Jake couldn’t really sleep that night. He came back to an empty bed, Dakota nowhere in sight, his head filled with confusion and discomfort as he thought of Y/N. His roommate was blackout drunk, snoring loudly which only made sleep more impossible to take over his mind.
He didn’t really know Y/N, even if they’d known each other for about a month and two weeks. He felt like he knew only superficial things about her like how her major was electrical engineering, that she liked classic rock, horror movies, stuff like that. He didn’t know a thing about her family or herself, but she knew so much about him. She knew about his mother and his father, where he worked, what he liked to do, but he had no idea if she ever revealed a thing about herself.
In class he was exhausted, he drank coffee during each class, keeping his energy up by drinking sip by sip. When he got to the class he shared with Y/N, she smiled at him, not the lazy-polite smile, a soft-concerned smile as she eyed the dark circles beneath his eyes. She came in before Sebastian and Miguel, both of them sitting where they always did, leaving a seat between them for her.
Jake squinted his eyes at the seat with irritation and she stayed back to sit next to him, not in the seat where Dakota always sat in. Her hand gently stroked down his face and his breath stuttered.
“You look like shit,” she murmured with a quiet laugh. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands, suddenly feeling like he dropped all his walls, all his doubts suddenly disappearing. He checked her out, looking at her bare legs, the oversized white dress shirt she wore as a dress under an equally short black and white dress with a long blue coat.
“You look great,” he told her, his hand moving to her knee, ignoring the whispers around him as he slid his hand up the inside of her thigh possessively.
“I know,” she said casually, grabbing his wrist, she stopped him. She copied what he did, her hand sliding up his jeans between his legs and she rubbed him teasingly. “Only I get to tease you,” she whispered when she leaned over to him. Her breath was warm and minty, her soft lips brushing against the shell of his ear made him shiver. He felt more sleepy now that he was being petted by her, her hands rubbing along the bulge that was growing between his legs.
“Fuck, you’re so hot,” he whispered, turning his face to look into her dark and arrogant eyes. He didn’t stop her, but she stopped herself as more people came closer to them, sitting where they usually did. She kissed him softly, and he closed his eyes, relaxing into the kiss, he held her face, his fingers tangling in her soft hair.
“Same time for tutoring?” She asked against his mouth, she pecked his lips once, and he nodded, returning to make out with her instead. He pushed his tongue into her mouth, relaxing, a sigh escaping from his mouth and finding a home in hers. “My room?” She asked, when he pulled away to breathe.
“Yeah, wanna grab lunch together?” He asked, unsure. She pulled away all the way this time, she looked over at Sebastian and Miguel, then at the other two friends she hung out with, Lily and her boyfriend Hale. “Nevermind, it’s okay,” he said and she turned to look at him with a raised brow.
“I could tell them to eat without me, or you can join us if you’d like to,” she offered, kind and soft.
“No, no,” he shook his head, looking at the clock, class would start in about  two minutes. “It’s fine, we can choose another day when you’re not busy,” he chuckled half-heartedly. He turned away from her and looked as Dakota, for the first time, came on time. He heard Y/N sigh and heard her get up off the seat next to him. He looked away from Dakota and stared as she walked away, suddenly laughing as Sebastian excitedly showed her something on a sheet of paper.
He sighed too, Dakota sitting next to him with an indignant attitude. His eyes stayed mostly on Y/N, watching her lazily look between the two guys she saw as friends and then she looked behind her at Lily and Hale, eyes brighter and Hale said something funny because she laughed along with Lily.
That’s what he did most of the class. The professor taught and Y/N and her friends remained quiet the rest of the period. His eyes were stuck on her for most of the class, wondering how it was that emotions were processed by her. He shouldn’t have let Dakota into his head, her friends and even other students spoke to her and liked her. Sometimes she spoke to others, being friendly and kind. She wasn’t what Dakota said and he needed to get over himself.
When class ended, she walked behind Lily and Hale, Miguel and Sebastian talked to each other as she quietly walked in the middle, like a celebrity protected by bodyguards.
“See? She doesn’t care,” Dakota commented, once again carrying nothing to take notes on.
“Can you be quiet about her already?” Jake asked, irritated. She acted innocent as she watched him carelessly shove everything into his backpack. “I’m gonna go to my room, I need to sleep,” he told her, leaving her there. He felt conflicted and tired, too tired to continue going to the rest of his classes, too tired to keep thinking.
He didn’t know how long he’d slept, but like always he had a nightmare about someone he never met before. It was bloody and scary, but he woke up to a gentle voice and the smell of fast food. He thought it was Dakota, so he smacked the hand away and groaned, turning away from her. The laugh she let out was too soft and amused to be Dakota’s, and the bed dipped next to him and he got up tiredly.
He blinked the sleep away and saw Y/N looking down at him with a playful smile. She leaned down to kiss him, immediately straddling his lap, then she shoved him down and giggled, her hands flat on his chest.
“I brought lunch,” she explained, grinding down on him mischievously. He moaned quietly, his hands holding onto her bare thighs, gazing up at her, dazed.
“Y-you did?” He whispered, closing his eyes as she rolled her hips against his, trying to wake him.
“Mmhmm, wake up,” she whined. He opened his eyes, watching her get up and stand by his bed. He looked down at the tent in his boxers, he’d stripped down into them and just slept in the Henley that kept him warm.
“What about.. your friends?” He asked, ignoring the frustrating arousal that she clearly wasn’t interested in satiating. She sat on the extra chair he got for her when she started tutoring him and moved his stuff out of the way to lay out the food.
“What about them?” She asked, raising a brow his way.
“I think you know,” he murmured, still sitting at the edge of his bed. She sighed, looking at him with a blank expression.
“You’re jealous of them, for some reason,” she stated, and he became embarrassed and stared at the window behind her because she didn’t ask, she just said it. “Why?” She asked, curious.
“I don’t know,” he replied, scratching the back of his neck. She gave him a look, one that showed that she didn’t believe him. “I don’t!” He muttered frustratedly, he walked towards her and got down on his knees, resting his face on her legs. She exhaled quietly, her hands finding their way to his head to play with his hair. “And Dakota said some stuff about you…” he mumbled against her thighs, and she scoffed, shaking her head.
“You’re gonna believe what she says?” She asked, then lifted his face by his jaw, forcing him to look at her. “Whatever you have a problem with, whatever doubts you have, tell me, I want to be good for you,” she told him softly. His stomach fluttered at her words, and he pressed his face to her chest, her arms wrapping around his shoulders with a smile.
“I’m just being dumb,” he murmured.
“If it’s got you in such a bad mood, maybe you’re not being dumb,” she chuckled. He moved back to look at her and she pressed her lips against his for a few seconds to reassure him that he wasn’t being silly.
“I just want you to be mine,” he said against her lips and pulled away to watch her.
“I’m yours,” she promised. Her brows furrowed slightly and she blinked once at him. “You don’t have to feel jealous about them, I don’t like them like that,” she comforted softly. “Sebastian has his eye on some girl in maths and Miguel isn’t interested in dating right now, and even if he was, I wouldn’t date him,” she explained, then her eyes darkened as she stared down at him.
“Why do you like me?” He whispered, noticing the gaze as one she gave him yesterday when they were having sex.
“Because you’re sweet,” she replied, pecking his lips, “funny, smart.. and hot,” she chuckled. He stared at her and reached behind her to zip her dress down, she smirked, and kept going. “You care about your mom, you’re not like your dad, you look out for your friends even though they don’t deserve you, you like helping people..” she trailed off, watching him kiss her thighs.
She pulled the dress down her body, lifting her hips off the chair and let him pull it off all the way as she unbuttoned her shirt. He quickly slipped off the ankle boots she was wearing and spread her legs to kiss and bite the inside of her thighs as she finished unbuttoning the long shirt.
He brought her hips forward and tugged at her white panties, leaving her in the unbuttoned shirt and her baby blue socks. She grabbed his face and carefully positioned him on her pussy, encouraging him to taste her. His green eyes stared up at her as his tongue thrusted into her entrance, his mouth salivating as her arousal invaded his taste buds. He moaned softly and licked through her folds to suck on her clit, she moaned quietly, looking at him with hooded eyes, a tiny smirk on her face as she watched him devour her.
“Do you like how I taste, Jake?” She teased, lifting her leg onto his shoulder and spreading the other one to grind against his face. He moaned loudly, her fingers gently tugging at the strands of his hair. Her shirt was pushed open to reveal her naked chest, braless as she arched her back, gasping as he brought his fingers inside her. She tugged at his hair harder, forcing him off her, and he continued to finger her quickly, pushing two fingers into her. He looked away from her face and stared at the way his fingers pushed in and out of her, and he groaned, adding a third and curling them against her walls.
He bit his lip at the way his fingers glistened with her arousal, down his fist and palm and he moved forward again to massage her clit with his tongue until she came. Her walls tightened around his fingers as she panted heavily in the chair, moaning quietly as she caught her breath and he pulled his fingers out, his mouth moving away from her pussy.
“You’re so good, Jake,” she praised, shrugging the shirt off her shoulder and onto the chair. He licked her cum off his fingers and stood up as she got up off the chair. Her fingers hooked onto his shirts and she waited for him to lick his fingers clean before she started to lift his shirt up and off him. “Do you wanna be inside me now?” She teased, stroking up and down his cock over the black boxers he wore.
“Fuck, yes, baby,” he moaned. She chuckled, pulling his boxers down, she got down to her knees and then manhandled him to lean against his desk. “Shit,” he mumbled, watching her put her hair up into a ponytail. His fingers gently traced her jaw and she took his cock in her small hand, licking up where the vein rested on the underside. He moaned, forcing his eyes to stay open as she lapped at the precum that dripped out of the slit, her tongue slowly moving across and then swirling around the head.
“You taste so good,” she murmured, and started tugging at his cock. He grunted, holding onto the desk as she wrapped her lips around him, and then took more of him into her mouth. She sucked gently and he cursed softly, letting out a strangled groan as she moved her tongue underneath his cock all at once. He stared at her with amazement as her cheeks hollowed out, the loud, obscene sound of her sucking, making his hips twitch and she looked up at him disapprovingly. He whined when she quickly pulled off of him with a grin, then stood up in front of him.
“Fuck,” he grunted. She looked up at him, taking his hands she placed them on her hips, her own hands moved up his shoulders as she bit her lip gently.
“Lay down on your back.” He carefully backed into the bed, letting her go just to settle into the pillows, she watched him with a satisfied smile. She joined him on the bed, and straddled his lap, not wasting any time to position him at her entrance and slowly sink down on him. “Perfect,” she teased, grinding down at little as her walls tightened around him.
She flattened her hands out on his chest, smiling down at him smugly, she slowly began to lift herself up and then sank back down repeatedly. His hands slid up her thighs to her hips where he roughly held onto her flesh. He was impressed by the strength of her legs, watching her lift herself up and down rather quickly.
His eyes started at her face and trailed down her body, watching her hair gently bounce with her movements, her lip captured by her teeth, her hooded eyes stuck on him as he panted, his parted lips drying his mouth and throat. She moved her hands back on his thighs, unintentionally looking sexier. Her chest was pushed out, her breasts bounced sensually too, down her stomach he watched himself disappear inside her and then saw himself covered in her arousal.
He thrusted up into her, planting his feet on the bed, she moaned, her hand moving to his stomach to balance herself from the surprise of his movements. He went faster once they both found a rhythm, feeling her pussy clench around him, she chuckled breathlessly when he groaned softly at the feeling.
Her hand made its way to his opened mouth, her fingers dipping inside and finding his saliva. He made a sound of confusion when she did that, only after a few seconds he realised she was bringing her saliva-covered fingers to her clit. She drew quick circles on it as he twitched inside her, swelling up he groaned right at the edge when the door’s hinges creaked.
“Jake, did you see my — You said you two were gonna eat lunch,” the voice of Jake’s roommate interrupted. Y/N whined, looking over her shoulder at the intruder, she stopped riding Jake, and he stopped meeting her thrusts, letting out a frustrated groan,
“I changed my mind,” she grumbled, glaring at him threateningly. She turned away from him and started to ride Jake again as she rubbed her clit. He stayed there, mostly to watch her as she took Jake’s cock in and out of her, like his private porn video. Jake looked at her in surprise as she ignored the man standing at his door. “Go away or I’ll throw my fucking shoe at you, Andy! I’m trying to have sex with my boyfriend!” She moaned, she heard the door slam as soon as she said that and she giggled down at Jake breathlessly. “Are you still gonna cum, Jake?”
“Yes, fuck,” He moaned loudly, thrusting up into her mercilessly. She leaned forward, her hands by his head fisting the pillows, his pelvis slapping against her clit delicious and she moaned, her mind going blank for a few moments as she came.
“Cum for me, Jake,” she whispered, her walls fluttering around him, driving him over the edge faster. He grunted her name quietly and finally spilled inside her, pulling her hips down, she grinded down on him, letting him cum deeper inside her. “Fuck,” she whispered, feeling him thrust slowly in and out of her again until the waves of pleasure subsided.
“I’ve never had sex this great with anyone,” he told her breathlessly. She laughed breathily, staring down at his reddened cheeks and ears, and the messy, spiky hair on his head.
“I’ve never had sex with anyone besides you,” she started, “so I wouldn’t know,” she teased. She got off him and laid down next to him, staring up at the ceiling to recollect herself. “We should probably lock the door when we have sex,” she added, sitting up to look at it and then she got off the bed with shaky legs to wipe herself clean with the soft tissues again.
“I agree,” he whispered, turning over to inspect her as she collected their clothes and put them on his bed.
“I’m gonna get cleaned up, then we’ll eat,” she explained, starting to change into some clothes.
“I’ll join,” he offered and she didn’t stop him as he put only his boxers on and followed her to the bathroom to clean herself up. “I’m sorry about being jealous, it’s kind of immature and a turn off,” he told her. She looked at him, impressed, and took his hands in hers.
“Apology accepted and we still haven’t gone on a date and I’ve already called you my boyfriend,” she chuckled, letting him guide her into the bathroom where they started to clean themselves up.
“Everyone probably thought we were dating already, since you were tutoring me,” he reasoned and she shrugged, not really caring what people thought about her and Jake anyway. “So, we can count our tutoring sessions as dates,” he added, then shrugged too, watching her smile.
“Right, since you were admiring me the whole time,” she teased and he smacked her ass, chuckling at her yelp. “Mm, sexy,” she smiled, massaging her ass to relieve the slight sting. He hummed deeply, replacing her hand with his own, he gently squeezed her flesh. “Awesome, let’s go.”

happy storyteller saturday! how did Dr DuMaurier get into science? what about it does she like? :3
Right back Atcha! I'm still working on the details of the larger story around her called Pinfeathers, but i'll link to the tag anyway.
Context: this is a fantasy/steampunk world with 2 main power sources - magic and electricity. They're volatile when combined, but scientists were getting close to a breakthrough about 15-20 years ago, riiiight when she tried to blow up the queen. As a former royal scientist, Dr Francine DuMaruier's official position required passing knowledge of most sciences, but her main focus was mechanics and engineering to help advance the country.
You could say she was born with a fascination of science. She was born a little after the country's industrial era began, meaning there was no shortage of once-impossible technology right at her fingertips. Naturally, a curious and headstrong kid like DuMarier got her hands on anything she could and took it apart in an effort to see how it worked. The pianoforte, her mother's jewelry box, the safe behind the painting in her father's office… By the time she deconstructed an antique grandfather clock, her parents decided maybe it was time to kick her out i mean send her to school instead of relying on private tutors like other rich idiots did.
She devoured every book she could get her hands on. She liked knowing how things worked most of all, and seeing it for herself. Her love for engineering naturally sprouted a similar interest in physics and chemistry, but she also found herself appreciating biology and anatomy. Bodies were incredibly refined machines. She was one of the first to patent a new type of magic-powered prosthetic limb. No longer relying on basic kinetic motion, she pioneered ways to direct the flow of mana like muscles and tendons, making the movements smoother and more natural than anything before.
The issue is, of course, that she hasn't been able to crack the exact workings of electricity or mana, or how they interact. She can make comparisons to (magnetic poles ; sodium in water ; thunder and air currents) all she likes, but she can't put together why. That's what drove her focus into magitech, and she was close to a breakthrough until... well.
Listen. There's a reason she lives in an abandoned castle in the countryside nowadays.

Exe 3 (Draft 1): Human Form
Food _The Nutrient Cube: People survive on small, tasteless nutrient cubes. Once delicacies, now food is standardized—an engineered slab optimized for survival. People’s bodies grow lean and brittle, hollow from the absence of genuine flavors. In dimly lit alleys, the rich trade for real vegetables and meat, a luxury fewer can afford.
Water _Artificial water: In a world of manufactured water, people’s bodies are gaunt, skin dry and tight from years of artificial, tasteless liquid. The wealthy appear almost normal, while the poor move slowly, conserving every ounce of energy. Public fountains are empty relics, and the metallic taste of chemical water lingers on every tongue—a bitter reminder of a world without natural rivers or rain.
Housing _Automated Homes with Empty Souls: Homes are “smart” and adapt to the owners' every need, tracking moods, movements, and preferences. Yet, people are lonelier than ever, their homes now the only companions they trust. Doors refuse entry if you’ve been deemed “unfit,” an invisible prison enforcing the rules you never agreed to.
Education _Feed VR: Children wear VR goggles from birth, raised by AI tutors who monitor and shape them. Yet, something crucial is missing—faces, voices, touch. When VR falters, kids experience reality with terror, unsure how to respond to things they can’t control with a blink or a swipe.
Healthcare _Cyborg Humanity: The human form is shifting; cyborgs are now common, with mechanical enhancements woven into flesh and bone. Most people have implants to monitor health, perform tasks, and store memories. As the divide between human and machine blurs, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish organic humanity from its cyborg counterparts
Social Equity _Genetic molds: People are designed before they’re born, sculpted into “optimized” human forms. Standard features mean almost everyone looks the same, tall, symmetrical, and efficient. Children grown outside the mold are discarded as “mistakes.” Parents hush children who ask why they look like everyone else.
Gender Equality _Genetic manipulation: People are designed before they’re born, sculpted into “optimized” human forms. Standard features mean almost everyone looks the same, tall, symmetrical, and efficient. Children grown outside the mold are discarded as “mistakes.” Parents hush children who ask why they look like everyone else.
Work & Income _Basic script: Work as a passion no longer exists. The government doles out credits, and people find purpose in odd hobbies that feel like fragments of past dreams. Artists and scientists once fueled by curiosity now work because it’s expected, their sparks fading in the dull hum of basic income.
Energy / Electricity _Light: The city thrives on renewable energy sources, where solar, wind, and geothermal powers every aspect of life. Energy is harvested on the city’s surface and seamlessly stored in high-capacity batteries, distributed even to remote communities. Artificial sunlight brightens public spaces, creating an illuminated environment where all rely on sustainable and self-sufficient energy.
Peace & Justice _Justice is automated: AI judges silently watch over every action, recording, analyzing, punishing. People rarely speak their minds, knowing even a hint of defiance could bring the swift, invisible consequences. Children grow up without secrets, learning early that privacy is a myth.
Transportation _Wheels: Silent, self-driving electric cars have brought peace to urban life. Noise pollution has dwindled as automated vehicles and quiet streets replace the honking chaos of the past. As these vehicles take over, cities grow quieter and calmer, creating a sense of tranquility that was once unimaginable. The sound of human voices fills the silence, and people walk without fear of the traffic that once ruled the roads.
Political Voice _Democracy: AI-driven political algorithms “analyze” every opinion, vote, and policy suggestion. Though touted as unbiased, the AI subtly guides people’s political beliefs, curating the information they see and subtly reinforcing certain agendas. People feel like participants in democracy, unaware that their opinions are quietly shaped by the very systems they trust to keep them informed.
Air Pollution _Damage done : Air filters were meant to cleanse the air, but they only lessen the damage. People still wear masks in the cities, and children breathe in pollution particles designed for “safe” inhalation. Lungs become gray and sallow, with each generation adapting to the toxicity of “safe air.”
Noise Pollution _Quite city: Automated systems and silent electric vehicles have transformed the soundscape of the city. Noise pollution has nearly vanished as soft electric hums replace the clang of machines. People enjoy the newfound peace, and children hear birds and the rustling of trees for the first time. The city feels like a sanctuary where quiet reigns, a welcome change for generations that once grew up surrounded by ceaseless noise.
Non-Human life _Genetic modification: Genetic engineering has advanced to a level where animals are modified to serve humanity. Modified pets act as therapeutic companions, while larger animals help in agriculture and transportation. Engineered to be hardy and efficient, these creatures serve specific roles, their instincts tailored to assist humanity. Yet, many question the ethics of reshaping nature to serve human needs, wondering what this bond means for the future of both species.
Chemical Pollution _Cured: In a world where air pollution has been cured, people breathe deeply, filling their lungs with clean, fresh oxygen. Gone are the masks and labored breaths—now, every inhale feels light and revitalizing. The sky is clear, and ailments once caused by smog and toxins fade into memory. Humanity enjoys a renewed vitality, thriving under an open, unpolluted sky.
Water bodies & Supply _ Last Reservoir: Water reservoirs are scarce and heavily guarded, each drop rationed. People drink recycled moisture from the air, clean but tasteless. Rivers are now a legend; kids imagine water flowing naturally, not understanding what it means.
Waste management _Managed: Waste management has reached a near-zero landfill rate. All waste is processed, sorted, and repurposed using advanced recycling technologies. The city operates in closed-loop systems, with each item carefully managed. Streets are spotless, and people live free of trash and pollution, supported by a robust system that leaves no waste behind.
Land use & Streets & Public Spaces _Walk: To offset a world of automation, government regulations mandate weekly visits to artificial parks where people are encouraged to walk, stretch, and connect with nature. The parks are filled with synthetic trees and plants that mimic real foliage, offering the illusion of green spaces for a largely sedentary population. Here, humans engage in necessary physical activity, their bodies adjusted to a minimal-labor lifestyle.
Ocean pollution _Crystal Ocean: The oceans are pristine, cleaned of pollution by fleets of automated drones that scavenge and purify the waters. Beaches are safe, with fish and coral thriving beneath the waves. Marine life has rebounded, and people once again dive into clear blue waters, reconnecting with the oceans. Yet access is controlled; only those who can afford it experience the full beauty of the restored seas.
Effects of climate change _Rage: Climate change rages on despite control efforts. Wildfires consume forests, storms wrack coastal cities, and smog fills the sky. Each season is harsher than the last, and people live in fear of a world they can no longer predict.
Urban Agriculture & Greenification _Disparity: Urban farming grows crops in dense, vertical stacks, but only the affluent can afford the harvest. The poor survive on nutrient cubes while high-rises of greenery loom above, food hidden behind glass walls that they can never touch.
Gender & Sexuality _New: The LGBTQ+ community is no longer an “aspiration”; it is an accepted reality. Every identity is protected, and people are free to live and love as they choose. Society fully embraces diversity, erasing boundaries between genders and orientations. Though this freedom is celebrated, some warn of complacency, as visibility and equality sometimes mask new forms of subtle bias.
Diversity & Inclusion _Faith and fury: Religion has fractured into a fierce competition for dominance, each faith claiming superiority. Wars rage as factions clash in an endless struggle to prove spiritual supremacy. Monuments are built, destroyed, and rebuilt as each group vies for recognition in a world where no single belief can claim peace. Religious fervor becomes a war cry, turning the quest for greatness into a dystopian nightmare.
Acessibility _Privilege: Technology promises universal access, but it’s limited to those who can afford it. The poor adapt, their bodies adjusting to a world without aid. Accessibility is hollow, a convenience for the wealthy while the rest struggle silently.
Sustainability _Green washed: The city advertises itself as sustainable, but each initiative is a veneer. Beneath the green slogans and recycled plastic buildings, resources are drained, and the environment crumbles. Sustainability has become an image, a brand, a lie the city tells itself as it fades

Eudaimonia have known about bacteria and viruses for a long time and shared that knowledge with humans and apodiavolo. They made microscopes long *after* this discovery, rather than the microscope causing it.
either their own light/fire (produced via magic or bioluminescence), or fire from candles/torches/etc. electrical light is very common, but only among certain species that cannot produce their own (humans, chattels, elves, vamps, werewolves). it's also more for industrial use, like a place of employment or the main living quarters of a house. whereas in emergency situations where one would need a flashlight or in their own home, it's quicker to just use their own magic.
Trains, trolleys, and buses dominate transportation. Most roads are used more for walking or bikes instead of for cars. Cars are used for very specific trips, typically ones that would otherwise be biked but are too long to do so. cars are also used by families and couples for short trips that cant be walked. air and water travel is relatively common, with air travel being the less frequent of the two. it also depends on the species, for example, harpies use their own flight more than they would use biking. a mer uses their own ability to swim rather than flying over the ocean. and obviously the higher class dont ride public transportation and primarily ride in cars, private jets, and private boats/yatchs.
During the war times the lower class, the diavolo, were completely restricted from proper education and even sharing culture. chattels emerged and were given less opportunities, but still allowed to get an education. after the war, it primarily depends on distance to nearest school or tutor, parents education, and the prestige of school/tutor. A child deep in the mountains cannot easily go to a school to learn basic education and magic, therefore they rely on their parents/caretakers to homeschool them. if their caretaker didnt recieve a proper education either, then they are not recieving quality education on a baseline level. if a child does get to go to a school then it depends on how capable the staff are and what level of expertise they have in their fields. there are also some schools that prioritize basic education over magic, and vice versa, as well as military schools, athletic schools, and apprenticeships. all of these variants of education focus on a single subject, resulting in the individual being weaker in other fields. everyone is *expected* to have basic education and a grasp on their magic.
how far people travel from their birthplace depends greatly on individual, culture, species. Certain mer variants will always die where they are born, and others are always migrating and typically die away from breeding grounds. for harpies, they usually live close but not in the exact area. southern elves travel more while northern elves stay close. mages typically stay close and diavolo are wild cards.
execution is a common punishment for serious offenses such as murder and sexual assault--this is mostly because of how long every eudaimonia species lives. it would be unreasonable to provide room and board to a criminal for up to 10,000 years. the term 'life sentence' does not officially exist in the legal system, instead every crime and level of offense has a max and minimum sentence based on each species lifespan. because of how complicated the legal system is for this reason, vigilantism and social punishment is common. Even if the court finds them innocent, the community will ruin their lives. often, prison is a way to keep the criminal from being killed.
class systems are mostly defined by wealth, with very few defined by lineage, so it is very easy to change class year to year.
there are (things they get addicted to) but this would require its own post.
local, state, national, and continental libraries exist, as well as search engines online.
the spring, summer, autumn, and winter solstices all have their own month long holidays. the week before heat/rut, the week during, and the week after. Most eudaimonia species celebrate, even if they dont experience a trye heat or rut. The only group with a considerable amount who dont participate are humams. i will also make a post about this specifically :). they also have celebration of life for birth and death.
it depends on the culture and group. diavolo typically cremate or bury. elves also bury or release into the water. mer excluseively release into designated underwater burial grounds EXCEPT FOR lake and river mers, who have to bury. gigantic and colossal mer are too solitary to impact. harpies have designated tomb caverns. vampires cremate. mages do any combination.
cultures are very mixed, to the point there are very few cultures with definable borders among location and species. even amongst [species] states, there are still others roaming the area. for example, the himalayans are almost entirely harpy territory, but you can still fidnthe occassional mage or diavolo on the mountain range. Pacific islands are mer territory, yet theres still tourists making their way to australia.
being multilingual is the baseline. It is shocking to find someone who only speaks one language.
Because languages have a wider scope than irl, especially greek, there is a great level of variation in dialects. Gresk from a japan native is very different than greek from a southern african. both of which are extremrly different to southern eastern european greek.
some misc worldbuilding questions to get your gears turning:
Do they have germ theory or some equivalent? How do they conceptualize the spread of disease and infection?
Is the everyday economy based more on trade/barter or currency? Is the currency valuable in its own right, or is it just something agreed upon to have value (eg. salt or gold vs. paper money)
What is their main method of lighting? What resources does this use?
Primary mode of transportation? How much does this vary based on things like purpose of travel, social class, etc.?
How much of a knowledge/education gap is there between social classes? Is there a baseline of education that everyone gets/is expected to have?
What are the most popular modes of storytelling? Is everyone telling campfire stories? Are they going to plays? puppet shows? are they going to the cinema? are they reading novels or epic poetry? Are there any folk characters or pop culture things that most people are familiar with?
Where does most people's moral framework primarily come from? Religion? Philosophy? Are there different schools of thought? How much do they vary?
Is there anything considered scandalous/improper/taboo that's normal in your own culture? and vice versa
Do most people live and die where they are born, or is it common to relocate and travel widely? how much does this vary by class/profession/region?
What do they do with criminals? Do they have an extensive prison system? If so, who funds/runs it? If not, how is crime discouraged/managed? Are there specific punishments for specific crimes?
How rigid are their class boundaries? How possible/common is it for someone to change social classes?
Is there anything that people get dangerously addicted to in your world? How accessible is it?
How easy is it for someone to do research/look up information they don't know? What is the primary method of doing this?
What holidays do they have? Any weird traditions? Fun traditions? Are they universally celebrated, or only by specific groups of people?
How do they dispose of their dead? How do they honor their dead?
How much exchange is there between cultures? Do people of different groups intermingle, or do they mostly stick with their own people?
How common is it to speak more than one language, and who is most likely to be multilingual?
How much do regional dialects/accents vary within the same language? Are there any dialects/accents that are stigmatized? Do different accents have different associated stereotypes?
This isn't meant to be taken as a checklist that you have to completely fill out btw. Just things that might help add flavor to your world and characters. (Also mostly things I end up thinking about logistically anyway as they become relevant to the plot or a character's frame of reference.) Enjoy!

Hey there! Who doesn’t want a fat-paying job like that? It is not sufficient to simply understand Java and C++. You must be extremely knowledgeable about data structures and algorithms. You ought to be knowledgeable about design patterns. There should at least be a basic understanding of CS fundamentals like OS, DBMS, and Comp Networks.
But if you are still a student in high school, you can start taking baby steps in advance. Start learning computer science and mastering its basics from an early age. There are many expert tutors in Kolkata and you can take private lessons from one.
Future Skills You Will Need:
If you're serious about becoming a computer scientist or software engineer, you will need:
Solid mathematical background, especially in discrete math.
Fundamental knowledge of the sciences and engineering

MICHAEL ☆ AFTON sfw HEADCANNONS !!
as my first post on here, I decided i'm gonna do some headcannons for michael !! this is also how i'm gonna write about michael for now. the rights i'd give up for him <3
high school, college, post scoop michael
Tumblr media
high school
☆ honestly I feel like he'd either be a quiet, really composed teen, dropping the bully bad boy persona by the end of middle school
☆ or. . . he'd still be a bully, and probably one of those loners or he hangs out with the token delinquent group (and that's what I'm going to base these hcs on)
☆ biker michael holds my heart. he 100% owns a ducati
☆ he probably had no real dating experience before you, maybe only a few hookups and that one time he dated someone in kindergarten
☆ comes over to your house at the dead of night to talk to you whenever he doesn't want to deal with william
☆ he has a light british accent
☆ cusses in nearly every sentence
☆ emo and no one can tell me different
☆ just kidding, but I feel like he'd dress like billy from st lmfao
☆ HE HAS A MULLET AND THIS IS CANNON the way i'm barking rn
☆ listens to alternative rock and metal and maybe even indie rock
☆ knows how to play drums and electric guitar
☆ he probably took you to an arcade as the first date
☆ absolutely demolished your ass in every game until he decided to go easy on you
☆ knows how to skate
☆ because he skates so much and hangs out with the "bad boy group" , he probably has a lot of bandages
☆ you help him with his injuries sometimes, scolding him while he just grins at you
☆ sometimes you help him style his hair after he stays for the night
☆ totally has your parents whipped, they love him
☆ personally, I think he'd be really smart (especially since he knows so much about animatronics) but he might need some tutoring if it comes to math
☆ would leave his "friends" for you
☆ i know it's cringy but he is totally soft for you
☆ brings you roses when he meets up with you for a date
☆ already planning his life with you, moving out of utah and having a family with dogs and everything
☆ basically think of rodrick heffley for his personality
☆ probably smoked until you asked him to stop
☆ leans against his motorcycle when he picks you up for dates (barking rn)
college/post college (where fnaf basically doesn't happen)
☆ honestly, I think michael would help his dad out with the pizzeria while also doing college
☆ he'd probably think about dropping out but he's getting his degree in engineering so the two of you could have a stable life
☆ the two of you are living together in a little apartment
☆ probably in a small garage band that he's been in since around senior year of high school
☆ still has that mullet (BECAUSE I SAID SO AGAIN)
☆ the two of you went to a frat party once, and michael got really jealous and now the two of you never go to parties
☆ he'd help you study for exams while he slacks on studying his
☆ he'd bring you little snacks for you to take breaks
☆ the two of you are saving up money to buy a house
post scooping
☆ would be super hesitant on coming back
☆ it'd be a few weeks before he even gathers up the courage to come back into the neighborhood
☆ he would knock on the door, and he was expecting you to scream and close the door
☆ you only stood there in shock and said, "michael?"
☆ the two of you are still happily together
☆ he'd slowly open up to you about what happened and how his sister betrayed him, etc
☆ you buy him new hoodies all the time and giggle while finding wigs for him
☆ the two of you go on dates in the woods and have picnics
☆ when you do go out into public, it's at the dead of night
☆ he takes you for rides on his motorcycle still, but he's a bit rusty
☆ the two of you get that dog you've wanted for so long

what is their villain origin story™️
artem's is not being able to flip his omelet. you can't look at me in the face and tell me that his soul doesn't leave his body when he isn't able to flip an omelet. like that's basics (for him) so when he isn't able to do it he takes it as a mildy bad omen for his day. the omelet of truth
luke takes 1hp of damage every single time he short circuits a piece of machinery. like obviously he doesn't get hurt but that's a circuit he's been working on for the past eIGHT HOURS PLEASE JUST DONT FUCKEN BURN DOWN HE BEGS, he just wants this to work,,, and he has to look at the schematics again and make sure he did the math right again and if he gets too frustrated he just works on something else. ok but like as someone who's done electrical engineering on motherboards and shit let me tell you that soldering sucks,,, i feel for this man,,,
vyn has two. one of them is whenever he accidentally clips a flower in his garden. it usually happens when he's a little too lost in thought and he's just like,,, well that's inconvenient,,, but his main one is Marius. lISTEN,,, i'd like to think that the 8am class marius has is a psych class bc he had to go out of his way to get a tutor. so the second vyn wakes up marius just calls him asking about concepts and vyn wants to like,,, cancel his contract and become one with the blade.
marius dies inside just waking up,,, he hates his 8am classes with a passion. like he gets it obviously classes filled up quickly but he's tHIS GOD DAMN CLOSE to bribing the admin office so he gets all classes in the afternoon bc this man just wants to sleep please and thank you. this is why he calls vyn in the morning bc if he's not getting sleep then fuck everyone else.

Hi Owl, hopre you're having a nice day so far!
I was wondering, do you have maybe some headcanons about Luke and Din going to college together? ^^
Luke: Art Major with a minor in Engineering and Philosophy. Does designs really well and understands machines like they are his friends but it's not his main focus. He is a very bright guy but wants to do things artistically and wants to learn more of thinking, so Art (maybe he does drawing or he does ceramics) and loves to write papers over art aesthetics and history. He did Engineering just as a precaution if the art doesn't work well in his favor--but he is talented that he would be able to pick up museum work really easily. He works at the campus library which is opened 24/7 and works as many shifts as possible, doing homework in between, to get as much money as he can.
Din: Electrical Engineering major. Works part time at a garage near the campus and works at a bar over weekends. He is always stressed because he is barely sleeping and working so hard. He is super bright in his subjects but always struggles with anything not associated with Engineering.
They meet in a shared engineering class and alter when Din has to have some sort of elective and he takes art. He helps tutor Luke a bit (though realizes Luke doesn't need much help, he just gets overwhelmed and needs help focusing on an assignment) and Luke guides Din with art assignments some can pass his electives. Both are a little shy and awkward at first but they become fast friends.
Luke lets Din use his "private quarters" at the library to study (and nap)--it's just this unknown corner of the library where it is the most quiet. And Din will sneak Luke some food from the bar he works at. They share study picnics together in the library often when they are on breaks.
Both can work nights and get off at similar times so Din will come and walk Luke home because he doesn't want Luke walking alone, it makes him far too uncomfortable to think of Luke by himself.
After their first semester they go, "hey, soo...we're good friends, yeah? just friends, hahah, of course right, but we're both needing to save money and...how about we become roommates? platonic roommates? yeah, lol so platonic." and they do share a cheap apartment to save money and it works really well...though they accidentally walk in on each other gettin dressed or coming out of the shower or Luke maybe makes breakfast and lunch for Din and Din wraps Luke up in blankets when he is starting to drift off on the couch because he is so worn out.
And they are just basically in love and married before they graduate and decide they won't just move away from each other...they just move into a better apartment once they get jobs and... "oh shit we're boyfriends aren't we?" with their friends screeching, "FINALLY!"

Navigating the Stars: A Comprehensive Guide to Cracking the ISRO Exam
One of the best examples of India's scientific ability is the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), which provides career prospects that promise a good mix of status and difficulty. Cracking the ISRO test is a goal for many ambitious scientists and engineers, one that calls for careful study and calculated planning. This article will go over five key topics to aid you on your way to becoming ready for the ISRO test.
1. Recognize the syllabus and exam pattern Gaining a comprehensive grasp of the ISRO exam's syllabus and format is the first step towards succeeding in it. Graduates of engineering programs, including mechanical, electrical, and computer science engineering, are the main audience for the ISRO test. There are two parts to the exam: a written exam and an interview.
Written Exam: The written exam consists of 80 questions that must be answered in 90 minutes and is usually objective in nature. Based on your engineering specialty, the questions are primarily technical with a little amount of general ability. Interview: Shortlisted candidates for an interview after passing the written exam are evaluated on their technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and comprehension of fundamental ideas.
2. Reinforce Your Foundations The ISRO test is renowned for placing a strong focus on foundational engineering ideas. ISRO's method guarantees that applicants have a solid understanding of the fundamentals, in contrast to other competitive tests that could place a heavy emphasis on advanced themes. It is therefore essential that you review your undergraduate textbooks and class notes. The foundation of the technical syllabus consists of topics like digital electronics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and algorithms. Making brief notes for every topic might facilitate speedy modifications in the final few weeks leading up to the test.
3. Get Experience with Past Years' Papers One of the most important preparation strategies for the ISRO test is to practice previous year's papers. It familiarizes you with the format of the test and aids in comprehending the kind and degree of difficulty of the questions. Consistent practice might also help you recognize key concepts that are tested often. Another important skill that may be developed by completing these tasks in the allotted time is time management. It aids in developing the quickness and precision needed to successfully answer the objective questions.
4. Develop Your Ability to Solve Problems The ISRO exam assesses both your academic knowledge and your application of that knowledge to real-world problem-solving. It is important to regularly practice numerical problems, particularly those included in standard textbooks and past test questions. Concentrate on resolving issues with fundamental concepts like as data structures, microprocessors, and control systems. Furthermore, mock exams and problem sets are frequently offered by online resources and tutoring centers. These can replicate the real exam setting and serve as a benchmark for your study.
5. Maintain Current Affairs Knowledge and Create a Complete Profile Although the majority of the ISRO exam consists of technical knowledge, having a well-rounded profile will help you in the interview phase. It's important to keep up with current events, particularly as they relate to recent ISRO missions and space technological breakthroughs. This shows your sincere interest in the field and helps you in the interview. You may enhance your profile by reading scholarly publications, going to webinars, and taking part in relevant courses.
Last Words Your success on the ISRO exam demonstrates your commitment, diligence, and love of space science and technology. You may successfully traverse your preparatory trip by comprehending the test pattern, reinforcing your basics, practicing assiduously, improving your problem-solving abilities, and keeping up with current events. Recall that passing the ISRO test may lead to a fulfilling profession that advances science and boosts national pride in the country. Thus, set lofty objectives for yourself, maintain your motivation, and confidently go off on this amazing voyage!

What was teaching into to ee to mech students like?
I was just tutoring, so I can only really talk about their lab work and exercises, but:
Mech engineers are very smart, very methodical, and very much like getting to design things to specification. My brother is a mech eng and he will spend hours tweaking the design on a part to meet specifications in just the right combination of ways.
Electrical Engineering, at least at the product design level, is almost entirely about working within the decisions someone else has made. You can't just make your own chips, you can't afford to step outside E12 for most of your resistors, you have to deal with existing communication standards, so you just have to deal with the fact that all these constraints must be observed.
Mech Eng students handle the mathematics just fine, at undergraduate level all engineers basically study the same underlying mathematics, but they really have trouble with components. I spent ages trying to help a student deal with an audio amplifier, until I finally went through their circuit piece by piece and found they had put a thermistor, which comes in the same TO package format, where a transistor should be. I only realized this because when I touched the device, it was so hot I got a minor burn.
They take pretty easily to the basics, explaining capacitors, resistors and inductors works best if you appeal to the mathematics frequently, since everyone gets derivatives. Dealing with wiring and voltages in design throws them off, because it's often kind of counterintuitive if you don't have a good idea of what Voltage actually means in more complex circuits, which makes it harder for them to debug designs. Unfortunately every physical analogy for how electricity works is bad and wrong, you really do just have to think of potential as a potential.
I'm sure the Mech engineers who tutored my Intro to Mechanics class have their own lists about how EE's don't appreciate the power of repeated applied equations and can't visualize tension and compression in structures with more than half a dozen members.
