With Brooke's permission, Mavis reached out and pulled the box closer to her. She opened it and then leaned down to take a curious sniff. It smelled overwhelmingly sweet. “Thank you,” Mavis said, before reaching in and picking up one of the cookies. She took a bite without much hesitation. It was nice and soft and as sweet as she thought it would be. “I have no idea what a s'more is but I think it's my new favourite thing ever.” She'd have to make sure to stock up on this stuff before leaving.

Aha! Earth! Finally. She was hoping to land here again. The last time didn't really count—what with all the fighting and dying and stuff. She wanted to wearing one of those rollercoaster thingies like Peter had mentioned. Or was it something you were supposed to sit on? “Ohhh, yay, Earth! That's exciting! My brother's from Earth. He told it me it was usually more fun when it wasn't overrun by evil aliens and stuff.”

Mavis balked a little at Brooke's question. Nobody's ever asked her that before. Granted, she hasn't met many people yet, but still. Maybe one day someone might even ask her her last name. That would really be crazy. “I have no idea where my home planet is. There's so many, you know? And my father stole me from my mother when I was just baby, so I can't remember where it was or what it was even called.” She licked some of the crumbs off the side of her mouth and smiled. Rocket said it made bad things seem less worse sometimes, if she smiled while saying them. “My father had a planet all on his own, like he was the planet, and he raised me there. Then it got blown up so it doesn't exist anymore.” All evidence of her childhood, gone. All evidence that Ego had children other than her and Peter, gone. She mourned it sometimes, the caverns, everyone she buried. Mostly though she's just relieved.

brooke looks on as mavis' mind seems to travel somewhere else, almost puzzled. she might have only met one alien before this ( she's still yet to meet kara, but soon! she's coming into town next week, so this might actually be good practice ), but from her very practiced knowledge, they don't usually seem as, uh, spacey. maybe it's a different planets sort of thing. she shouldn't generalize!

" good, i'm glad. because that's all we have. " this was supposed to be their dinner tonight, but she's sure clark will understand. she's got a particular way of convincing him that all her ideas are the best ideas. plus, she'll play up just how much she loves his cooking as a way to get him grumble less about it when she's certain he was looking forward to finishing the rest of his pad thai tonight. brooke makes quick work of putting what's left on to a dish and popping it in the microwave. when she turns back around, she sees mavis eyeing her cookies. well, if clark's unknowingly sacrificing his leftovers, she supposes she should lend the same sort of kindness. " you can have one, if you want, " brooke nods toward the box, " my favorite's the classic chocolate chip, but there's also a s'mores cookie in there that's out of this world. " a beat. " wait, do you know what a s'more is? "

her brow furrows at mavis' next question. okay, yeah, this is definitely freaky alien territory that she hasn't explored before. as far as she knows, krypto doesn't eat batteries. " uh, we probably have some unused ones. we just moved in here like, three weeks ago, so haven't exactly gone through many yet. i'll take a look after you eat. "

" yes, this is earth. " she sounds so sure of herself too 'til mavis continues rambling on and the image she provides is one that makes her nearly sick to her stomach. " um, well, okay then. " brooke's not quite sure how she's supposed to respond to all that. change in topic, perhaps.

" so where are you from? " she asks, the microwave beeping over her question. she grabs the dish, grabs a fork, and slides it mavis' way on the counter.
