Architecture Photography: Somewhere in New York Series . In order to survive things must adapt to the cpnstant changes of the the world. It is the same for buildings, they either adapt or comply with the changes of the city or fall to ruins. . . . #fireescape #rulesofsurvival #changeisenvitable #beautyofchange #architectureoftheday #fridayfeels #architecturethoughts #adaptation (at Chelsea, Manhattan) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzQ3L6lH1DK/?igshid=ghj036d12q36

Beauty of Change
While listening to "Xizi She Knows" by Imogen Heap, I glanced at a few of the comments. Two comments, one the original post and the other a reply to it, present interesting points about changing culture.
The original comment:
This song makes me wanna cry because the rapid loss of culture and tradition is a reality that's happening in many parts of asia, especially China, and some of the most beautiful things of one's cultural identity is now only held by the older generations. Thank you Imogen, for capturing how I feel in just a matter of magical minutes.
The reply:
Cultural identity is something that's always changing. To say China is "losing culture" is to think of culture as a static thing frozen in time and place, which it never is and has never been. To me this video marvelously captures that change, showing China in a way that makes me excited to learn more and see how in time the dust will settle.
With the first comment, I agree that many unique and beautiful cultural characteristics do seem to fade away with time. However, maybe there is good reason for traditions to fade away or be adapted to current ways of life. Maybe the term "losing culture" is not apropos. The culture is not being lost, simply adapted or evolved. Being able to look back on, and even practice, some of the old traditions is good because it shows how, and possibly why, that culture has developed the way it has.
Change is inevitable. We are always changing. Certain events and things have greater influence on how we change. Without change, life would be boring.
I look forward to change and enjoy thinking about how we can be part of, or even the influence behind, it.
I know, this is only a tiny blurb about the vast topic that is change. I feel I cannot do it justice, but hope that this provokes thought.
Also, enjoy the song!:
