
Role of an Architect
The first step in a construction project is the conceptual design stage. Here, a meeting is initially conducted between a client and an architect, and as per the client's requirements, the goals, budget, and site design are finalized. The architect will then create a conceptual design that meets these requirements, considering factors such as zoning regulations, building codes, and the surrounding environment. Once the design is approved, the architect moves on to the schematic design stage, where they create detailed plans and elevations of the building. During this stage, the architect will work closely with engineers and other consultants to ensure that the design is structurally sound and meets all necessary building codes and regulations.
The next stage is the design development stage, where the architect creates more detailed drawings and specifications for building construction. This includes floor plans, electrical and plumbing layouts, and details of the building's exterior and interior finishes. The architect will also coordinate with other consultants and contractors to ensure that the design is feasible and meets the client's needs. The contractors will take care of the necessary things by arranging the quality materials like steel, bricks, timber, rock, stone, sand, tiles, the best cement in India, and other building materials. If the construction project is not big enough, then some of these building materials are available in the shop of any cement dealers nearby.
After the design development stage, the architect will move on to the construction document stage, where they create detailed construction drawings and specifications that will be used by the contractor to build the building. This includes structural drawings, electrical and plumbing schematics, and detailed instructions for the construction of the building's various systems and components. The architect will also review and approve all submittals, such as shop drawings, product data, samples, and mock-ups submitted by the contractor, to ensure they comply with the construction documents.
During the construction phase, the architect takes important updates by monitoring the contractor's progress and ensuring that the building is constructed per the plans and specifications. The architect will visit the site regularly to monitor the progress and review the contractor's work for compliance with the plans, and provide guidance and direction as needed. They will also coordinate with other consultants and contractors to ensure that the work is proceeding smoothly and that any issues that arise are addressed on time.
Architects are also responsible for the aesthetic design of the building, which is one of the most important aspects of a construction project. A building that is visually pleasing and harmonizes with its surroundings can significantly increase the value of the property and the surrounding area. Additionally, a good architect will consider the environmental impact of the building and strive to use sustainable materials and methods to reduce the building's carbon footprint.
Finally, the architect will conduct a final inspection of the building to ensure that it has been constructed per the plans and specifications and that all necessary permits and approvals have been obtained. Once the building has been completed and all necessary approvals have been obtained, the architect will close the project.
In conclusion, the role of an architect in a construction project is vital. They are responsible for creating the overall vision for a building or structure and for ensuring that this vision is.

Are you desperate for me?
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Smut 18+, car sex, sub!reader, thigh riding, fingering, sex pollen, breast play, marking, praise, cum play, semi clothed sex, mentions of drug trafficking and death.
WC: 2.24k
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
You and Wanda are currently in Bari, Italy, on a mission to find locate and arrest a dangerous drug dealer that is rumored to be heading towards London for an important deal.
Your goal is to find his base of operations and destroy his current supply. The suspect in question, Cecil Adams, otherwise known as 'The Count', has been injecting his victims with his test products.
Almost all of them ended up dead within minutes.
"Oh come on."
"It's for the good of the people" Tony said and you rolled your eyes.
"So me and Wanda have to cancel our honeymoon just to find some wack ass Peter Piper? Why can't the police just deal with it?"
"They've tried, but every officer they sent has come back in a casket. You know we wouldn't have asked you if we didn't need to, but the rest of the team is already assigned elsewhere." Steve informed, crossing his arms and expressing a look of sympathy.
You groaned as you buried your face in your hands in annoyance. Wanda grabbed your hand, stroking the back of it her thumb as an attempt to help you calm down.
"A week in Italy wouldn't really be so bad, just think of it as a last minute change of venue." She whispered and you brought your head up to look at her and her bright green eyes.
"I... alright, fine." You couldn't bring yourself to argue with her, turning back to look back at Tony and Steve.
"You owe us two weeks off after this." Both men nodded in agreement.
Four days into your stay, you and Wanda had found his headquarters, an abandoned wear-house at the edge of the city.
You and your wife are rigging the place to blow. Members of S.H.E.L.D waiting just outside of the property as backup.
Wanda had used her magic to knock out the guards surrounding the area, putting handcuffs onto each of them, and with a snap of her fingers, she'd sent them straight into the secured van.
"You done, baby?" You ask Wanda through your earpiece.
"Everything's all set over here"
"Alright then, just make sure you're safe ok?"
You back away from the building with the remote trigger in your hand, your backpack filled with product in the other, you'd managed to sneak in prior and retrieve some per S.H.E.L.D's instructions.
"I will be detka, are you?"
"I'm safe" You assure her as you take small steps backward and away from the building.
Suddenly you feel a cool piece of metal brace itself against your throat, strong muscular arms wrapping themselves around you.
You sigh, reaching for the man's wrists and throwing him on the ground, the knife in his hand flying into the distance.
You hear him groan before you flip him on his back, grabbing a pair of handcuffs from your bag and putting his hands behind his back, locking him in place.
"For someone who's created such a hassle, you really need better fighting skills." You mutter, Wanda picking everything through the mic.
You cuff him and grab him by his hair, holding his head up. Pulling a chloroform-laced cloth from your pocket, you knock him unconscious.
"Luybov? What happened?"
"We've caught our culprit." You chuckle as you picked the man up, throwing him over your shoulder and heading towards the front of the warehouse.
You set Adams down, his body limp against the cemented ground.
"Ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"5... 4... 3... 2... 1..."
Boom.
The warehouse erupts into a riot of flames, painting the area in orange and red.
You notice a puff of smoke head in your direction but it's unlike anything you've seen before, it was... pink?
You tried your best to avoid it but you couldn't, the cloud reaching you and the moment you inhaled it, you cough heavily.
Wanda uses her powers to contain the fire and puts it out, red wisps of her magic encasing the remaining smoke, clearing it into thin air.
Once you can finally breathe, you turn to pick Adams up and hand him into S.H.E.I.L.D's custody. A group of agents taking him into the back of the van along with rest of his henchmen.
You hand one agent your bag of evidence, receiving a nod in thanks before they get inside and drive off.
"You alright?" You feel Wanda's hand grab your shoulder from behind you, her voice is laced with so much love and a hint of worry that makes you fall even deeper for this woman.
You nod, turning to face her and wrapping your arms around her neck, pulling her in for a desperately lustful kiss.
The moment your lips make contact you can't help the moan you let out at the sensation. When you pull apart, she noticed how of how your pupils have dilated drastically.
"I think it's time we go back to the hotel, don't you agree?" Your fingers playing with the pendant of her necklace, Wanda smiles back at you and nods, giving you another peck that makes your heart skip a beat.
You'd never felt this needy before.
She brushes her hand past your ear making your breath hitch, disappoint running though you when you realize she was only trying to grab your earpiece, taking her's out right after and putting them in her pocket.
Hand in hand, you both head to car that Tony had lent you for your time here. Wanda opens the door for you, a blush painting your cheeks at her chivalry.
She then heads into her spot in the drivers seat, starting up the car and putting the hotels address in the built-in GPS system.
Once on your way, you feel Wanda's hand on your thigh, giving it a light squeeze. You were starting to lose your composure, though the act was innocent, the heat in your pants was becoming unbearable.
"Oh my poor baby," she coos, "I can read your thoughts; they're quite loud."
"Are you desperate for me?"
You feel your eyes shut for a moment at her accent slipping into her words, your thighs clenching at the rasp in her voice.
You grab her hand, bringing it down to your clothed pussy, making her feel how your wetness had already stained through your uniform.
Wanda bites her lip, making a sudden turn, slowing down, and coming to a complete stop in an empty lot. You look at the screen on the dashboard, your hotel a fifteen-minute drive away.
You awkwardly shift towards her, straddling her lap, and reaching to the side for the lever of the seat, pushing it downwards.
She cups your cheeks and kisses you deeply, your tongues meshing together in a familiar dance.
Wanda unzips your suit from the front, smiling at your lack of bra. You pull apart so you can slip it off and throw it somewhere into the backseat, leaving you in just your panties.
You gasp when she sucks different marks onto your neck and collarbone, teasing you.
She's looking at you with innocent eyes, batting her lashes and pressing kisses against your skin, she then takes your nipple into her mouth, her free hand toying with your other breast, making you throw your head back in pleasure.
You move your hands to the back of her head, moaning lightly whilst treading your fingers through her silky strands. "You want me to touch you detka?" She mumbles against you and your breathing gets heavier.
"Please."
You buck your hips against her, grinding on her thigh pathetically, the friction of your panties brushing against your clit in the just the right way, little gasps and moans escaping your throat without permission.
Wanda releases your nipple, a string of saliva being the only thing connecting her to your chest, the sight making you whimper.
You look down at her with dewy eyes, the ache in between your legs becoming unbearable. Your breath shudders when you feel her fingers slip your underwear off, making contact with your wet folds, and you bite your lip at the feeling.
"So wet for me." She whispers, your eyes shutting when her slim digits make contact with your clit, and you can't help the noises that escape your lips. "You like when I touch you like this princessa?"
"Yes- fuck." You moan when she starts to tease your entrance, spreading your wetness thought your folds. When her fingers finally enter you, your eyes roll to the back of your head as she starts to pump them in and out of you.
"Such a pretty girl." Wanda coos, placing hot open mouthed kisses on your neck and jawline, her fingers curling ever so slightly on every pull out driving you insane, a familiar hot coil building up in your stomach.
Wanda repositions her hand, placing her two fingers on her pubic bone, using her free hand to help guide you into riding her.
"You make such pretty noises my darling, make some more." she smiles sweetly at you, making you groan at her words.
Your hands fly to her shoulders to help hold you up, your nails digging into the fabric of her suit, her lips back going to suck onto your nipples, your hips bucking frantically in your effort to chase you upcoming climax.
"Mm- mhmm, yes- Wanda, right- right there!" You squeal when she moves her thumb to put pressure on your neglected bundle of nerves.
"You're so beautiful" she murmurs against you before she pulls away, moving her other hand towards your ass, squeezing it gently.
"I'm gonna cum... fuck, baby I'm gonna cum! " Your eyes roll as you let the pleasure faze through you, you hide your face into her neck though your orgasm, pressing a light kiss there as your body trembles around her.
"You did so good detka, such a good girl." You hear her praise, rubbing up and down your back soothingly, as you slowly start to come down from you high.
When you lean back and open your eyes, they land on a lust ridden Sokovian, her pupils completely enlarged as she pulls her digits out of you.
Wanda brings her fingers towards her lips before slipping them both into her mouth, You feel another surge of wetness flow through you, slightly coating Wanda's thighs with my you slick.
She hums, "So sweet." She says as the swipes her fingers through your folds again, your head falling onto her shoulder as you shudder at the feeling.
You feel Wanda hold you up slightly, digits coated with your cum, you moan when she starts to pull at your nipples. "You like that, don't you?" She smiles before pulling you into another kiss.
She moves her lips downwards towards your chest, taking each bud into her mouth, tasting your juices as she swirls her tongue around them.
"Do you think you can do one more for me?" You nod, and she positions you onto her left thigh, guiding you hips as you start to grind onto her.
You whimper as your clit comes into contact with her skin each time you move your hips, Wanda pulls you into another lip lock, grabbing you by the back of your neck with one hand while her other one helps your movements.
"God- you feel so good..."
Wanda smirks against your lips before moving her hand from my hips towards your overstimulated clit, rubbing tight circles around it before pinching it, sending you into a deeper state of pleasure.
You scream her name and a string of curses, trying to steady your breathing. "So perfect for me." She whispers as she kisses your forehead.
"I love you" You say as you kiss her nose, watching how it scrunches adorably.
"I love you too" She returns, pecking your lips and hugging you close. Both of you sighing in content at the skin on skin contact.

desperation / reader x Taiga (Tokyo Debunker)
included characters: Taiga! Romeo is a guest.
rating: NSFW!!!! The actual start of smut is marked with a (***) so if you wanted to read the rest and skip that, you can, but otherwise please. It's smut.
warnings: general Taiga warnings? gun, blood, biting, sex. let me emphasize blood. FEM BODIED READER! Not gender neutral.
anyway first smut fic and first time writing about Taiga, everyone please go easy on me. @ the ask who wanted possessive Taiga, uh, I hope this works for you
Taiga was an enigma to you. He seemed like a dozen different people all wrapped into one threateningly sharp package. Sometimes, you watched him gambling, feet kicked up on the dealer’s table, eyes glinting with mischief, and thought being around him would feel like life itself. All excitement and impulse and adrenaline and it made your heart race with the adventure of it all. You could imagine your own Bonnie and Clyde romance, doing whatever you wanted, getting whatever you wanted. Living solely for thrill and satisfaction.
Other times, you hid as he slouched through Sinostra, blood covered, eyes empty. You hid because you knew he wouldn’t even remember who you were after he finished gutting you and leaving whatever was left to bleed into the carpets. You hid and you shamefully wondered how bad it would be to step into his line of sight. Just risk it. You could be the rabbit jumping into the wolf’s mouth just to avoid the pain of being cut in two. Would it be so bad?
Today was different. Today, you didn’t watch him from the entrance of the casino or with a held breath around the corner in the hall. Today, he was sitting across from Romeo, head leaned back and staring up at the ceiling.
“-from a general admissions student in Mortkranken. Avoid the ghouls. I’ll text you the details, but take it back to your room first, do not come here. Someone will come pick it up from you. Do you understand?”
Sounded complicated, but that was par the course with Romeo. You wondered if he had you running drugs (again) and, with a nod of agreement, you decided it was best if you didn't know. It wasn't your choice to be Romeo's drug mule anymore than it was to be his secretary and verbal punching bag, but hey, it paid the bills. So to speak.
“Repeat it,” he demanded, arms crossed and staring down his perfect nose at you.
“I’m picking up your package from a general admissions student in Mortkranken. I’ll avoid Yuri and Jiro and take it back to my room and wait for one of your guys to come get it. Does that cover it?” You responded, crossing your own arms in retort. You were willing to put up with a lot when it came to Romeo, but that didn’t mean you had to do it with a smile and a nod.
His eyes narrowed slightly, annoyed by your attitude but unwilling to spend the energy on reacting to it. “Just go.”
You stood up and managed only a step before Romeo gave you another order.
“And take those folders to Shinjo on your way.” He gestured to a stack of papers sitting too close to Taiga.
It felt like trying to take a bowl of food from a territorial dog and you felt your blood pressure rise as you considered what violence he could enact simply for you getting in his space. He could rip you apart with his teeth, that was always an option. Or he could shoot you with any number of guns he just so happened to always have on him. He also wasn’t a stranger to beating people with blunt objects, though you didn’t see a baseball bat or metal bar in the vicinity. That option was probably off the table for now.
You stilled your racing thoughts. He wasn’t even paying attention. The papers weren’t his. Romeo was right there. You would be fine. You reached down for the folders.
And he snatched your wrist, his gaze dropping to you and cementing you in place. “You love taking orders, don’t you, kitty-cat?”
His grip wasn’t particularly tight. You didn’t feel your circulation cut off, your bones being ground into dust- no, he just held you. Kept you there until you answered his question, a question you didn’t feel so inclined to answer. Enjoy taking orders- of course you didn’t delight in being Romeo’s servant. To anyone else, you might have snapped at the insinuation. But no one else was Taiga, and snapping at him could mean getting your bones snapped in retaliation. Your heart raced and you wondered if Romeo would intervene. Probably not, not unless there was a risk of staining his furniture. You didn’t want to let it go that far. “Let me go,” You insisted, voice more of a squeak than you intended.
Taiga cupped a hand around his ear and pretended he couldn’t hear you.
“Let. Me. Go.” You repeated, a decibel louder.
“No one told you you couldn’t leave.” He responded casually.
You flushed with indignation and wrenched your wrist free, grabbing up the files and almost running out. No one told you you couldn't leave…as if you needed permission. As if he hadn't forced you to stop. As if being Taiga didn't carry unspoken rules and crossed boundaries. As if- no, you didn't need to waste your thoughts on more as ifs. You knew the connotations he brought with him with every action, just by virtue of being Taiga and you know he had no reason to acknowledge them himself.
You just needed to leave. Still… As you rushed out, you wondered why he’d asked you anything. He certainly had never given you the attention before. You would have felt better if you knew he watched you on the way out, maybe with interest, maybe with disappointment, but as you reached the door and shoved your way into the hall, you peaked back.
He was back to staring up at the ceiling.
~~~
It had been a long few weeks. Back and forth from house to house, you never had a chance to catch your breath. If someone wasn't ordering you to do something with a sneer, they were putting you in a situation where you ended up with bruises and scrapes and potentially even worse injuries. They didn't all intend to hurt you, but the results spoke for themselves and you did hurt. The hurts just weren't all visible.
It didn't matter that your hips ached and your feet were sore and there was a split blister on the back of your heel that bled into your sock. You had another errand to run that you were going to be late for and Romeo was going to kill you. You ran, letting out breathless apologies as you bumped into Sinostra students on your way to Romeo’s VIP room. A nearly overflowing bag bounced around in your arms and used your chin to try to hold the tons of little plastic baggies in place as you rushed. It wasn’t the best feeling, being so close and personal to what you could only assume was illegal, mind altering substances, but an accidental whiff of cocaine was definitely less painful than a lecture from Romeo. In fact, it might have made the impending lecture bearable.
Turning a corner, you slammed into something and your bag lept out of your arms.
Taiga had his hands in his pockets, hardly phased from your extreme collision. You had managed to stay upright, but your contraband was scattered all over the floor.
“Fuck,” you hissed.
“You gonna pick all that up?” Taiga asked, making no move to help you.
You took a careful breath to steady your anger. “I have to,” you responded as cooly as you could before crouching to start your collection.
Once again, with the same pressure as before, Taiga grabbed your arm and pulled you back to standing. “Do you enjoy any of it?” He asked, nudging a bag with the toe of his shoe.
“Enjoy what?” You asked, watching his hand on your upper arm carefully.
“Anything.” He didn’t clarify.
Or maybe he did. “I-” You exhaled, tried to find some way to answer this impossible question. No? You didn’t enjoy being Romeo’s drug mule. No, you didn’t enjoy being passed around from house to house at Darkwick, the newest intern in every room you stepped into. No, you didn’t enjoy having your life uprooted, your identity all but erased so you could be whatever anyone needed you to be. No, you-
“Gah, you’re depressing,” he made a sound in the back of his throat, a rolling sigh, and then the corners of his lips curved into a smile. “Come with me.”
You had no time, or chance, to flounder, leaving Romeo’s import all over the floor as Taiga dragged you off into the casino. As you were led off, you couldn’t even imagine a world where you said no, where you got on your hands and knees and picked up every little bag and brought it to Romeo and still got yelled at. You sped up to walk faster, to keep up with him, to choose this, and thought this was the only option for you. As crazy as it was.
Taiga deposited you at a roulette table, pushing you onto one of the stools and clapping his hands over your shoulders. With a nod and a gesture, the dealer slid two untidy piles of chips towards you.
“Oh, I don’t-” You tried to stand up. Gambling wasn’t on your list of skills and you knew better than to gamble in Sinostra of all places.
Taiga held you down, “Lets see you make some choices, kitty-cat. See how much they really matter.” He leaned close enough so only you could hear him, though everyone else at the table and the surrounding area watched with wide eyes and rapt attention. Taiga alone was a spectacle. Taiga with you?
They were just waiting for the bloodbath. Casting a nervous eye around at everyone, you figured you had two options. Refuse and suffer the consequences, or commit and suffer the consequences. If you forced yourself to stand, told Taiga no, and left, that could be it. He would decide you weren’t worth his time, you’d stay a nameless face in the crowd. You’d be Romeo’s little gopher and you’d be miserable for the time you had left. If you stayed, win or lose, you…Well, you could win or lose anything. You had no guarantee, no way of knowing. Nothing more than Taiga’s fingers resting on your shoulders.
You bet on red.
~~~
You lost most of it. You bet, sometimes at random and sometimes with the thought of “it can’t possibly be the opposite of what I pick 4 times in a row, right?” You lost until the dealer shook his head, saying you didn’t have enough left to meet the minimum.
Taiga stayed behind you the entire time, offering no direction or tips, just sometimes pushing more chips forward than you were willing to bet on any given round. His hands were on your shoulders at first, and then he draped his arms over you, resting his chin on the top of your head. At one point, seemingly with no intention or realization, he had wrapped a hand around your neck and turned to yell at someone a few tables away.
You stayed completely still when he did that and received plenty of concerned glances in your direction. He put no pressure on your windpipe, and finally turned back once more to watch your games, going back to lazily leaning over you as if nothing had changed.
“Well that’s that, kitten,” He yawned.
“I lost all your money,” You admit, realization dawning and heart sinking.
He howled with sudden laughter, “Shit, yeah, you did.” He spun you around and held you by the chin, studying your wide eyed expression with a toothy grin.
The dealer cleared his throat and continued the game for the other gamblers.
“How are you gonna pay it back?” He asked, leaning your head back and exposing your neck.
The usual sense of being a prey animal crept up in your veins. The desire to apologize and back down and agree to anything to save your life froze your blood and made your heart pound. But you wouldn’t do that this time. Gambling with someone else’s money made you bold. Being around Taiga made you crazy. You grabbed his wrist this time, pulling it down enough so that you could stare at him directly. “I won’t.”
Someone behind you gasped, and then played it off with a cough.
Taiga didn’t stop grinning, letting out another shout of a laugh before freeing you of his grasp and stepping back, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Maybe you’re more interesting than you look.”
You held back any fits of shaking fear that were creeping up on you.
“Try that shit with Lulu, but I wanna be there when you do it, alright?” He turned on his heel and walked off.
You exhaled. Shut your eyes. And stood up, walking in the opposite direction.
~~~
The casino was alive. Students from all houses gambled and drank and talked and lost all of their money. It was exactly what Romeo wanted. The flow of cash into his coffers would be extreme tonight.
The only problem? Taiga.
You leaned against a wall and watched him from across the casino. Despite doing something he seemed to enjoy, there was nothing akin to joy on his face. He communicated to the dealer in only gestures and each hand dealt, win or lose, gave him no hint of satisfaction.
There was a shake lingering in your bones as you lamented the task laid before you. Romeo told you to get Taiga out and do it without causing a scene. How would you do it? You had no clue, and asking Romeo only got a slew of abbreviations thrown your way. Maybe there was some code hidden within. You doubted it.
Taking a deep breath, you accepted your fate and strode across the room towards Taiga. You were enough of a fixture in Sinostra at this point that guests and staff alike moved out of the way for you. It didn't make you feel any better about what you had to do.
“Taiga,” you said gently, “the vice captain wants to see you.”
Taiga slung his hand of cards down on the table and collected the winning pot. He didn't acknowledge you.
“Taiga,” you tried again, “Romeo needs to see you. Lulu?”
“I heard you the first time,” he snapped.
Your blood bubbled in frustration. “Then listen,” you snapped.
A hush fell over the table. No one looked at you, but no one could pay attention to anything but you.
You crossed your arms, “Haven't you won enough?”
“Haven't you pissed me off enough?”
You had no clue what you'd done to anger him so much. “What are you even talking about?” You hissed, acutely aware of the straining ears of every other gambler and staff member in the vicinity.
“You’d kiss Lulu's shoes and thank him for the opportunity.”
You balked. The fucking audacity. “You- whatever. I'll leave you alone.” You threw your hands up in defeat and spun away from him.
You heard a click and something cold and metal pressed against the back of your head.
“You think it's that easy, kitty-cat?” Taiga's voice was low when he spoke to you.
He was going to blow your brains out in the middle of the casino.
“Walk.” He ordered.
You walked.
~~~
He directed you out of the casino and into the hallways of Sinostra, eventually guiding you down the corridor to his bedroom. Your heart hammered in your chest and you thought about every decision that has led you there. You thought about every way out, and admittedly there were few.
You could throw yourself to his feet and beg for mercy, you could try to run and hope he missed, you could call his bluff and just leave. You knew none of those would actually work, but whether you died or not wasn’t the question. It was whether you survived Taiga’s inevitable disappointment that was.
You reached his door and stood still.
“You know how to open a door, don't you?” He snarked.
You opened the door and stepped inside.
“Take a seat.”
You reviewed your options. There was an armchair, his scary torture chair, and the floor. Every option carried weight. Every option told him what you thought of yourself, what you thought you were. The prey animal in you made your knees weak and almost took the decision away from you. If you didn't use every ounce of spite and frustration you had, you'd have collapsed to your knees long before. But that was the case for this entire year, this entire curse nonsense with Darkwick. If you didn't have this burning desperation in you, you'd have collapsed long before.
Maybe that's what Taiga saw in you. Desperation. You couldn't say. You couldn't pretend to know his mind, hell, you barely knew yours. All you did know was that something about him, as terrifying as he was, made you strong. Something made you mouth off to him and something made you feel more than just fear right then.
You took your seat on his bed.
He stared at you from his doorway, gun still aimed at you. Finger on the trigger.
You sat on the edge, the balls of your feet planted on the ground.
He broke into a grin and manic, empty laughter. He haphazardly tossed the gun onto a table and prowled towards you, throwing himself down on the bed and splaying out behind you.
You exhaled and pressed a hand to your chest, feeling your heart hammering underneath your skin.
“You got what you wanted. You gonna run along like a good little kitty and tell Lulu you won?” Taiga asked, his grin fading into a bitter smile he directed at his ceiling.
You twisted at the waist to look at him.
His white button down was unbuttoned at the top, the collar unstarched and bent. He had his hands under his head, his red hair messy and tousled. The necklaces around his neck called to you to pull on them. The last thing you wanted was to go deal with Romeo right now. All you wanted was to give in to your desperation and he was just laying there.
You crawled over to Taiga and straddled his hips.
His eyes, so radioactive and piercing, dropped to you. Your face. Your chest. Your hands resting on him and the space he fit between your legs.
“What do you know about what I want?” You asked him. It felt invigorating to be above him, on him.
Taiga made no effort to move you. “You don't know what you're getting yourself into.” It wasn't a threat.
You linked a finger under one of his chain necklaces and pulled slightly. “Show me.”
The corner of his mouth twitched up into a smirk. He hooked a leg over your calf and flipped you onto your back.
(****)
You gasped at the sudden change, your legs wrapped around him.
Taiga leaned down and kissed you. There was nothing chaste or sweet about it. He bit your lower lip, pulling it slightly between his teeth. You opened your mouth for him to kiss you again, his tongue pressing against yours this time.
He took your breath away and you grasped at his arms braced on either side of you. He pulled away and you whined, deep in your throat, completely unintentional. It earned you a self satisfied smirk right before he grabbed the neck of your shirt and tore it open all the way down.
“Taiga-!” You didn't know if you were scolding him or begging for more.
His head dropped back down, this time to your chest, kissing down your collarbones and treating your bra with as much delicacy as your shirt. You felt the embarrassed urge to cover your chest for modesty, and might have had he not immediately latched his mouth around one of your nipples. He teased it with his tongue and then let his teeth brush against it just roughly enough to send a shudder up your spine. His hand kneaded the other he couldn't service with his mouth and before you could get comfortable with the routine of the sensations, he pinched your nipple roughly and sucked on the other hard, coming off of it with a pop as he grinned down at you.
Your face was flushed but you couldn't look away from him. You didn't want to.
He didn't bother removing your skirt. He shoved it up around your waist and rubbed his fingers over your panties, “How long have you been this wet?” He teased, pressing down on your covered clit.
You arched against him, desperate for more of his touch, desperate to be rid of any remaining layers between you. His fingers sent jolts of electricity through your core.
“Answer, kitten. You don't have to do what Lulu says, but you don't have a choice with me.” He growled into your ear as he leaned down again and his teeth grazed your earlobe.
Truthfully? “When you held your gun to my head,” you admit.
He laughed. And then bit into your neck. He broke skin and you whimpered in pain. At the same time, Taiga pushed your panties aside and sunk his finger into you. Your mind was going blank, your body not sure whether to focus on the pain of his teeth against your skin or the pleasure of his finger curling against your inner walls.
He worked his finger in and out of you and his tongue was licking the slight trickle of blood dripping from your neck. He slid another finger in as he pulled away from your neck and kissed you again. This time, you tasted your own blood in his mouth.
You wrapped your arms around him. You did know what you were getting into. This. Him. Good and bad, pain and pleasure, you were desperation made manifest and you weren't denying it anymore.
“Taiga,” you whined into his mouth, “need you. Please.” You arched against his hand and he ground the heel of it against your clit.
He pulled his fingers out of you and you clenched pitifully around nothing, thighs flexing and chest heaving. He sat back on his knees, stared down at you, and licked his fingers clean. He looked so, so amused by your want of him and you didn't have the shame to care. Taiga took his time unbuttoning his shirt, one button after another, until you couldn't take it anymore.
You lifted yourself up and gave him his own treatment, grasping each side of his button down and tearing it apart. Buttons flew off and you pulled the rest of his shirt off his shoulders, hands immediately pressing to his chest, down his toned stomach, reaching for his belt buckle. He grinned at you and grabbed your hands, pulling them away, letting you both fall back down on his bed. He held your wrists above your head. “Don't go thinking you're in charge,” he kissed you and you let him hold you down, eagerly rubbing the back of your foot against his legs as if you could urge him to just fuck you already.
He reached down between you to unbutton his trousers and free his cock, letting it rest over-top your mound. You couldn't see it, your bodies pressed against each other, his lips on your own, but you could imagine how he'd feel just from the weight of it against your stomach. He bit your lip as he pulled away, splitting the skin and once again making you bleed.
You pressed your lips together, letting the blood coat them, and fought back a wince of pain at the feeling.
His expression wasn't amused anymore. It was heavy, watching your tongue lick the corner of your mouth to clean away the blood. He was mesmerized. He lined himself up with your opening and pushed in all at once.
You cried out and he just caught you again, kissing you, pushing his tongue into your mouth, sucking the blood from your lips. You whined as he bucked into you, filling you so completely you couldn't imagine going back to being empty. You wrapped your legs around him, crossed at the ankles, locking him to you even though you both knew he wasn't going anywhere.
He barely pulled out with each thrust, his hips meeting yours as he slammed into you as deeply as he could. Taiga didn't let go of your wrists, his nails digging into you and you had started craving it. That pain he was so good at granting you in the midst of mind numbing pressure. You tightened your legs around him, rocking against each thrust as much as you could, feeling his cock driving into you over and over.
You felt everything in you tightening, your cunt fluttering and spasming around him as you reached your high. Taiga pulled away from your kiss, letting you moan and scream unmuffled, your back arching and your vision blurring as you came. He let go of your wrists, his fingers moving down to grasp the fat of your hips as he continued fucking you through your orgasm. It was too much and not enough at the same time. He hammered into you, dropping his forehead down to the mattress next your neck, right back to sucking and biting at the wound he'd left earlier.
He groaned into your ear, teeth sinking into your shoulder as he shuddered and came inside you. He rocked his hips and stilled. He nearly crushed you with the full weight of his body, his cock still nestled deep in you as he emptied everything he had into you.
You laced your fingers behind his neck, gently petting his hair as you took deep breaths and your heart beat slowed to something more manageable. You felt sore all over, your tongue coated in the metallic taste of your own blood, your neck throbbing from the bites. As you calmed down, there was an undeniable lightheadedness washing over you.
Taiga licked your neck and slid out of you, rolling over on his back next to you. You keened quietly at the loss, your legs dropping onto the bed, shaking and useless.
Taiga turned his head to look at you, expression blank and unreadable. It hurt too much to turn your head fully. You could only glance at him from the slight tilt you managed.
“That’s not gonna be enough for me,” he told you, voice uncharacteristically steady.
You hoped not.
“Don’t listen to anyone else anymore.” He rolled onto his side and traced a finger over your lips, down your neck, your chest, your stomach, and then dipped between your thighs. Your breath hitched in your throat. “You're mine from now on, kitten.”

The subdivision was quiet that afternoon. A strange calm had settled over Hawkins that spring, but Steve had learned not to let his guard down anymore. Nothing was ever calm in Hawkins, and his nerves were already pricked with Sunshine a couple of hours away in Indy with her sister. He knew she could handle herself if she ran into any trouble, and he tried to convince himself that she wouldn’t run into any trouble, but there had been a knot of worry tied inside his gut since he was little. He worried about everything, all of the time. The revelation of other dimensions, monsters, and bad men only made that knot worse. But he did his best to distract himself.
“Turn your elbow like this,” Steve said, moving his arm to mimic the motion of the kid beside him. “It’ll help your aim.”
Lucas fixed his arm and shot the basketball, putting it right through the old hoop Steve had dug out of his garage. Since Lucas told Steve he was thinking of trying out for the basketball team last fall, Steve had been helping him practice. Between all of his high school highs and lows, basketball had been the only consistent thing for Steve, and something he still enjoyed. It served as a normal distraction for both of them, but especially Lucas. The kid was really good too and made varsity his freshman year. And while he most rode the bench, Lucas had too much potential to stay there forever.
The ball bounced against the cement and Lucas raced to grab it, dribbling it back down the driveway to where Steve stood. He was quieter than normal; Steve was the only person, besides Lucas’s dad, who the kid could have an actual conversation about basketball with. His friends weren’t interested in it, and Steve wasn’t sure of the last time Lucas had a full conversation with Max, to everyone’s dismay.
“You all right, Sinclair?” Steve asked.
He shrugged, eyes glued to the ball. “This game’s a big deal, right?”
“A really big deal,” Steve replied. There were only a handful of times Hawkins High made it to the championship of anything. “But, you know, all you can do is play your best.”
Lucas snorted a sarcastic laugh. “You sound like Sunshine.”
Steve smiled. “Occupational hazard.” She had rubbed off on him, even more so since they were dating. Her sunny disposition and pep talks, along with her adoration of the simple things in life. He saw the world differently with her, and not just the bad stuff that crawled out of portals or gates. The world was a scary place, but it also held a lot of good stuff, you just had to look through the weeds and interdimensional vines to see it.
“I know the pressure can be tough, but you’ll be fine.”
Lucas held the ball in his hands, slumping his shoulders slightly. “It’s not just that. This game is important to me, but Mike and Dustin want me to skip it for the D&D campaign. I guess Eddie refuses to reschedule.”
Steve rolled his eyes. He didn’t really know the guy, their paths rarely crossed in high school. Either Steve was running with Tommy and Carol, too busy to notice nerds like Eddie Munson, or he was sulking in his fall from grace and reeling from monsters and bullies. He’d heard of Eddie, in a small town it was impossible to not know everyone, whether you liked to or not. Rumor had it he was some super-senior drug dealer, and that sounded like the last person Steve wanted hanging around the party. But Dustin refuted the rumors and made Eddie out to be some kind of king of the nerds.
It was embarrassing, and Steve hadn’t even admitted it aloud to Sunshine yet, but he was a little jealous of the Hellfire Club caption. Sure, on paper, he was probably the cooler person to hang out with in the eyes of Dustin because he loved the same game they did, but Steve had thought that he and Dustin were the ultimate duo. He was like Steve’s little brother, annoying and sometimes a pain in the ass, but someone Steve couldn’t see not in his life. But it seemed like Dustin was no longer interested in hanging out with him.
It made Steve feel even more useless to the gaggle of teens, like he really didn’t have a place in the grand scheme of their monster-hunting team anymore.
“Your friends can’t miss one campaign to come watch you play?” Steve asked, shoving aside his own weird issues with some dude he’d never even talked to before.
“Guess not.”
“Well, what about Max?”
Lucas sighed again, hugging the ball to his chest like he was trying to get some kind of comfort from it. “She still won’t talk to me. She hardly talks to Mike or Dustin. Every time I try, she shrugs me off with some excuse. I don’t know what else to do.”
Max didn’t like change, which Steve figured out very quickly after getting to know Max. Moving across the country was one thing, but what she’d experienced since being in Hawkins was another beast. No one could blame her, they all just wished she’d let them help her. Sunshine seemed to be the only one who could get through to her somewhat. She shut the party out, caved in on herself. Lucas was the most distraught over it.
“There’s not much you can do,” Steve said. “You can try to be there for her, but you can’t magically make everything better.”
“It just sucks. We know people with superpowers and know there’s another dimension, but we can’t, like, fix any of the shit we’ve been through. We just have to take it and pretend like…like it’s fine.”
It was beyond frustrating, but that had become their lives. Steve’s mind glazed over it, trying hard not to think too much about it until the world threatened to end again.
“Look on the bright side, you’ve only got four more years here. Then you can play basketball at some D1 school, pretend like Hawkins was some fucked up nightmare or something.”
Lucas laughed but it was mixed with a little scoff. “Yeah, if I live that long,” he muttered, and Steve’s gut turned uncomfortably. He didn’t like that, jokes like that were too real. “And if they ever let me off the bench.” He tossed the ball at Steve, who caught it despite being slightly thrown off guard.
Dribbling the ball, back up the driveway, Steve shoved away the pit in his stomach and focused on the task at hand. “Hey, with my help, you might even get to play in the championship.”
“Yeah,” he replied, sarcastically. “I might even win the whole thing.”

“This feels…unethical,” Will Byers said, chewing nervously on his nails as he stood lookout for Leia.
She stopped, turning her head to look at him. “Really? I could name ten unethical things that have been done to the two of us alone. This, my dearest brother, is good ole’ fashioned revenge.” She balanced a cup of red paint on the locker shelf with a fishing wire around it. Carefully, she threaded the wire through the slit in the door and fashioned it so that as soon as the locker was opened, the cup would be pulled forward and spill on the unlucky but well-deserving bully.
“I doubt she’s even read Carrie. Angela and her friends aren’t going to get the prank.”
Leia sighed, cautiously looking up and down the empty hall. “They don't need to ‘get it.’ All that matters is that Angela is covered in red paint. She deserves a lot worse for laughing at El’s project, but Joyce said we’re grounded if we commit a crime.”
“Technically, I think she said we’re grounded if we’re caught committing a crime.”
Leia paused before she shrugged. “If this doesn’t work, then I’ll think of something illegal. Until then…” She dusted her hands off on her paint-stained overalls from an art project gone slightly rouge and clapped Will on the shoulder. He had grown even taller since their move, Joyce said it was probably the sun that was making all of them grow like weeds, but Will still curled into himself and tried to make himself smaller among their new Cali-folk.
While Leia probably should have been more wary about a new school, but she had a different view of it. She had never attended any kind of school, so she had no expectations. Bullies didn’t bother her because she was good at brushing them off. All of the teasing from Kali’s friends made her skin thick and she had a little voice in her head reminding her she had superpowers and they didn’t; it made her feel better.
Will flew under the radar too. He was quiet and good at blending in, making himself a small target. Luke followed in his footsteps, spending most of his time tucked away in the library which most kids avoided besides the nerdy and quiet ones. It was El that caught all of the flack.
By some unlucky chance, she had caught the eye of a blonde-headed all-American mean girl the second she stepped through the school doors. El was kind, she wanted to be friends with everyone but had a hard time picking up on social cues. And the second Angela got a whiff of El’s slight unusualness, she latched on like a hungry shark. How some freshman had a cult following of brightly dressed, rich friends who would do anything she said, Leia had no idea. It was like they stumbled into the set of a movie riddled with cliches that Leia thought weren’t actually supposed to happen in real life. Yet, there Angela was, laughing at El while she tried to present a project she had worked really hard on. Apparently cruelty earned you cheap laughs; Leia wanted to fry Angle to a crisp.
She had to settle for ruining the bully’s outfit.
The bell rang, singling the end of class. Leia and Will stood innocently at the water fountain and subtly watched as Angela and her clique waded down the hall, her blonde ponytail swinging with each step. She arrived at her locker, entered her combo, and yanked it open. Out poured the red paint, splashing down the front of Angela’s shirt. She let out a shrill scream that echoed through the hall, causing people to stop.
Angela wiped her hands against the paint, smearing it into the fabric and getting a layer coating her palms and fingers. It looked like blood, but the smell of paint quickly filled the air, making the hall smell just like the art room.
Leia hid her laughter under her hand while Will pressed his lips in a thin line, suppressing a smile. They watched as Angela’s friends surrounded her like a flock of birds. She swatted them away and turned out from her locker with her face nearly as red as the paint. Leia couldn’t hear what she said, but without even cleaning herself up, she took off toward the doors that led to the courtyard of the school.
“Okay,” Will said with a laugh. “You were right; that was great!”
Leia beamed. “I’ve got more where that came from.”
He shook his head, a lightness in his tone that only came out from time to time now. “Come on, let’s go find Luke and El. They’ll want to hear about this.”
Unfortunately, their two siblings did hear about the red paint stunt because El was the first person Angela assumed had pranked her. By the time Leia and Will entered the courtyard, El was sprawled out against the ground with her project in pieces along the sidewalk. Angela was standing the closest to El, her arms crossed and laughing along with the rest of her friends who stood on the sidelines.
El’s face was grief-stricken, and that alone was enough to send Leia running towards her sister. She jammed her shoulder into Angela’s sending the blonde stumbling. El stood and outstretched her hand in a similar way she once did when she used to abilities; it was a reflex, one that would probably take El a long time to shake since she had lost her abilities last summer. Before El did anything to give Angela further ammunition, Leia grabbed El’s arm gently and pushed it back down at her side.
Angela seemed satisfied with sending El and her project to the ground and turned to leave, her front half still coated in paint. A tear fell from El’s eye as she glanced at her broken project. With a gentle sigh, Leia tried to channel her anger into something more helpful for El; it was what Sunshine told her to do when she felt her anger gain control of her, fueling her abilities and asking for something bad to happen. Leia grabbed a hold of El’s shoulder, making her sister look at her.
“Are you okay?”
El frowned, wiping away her tears. She nodded sadly, slumping her shoulders.
“It’s my fault,” Leia said. “I pranked Angela, but I should have known she’d think it was you. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” El tried to smile, but it was weak and turned back into a frown when her eyes landed on the pieces of her project.
Will and Luke started picking them up, placing them back in the slightly crushed shoe box. “We can fix it,” Will said with confidence in his voice. He pinched a squirrel figurine in between his fingers before holding it out to El. She grabbed the squirrel and closed her fist around it. “We’ll all help, and it’ll be good as new, all right?”
“All right,” El said quietly. She joined the boys on the ground while Leia scooped out the surrounding area in case any pieces went flying off of the sidewalk and onto the grass. She spotted a couple of popsicle sticks and gathered them before she turned around. Directly behind her was one of her classmates, who sat beside Leia in art class.
Startled, Leia gasped, and the girl’s eyes widened before a sheepish smile fell across her lips. “Sorry!” Abby said. “Didn’t mean to scare you, I just found this.” She held out a small hat that El had made to resemble Hopper’s police hat.
“Thanks,” Leia said, taking the hat with a small ache in her chest. Not a day went by where she didn’t think about Hopper; she missed him, but Joyce was doing everything she could to make the three of them feel a part of their family. It wasn’t the same though. They weren’t in that little cabin in the woods, eating Eggos and watching black-and-white detective movies.
Abby shoved her hands in her pockets and rocked back and forth in her busted sneakers. She didn’t dress like most of the kids at school; her shoes were dirty and her clothes were mended with patches of different colors. Her hair was pin straight and black, with thick bangs cut barely above her eyes. She was odd but in a good way. Abby was always bouncing on her heels or tapping her hands against the tabletop. She spoke quickly but with so much enthusiasm it made Leia feel happy too.
“Angela’s a jerk,” Abby said. “I’m glad someone finally did something, even if it didn’t end super well.”
Leia pocketed the hat with a sigh. “I should have used real pig’s blood.”
“You stole the pain from the art room?”
“Guilty.”
Abby laughed. “That’s amazing! Oh, I would have killed to see her face!” Leia laughed too; it was impossible for her not to. Abby’s laugh was infectious, which often got them into trouble in art when they couldn’t spot giggling in the middle of class.
“Leia, are you ready?” Will called from several feet away. They had cleaned up El’s project and Luke was carrying it in his arms, probably in case Angela had any other ideas. Luke was a little taller and broader, harder to knock down.
Abby gave Leia a smile before she said, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” With that, she turned on her feet and headed across the yard, leaving Leia with a friendly giddiness bubbling inside her chest.
Leia rushed over to her siblings, handing the hat off to El. Together, they all walked back into school, El sandwiched between them. The Hopper-Byers weren’t a typical group of siblings, but it was as if they were destined to be family all along. Maybe they radiated the idea that they didn’t belong, slotted pieces of different puzzles that somehow fit, but there was no denying that they belonged together as a family.

NSFW Questions About Gwen's Big Five - Part One
Questions are taken from this. The original poster deactivated their account, so it's the reblog that is linked. All the questions are modified and some are removed (either because the question had already been answered or because it referred to hetero relations.)
NSFW Questions About Gwen's Big Five Masterlist
Happy Friday! Starting off the weekend in the best way possible with some smexy questions for the Big Five we all know and love. A beautiful joint effort between @daydream-cement and I. With the occasional assistance from dear @na-shoba. The last time me and Kaley did one of these, we went back and forth, however, this time, she has stubbornly told me to post all the parts since she posts the Bri and Mir fics. So I will be your NSFW question dealer this time. Enjoy!
When did they lose their virginity?
Brienne: Late twenties if she ends up finding a partner. Or never.
Larissa: 17
Lucifer: Virginity is a construct.
Phasma: 18. That’s the only time she remembers anyways. When she turned 18, she fucked every one of her fellow female troopers that saw her face or saw her remotely undressed, if they didn’t take the bait and refused sex, threatening them to silence always worked. It was a way to “keep them quiet,” and “ensure their silence.” Also, if they raked their eyes over her body in any way, shape, or form. All consensual, of course.
Miranda: 20
Do they prefer rough sex or soft sex?
Brienne: Nine times out of ten she prefers soft sex. She will rarely like rough sex, if ever, and will only do it once or twice for her partner on special occasions if they really like it. She undermines her own strength many times and ends up hurting them involuntarily. So she likes it soft when giving and receiving.
Larissa: Depends. Really likes rougher sex if she is bottoming.
Lucifer: Yes.
Phasma: Rough when giving (which is always). And whichever when receiving (which is never, unless she has a partner, then it’s once a year).
Miranda: Soft when giving. Depends when receiving.
Do they have any kinks/fetishes?
Brienne: Praise kink with light degradation.
Larissa: Loves relinquishing control. Praise kink with light degradation.
Lucifer: The Wing Thing™
Phasma: Degradation to the max! Heavy degradation, light praise, biting, edging, voyeurist & exhibitionist (in her quarters with her watching, or her having someone watch her, always willing partners. Power play, and such). BDSM (blindfolds, face slapping, flogging/whipping, gagging, handcuffs, physical restraints), anything that would give her extreme power and domination (discipline, forced orgasm, orgasm control, orgasm denial, having a sex slave (if she’s not in a relationship)), spit kink, sadism (adding this again to accentuate). Most of these are dialed down/removed if she has a romantic partner.
Miranda: Loves overstimulation and loads of foreplay. Praise kink.
Weirdest place they’ve had sex?
Brienne: Carriage in olden times. Car in modern times. However, because of her height, it gets uncomfortable quickly. And it only happened once because of an extreme sex emergency.
Larissa: School library in college. She and a friend were working on a school project and before she knew it, they were making out and they did ‘hand stuff’ in the educational theory section.
Lucifer: Hell’s gardens
Phasma: Control room.
Miranda: Supply closet at work after hours. A visiting detective seduced her and introduced her to the joys of lesbianism. She never slept with a man again after that.
Favorite sex position?
Brienne: Probably missionary. She really wants to see the face of the person she is pleasuring. (She’s lame like that /aff). Plus, missionary with the strap sometimes means bouncing boobies which we know Brienne loves.
Larissa: Bent over her desk or tied to her bed. For the most part, as long as she is being dominated, Larissa loves it.
Lucifer: Receiving/giving oral on their throne. They live the symbolism and power.
Phasma: Bending someone over something and pounding them from behind. Her helmet is off with the order ‘Don’t look behind you.’ Power play.
Miranda: Her partner between her legs with their back against her chest while she plays with their pussy
Do they like to be dominant or submissive?
Brienne: Sub.
Larissa: Sub.
Lucifer: Sub.
Phasma: Dom.
Miranda: Sub. (Will switch for her partner)
Sex on the bed, couch, or the floor?
Brienne: Bed. Sometimes the couch for over-the-clothes stuff, but no sex.
Larissa: Bed.
Lucifer: Bed.
Phasma: Doesn’t care.
Miranda: Couch. She is a fan of over-the-clothes grinding and groping and the couch is such a perfect place for that.
Have they ever had sex in a public place?
Brienne: It’s happened in the case of what she calls “sexual emergencies where it could not be postponed or held off.”
Larissa: Yes, when she was younger.
Lucifer: Yes, from time to time.
Phasma: Obviously. She is very careful about finding somewhere she is sure is rarely visited/can be locked/will be free. She has a reputation to uphold, after all.
Miranda: Yes, regardless of knowing about the ‘indecent exposure’ charges she could get.
Would they ever have sex in a public place?
Brienne: If she could avoid it, she would. She feels the most comfortable behind closed doors in a private place (her home, her partner’s home, or a hotel room). If public sex is to be accepted by her, it has to be somewhere where she can ensure privacy, like a door with a lock or a place that no one can look into.
Larissa: It’s not a preference as she ages.
Lucifer: If their partner would like, then of course.
Phasma: Of course.
Miranda: Duh. Yes.
Have they ever been caught masturbating?
Brienne: No. She learns about masturbating pretty late in her life (if ever) and only does it when she is sure no one is awake. She also trusts people to knock, and she’s good at staying quiet.
Larissa: Once during her time at Nevermore by her roommate. That night ended happily for both of them.
Lucifer: Not unless they want to be caught.
Phasma: No.
Miranda: No, but she wouldn’t be opposed to getting caught by her partner if it would lead to them joining her in bed.

Lake George Reflection (1921–1922) 🎨 Georgia O'Keeffe 🏛️ Private Collection 📍 Somewhere
Painted circa 1921-22, Georgia O’Keeffe’s Lake George Reflection embodies the contradictions inherent in the artist’s best work which came to define her career and cement her legacy as one of the most enduring and intriguing figures in 20th-century American Art. Lake George Reflection, the most ambitious in scale of her works from the 1920s, is a meditation on the sublime, building upon the tradition of the 19th century Hudson River School artists who sought to capture the drama and beauty of the unspoiled landscape surrounding Lake George. Presented alternatively as both a vertical and horizontal composition, the work is an expression of the artist’s experimental thought process as she considered what it meant to be representational in an age of burgeoning abstraction in American Art. Horizontally, the painting exemplifies the boldly colorful landscapes which have become a hallmark of O’Keeffe’s career, foreshadowing the abstracted paintings of the New Mexico hills from her later years. When viewed vertically, as Lake George Reflection was first exhibited in 1923 at the Anderson Galleries, the infinite horizon shifts to a powerful vertical thrust, with the formerly symmetrical reflections of the landscape morphing into the interior folds of a magnified flower or echoing the bold and daring heights of a New York City skyscraper. This ambiguity of orientation results in a painting that is at once highly representational and wholly abstract, carefully constructed and malleable, and which defines the subtle power of O’Keeffe’s most dramatic and admired works. O’Keeffe signified the importance of certain works by including a hand-drawn star on the reverse or backing board; she noted this distinction on the verso of Lake George Reflection.
On June 10th, 1918, Georgia O’Keeffe moved to New York City. That August, she visited Lake George in the Hudson River Valley with Alfred Stieglitz, the influential photographer and art dealer twenty years her senior whom she would marry in 1924. On this first extended trip to the area, the Stieglitz family’s 36-acre retreat provided a welcome respite from the city, and one that afforded creative inspiration and freedom. “Stieglitz, like many urbanites then and now, also had a rural base, at Lake George in upstate New York, and every year he joined other members of the large family at his mother's home there. In August 1918, he was accompanied by O'Keeffe, who was warmly received by the mater familias and the sundry siblings, in-laws, and offspring of the Stieglitz tribe." (Georgia O'Keeffe, New York, 1991, p. 39) Over the next decade, O’Keeffe and Stieglitz frequently visited Lake George, spending most of every summer and early fall on the family compound, first at ‘Oaklawn’ and later at ‘The Hill.’ The landscape and its environs seemed to stimulate her creatively and she often referred to it as ‘perfect.’ The flora and fauna, and the relationship she developed with botanist Donald Davidson, a Stieglitz family cousin, provided veritable fertile ground for artistic discovery.
Just as Lake George exhilarated O’Keeffe, it also ushered in a period of creativity and artistic exploration for Stieglitz, allowing him to view the landscape through new eyes. “Although in earlier summers he had all but overlooked the landscape at his family’s home in Lake George, New York, he now began to photograph it, stimulated both by O’Keeffe’s infectious enthusiasm for the natural world and her own paintings of the area. Citing her ability to put ‘her experiences in paint,’ Stieglitz wrote that he too endeavored to ‘put his feelings into form’ in his photographs of the trees, barns, and buildings, as well as the landscape and clouds that surrounded him.” (B.B. Lynes, Georgia O’Keeffe, 2001, pp. 26-27) Whether sparked by lively competition or simply that O’Keeffe’s admiration of the landscape invigorated Stieglitz, both artists created some of their most bold, dynamic and experimental imagery during this time. Barbara Buhler Lynes notes, “Stieglitz’s investigation of equivalence began in the early 1920s at Lake George. O’Keeffe was involved with a parallel effort, working with color as Stieglitz had worked with light. Both his photograph and her painting suggest grand panoramas and infinite distances, while at the same time that vastness is overridden by patterns of flat, undulating shapes.” (Georgia O’Keeffe, 2001, p. 38)
In addition to the myriad of visual delights that the great view from the property afforded, it would not have been lost on O’Keeffe that she was on hallowed artistic ground. “As any visitor to Lake George, then or now, she would have been more aware of its role as a popular tourist destination reaching back to the early 1800s. In the wake of the French and Indian War (1754-63) and the American Revolution (1775-83), it captivated the hearts and minds of Americans, who were increasingly nostalgic about their history. The 1826 publication of James Fenimore Cooper’s The Last of the Mohicans sealed Lake George’s fate as an American icon.” (Modern Nature: Georgia O’Keeffe and Lake George, p. 23). Many 19th century predecessors captured the autumnal foliage, verdant hills and crystalline lakes, putting forth a vision of the landscape as untouched and unspoiled. These Hudson River School depictions, often dramatized with sunrises and sunsets, emphasized the sublime in nature, a concept that would have no doubt interested O’Keeffe. “Over the past two centuries, the concept of the sublime—with its immediate sensation of awe inspiring infinite space and evocative color and light directly internalized to moments experienced in our own lives—has been substantially redefined by a small number of artists, writers, and critics, for whom it has become a vital source of spiritual values at times of increased secularism.” (Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of the Sublime, 2004, London, p. vii)
Seen as a landscape, Lake George Reflection is a meditation on the awesomeness of the open countryside of upstate New York found only a short distance from the hectic metropolis. Incorporating the groundbreaking experimentations from her early career, the rolling hills and water are depicted in the undulating forms so prevalent in O’Keeffe’s early abstractions of the previous decade. Similarly, the bulbous forms that line the foreground recall her abstract ‘Special’ series, also executed at Lake George a few years earlier. Taking these elements one step further, all is reflected, creating a virtual mirror image bifurcated by a dramatic horizontal cross-section. With its monumental scale, the resulting image echoes the images of sublimity in 19th-century art, which captured the grandeur of the landscape, an untouched splendor and a vastness seemingly born from the imagination. Lake George Reflection similarly suggests a landscape of infinite scale, confined by but not limited to the expanse of the canvas.
For the exhibition at Anderson Galleries in 1923, the first time Lake George Reflection was exhibited, O’Keeffe dictated that the painting be hung vertically. While the title suggests a certain formal interpretation to her work, the adjustment of orientation altered the viewer’s understanding of it, particularly when viewed in context with other work from the period. The change solely in orientation of Lake George Reflection, not to the painting, forces the viewer to understand the forms in a different manner. Marjorie Balge-Crozier describes this phenomenon in O’Keeffe’s works from this period, writing, “Manipulation of scale, depictions of fragments, precise lines and blurred edges, bold colors—all of these devices are used to create works that are emotional equivalents for her experiences. These are devices that can also elicit feelings of uncertainty, awe, and even terror in the spectator, whether one is looking at a close-up view of a flower or the splitting darkness of the Black Place. Paintings that are extremely minimal can appear at first as objects for calming meditation, then dissolve into uneasy questions of identity, with hills resembling body parts. In the end, the spectator is left with an equivalent sublime experience.” (Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of the Sublime, p. 103)
Particularly when understood vertically, Lake George Reflection encourages anthropomorphic comparisons. Sharyn Udall explains, “Some of her landscapes do contain forms that—perhaps without any conscious intention on her part—insist on some relationship to the body. At Lake George in 1919 O’Keeffe produced several paintings of bifurcated glowing forms that begin as landscape but become increasingly abstract.” (Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of the Sublime, p. 118) As a vertical work, the painting most closely relates to her magnified flower imagery, which she was simultaneously exploring. In works such as Flower Abstraction (1924, Whitney Museum of American Art), undulating lines and soft coral tones are quite clearly evocative of the delicate petals of a flower but the cragged vertical white line serves to bisect the image, echoing the compositional format of Lake George Reflection. Other more abstract works from the period, including Music—Pink and Blue No. 1 (1918, Seattle Art Museum) which was also in the Anderson Galleries show of 1923 and Grey Line with Lavender and Yellow (1923, Metropolitan Museum of Art), are similarly suggestive.
While O’Keeffe’s works, such as Lake George Reflection and her iconic flower paintings, seem to inherently suggest comparisons with the human form, something she patently rejected, the evolution of O’Keeffe from daring female Modernist to a sexualized media sensation was undoubtedly fostered, if not masterminded by Stieglitz. Beginning in 1918, he created a series of photographs which depicted O’Keeffe in the nude. “As art critic Henry McBride put it: ‘It made a stir. Mona Lisa got one portrait of herself worth talking about. O’Keeffe got a hundred. It put her on the map. Everybody knew the name. She became what is known as a newspaper personality.’ Moreover these photographs forged the first public image of O’Keeffe. She was seen as a sexually liberated, modern woman, and this idea of her became a visual equivalent of Stieglitz’s ardent and ongoing promotion of O’Keeffe’s art as a direct manifestation of her sexuality.” (B.B. Lynes, Georgia O’Keeffe, 2001)
Regardless of the source of these intimate connotations attributed to her most admired artwork, Lake George Reflection reflects the pictorial strategies that O'Keeffe developed as an avant-garde American Modernist: interest in a type of heightened realism that pushes an image to the edge of abstraction. It is this near abstraction that evokes the mystical and spiritual qualities that O'Keeffe associated with her organic subjects and which are the source of their strength. Hunter Drohojowska-Philp emphasizes the role of Lake George Reflection in pioneering this element of O’Keeffe’s best work, explaining, "In the spring of 1923, O'Keeffe incorporated Stieglitz's cloud motif into a pair of abstractions redolent of her earlier interest in Art Nouveau, Pink Moon and Blue Lines and Red Lines. Pink Moon and Blue Lines returns to a palette of magenta, lemon, and aqua arrayed in vertical waves on either side of a pink moon on a deep blue ground. She knew she was breaking down aesthetic barriers. Later, she said, 'When I entered the art world…you weren't supposed to paint yellow…and pink pictures.' Red Lines shows vertical waves of pale blue and buttressing columns of deep red divided by a think pink line. Both compositions derive from O'Keeffe's bisected canvases of the Lake George horizon, but upended. This technique began in her show with the vertical display of Lake George Reflection, a predictable landscape except that the horizon line runs up and down and is enlivened with pastel bubbles. Collector Peggy Guggenheim admitted that she could not decide which way to hang it. Studying photographs taken from various perspectives was enhancing O'Keeffe's ability to paint pictures that could be interpreted in multiple ways--paintings that could be hung vertically or horizontally." (Full Bloom: The Art and Life of Georgia O’Keeffe, New York, 2004, p. 219) Painted at the height of O’Keeffe’s most courageous and innovative creative output, Lake George Reflection confirms her prowess as a master colorist, daring modernist, avant-garde thinker and provocateur.

The Ruins of Us: Chapter 21
summary: You often find yourself within earshot of Lori and Shane’s whispered arguments, and this time, when Shane catches you listening, you stand your ground. But you're quickly distracted by a disturbance coming from the woods that leads to Shane's ever more rising fury. In a flashback, your mind is clouded with thoughts about the past, just as troubling news of a rapidly spreading virus reaches your ears.
no serious warning apply, but more walker deaths in this chapter, gunfire, high emotions
x flash forward x
The rest of the afternoon remains quiet, the kind of silence that should bring some peace, but lately, it feels heavy. After the discovery of the barn full of walkers, there’s a quiet tenseness as people go about the rest of the day. You try to keep busy, your hands moving on autopilot as you fold laundry or clean up near the Greene house after your barn chores. Anything to keep your mind off the tension bubbling under the surface. The camp, the farm—everything feels like it's holding its breath.
From where you are, you can see Shane and Lori near the house again, talking in those low, hushed tones that have become all too familiar. You sigh. Here we go again. It feels like it’s always something with those two. You don’t want to eavesdrop, but their voices carry, and like a bad habit, you can’t help but overhear snippets of their conversations.
"Shane, you can’t just—"
"I’m not sayin’ you have to decide right now, but you have to think about it, Lori," Shane’s voice cuts through the air, sharp but low.
You roll your eyes, shifting your attention back to your task. You’re sick of their drama. It seems like the world could be burning down, but Shane and Lori would still find time to argue about... whatever it is they always argue about. But then a word catches your ear, freezes your movements.
“Baby.”
Your hands still, the pile of laundry forgotten as you listen closer. Did you hear that right? Another phrase sticks out next.
“It’s mine, Lori, you know it’s mine. It’s why you didn’t tell ‘im.”
What?
You feel a sinking sensation in your gut as the conversation continues. You knew there was something with them–that they potentially hooked up before Rick came back ‘from the dead’ as they always said. But jesus christ, this cemented the fact that they fucked numerous times. Your insides twisted at the thought. Had Shane had feelings for Lori before the world went to hell? While you were with him? Was this purely because the stress they went through on top of the fact her husband--his best friend--was dead?
Shane’s voice is intense, harder now, cutting through the still air around the house.
“You’re pregnant, Lori. What, you really think Rick’s gonna keep you and that baby safe out here? And Carl?”
You freeze, your breath catching in your throat. You shouldn’t be listening, but you can’t stop. They’re not talking about anything small anymore. This is big. This is huge .
But Shane doesn’t let her finish. “He ain’t made for this world, Lori. You know it. I know it. Hell, everyone knows it,”
Lori’s voice trembles. “You’re wrong—”
You hear Lori trying to explain at the fish fry, back before the CDC, Rick saving her and everyone else. The attack on the camp you joined them at. But that wasn’t quite right either, you were all there, vulnerable without half the man power of the group.
“He left us to go save a drug dealer!” Shane interjects.
The words hit you like a punch to the stomach. Your blood runs cold. Merle. You know Shane’s talking about Merle. Even with all his flaws, Merle had been like a brother to you, and hearing Shane dismiss him like that is enough to make your skin crawl. The ache of loss is still raw, but the anger is louder.
Your heart races as Shane’s voice rises again, but before you can process everything, you hear footsteps, and Shane is stalking off—towards you. His eyes catch yours as he moves away from Lori, his expression dark and frustrated. He stops dead in his tracks when he sees you sitting there.
You don’t back down. You look right back into the eyes that are boring into you, but you hold your ground, your pulse pounding in your ears.
Shane takes a step closer, a sneer curling on his lips. "What’s the matter? Didn’t hear enough? Or were you just eavesdroppin’ again?" His voice is full of venom, smug, daring you to challenge him.
You refuse to let him intimidate you, "You don’t need to talk so loud if you don’t want people to hear your dirty laundry,” you snip at him, snapping a shirt out to straighten it before folding.
Shane’s smirk deepens, but there’s something darker behind it now. “Funny. Last I checked, you didn’t mind sharin’ some secrets with me either,” he says, his tone full of implication. There’s no flirtation here, but the reminder of your past relationship hangs between you, and he’s using it against you again and again.
Your jaw clenches, but you keep your voice steady. “That was a long time ago, Shane. Don’t think for a second you get to use that against me. You and Lori have got to stop this bullshit. You’re always actin’ so weird with her. So what, you hook up a couple times in the woods and suddenly she belongs to you? Her husband is here. If she’s pregnant, it’s his. End of.”
His eyes narrow as he steps closer, invading your space, towering over you. “You think you got it all figured out now, don’t you? That you can run your mouth about stuff you don’t understand.”
“I understand enough,” you fire back, your voice low but firm. “I know about the threats. About Daryl. You don’t get to act like you own people, Shane—not me, not Lori, and sure as hell not Daryl.”
For a moment, Shane looks genuinely caught off guard. His head cocks to the side slightly, like he is thinking hard, but it’s brief, and his eyes cloud with anger again. He steps even closer, practically breathing down your neck, his tone dropping into something colder, more dangerous. “You don’t know shit about what I did. But you’d better watch your step, Y/N. I was tryna to keep you safe, still am dammit. Tryna keep everyone safe .”
“By threatening him?” you bite out. “You think that made me feel safe? Telling Lori her husband is no good? All you do is push people around when things don’t go your way.”
His face hardens, and for a second, you can see the fury bubbling just beneath the surface. “I don’t push people around for no reason,” he says through clenched teeth. “I do what needs to be done.”
You meet his eyes, unflinching. You stand, your face filling with heat, “You threatened him because you were scared. You couldn’t handle the idea that someone else might have my back. Someone who actually gave a shit about me. And now Lori doesn’t need you anymore, so you try to control her more and more."
Shane’s lips curl into an ugly sneer. “You got no idea what you're talkin' about, girl,"
Before you can retort, your lip curling, your eyes shift to behind him, at the edge of the woods where your eyes catch some sort of movement. Although the sun beats down with afternoon light, a chill runs down your spine.
It’s a walker—on a stick. The damn thing is still snarling, flailing as it’s dragged it along, the most insane spectacle you’ve ever seen. You blink, trying to make sense of it all. It’s Rick and Hershel with two walkers on the kind of long sticks you recognize from when you used to work at the dog shelter. The ones animal control would use on aggressive dogs to keep them at a distance. Jimmy is leading them along in the front.
Shane notices your demeanor change, your eyes going wide, and he turns to the sight. You can now hear the rattling breath and snarls of both walkers as they are led along to the old barn. You can almost see the boiling rage beneath his skin as Shane takes in the sight.
“What is that? What the hell is THAT?” His voice is low and seething, and suddenly he’s off, sprinting toward them. You barely register it before the rest of the group is moving too, guns in hand, everyone drawn by the sound of Shane’s fury. When were you allowed to have guns again? You catch Daryl’s eye as he rounds the corner too, and you both start running along with the rest of them.
“Why do your people have guns?” Hershel exclaims as you’re approaching. Your eyes are wide as you take in the scene up close. Rick’s knuckles are white as he pushes the walker along, his face in a snarl. By the time you catch up, Shane is standing in front of Hershel, his chest heaving with anger. “You see what they’re holding onto?” Shane's voice drips with disbelief, his finger jabbing toward the walker still thrashing on the end of Rick's pole.
Hershel’s face is grim, his grip on the pole tight, attached to another walker, as he struggles to keep the creature at bay. “I see who I’m holding onto,” he snaps, straining to guide the thing towards the barn.
“No, man. You don’t.” Shane’s voice rises again, his fury barely contained. The group stands in stunned silence, unable to tear their eyes away from the chaos unfolding in front of them. Shane continues, “These things ain’t sick, they ain’t people! They’re DEAD.”
The movement of the walkers and Rick and Hershel trying to hold on is overwhelming, dust is being kicked into the air as the undead swing their arms toward the group standing around. Dust whips into the air, swirling around the frenzied scene. Daryl raises his rifle next to you, his eyes fixed on the walkers, the barrel of the gun steady as he prepares to fire if need be.
“Hey, Hershel, let me ask you somethin’,” Shane’s voice is cutting, his eyes dark as he rounds in front of them. “Could a living, breathing person—could they walk away from this?” In one swift motion, Shane pulls his gun from his waistband, cocks it, and fires two rounds into the walker’s chest. Blood splatters, the thing flinches back from impact, but straightens up again even more riled up. Your body is tense, ready to act. Every muscle is coiled tight with the fear and adrenaline pumping through you.
Rick yells, trying to get him to stop, but it's no use. Shane just keeps going. The afternoon of frustration and rage is all boiling over out of him now.
The group flinches at the gunshots, but Glenn and Daryl still have guns raised high. You take one from Carol who holds hers down, like she's afraid to use it. She willingly gives it to you, and you hold it high to the riled walking corpse, ready to fire if need be.
“That’s three rounds in the chest,” Shane says forcefully, “could someone who’s alive, could they just take that?! WHY IS IT STILL COMIN?” Shane’s voice cracks as he fires again, his frustration pouring out with each gunshot. Rick is shouting, telling him to stop, but Shane is far beyond reason now. You can feel the tension in the air—thick, suffocating—your grip tightening on your rifle as you keep your eyes locked on the walkers, their dead eyes wild with hunger.
“SHANE, ENOUGH!” Rick screams.
“Yeah, you’re right, man. That is enough,” Shane mutters, voice hardening, before taking a final step forward. His eyes gleam with an almost dangerous clarity as he raises his gun one last time. The shot echoes in the air, and the walker’s head snaps back, crumpling lifeless to the ground. Blood pools beneath it, soaking into the earth like a final insult to Hershel’s desperate attempts to preserve the living. Everyone watches in stunned silence as the creature finally stops moving. Hershel’s grip on the pole falters as he falls to his knees, face pale with disbelief and anguish etched into his features. You glance at him briefly, and your stomach twists with sympathy—the weight of his loss, his denial about what the world had become, was breaking apart before your eyes. But Shane, relentless, isn’t finished.
“Enough risking our lives for a little girl who’s GONE!” Shane’s voice, hoarse with fury, pierces the stillness. His words hit you like a punch to the gut. Carol’s face crumples, her tears flowing freely as the reality of his words twist the knife deeper.
“ENOUGH living next to a barn full of things that are tryin’ to kill us!” Shane’s anger propels him forward, his feet pounding the ground as he rushes toward the barn door. You feel your own heartbeat quicken as you realize what he’s about to do.
“Shane, no!” You find your voice, but it’s drowned out by the chaos. Shane grabs a nearby garden hoe, smashing it against the chain keeping the barn doors locked. Rick is yelling at him, pleading for him to stop, his voice ragged with desperation, but it’s too late.
With a final strike, the lock breaks open.
For a moment, there’s nothing. Just the eerie silence, broken only by the sound of your pounding heart and the rustling of leaves in the wind. Then, the first walker stumbles out, dragging its rotting feet through the dirt. Its dead eyes fix on the group, snarling as it lurches toward you.
Shane doesn’t hesitate. He raises his gun, firing round after round into the advancing walkers. The group erupts into chaos—Glenn, T-Dog, Andrea, everyone is firing off guns in every direction. The sharp, deafening sound of gunfire fills the air, mingling with the guttural growls of the walkers.
You pull the trigger, the recoil slamming into your shoulder as you take down one walker after another. Each shot is like a weight lifting from your chest, but the horror of the moment presses down on you harder than ever. These walkers—these monsters—they were once people. Hershel’s family. And now they’re being gunned down like animals.
Your breath comes in ragged bursts as you keep firing, your mind racing. This wasn’t what you wanted. This wasn’t what anyone wanted.
To your left, you see Daryl, his face set in a grim expression, his rifle steady as he takes down walker after walker with precision. Sweat drips down his brow, but his eyes are locked onto the task, focused. He’s always focused. You glance at him briefly, drawing strength from his presence.
Then, just as suddenly as it began, the shooting stops. The air is thick with the acrid scent of gunpowder and blood. The ground is littered with bodies. The only sounds are the heavy breathing of the people around you, breathless from the scene.
There’s a soft, low snarling coming from the barn now. The shadows begin to move behind the door, and you don’t take your eyes off the wooden barn entrance. Everyone is looking around at the massacre, but you don’t shift your position. A small, thin leg comes out wearing a girl’s sneaker. As you aim for the forehead–
You lower your gun, your breath getting stuck in your throat. You feel your windpipe closing from pure horror. The little girl walks out, dirty and decomposing. Her short strawberry blonde hair is matted and tinged with dirt now. Her face is blue, lifeless, except for the furrowed brows and lip pulled back in a growl.
Sophia.
Carol’s scream shatters the air. She breaks from the group, running toward her daughter, tears streaming down her face. But before she can reach Sophia, Daryl is there, grabbing her around the waist, pulling her back. They collapse to the ground together, Carol sobbing into his chest, while he holds her tight, his own face twisted in grief.
Your knees buckle, and you sink to the ground, unable to tear your eyes away from the little girl who had once been full of life, now nothing more than a shell. Your hands come up to your face, watching through your fingers. The rifle you were holding goes clattering to the ground.
The others are silent. Everyone is frozen in shock, watching as Sophia stumbles closer, her growls growing louder.
Rick steps forward, his face pale, his eyes full of unspeakable sorrow. His gun trembles slightly in his hand, but he steadies it, raising it toward the little girl. He hesitates for a long moment, his finger hovering over the trigger as he looks into her lifeless eyes. Then, brows furrowed in concentration, he pulls the trigger.
The gunshot echoes through the air, and Sophia crumples to the ground, lifeless.
The silence that follows is deafening. There are no words—just the soft wind rustling the trees and the quiet sound of Carol’s sobs.

You were sitting in the empty campus library one late afternoon, the pale light from early autumn casting long shadows across the rows of books. The sound of soft classical music filtered through the air, coming from an old radio tucked behind the checkout desk. But it wasn’t the music that caught your attention. The dial is behind turned as it switches to a news station.
“…the virus is spreading faster than anticipated, with reports now coming from neighboring countries. Officials are urging caution but insist there is no need for panic at this time. The CDC has released a statement—”
Your fingers froze over the keys of your laptop, the word "virus" sparking a discomfort you couldn’t quite explain. The reporter’s calm voice blended with the hum of the old AC unit, but the words sank in deeper than they should. "Epidemic," "spread," "caution"—words you should have brushed off, but instead, they stuck. Your hands faltered over your half-written essay, and the gnawing feeling in your gut grew as the monotony of life around you continued without a hitch.
It was only the beginning of your sophomore year, but you already felt like you were moving through a fog. The truth was, your mind had been anywhere but on classes.
Daryl.
You’d been thinking about him too much lately—his absence felt more like a bruise than it ever had before. It wasn’t just that he wasn’t calling, texting, or reaching out. It was that the last time you saw him, everything had gone wrong. The memory of that fight, of his fists flying into the faces of Merle’s friends while you sat frozen in shock, replayed in your head like a broken record. Why had it escalated so quickly? Why had Daryl looked so furious, so confused, when he saw you there? It was almost as if he couldn’t believe you were mixed up in that situation. You were grateful he came in when he did, but the way he reacted so violently had taken you by surprise. You weren't even expecting to see him. Although, and you'd never admit it, you were hoping to. Always hoping to.
You replayed the sound of him storming out of that house over and over again in your head. He didn’t even stop to check if you were okay—just left you sitting there with your heart in your throat, staring at the blood on the faces of the two guys, stains of it on the walls and carpet. And you couldn’t understand why. What had he seen that made him so volatile? Why could he barely look at you?
You didn’t even notice that your knee was bouncing under the desk, your nerves manifesting in small, jittery movements.
You saw the librarian at the front desk messing with the radio dials, stations going in and out. The news broadcast switched to static for a second and cut to an old classic rock station, the familiar notes of a guitar riff easing some of the tension in your shoulders. But not enough.
It felt like the world was tipping on its axis. Maybe it was just the stress of school, or maybe it was the unresolved tension that had been hanging between you and Daryl since that night. Honestly, since the night you left freshman year. You always knew he didn’t approve of Shane, but the way things ended up, you couldn’t believe that was the only reason he was avoiding you. Was he tired of you always coming to him with your issues? Maybe he’d had enough of the drama in your life, or found a girlfriend. Your stomach panged at the thought of him with a girl–the fact he wouldn’t want to tell you. The radio crackled again, another news update slipping through, but this time, it was drowned out by your own thoughts.
You wondered what would happen if you tried to reach out to him again. Would it be the same silence? The same avoidance? You almost pulled out your phone to text him, but something held you back. Maybe it was pride, maybe it was fear that things really were different now. Or maybe it was that nagging feeling in your gut that told you Daryl didn’t want to be found, not by you—not by anyone.
And just like that, the weirdness of it all settled into your bones. The quiet campus, the unsettling radio broadcasts about this strange virus, the thick cloud of confusion surrounding Daryl and what happened back home—it all felt like the calm before a storm you couldn’t quite name yet.
You tried to focus on your assignment, but all you could think about was how everything felt like it was unraveling, slowly but surely.

...13 discreetly (writing prompts ask list)
(since I got my pick I chose my newest ship: Kay Vess x ND-5 from the Star Wars Outlaws game. I wanna do more stuff with them so I thought this would be a good first step)
The stars seemed still as the Trailblazer lazily made its way across the galaxy. Destination…whatever struck their fancy.
‘Their’ being the three passengers of the star ship. Slicer extraordinaire Kay Vess, her loyal and dependable pet, Nix, and her co-pilot the BX droid ND-5.
He was idly walking around the ship, with the Trailblazer on autopilot and no space mafia hunting them down, he was allowed to relax. He was not used to relaxing. Even before he worked under Jaylen he had always been busy.
Kay had no problem relaxing, the human woman had fallen asleep at the wheel, a very unproffesional thing for a pilot to do, a fact he’d inform her about when she woke up. Her arms were crossed on the console making a pillow for her head. Sprawled across her legs was Nix, the merqaal’s tongue hanging from his open mouth.
ND-5 had turned his optics away from the stars ahead and to the human sitting beside him. She was snoring softly. And in that moment she looked as vulnerable and helpless as he had assumed when they first met, when he thought she’d be a hassle he’d have to eventually get rid of.
Oh how wrong his calculations had been…this snarky girl had saved him. He was only an old droid, he could be replaced, he knew that, Jaylen knew that…But Kay, she knew yet she hadn’t cared. She made the effort to fix him when he started to malfunction, even more amazing she had risked her life to remove his restraining bolt…to set him free.
ND rose from his seat and walked to the back of the ship. The memory of that day always left him feeling torn. He hated to think how he had hurt her, even though it was Jaylen pulling the strings. He remembered the terror coursing through his circuits as he chased her down under Jaylen’s orders. He had begged her to run, knowing he’d kill her once he caught her.
But he couldn’t forget the burst of surprise and joy he felt when Kay revealed she had come after him, had risked her safety just to save him. She had never given up on him. He cherished the relief that pumped through his wiring when the restraining bolt was gone. He was a free droid. A free droid, and Kay’s friend.
Partner, she had referred to him to the bounty hunter, Vail. They would stick together, they would enjoy the newfound freedom together.
ND reached Kay’s cot and pulled the blanket off, bringing it back to the cockpit to drape over her shoulders. After a moment of studying he picked up an edge of the blanket to carefully place it over Nix’s exposed belly. His hand brushed against Kay’s stomach as he did so, and he felt her skin jump at the contact but she didn’t stir.
He pulled away, maybe more quickly than needed, but kept his feet rooted to the floor.
As he watched her breath he felt the affection that seemed to want to reset his programming. While he could admit he had slowly found the girl endearing as they worked together, his fondness had started when she had gone out of her way to fix him. As humiliated as he had felt, as much as he thought it was pointless, as scared as he had been, he couldn’t help but be touched that she had grown to value him as a friend. That tenderness cemented himself when his programming had been fixed and an uncontrollable flex of his arm had brought her to the floor. Yet she hadn’t held it against him…..
I don’t know what’ll happen if I let my programming be reset. And it was probably best if he didn’t find out. But he wanted to show his loyalty, his gratitude, his sense of comradery. And through his many years of being online he saw many ways organic beings expressed such sentiments. All things he wouldn’t dare do with Kay, she’d tease him mercilessly.
But…there was one thing…and as long as she was asleep. And a part of him was morbidly curious, it wouldn’t hurt anything, this was just for him.
Carefully, not wanting his joints to creak, he leaned down and let his mouth vent brush her hair. It was dusty and a little ragged, she could use a good bath.
He pulled away from his droid-equivalent of a kiss and sat back down. When Kay woke up he would keep this a secret. He didn’t like keeping secrets from her after everything they been through. But this secret would only embarrass the both of them, he could chalk it up to a momentary glitch in his programming.
He could be discreet about it.
