"Well I can't deny my interest is peaked. Come, sit."
The young demon swings her legs off the side of the chaise, and pats the end of it imperiously. Meg doesn't let herself hesitate, even though it's difficult to walk into a cave of treasures with its dragon awake and watching. Closer, Meg can see that she's strung a fine silver chain between her horns, and fitted gold rings over the tips. A demon is never beautiful, but the attempt strikes a match at Meg's pride. Why pretend? Why make out like you're better than the rest of them just because you're closer to who you used to be? Just because you haven't yet truly caused pain?
Pushing down her ire, Meg begins: "I humbly request, Procurer-"
"Oh, please," The Procurer waves a hand airily, "call me Bela. I can't stand all this genuflecting."
Meg glances at the scepter on the floor and raises a skeptical eyebrow, which makes her laugh.
"Just because a girl likes her trinkets doesn't mean she's stuck up, darling. I crawled through the pit like everyone else."
