Palio di Siena 2023

Sono Tartuca, Chiocciola e Giraffa le tre contrade che a Siena saranno in prima fila per il Palio dell'Assunta del 16 agosto, che vanno ad aggiungersi alle sette, Aquila, Bruco, Drago, Istrice, Oca, Pantera e Torre, che correranno di diritto non avendo partecipato al Palio del 2 luglio. Come sempre le bandiere delle contrade estratte sono state collocate alle trifore del primo piano di Palazzo Pubblico a fianco di quelle che partecipano di diritto alla carriera, mentre le bandiere delle sette contrade non estratte o che devono scontare una squalifica si trovano alle finestre del secondo piano. Nel palio dell’Assunta saranno tre le coppie di rivali cioè Torre vs Oca; Pantera vs Aquila e Tartuca vs Chiocciola. Delle altre quattro solo l’Istrice non avrà la nemica in piazza, la Lupa, mentre Drago, Bruco e Giraffa non hanno inimicizie particolari, anche se tra queste ultime due la pace  è stata firmata nel 1995, prima della vittoria di Barbicone l’anno dopo e dell’ultimo cappotto del secolo scorso, cioè quello della Giraffa del 1997. Anche stavolta la nonna del Palio d’agosto  resta l’Aquila che non vince da 31 anni, seguita dalla Chioccola, anch’essa ferma dopo il 1999 e il Nicchio,  che ha vinto l’ultima volta nel 1998 non sarà della partita. Il Palio è una grande manifestazione organizzata dal Comune di Siena, dove dieci Contrade su 17 corrono il Palio del 2 luglio, che sono le sette che non hanno corso il Palio del luglio dell’anno precedente a cui se ne aggiungono tre sorteggiate tra le dieci che lo corsero. L’estrazione avviene l’ultima domenica di maggio e, analogamente per il Palio del 16 agosto, l’ estrazione delle tre si tiene nella prima domenica dopo il Palio di luglio. Le 10 Contrade partecipano alla corsa del Palio con un cavallo che gli vene assegnato per estrazione a sorte da una rosa di cavalli selezionati tra quelli fisicamente idonei, mentre le prove di idoneità e l’assegnazione dei cavalli avvengono 3 giorni prima del Palio, la mattina del 29 giugno e del 13 agosto rispettivamente per i due palii, e  prima del Palio si svolgono 6 corse di prova, una la mattina ed una il pomeriggio,  durante le quali il fantino, scelto dalla Contrada, prende dimestichezza con il cavallo. Si può assistere alle corse di prova ed al Palio accedendo a pagamento alle tribune che sono stati sistemati attorno alla Piazza o alle finestre e balconi che vi si affacciano, oppure gratuitamente dall’interno della Piazza. La corsa del Palio è preceduta da un corteo, noto come Passeggiata Storica,  a cui prendono parte oltre 600 figuranti in rappresentanza delle 17 Contrade e di istituzioni della antica Repubblica di Siena, che parte dalla Piazza del Duomo nelle prime ore del pomeriggio, e si snoda per alcune vie del centro cittadino prima di arrivare nella Piazza del Campo. Il Palio vero e proprio consiste nel percorrere per tre volte il giro della Piazza del Campo, opportunamente sistemata e attrezzata allo scopo, montando a pelo, cioè senza sella, il cavallo e il vincitore si aggiudicherà il Drappellone, simbolo dell’evento. Double exposure Analysis

Here are some images of double exposure from ‘The mashup’ and ‘Barbicon’

This image really stood out to me for the glitch effect with the double exposure. This is a really good mix as double exposure has a hint of a glitch effect to it and with the added glitch lines, adds to the glitch effect, improving the image. I like how the text is transparent with a stroke, so the focus is more on the actual double exposure image rather than the text its self. I like all the tones used in this image, especially the mix of the pinks, purples and greens, yellows, all the mix of colours with the many different layers is very experimental and making the image stand out more, more eye-catching. I like the retro feel to this image, it reminds me of a more 90′s theme with all the different colours and patterns involved in the glitch lines.

Much like the other one, this stood out to me for the glitch effect added to this image. I like all the added layers and colours. The mix between the yellow, pink and green is quite interesting. I like how bold and vibrant the colours in this image are. I like the mix between the original image of the model and the double exposure close up of the model, This adds a nice effect to the whole image and fills the image in more, leaving less empty space. I like how these mashup images keep the original image more solid and use the original colours. All the different glitch details makes the image more eye-catching and make the image stand out more.

I like the tones and the different gradients used in this image, this aspect really stood out to me. I like how simplistic this is while having added detail with colour instead of patterns or more images. The negative space adds to the focus of the main focus of this image, being the double exposure, and how the colour adds detail and texture to the negative space instead of using other things to add detail. I like the mix of the simple white text and all the different colours and gradients are in this image. I like how the barbicon double exposure image focuses on solid colours for the double exposure effect rather than different colours all over the double exposure effect, making it more simplistic. I like how the images around the original images looks like the models different emotions, maybe foreshadowing the enjoyment of the music festival they are promoting.

Much like the other one, I like how simplistic this image is and how this theme fits in well with a music festival advertisement. This design seems to be very popular in music festival advertisements etc. The extra images that make the double exposure image are a possible foreshadow at the enjoyment of this music festival. I like how clean and modern this image is with the negative space and how the colour is used to create definition and detail in these barbicon images. I like how they have used primary colours to make this image more eye-catching and stand out more. I also like how they have edited the tones of the colours, making the colours work well together and not clash as I imagine it would if it was more of a neon mix of colours such as red, blue and yellow. I like how the fine print and the logo work well with this image, the juxtaposition between the simple text and logo with the textured gradient coloured background and the texture and colours of the double exposure effect.
