"You do not love yourself better than God loves you. You cannot shrink from pain more than He dislikes your bearing it; and if He puts it on you, it is as you would put it on yourself, if you would be wise, for a greater good afterwards.
God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission -- I may never know it in this life but I shall be told it in the next.  I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.  He has not created me for naught.  I shall do good, I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place while not intending it if I do but keep His commandments.
Therefore I will trust Him.  Whatever I am, I can never be thrown away.  If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him.  If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him.  He does nothing in vain.  He knows what He is about.  He may take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers.  He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me -- still He knows what He is about.
Let us feel what we really are--sinners attempting great things.  Let us simply obey God's will, whatever may come.  He can turn all things to our eternal good.  Easter day is preceded by the forty days of Lent, to show us that they only who sow in tears shall reap in joy. The more we do, the more shall we trust in Christ; and that surely is no morose doctrine, that leads us to soothe our selfish restlessness, and forget our fears, in the vision of the Incarnate Son of God."

Thank you, Shauna!
3. if you were any historic trope, what would you be? (i.e., the knight, the town baker, the witch of the forest, etd.)
Probably the eccentric tinkerer. Either that or good old witch of the forest. Or maybe the placid shepherd girl who rarely leaves her hills. I’m pretty flexible.
8. what combination of natural scents would you use as perfume?
I love this. I love this question. Thank you for asking me this question.
It’s a bit of a tie between two combinations. A more feminine scent of orris root, violet, a smidge of licorice. Or a more masculine one of black pepper, vanilla, sandalwood, maybe some tobacco but in a subtle way. Though if I could reliably bottle the natural scent of the ocean in all its sharp, salty, lung-opening beauty, I would.
32. what would you end up in the dungeon for?
Having a stack of love letters I’ve been sending to a nobleman’s fiancee discovered the night before her wedding, detailing plans to fake her death so we can run off together. (I escape wearing men’s clothes, she escapes dressed as a handmaiden, we live happily ever after.)
41. stained glass windows or fairy lights?
Stained glass. I mentioned at some point visiting the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, and a good time of it was spent just staring at the stained glass. I’m not a religious person in any sense, but something about the light shining through the colours and the way it softened everything filled me with this odd sense of elation.
There was also a stretch of time where I didn’t make stained glass (because I was like 16 at the time and had zero means to do that) but I did design some (some of which I made out of cookies and candy, which no one appreciated because stained glass cookies are texturally odd but dammit, I liked them).

Ile d’Orleans, Quebec Canada — Came across some seriously steep roads today with one at 19%; our steepest yet! At the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area the place was teeming with wildlife. Spring has clearly sprung today and with 80 degree weather even the bears and snakes were on the move. We just happened to notice a bear print on the path and when we looked behind us, a black bear was scamping through the woods away from us. Three snakes also crossed our path. Everything seems to be out of winter hibernation. I’ve even seen my own skin for the first time in weeks as we shed some layers. We actually came here for the snow geese. This place is a migratory staging location on their way to the Arctic circle. What a funny sight they were. Thousands of them burying their faces and necks deep into the mud. There’s some tasty nutrient, bulrush, that helps them make the arduous journey. The farmers also are busy prepping their fields. The ski runs still bearing snow on the mountains above watch from above. The Ste-Anne de Beaupre basilica was a stunner. Inside the lovely stained glass windows (214 of them) and the impressive tile work glittered. Took a peek at Park de la Chute-Montmorency which is taller than Niagara Falls but it doesn’t knock your socks off in the same way. Nestled in the mouth of the Saint Lawrence so close to Quebec is the super cute Ile d’Orleans. Charming barely describes this lost in time little island dotted with orchards, workshops and galleries. Boondocked for the night right along the river and walked down to one of the local cafes for dinner.

I normally pair patterned shirts with a tie that has an even bigger pattern.  But today, I went the other way, pairing a relatively roomy crosshatch grey pattern with a more fine-grained green foulard tie.  I topped off the shirt and tie with a grey/black herringbone blazer.
On my left wrist was a Seiko Monster dive watch on a stainless steel bracelet.  Its blood-red “teeth” matched nicely with my maroon pants.  On my right wrist was a black holy bracelet with various holy images (including Saint Therese, the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, Our Lady of Grace, Saint Andre Bessette and more) with a small green beaded bracelet.
All you holy men and women, pray for us.

Two Examples of Collaborative Group Work
1) A Letter Sent to City Council about a reviewed proposal
February 2, 2017
 Dover City Council
123 Blueberry Lane
Dover City, WI 50123
 Dear City Council,
As the assistant city engineer for Dover City, I have reviewed the proposal by Valley Medical, Inc. to install a medical waste incinerator in the area around the Blue Park neighborhood. In examination of the proposal, I believe that the incinerator will bring a lot of positive changes to our community.
The incinerator can boost economy by offering new jobs and increase business to the area. It will also decrease Valley Medical’s costs benefiting the community.  The incinerator offers these benefits at an environmentally safe and emission free level.
The Medical Waste Incinerator will bring a boost to the local economy with about 30 good jobs. Its location near two hospitals and a biotech research facility place it in an active area of Blue Park. This will lead to an increase of business as the area becomes increasingly active with more employees who will shop and require services.
The location of the incinerator is also helpful for the nearby hospital and research facility. The cost of transporting of medical waste would decrease. This decrease in the facility’s cost could later be reflected in the cost of services it offers to the local community. The medical waste will be incinerated upon arrival. This implies that anything hazardous will not be left in the area very long. The emissions from the incinerations will not be hazardous either. Research has been conducted to ensure its safety
From the looks of the large ubiquitous building, one would think it has an even larger effect on the environment. After doing extensive research on the incinerator, in regards to the environmental impact, I have come to a conclusion that it would not be a health hazard to the people of Blue Park. Within my research I looked into similar incinerators, particularly the one built by Valley Medical, they had spotless records. The machine would be equipped with advanced “scrubbers” that remove almost all the particles left over after incineration. Many are worried about the harmful pollutants, such as dioxin and mercury, but these scrubbers can almost completely remove these. Also, arrangements will be made to ensure the medical waste would not sit around in trucks or containers. The waste would be incinerated as soon as it arrives to the site. The environment should not be a concern when deciding the installation of the incinerator.
In conclusion, I would like to thank you for taking time to review my proposal of why I believe the installment of an incinerator would be beneficial and harmless to the community of Dover City. The new incinerator will be beneficial to the hospital and increase the economy of the neighborhood by bringing in new jobs that are easily attainable. With all of the changes, I believe that the changes that will come from the incinerator will be nothing short of great and bring substantial economic benefits to our community.
Sincerely,
 Duane Jackson
