People act like Bruce adopted Dick as a kid because they don't read the comics (maybe they never did beside WFA). Which is totally fine except when they come into other people's spaces trying to police their fandom experience on the basis of comics they never read and things they came up with because they liked them, like Bruce simply being Dick's dad without any gray area in their relationship.

Another pet peeve of mine, bc apparently i love complaining, is ppl acting like bruce adopted dick as a kid. He was a grown ass adult by the time bruce showed up with papers in an attempt to slap a big ol bandaid on decades worth of issues

#Ramblings #I hate the oversimplified 'Bruce is Dick's father' bullshit take #For fucks sake it's not so simple #There are so many complex feelings between them that Babs literally tells Dick 'we can't be together because I'm not Bruce'#'and you won't be happy with anyone who isn't Bruce'#Like yes Bruce IS (or better he SHOULD BE) a nurturing paternal figure but HE'S NOT DICK'S FATHER GDI #A father doesn't bring a son willingly on the battlefield of a never ending war that will cripple his human experience #And stunt his chances at having a normal healthy life #DC knows that well enough that when they decided to give B a blood son they made it so Damian was ALREADY a child soldier #And the choice of making him Robin fell on Dick anyway #So Bruce could easily fill in the role after Talia and Dick did the rest of the work and he could easily be a father #Without the controversy of making his own blood son into a soldier #Because God forbid DC let Bruce do anything THEY perceive as controversial #But anyway #Bruce Wayne #Dick Grayson
