READ PART THREE HERE
word count: 2.8k
Warnings:  i don't think it needs any? just forgive my limited knowledge of hockey and canada i suppose? mentions of anxiety related to university? it's a bit angsty bc let's be real, do i ever know how to write anything else?
(This is a fem reader insert)
More writing here (soz that the masterlist is not up to date lol) | send thoughts/feedback/suggestions here
You’d known Jack Hughes for as long as you could remember. He stood up for you in the playground at kindergarten, when a bigger kid pushed you off the swings; you returned the favour by saving him from a spider on his backpack. Ever since, you’d always had each other’s backs.
And for as long as you’d known Jack, you’d been able to tell when he was upset about something. His lips did this thing, not quite a pout, but nowhere near the easy smile you were used to seeing. He’d pull his sleeves down over his hands, and his breathing would be… deeper, somehow. He could never meet your gaze, either.
You were scrolling through Instagram on your couch at home, where you were supposed to be studying, when you saw a video of Jack from the Devils fundraiser event, answering media questions about his injury and when he’d be back on the ice. He laughed and smiled for the cameras, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. They asked about the all-star game, and you could feel his hesitation in answering. Jack tried to be positive and assure everyone that he had a chance of playing, but you both knew that wasn’t very likely.
You sent the video to Jack with a comment bagging out his hairstyle, hoping to lift his mood a little, before dropping your phone onto the couch and drawing your attention back to the economics case study you were supposed to be analysing.
You’d stayed in Toronto for university, while Jack headed off to New Jersey after his draft year. Long distance friendship took a lot of getting used to, but at least you were still in the same timezone, and the NHL schedule meant that Jack was contractually obliged to visit you a few times each year. Quinn too, despite how much he complained about the intensity of hockey mania in Toronto. In fact, the entire Hughes family sometimes made the trek, which you knew your parents not-so-secretly loved. It reminded you of the warmth you felt growing up in each other’s homes, filled with laughter and joy.
The little focus you had for your economics homework was broken when your phone began to vibrate beside you, Jack’s name flashing on the screen. You rolled your eyes with a smile, before leaning over to answer the video call.
“Good morning, sunshine!” You greeted your best friend, who was already scowling at you.
“Is it a good morning, though? When all I do is get criticism from my supposed best friend?”
“It’s not criticism, more… encouragement, I’d say.” You teased back, Jack rolling his eyes at you.
“Encouraging what, exactly?”
“Encouraging you to make better personal style choices, especially related to hair. You are a millionaire, after all. Least you can do is get a decent haircut.”
“Oh, my apologies. Didn’t realise I was getting encouragement from the queen of high fashion. Is that a coffee stain on that shirt?” Jack’s eyes glanced down at what little he could see of your outfit in the video call, before poking his tongue out at you.
“Hey, I’m a university student. This is high fashion, I’ll have you know. Anyway, why aren’t you at training?” You asked, cocking your head to the side in curiosity.
Jack’s lips pressed together, and he looked away from his phone and you; you silently cursed yourself for asking the question. Even though Jack had been injured, he’d been pretty dedicated to his rehab and recovery, so it was a little odd for him to be calling you in the morning rather than be at a physio session.
“More scans this afternoon so no session this morning. Trying to decide if I can play next weekend or if I just have to show up and look pretty.” Jack tried to joke, but you could tell that it wasn’t something he found humour in.
“Good thing that looking pretty comes naturally to you, J.”
“Oh, so now I’m pretty? I thought I had shit hair?!”
“You can both be a pretty face and have shit hair, buddy. They’re not mutually exclusive.”
“Mutually exclusive? Is that a fancy term you learnt at school?”
You laughed at that, earning a Jack smile in return. You continued chatting back and forth for another 30 minutes or so, before Jack had to go to his scans.
You managed to get through the rest of your economics homework, but your mind kept wandering back to Jack and his frustration at being injured. He’d been an All-Star before, so it wasn’t that specifically he was frustrated about missing, you were certain. The difference this year was Quinn’s selection in the All-Star weekend, and the building anticipation around so-called “Team Hughes” that would see Jack and Quinn on the same team for the first time in their NHL careers. That’s probably what Jack was upset about, because as much as they chirp each other and are fiercely competitive, there’s nothing Jack Hughes loves more than his brothers. You knew that he’d be in his head overthinking everything and convincing himself that he was letting Quinn down, somehow, despite it being beyond his control.
The only further communication you got from Jack that day was a thumbs-down text message, which told you all you needed to know. You were sporadically in touch a few times throughout the week, and before you knew it, it was the day everyone was flying in for All-Star weekend.
You’d managed to persuade your parents that a full-blown neighbourhood party was not necessary, and instead convinced them to accept Quinn’s invitation to a lowkey but nice dinner downtown near the hotel where he and Jack were staying. The dinner was something you were looking forward to all week, but you hadn’t anticipated two things: accidentally deleting half your economics essay the night before it was due and having to stay up until 3am to finish it; and the butterflies that you were feeling when you were getting ready for dinner. Why on earth were you so nervous? Seeing Jack and Quinn after a while was usually something that excited you, not stressed you out.
You had just pulled on your dress and finished wrangling your hair when your phone pinged with a message from Jack.
Have you looked at the menu for this place? We need to order a side of the loaded mac n cheese pls and thx
I thought you were a high performance athlete? But of course, mac n cheese is a MUST
Correct, my body is a temple. A temple of mac n cheese. Mac is a carb, cheese is calcium for my bones. Winners all around. See ya soon x
Xo
It was freezing outside, so you took an Uber from your university apartment to the restaurant. You were running behind, thanks to traffic, and then you almost toppled over on the pavement outside due to the wet weather. Between that and your sleep deprivation, you honestly wanted nothing more than to go home, put your pyjamas on and cry; but you plastered a smile on your face and headed inside the restaurant.
The hostess greeted you warmly, and offered to take your coat once you established that your parents had already arrived and were seated on a table towards the back of the restaurant, and you could see the backs of Jack and Quinn as you approached them. Everyone stood up to greet you with hugs and kisses, and the butterflies sparked again when Jack pulled out the chair next to his for you to sit down. Jack and Quinn both had nice sweaters on with collared shirts, and you were quietly glad you’d decided to wear a dress rather than the jeans you’d initially picked out.
“How did your essay go, sweetheart? I know economics isn’t your favourite…” Your mother enquired, obviously unaware of your crisis the night before.
You gave her a tight-lipped smile and took a sip of the diet coke in front of you (that Jack must’ve ordered for you, no doubt) before mumbling something about getting it sorted and hoping for the best. Your dad swiftly changed the subject to the weekend’s festivities, excitedly asking Quinn about his plans for the All-Star draft, but you could feel Jack’s eyes on you. You met his gaze and subtly shook your head, silently asking for him to save his questions for later. Jack frowned at you, but complied.
The dinner felt like it went quickly, but also went for hours. Your stomach hurt from laughing (and probably too much mac and cheese), as Jack and Quinn regaled your parents with stories of their seasons and their plans for the next summer off in Michigan, where your two families would join each other for a month or so of adventures. You found yourself smiling as your dad and the Hughes brothers comically argued over who would pay the bill, before Jack excused himself to the bathroom and sneakily paid the bill on his way there.
Jack and Quinn’s hotel was walking distance from the restaurant, and they excitedly invited you and your parents to come and see the fancy suite they’d been gifted for the weekend. Your mother made some excuse about traffic on the drive home and promised to come and see it some other time, but nudged you in your side as she told you to go and check it out. You were so tired and ready for bed, but reluctantly agreed; your window of opportunity to spend time with Jack was closing, so you figured you may as well make the most of it.
The butterflies in your stomach flitted around as Jack helped you into your coat before you headed outside the restaurant and bid your parents farewell. You fell into step in between the brothers as they traipsed back toward the hotel, conversation flowing easily as Quinn asked about your college classes and you asked him about the latest book he was reading. Jack was silent as you walked the few blocks before arriving at the hotel, and he gently placed his hand onto your back as you were guided through the hotel front door and into the elevator.
Your jaw dropped when Quinn swiped his key card and you all entered the hotel suite. They weren’t joking about it being fancy, holy shit.
The floor to ceiling windows had incredible views of the city skyline, with a very comfortable looking couch in the living area facing the view. Two doors at either side of the living room lead to bedrooms with luxurious linens, and the marble bathrooms were impeccably finished.
Jack was grinning as he watched you take it all in, leaning up against the door frame to his bedroom as you stood near the window and gaped at the views. Quinn had flopped down on the couch and was texting on his phone.
“Can they gift this to you year-round? I’d like to live here…” You mused, shaking your head at how insane this hockey lifestyle could be.
“We could probably just buy it for you.” Jack said nonchalantly, as he wandered over to stand beside you at the window.
“Yeah, if you want. They’d probably charge us more because I’m a Canuck, though.” Quinn deadpanned, earning a laugh from you and an eye-roll from Jack.
“Speaking of, the guys are all catching up in Petey’s room, so I think I’ll head down there. See you tomorrow after the draft, sugar plum.” Quinn pulled you into a hug, and your heart burst at him using your childhood nickname (which came from one ill-fated ballet performance and you insisted you hated, but secretly loved being called).
You could’ve sworn you saw Quinn wink at Jack before he left the hotel room, but then again, the sleep deprivation could also be sending you loopy.
“Wanna watch a movie?” Jack asked, moving to stand behind you and loop his arms around your waist as you still faced the window. Your heart rate shot through the roof as he pulled you closer, and nestled his head in between your neck and shoulder. You cringed as you realised he could probably feel your pulse beating fast.
“Sure, but no blaming me if I fall asleep on you, sorryyyyy.” You awkwardly maneuvered yourself out of Jack’s embrace and walked over to the couch, sitting down on it and removing your shoes.
“The first time we’ve seen each other in MONTHS and you’re going to fall asleep? Am I that boring? Sheesh.” Jack drawled, watching you from where he stood.
“Yes.” You stuck your tongue out at him, but lost it to a yawn which made you both laugh.
“You know I love you, J. I would happily pull an all-nighter with you, but I don’t think two in a row is probably good for me.”
“Two in a row? What, where you out partying hard last night?” Jack’s voice trailed off as he wandered off into the bedroom, leaving the door open behind him. You heard a drawer open and a light thud onto the floor, and your throat tightened when you realised Jack was changing his clothes. God, you’d gotten changed in front of each other a million times. Why was your brain making everything so weird tonight?
“Not quite. Had a disaster that involved accidentally deleting my entire essay, sobbing for an hour, then staying up until 3am to write the whole thing. Living the dream, as per usual.” You rattled off, trying to sound nonchalant about, even though just thinking about last night made you nauseous with anxiety. Your nonchalance was clearly unconvincing, as Jack came back out of the bedroom clad in a hoodie and sweats and bee-lined for you, his face covered in concern.
“Don’t look at me like that. It’s fine, I promise. All part of the college experience.” You weren’t sure if you were trying to convince yourself or Jack more. He couldn’t either, but instead of pushing the issue, he threw a hoodie at your head and laughed when you looked offended.
“I’m definitely falling asleep if I put this on, by the way. You know I love being cozy. Cozy is my natural state of being.” You pulled your hair up into a loose bun using the hair tie on your wrist, before pulling the black Devils hoodie over your head.
Jack slotted himself beside you on the couch and reached his arm over your shoulders, finding the remote with his other hand and navigating the ridiculously large TV onto Netflix.
“Fine by be, sugarplum. I’d rather know you’re getting sleep here than send you home to stress yourself out more.”  Jack mused, his fingers absentmindedly stroking your arm while he found the latest season of a TV show you both loved to watch and pressed play.
“I’m not stres - it was just one essay - I promise I’m fine.” You sputtered, tripping over your words when Jack locked eyes with you, his gaze empathetic but all-knowing.
“Besides, I’m not the only one in the room worth worrying about.” You said softly, nudging Jack’s side gently. Jack rolled his lips between his teeth, and sighed; he put down the remote and pulled his hoodie sleeves over his hands.
“But we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. You’re not letting anyone down, though. Quinn doesn’t think that.” You continued, softly, not wanting to cause tension.
Jack sighed deeply again and pulled his arm away from you, leaning forward and rubbing his face with both hands.
“You don’t know what Quinny’s thinking, sugar. And it’s not just Quinn, it’s the fucking journalists, and Bratter’s vacation being ruined, and goddamn Michael Bublé being disappointed in me, and - just - fucking all of it.” Jack exhaled deeply, running his fingers through his hair in frustration.
You didn’t know what to say, because you could tell that Jack wasn’t in a mood that you could talk him down out of. But you could tell he needed comfort, needed reassurance, needed to know that you still had his back. Ever since kindergarten.
You grabbed the back of Jack’s hoodie and gently tugged it, and he leaned back against the couch. You tapped Jack’s legs next, and he moved them up onto the other side of the L-shaped couch, so he was properly reclining. You paused, trying to figure out how to position yourself without being literally on top of Jack, but while your brain was running a million miles a minute, Jack’s hand found yours and yanked you towards him gently. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, before adjusting yourself between Jack’s body and the side of the couch. Jack’s arm found a home over your hips and settled gently on your stomach, pulling your back against his chest. You felt his breath on your neck as you both wriggled around, trying to get comfortable.

“Is this okay, sugar?” Jack’s voice was barely a whisper, directly into your ear. You didn’t trust your voice not to squeak a response so you simply nodded, trying desperately to calm your fast beating heart.
You rested your hand on top of Jack’s and gently squeezed, feeling yourself starting to lull to sleep. Despite the butterflies and your heart jumping out of your chest, you somehow had never felt more at peace, right in this moment.
This was safe, this was calm. This was home.

in which wyatt proposes to you.
warnings; none that i can think of? unless you count la la land as a warning because that movie is traumatic let’s be real
21 year old Wyatt Johnston looked at his teammate, Logan Stankoven, a Nikon camera displayed obviously in his hands. The Toronto, Canada native smiled nervously. "Calm down, Wyatt. You've got this, it's alright."
He nodded at Logan as he turned the camera on to record.
"Hey Wyatt!"
"Hey mom! Uhh... I actually... I wanted to give you a call and let you know some big news. You've probably seen this coming now for a little bit, but I want to let you know that I'm planning on asking Y/N to marry me."
"Oh, Wyatt! It's about time!"
dear y/n,
the moment i saw you i knew my life would change forever. the first thing i said to you was that you are going to be my wife. well, now i want to make that a reality. with you by my side on this journey through life i know we will continue to grow closer and our love will deepen. most of the time will be amazing. some of the time, maybe not. but i know that it's always going to be fun with my best friend helping me along the way. you're the most loving, courageous, and strongest person i've ever met. i can't wait for a lifetime full of smiles, laughter, competition, adventure, and ice cream with you.
sincerely yours,
wyatt :)
"Y/N, right now you think I'm at morning practice... and I lied to you." Wyatt chuckled into the camera, much to the entertainment of his 21 year old teammate behind it. Suddenly, he grabbed the camera from Logan, "However, Logan's leaving for Kamloops a week from now, and that's when I was gonna propose."
Logan chuckled, "Yeah, about that. I pushed my flight back a day so that I could be here to help you on the actual day." he turned to Wyatt with a wide smile on his face, and Wyatt pulled him into a tight hug.
THE MORNING OF THE PROPOSAL:
Logan Stankoven found himself behind the Nikon camera once again, recording Wyatt Johnston hanging up pictures of himself and his beautiful girlfriend, Y/N.
There was a picture of you and Wyatt eating ice cream in Italy with a ton of birds surrounding you, a picture of Wyatt in the stands cheering you on at your recent graduation, a picture of you doing the same at one of his NHL games, and another picture of you back in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. Then there was his favorite picture of the two of you - you two slow dancing by the fire on Christmas Eve.
Wyatt remembered that night vividly. The song 'Dream A Little Dream of Me' by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong was playing softly in the background, and your boyfriend had his arms snaked softly around your waist, your arms hanging loosely around his neck. You both had huge grins plastered onto your faces, and the night was all-around unforgettable.
All in all, there were close to 100 pictures strung all around yours and Wyatt's shared apartment. Logan gently sent the camera down on the kitchen table and made sure it was facing him and his 21 year old teammate before helping Wyatt hang up a long line of twinkling fairy lights above the multiple photos.
Making his way back behind the camera, Logan asked, "So, what's the plan?"
Wyatt smiled, "It's our five year anniversary today, so I'm heading to Y/N's apartment and picking her up for a date. Our first date was just your classic dinner and a movie, so I'm doing the exact same thing tonight. I'm taking her to eat at the same restaurant we ate at five years ago today and then we're seeing the same movie, La La Land, because it's back in theaters tonight only, so that works out so perfectly."
Logan smiled, "This is going to be so cute. She's going to love it."
THE NIGHT OF THE PROPOSAL:
Wyatt held hands with his amazing and beautiful girlfriend (and hopefully soon to be fiancée) as they made their way to the front door of his apartment. Little did you know, Wyatt's teammate and your best friend, Logan Stankoven, was behind that door, a black Nikon camera in his hands in order to capture the magical events that would unfold soon.
As the door opened, the first thing you noticed was Logan filming, and you looked at him and then your boyfriend with a confused look on your face. Logan smiled cheekily and Wyatt allowed you to head inside before closing the door behind you and quickly making his way to the backyard.
As you made your way to the kitchen, with Logan behind you, of course, you were shocked to see the completely dark room. The only thing illuminating it was multiple strings of fairy lights strung above 100+ photos of you and Wyatt. Below your feet was a path of rose petals, leading towards the glass door that opened towards the backyard.
You looked back towards Logan and the camera with tears in your eyes, and Logan just smiled brightly, a few tears now brimming in his eyes, too. You made your way to the backward and low and behold, there stood your boyfriend. As you reached him, Wyatt softly gripped your hands in his.
"Y/N," he started, smiling, "You have made me the happiest man in this entire world the past two years. I love you so much, and I hope I'm making you happy, too. I want you to be with me through wins, and through losses, through the good and the bad. I want to spend the rest of my life with you; nothing would make me happier. So, what do you say? Will you make me even happier than I am right now and marry me?"
You nodded at your boyfriend, tears in your eyes, "Yes. A million times yes."
Five years ago, you would have never dreamed of this moment, or even of Wyatt himself. But, to the credit of the movie that started it all for the two of you, here's to the fools who dream.
a/n; so i kinda took a different approach with this one and i'm not sure if i like it. i would love to hear what you guys think so please don't hesitate to let me know how you feel about it!

Creator Spotlight: @kevinbparry
Kevin Parry is a stop-motion animator and visual effects artist in Toronto, Canada, who creates magical and mind-bending content for brands. Prior to working in social media full-time, he animated a number of stop-motion feature films at Portland-based LAIKA.
Check out our interview with Kevin below!
How did you get your start in stop motion and animation in general?
I was always very interested in moviemaking (monster makeup and visual effects), and that led to me studying animation in college, where I specialized in stop-motion.
How has technology changed the way you approach your work?
The shift to shorter content through social media feeds has made me approach storytelling in a more concise way. When I first started my career, ‘short form’ meant a story maybe 4 minutes in length. Now, I make videos that are as short as 4 seconds!
Over the years as an animator, who/what were your biggest inspirations behind your creativity?
I’m a big fan of directors and artists who have a bit more texture to their work - blending old-school, handcrafted techniques with modern technology. Filmmakers like Michel Gondry and Wes Anderson. And, of course, magicians! The surprise and delight of magic is something I try to capture in my work.
If there is one thing you want your audience to remember about your work, what would it be?
That I left them feeling stumped and curious about how I made it! It’s the best feeling when someone tells me they watched my video a dozen times and still can’t figure it out.
As we’re wrapping up with the year, what is one thing you learnt about yourself as a creator in 2022? Any goals for 2023?
This year, I’ve been focusing on making my work less polished. Meaning ditching green screens and doing a lot more of my stop-motion and visual effects in camera. It’s a bit of a battle with the perfectionist in me, but I think my work can have a lot more charm to it if I embrace mistakes and the rougher edges.
How did you transition from working for a company to working freelance?
I was working on stop-motion animated feature films at LAIKA and then eventually left to pursue social media full-time. There were a few years of overlap where I built up an audience and had already started to get offers from companies before finally making the leap. I’m thankful for all the years spent doing studio work because it prepared me for the business side of freelance—stuff like pitching concepts and understanding when work needs to serve the client and not myself.
Do you have any tips for creators out there looking to make the same move?
My two tips are:
Be as unique as possible. You want to give companies a reason to come to you, and not someone else.
Find a balance in your work between Hollywood and homemade. You want it to be professional enough that companies trust you with their brand but approachable enough that it blends in well on social media.
Who on Tumblr inspires you and why?
To be honest, I’m new to Tumblr! I signed up a few weeks ago and have just begun to explore the fantastic content. If people can leave a comment with who I should check out, that would be fantastic!
Thank you for stopping by, Kevin! Be sure to check out more of their work over at @kevinbparry, and drop a comment below with who Kevin should check out on Tumblr!

POLAROID
Tumblr media
Paring: Jung Jaehyun x afab!Reader. [For the sake of this fic, NCT 127 had a concert in Toronto, Canada during the North American leg of Neo City - The Link Tour. The exact date is not important, but if you want a rough timeline, imagine the concert to be somewhere around January 2023, after their three concerts in the USA. The actual concerts that happened in Toronto were in May 2019, but they are too old for the fic. This is just in case you are curious about the timeline. Otherwise, it doesn't really hold any importance for now.] Genre: - fluff, angst, sexual themes. Words: - 2.5K
Warnings:- Kissing, making out, grinding. Summary:- It’s a chilly night in Toronto, and the idea of spending it in the warmth of a stranger’s presence is too good to pass on.
If someone asked you what night was, you’d probably say it was him. He was wind and gale, and zephyr and melody. He was calm. He was cold and warm. And maybe you won’t admit this out loud, but he was love. He was regret and yet the best decision you’d made that night. One night with him showed you what it truly meant to be alive. Part of it may have been because he was a stranger. It was easy to let go when there were no burdens or pains crawling between your intertwined hands.
You’d met him back home, in Toronto, in an empty park. It was a night that seemed to take away all your stress.
“Aren’t you cold?” was the first thing he’d said to you. You were out in a park late in the night, with very less people around. It was nice and quiet, and you couldn’t resist sitting there. The view of the city calms you down after a stressful workday. For some reason, he gave you doubtful glances from behind his round glasses and beanie, as if he was looking for something on you. ‘Cute’ was the first thing that popped up in your mind, but you couldn’t figure out why he was looking at you suspiciously.
“A bit, but I’d endure it for this view.” You bury your gloved hands deeper into your pockets as you decide to answer his question.
“Well, aren’t you right about the view?” He said, staring into your eyes, not even glancing at the view. It was embarrassing to admit how your heart had skipped a beat at his cheesy line. Although it was fairly too common, and you had heard it quite a few times from different mouths, his sounded so genuine. Like he isn’t looking to impress, but just a thought he verbalised. He looks around a bit, before taking a seat beside you.
It takes you a moment to realise you are staring at him.
“Can I look at them?” You ask, trying to make an excuse.
“Look at what?”
“You must have taken some pictures with that Polaroid camera over there.”
“Oh. Okay, Sherlock. Only if you let me see yours though.” He says, pointing at your own camera.
The camera-swapping session soon turned into a long conversation, and you both decided to warm yourselves to search for a cafe downtown and warm yourselves with a cup of coffee. The streets were bustling despite the cold, as families and partygoers hopped in and out of clubs, restaurants, and taxis. The New Year spirit was yet to die down. You never thought that a walk around the town with a man who was practically a stranger would be this soothing.
You were happily strolling, occasionally brushing your hands and fingers against each other. He had enough after a few back-and-forth lingering touches and decided to just entwine your hands instead. Warmth settled in your body as you traced his knuckles. The redness of his ears was just a cherry on top. You eventually settled on bouldering after getting done with grabbing your coffee at a Tim Hortons. It was much warmer inside, and you both tucked away your extra layer of clothing.
It was nearing midnight, but it seemed like Toronto never slept. There were plenty of people in the bouldering gym. You gave him an introduction, telling him how to use the holds, what to do, etc. To give him a practical example, you climbed a wall for beginners. The activity was something you often enjoyed doing with your friends, so you eventually got good at it, even if you weren’t a pro.
“Whoa, that was so good.” He shouted as you stood atop the wall, climbing it with ease. Although you weren’t particularly looking to impress him, you wouldn’t deny that his compliment felt good.
“You can do it too. Come on, give it a try.” You shout back, standing on the edge. He gives you a nod, dipping his hands into chalk as he grips the first hold and starts to ascend. He was doing exceptionally well for a first-timer. Maybe it was because of all that time in the gym because was clearly visible from his toned body.
“A couple more and you are good to go. Come on.” You cheer for him as nears the end of the wall. The pads of his fingers slip from the crimp as he tries to reach for the jug above him. He slides down, his legs catching onto the holds below.
“Careful. You gasp at him.
“I’m fine. Fine.” He reassures, trying and succeeding in climbing the jug. Now all he needed to do, was climb over the edge. He slings one leg over, grabbing with his hand. You bend down, giving him your hand to give him an extra push.
“Thanks.” He mumbles as he takes it. You put your other hand above his own, and as you pull him up, he pushes himself, causing you to tumble backwards along with him.
You fall on your back, both your hands still clutching his as you look up at him in surprise. He looks shocked at first, but his expression changes the longer he looks at your face. Your face contorted in confusion when he started chuckling, wondering what was so funny about him crushing you underneath his body.
“Your face is covered in chalk.” He explains, raising his hand that isn't still clutching yours to wipe your face, only to realize his hands are dirty as well. None of you attempt to move as he fishes his handkerchief out of his pocket. You close your eyes, reveling in the feeling of his breath on your face as he wipes your face gently. Butterflies dance in his stomach as well.
He admires your face, the couple of moles you have. His gaze lands on your closed eyes, lingering on your lips. The lip gloss you were wearing earlier almost wiped off, slightly covered in chalk. He wipes them as well, unable to resist touching your lips, even if it was with just his handkerchief. You open your eyes to his dreamy ones, the handkerchief long forgotten as you mirror the hazy expression on his face.
It was like a staring match, both of you fighting for who’d look away first. None of you do, both in a daze as his face inches closer, your lips almost touching. He looks up once, looking for any hesitation, a sign that says you don’t want the same. You don’t waver, clutching his hand tighter instead, a silent plea to close what was left of the distance between your lips. His eyes glow a little, closing as he places his lips on yours.
Your hand immediately comes up to grip the collar of his shirt as you deepen the kiss. You both lie there like two touch-hungry teenagers. A few onlookers groan at the unnecessary PDA, telling you to take it somewhere else. You both shut out the noise of a lady shouting expletives at you, the fire in your cores too exciting to give a fuck. His hand slides to your waist, slightly lifting your top to gain access to your skin. Shivers run down your spine, your tongue prying his mouth open to intensify the kiss. He opens up for you, letting you explore his mouth. You reluctantly pull away as the lady shouts again, threatening to call the guards.
“Meet me at the stalls”, is the only thing you whisper as you both scramble to get up and straighten your clothes. You’re gone in a second, leaving him behind to ponder about what just happened. It was so unlike him to draw attention to himself in public, especially when he was roaming around without his group, the manager or the crew. The fact that he could do something as scandalous as kissing a girl out in the open had left him baffled. No one seemed to recognise him or record anything as he looked around, and he sighed in relief. He would be screwed if his manager knew.
He quickly pushes his thoughts about his manager to the back of his head as he remembers you were waiting for him. Hesitant, he lingers outside the stalls, the common washroom seemingly empty as he knocks on a couple of doors. The nerves in his body make him feel uneasy. Maybe it was the thrill of sneaking around like this. The door to the last stall opens as walks closer, and he is pulled inside. You push him to sit on the closed lid of the toilet in a flash. The look of surprise adorning his face makes you chuckle, cupping his cheek as you straddle his lap.
“You took so long, I thought you weren't coming.”
His hands slide on your waist, “Well, I had to. I haven’t asked you out on a date yet”, he says.
Maybe it was a bold move for him. He’d had his fair share of flings and dates, but he never dated anybody seriously. They either went crazy about his fame, or it was the money. He always had to go through so much trouble just to make sure nothing was suspicious about them. There was always a possibility that it was some crazy fan of his, pretending to be a date. Yet he doesn’t know what came over him, but he surely doesn’t regret it.
Something about you had struck him tonight. When he found you sitting in the park all alone, he was suspicious about your intentions. The other day he was roaming around, and someone followed him all the way from the restaurant he had his lunch at, to the place he was planning to have dinner. It wasn’t until he threatened the guy with cops that he left him alone. So his having doubts about you made complete sense.
Although, as the night progressed, he found himself enjoying your company. No one had ever been so genuine with him, soothing him simply with their presence. The the hand-in-hand walks and your sweet talks pulled him in. You were making all the the stress of his day go away without even doing anything. Whatever this was, there was one thing he was sure of. He didn’t want to let go.
“Are you seriously asking me that here of all places? What is it? No one ever kissed you this good?” You chuckle, breathing heavily as his hands roam your middle, resting just below your breasts. He just nods along as he laughs under his breath, and the warm air falling on your neck turns you on even more. He peppers kisses there, his wet mouth surely leaving behind a couple of marks.
“Tell you what.” you say. “Ask me that again after we get out of here, and I might just say yes.”
Your eyes hold fire as you move your hips, rubbing yourself on his hard-on, claiming his mouth again. He pulls you in, a hand rising to squeeze your breasts now. He pulls you closer, decreasing the minimal space between your bodies. He grabs your hips, setting a pace. The friction from your pants almost feels too good to be true. By the time you became aware of your fingers, they were already under his shirt, grazing his nipples. He moans in your mouth, his stomach twisting in knots.
The phone buzzing in his pocket pulls you both out of your haze. You express your disappointment as his hand leaves your body to reach for his phone. You decide to continue kissing his neck making him stutter as talks in a language you don’t quite understand. You are too aroused to care about trying to figure out the language anyway. His hands find their way back to your waist as he hastily cuts the call.
“Stay here.” He mutters, eyes closed, relishing in the feeling of your body on his.
“What?” You groan, eyes portraying the confusion you felt. “I need to make a call. I’ll be back. I promise.” Your face falls in disappointment, but you have no choice except to agree. The fire in your core would just have to wait.
“Be quick.” You quip, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. He smiles at you, leaning to give you a final kiss as he adjusts himself, tying his jacket around his front to cover up his clearly horny self.
15 minutes later, you are standing outside, staring at the Polaroid as all sorts of thoughts run through your head. You look at his fond expression as he stares at your face in the picture. It certainly wasn’t the look of someone who was spending the night with a stranger.  He was admiring you, smiling in the way his dimples showed, the light striking his eyes at the perfect angle, making his dark brown eyes stand out even more.
You had taken the at Tim Hortons while you both looking through each other’s cameras. You were looking at all the Polaroids he had takes on the beautiful city while he went trough your camera roll, where you had captured the people of the city, your coffees running cold.
“Your photography makes even the most mundane things come alive.” He said. “But what about you? Who is capturing your charm? Beauty?” He added, proceeding to keep on taking pictures of you. That was when you slid beside him, sliding one hand to hold his face as you took a selfie through his Polaroid. He smiled at you, taking another one you each had one to keep.
You desperately wish calling him was an option. You both had somehow forgotten to exchange numbers through the night. The area around was emptying as it was past midnight now. Dejectedly, you called a cab to go home. You kept looking around until it arrived, hoping that maybe he would pop out of somewhere. Maybe he had just wandered off during the call by mistake. But as you get into the cab, still looking around and through the mirror for any sign of him, it settles in. He was gone. He wasn’t coming back, not for a stranger. And as it turns out, you would probably never see him again.
As silly as it was, you kept going to the park after that, in hopes of seeing him once again. Always going at the same time as the day you’d seen him for the first time, only to never see him again. Eventually, the park just became a place of solace for you. It probably was a heartbroken act. If you could even call it that. But nothing had ever hurt you more than the fact that the night that was probably the happiest in your life for you, meant nothing to him. Was it all just a fever dream?

Pls tell me more about ur news experience while protesting the Ford gov and their shitty choices?
I was going to UofT at the time when the ford government gutted OSAP, the ontario student aid program for those out of the know. They converted all grants into loans and no longer gave money to cover living expenses, and they struck down the 6 month grace period ontario students had after graduation to find well-paying jobs before their repayment started.
For the americans here, i should contextualize that student loans in canada do not at all work like they do in the US. We take out loans from a combination of the federal government (known as NSLSC loans) and our provinces of residence specifically. When we apply, we fill out our financial info including our income and if we are considered an "independent" student or not, the legal definition of which differs depending on your province of residence. The main difference being that independent students dont include their parents' incomes when they first apply, theyre considered their sole and only breadwinner. Depending on that income and a few other personal points, you get a combination of loans and grants that cover both tuition and partial living expenses, and when you graduate, the federal government takes all your loan and income info and doles you out a personalized regular payment plan so you have it completely paid off after 10 years if you follow it. And you have 6 months after you graduate uni to find a job and get settled where you don't pay anything. Theres also other options if you still cant pay like the repayment assistance program that freezes your payments entirely if you prove youre below a certain wealth bracket, but thats the gist of it.
Now that everyone knows the context i can tell the story. The ford government of ontario circa 2019 decided that ontario university students dont need living expense coverage, that it would universally be loans regardless of any low income status, and that the post-grad grace period wasnt necessary. And being in one of the most expensive cities in the country, that was not going to fly with my peers.
I personally took out my provincial loans from alberta student aid that has all those benefits, so the OSAP gut didnt actually affect me at all, but injustice is still injustice even if it doesnt affect me, so i joined the student protests against the ford government that people were bussing in from the other side of the province to attend. At some point along the line, other folks noticed that i was comfortable around the news cameras and my main strengths were in public speaking, so when cameras were around asking for interviews i was pushed in front of them a lot to be trusted to explain our grievances and goals without getting noticeably hotheaded, so i did a lot of live interviews for CTV and citynews toronto during those few months.
And they were kinda right to do that. Im really good at interviews and public speaking and arguing points in general, and not the best at more hands-on things when it comes to activism. And like, you do need PR people to get support for a cause, contrary to what a lot of tumblr users seem to think. Like you need people whose jobs are to present your grievances and reasons for marching in a way that presents you as respectful and worth listening to and considering the points of. So that was mainly my role in those protests. I dont know if you can still easily find those interviews buried in their broadcast archives but if you want to look for me be my guest

Fanfiction - “Meeting in Toronto” - Part 1 on 4 by me
Do not hesitate to tell me what you think. Sorry for all mistakes.
Tumblr media
June knows about the deal between Nick and the US government. She knows he crossed the border to see her at the hospital and he gave a punch to Joseph back at Gilead. She knows Nick blowed up his life for her. Everybody breaks, she recalls.
June is so angry that he can think a second he is nothing. Because it is absolutely not the case, not for her. She blames herself. Fortunately Gilead did not put him on that f**king wall to punish him. Because she would never have recovered.
June had many very difficult chat with Luke. He deserved to know the truth. She wanted to be honest. He does not understand and thinks she suffers a sort of Stockholm syndrome. Even a psychologist could not convince him of the contrary.
A day, while she prepares Nichole for a nap, she receives a phone call. Mark needs to see her for a private meeting: Good news, Nick could be at Toronto soon.
Officially he will there to represent Gilead and to prove his allegiance to his country. Unoffically, he will be there to collaborate and to bring some informations to Tuello. But there is a problem, he could be there with others Commanders.
Alone or not, he will stay at the Fairmont Royal York hotel but he will have two rooms on two differents storeys. The first room will be a suite, the official room for the Commander he is. The second room will be secret, where he will have to take a private elevator to access it. Where the cameras in the storey will be all off.
Nick's schedule will be busy, he will have to juggle between his obligations (to visit Gilead Information Center, to lunch with politicians …) and his duties (as a spy).
After a few days of negotiation, he finally arrives with only two guardians: Sean and Kyle. They work for The Eyes. But above all and luckily they are trustworthy men.
Nick's days are full and exhausting. He is also dying to contact June, to hear her voice and to see their daughter: Nichole. But he must be very careful for their safety. He is aware that he might not see them although he is in Canada.
For his fourth day at Toronto, Nick meets Mark for the second time but the latter quickly uses the pretext of an urgent meeting to shorten the working time.
4:45 PM. Ready to leave his unofficial room someone knocks at the door. Nick opens and is pleasantly surprised: Hi! June is there with a bag. She is all smile and hands him a piece of paper: Please read and sign. He raises an eyebrow.
Dear Mister Williams, I am sorry to inform you that I will be not able to make it to the ball tonight. I have a terrible headache. I hope to be able to meet you before I return to Gilead. With my best regards. Commandant Nick Blaine.
June gives the signed note and a tip to the butler. She looks to Nick, puts on the door the sign “Do not disturb”, enters in the room and locks the door. While absolutely not taking her eyes off him, she takes off her coat, her dress and her sneakers. Where is Nichole?, Nick whispers. With her godmother. He nods.
As their first time, he waits and holds his breath. With a suspender belt, she is absolutely and terribly sexy. June approaches to him, she looks at him amused and lowers his suspenders, undoes the buttons of his shirt before to continue with his pant. Nick looks at her, he worships her. She approaches closer and kisses him.
🙈 Rated X.🙈 I deliberately give free rein to your imagination. If anyone is inspired to write the scene, it is welcome.
7:25 PM. Nick looks at the clock before returning his attention to his sweetheart who is both satisfied and drowsy. He savors this precious moment where he finds refuge in the arms of the woman he loves. He then allows himself a little rest.
Twenty minutes later June wakes up, stands up and goes to the bathroom. Back to the bed, she looks at Nick who is sleeping. She smiles seeing his curls. He looks so peaceful but older than his age. As long as Gilead will exist, things will not be easy.
June stares into space. She thinks to Hannah, she can never resolve to leave her baby in this shitty place. If only all this did not exist. If only Gilead could burn.
- Everything is ok?, Nick asks. - I want to be your wife … I mean legally. I want to take Hannah and Nichole to Hawaii. Swim in the beach with you. Drink cocktails while watching the girls play together. I do not want to wait any longer. I want us to be able to go home together right now! I do not want us to be separated anymore. I am so tired of this shit.
- I know, he answers before to take her in his arms. I know.
- I would like another baby, June says shyly. Nick looks at her surprised. Please do not answer. Because I know how it is completely ridiculous, she murmurs. - It just I did not expect that, Nick answers. And no it is not ridiculous, it is just …
He stops. They both know why they can not and remain silent.
Few minutes later, June looks at him, stands up and comes back with her bag:
- Oh I forgot! I bright you some surprises ... I bring you some Nichole’s pictures ...
- Our daughter is beautiful, Nick smiles. She is so lovable. - And like her dada she hates tuna, June reveals laughting. - Really? - Yes she totally hates that. - She is a whole different person. She is growing up so fast.
- Look this one. Nichole plays with a little boy and a little girl. - Who is this boy?, Nick asks teasingly and raising an eyebrow. - Nick, June replies laughing. His name is Christopher and he is three months younger than our daughter. This is his twin sister: Addison. They moved to Europe.
- Nichole asks for a puppy. June looks at him. What do you think? - If it is not too much for you, I am fine with the idea. - Are there any allergies in your family? - Not that I know ... Nick smiles but thinks that he misses her so much.
- Oh look at these, we visited a farm. She loved horses, chickens, rabbits, cows but was scare by pigs. And these one, it was at the carousel, we were with Rita. - How is she? - Rita? She is fine. She baked some cookies for you. She hands him a metal box.
- Thanks so much for all of this, that is adorable. Please say thanks to Rita for me. - I promise. June puts the photos on the bedside table where there is a small cactus. - Would you like something to eat?, Nick asks. - I am not hungry. Not for food. She eyes at him suggestively.
(A cactus is a symbol of warmth and unconditional, enduring love).
Tumblr media
4:55 AM. The hotel phone rings once and then twice a minute later. It is a code to tell to June that she has ten minutes to get ready, to say goodbye and to leave.
The two quickly get dressed and Nick takes June's hands:
- Keep Nichole safe. Keep yourself safe. Promise me. - I promise you ... I will. - Tell Nichole that I love and I miss her. I think about her all the time. - I will ... Please take care of you too. I do not want to lose you. - I promise you.
He pulls her into his arms and he kisses her.
- I love you, Nick caresses June's cheek. - I love you too, she answers by kissing him in return.
This goodbye is heartbreaking for both. They kiss a last time and she leaves.

Forgotten Legends: 3 Underrated Animators Who Shaped the Industry
The top 3 underrated animators of all time. (according to my point of view)
And the list is -
Richard Williams
2. Lotte Reiniger
3. Caroline Leaf
Richard Williams.
Tumblr media
Richard Williams is an animator who left an indelible mark on the world of animation through his stunning artwork, creative vision, and unique animation techniques. In this article, we will delve into his life, from his childhood to his rise as a prominent animator and filmmaker.
Early Life.
Tumblr media
Richard Williams was born in Toronto, Canada in 1933. As a child, he was interested in drawing, and his mother encouraged him to pursue his passion. Williams was particularly inspired by the work of Disney animators, and he began to experiment with animation at a young age, using a camera his father had given him to create his own short films.
Career Beginnings.
In the late 1950s, Williams moved to London, England to pursue a career in animation. He worked on various projects, including commercials and short films, and quickly established himself as a talented and innovative animator. One of his earliest successes was the animated opening sequence for the feature film "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (1968), which showcased his unique style and approach to animation.

Famous Animations.
Williams is perhaps best known for his work on "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988), which he directed and produced. In addition to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," Williams worked on many other animated projects throughout his career, including the film "The Thief and the Cobbler" (1993), which he spent over 25 years developing.
