What do you do when your school gives you a semestral break after exams?
I, Cezane Krishna G. Pasion, a freshman in the Regional Science High school for Region 02 and this is what i did after our 2nd Quarterly examination break. Why do students need a semestral break after exams? It provides students with a pause from academic commands.
As a RegSciHigher and a dormer, I experienced a lot during my freshman year in the Regional Science High school. Highschool is not easy! You have to go through a lot before even going to Senior High and College; high school prepare us before we go to a much harder lessons. During school days, I was not able to see my family face-to-face for five days and without my parents' support I will not be able to come this far. Without further ado, this is what I did during our semestral break.
On the first day, the day after the 2nd Quarterly Examination my parents told me and my siblings to come with them to withns and celebrate the Bambanti festival. We headed to our booth to take a photo and look at our booth which is the Municipality of Burgos, the design of each booths we saw were mesmerizing and unique in their own way. Next, we watched the Miss Isabela 2024; the candidates were all beautiful and stunning during the pageant.
On the 2nd day, my brother and I were just left at home because my little brother was at school and my parents were at work. While i was in the house, i decided to find new hobbies for me to try. I also learned about our next lessons in our subjects. I also tried to stay up late but I couldn't because I was too sleepy at that moment but even if i try to stay up late, my parents would get mad since I would just ended up waking up late.
On the 3rd day, we returned to Bambanti festival to watch street dance, concerts and the awarding. I stared at them saying "How can they do it that good?" came up my mind especially the concert since the mixes of their voices were just beautiful to hear. Even Julie Ann San Jose came up to the stage of the sports complex she sang so pleasing and ravishingly. When it was time to announce the awardees, we got second place for the best scare crow.
On the last day of Bambanti festival, my cousin said she wanted to go with us because there would be another concert since she didn't go to the previous days and today was the last day of the Bambanti festival. We screamed because we saw THE JUANS and they were so good at singing and playing the piano, drums and electric guitar so well. After the concert, we ate popcorn and street foods and roamed around Bambanti festival.
I also had a sleepover with my elementary friends at my house for a little reunion after a long time of not seeing each other since we go to different school for the reason that they didn't pass the 1st screening test in Regional Science. I all missed spending time with them; our hangouts during elementary days were never never a forgetful memory, "them", being a part of my elementary journey is unforgettable. We made most of the time chatting, playing, sharing gossips and telling what we do in school for better and fun entertainment; we also did a movie marathon to really enjoy the little time with them.
Church is a place where we worship the God, and each Catholic people go to church on Sundays. I also go to church every Sunday to pray and listen to the lectures of the Father. I also eat the Ostya given by the church, kneel down and pray.
With the help of technology and multimedia, we can use them in order to appease boredom and give entertainment. It is also a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight.
All happiness is a combination of enjoyment, satisfaction and meaning. That's what our lives need enjoyment and freedom. We need to enjoy our lives every time since we only live once.
There is always someone who always listens and tells heart-warming comforts. We can always learn from our downs in order to go up. Don't let someone ruin the dreams, plans and mostly your confidence on how to stand up by yourself and go up yourself. There is nothing impossible if we try, just keep on trying and trying until we reach.
Confidence is the key to succeed in life, without the full confidence we can't do anything. Feeling sure of yourself and your abilities. Being insecure about what we do isn't going to make a change in our life. Insecure is just thinking about what people think about us and that makes us lose the confidence we need to succeed.
Semestral break is good for students especially after a tough week. Everyone even teachers need a long break in order to have a peace of mind and we all have personal intentions. Going out or staying at home, having a short break from school was truly a lightweight feeling in the body.
A never ending saga of learning will soon be paid off if we do our best in our studies. Every up and down will all be worth it in the end. Trust on yourself and we can do all the things working together.
In conclusion, a good break starts with peace, learning new hobbies, and having a great time. We need to spend our rest days full of enjoyment and memories together with our loved ones. Like spending time with our families, we can share our problems and they can be our listeners and our friends who were always listening and there for me always.

My type of Happiness
February 07, 2024 by - Faith Azriel Urbi
Have you ever experienced a Semestral break? As a former private school student that’s now studying at a public school, it’s my first time experiencing a Semestral break; and trust me, it’s as fun as it sounds. My Sembreak was definitely worth it and enjoyable even if we were only given a whole week. Especially that I got to spend most of it with my family and friends, which made it more special and fun.
During the Semestral break, it is expected that students already put their studies aside and began enjoying their free time with no school works waiting for them the next following days. As a student the Sembreak is really helpful, especially for us who’s experiencing academic pressure. I, myself, has also been hooked to school works and the Sembreak serves as a little breather as a student. It’s a win-win situation if you ask me, considering the Sembreak itself is like a small reward for our hard work in academics.
The Sembreak allowed me to spend more time with my family and close friends. I got to go to numerous events and I made sure to make the most of it. As a student, it really isn’t deniable that most of my time was spent on reading and writing; which leads me to not having enough time to bond with my family. I take this Semestral Break as a breather in my academics, and an excuse for me and my family to bond as a whole. Bonding with my family was the best feeling ever, especially that they never fail to make me feel safe and happy whenever I’m with them. My own definition of safe space is when I’m with them, and honestly they’re the main reason why my Sembreak was fun and worth it.
To pass some time together, my family went to explore are galleries; gazing at the attractive art as we walked around the gallery in full admiration. We even cooked together before binge watching movies in our living room, it was our way of bonding and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Then we tried to paint each other, which didn’t went well but at least we were having fun and that’s all that matters when bonding with my family. We then visited our balcony to star gaze, chatting about our situations while drinking hot Choco. It all felt warm and perfect, as if this was what I needed after flooding myself with academics.
After that, my cousins invited me to play Roblox and MLBB with them. I reluctantly agreed since I had nothing to do around the house anyway. Also, even though we were playing through our gadgets, at least we had fun in doing so. It was super entertaining and unforgettable as we even joked around and start teasing each other with sayings that were as clear as mud. We enjoyed playing so much that we didn’t even notice the time and it was time to go. Aside from all of that, I had an amazing time playing and chatting with them since we rarely get to play or hang out together now.
Let’s be honest, everyone needs a break; wherein some already crave to indulge themselves with their hobbies or activities they haven’t done in a while. As the Sembreak continuous, the more chances we get to make in bonding with our family and friends. Even with my best of friends, we just enjoy the day care-free as we have nothing to worry about the very next day. As laughter would fill the room while we chatted about topics we wouldn’t even care about the very next day. We would spend the time hanging out like there was no tomorrow; smiling at each other till our cheeks hurt from smiling and till our face turns red from giggling.
As the Sembreak is close to an end, my Mom and Dad planned to take me to the Bambanti Festival, and it was the most mesmerizing events I’ve visited yet. While waiting for the pageantry to start, we went to the village where we took a look of the indigenous houses of each municipality. As I heard their cheers by each contestant during the pageantry, I already knew it was going to be intense and lively. We went to the stadium and claimed an empty spot before it got too crowded to get a better view of the fellow contestants. Each round was filled with mixed emotions, by every second everyone becomes catchier and better than the first round; which made us watchers e was definitely a night to remember as at the end of the pageantry there were fireworks. It was very beautiful and hypnotic to see; especially when their theme music matched very well with their grand fireworks.
There’s no denying that a lot of us students enjoy and love every minute of our Sembreak for the reason that many missed doing their daily hobbies, like painting, dancing, swimming and many more. The Semestral break allows us to connect back to our hobbies and allow ourselves to enjoy the activities that make us feel at ease or calm. Throughout my Sembreak experience, I got to be in my own peaceful bubble as I got to unite with my hobbies that made me feel calm and serene. I felt safe and tranquil while connecting back to my hobbies that I’ve left temporarily due to my academics. It’s important that we let ourselves rest not only physically, but also mentally.
To sum up everything I’ve concluded, the semestral break is the most anticipated vacation of students like me. This also states that the Sembreak helps students spend more time with their loved ones instead of being drowned with school works. The Sembreak is fun in its own different ways, especially when it comes to bonding with your family or friends. Nothing feels warmer than the love my family gives which made my Sembreak extra special and fun.

Unwinding Adventures: My Semestral Break
February 07 2024, by: Charlotte Jean Almazan
This is my sembreak journey. The semestral break provides a priceless chance for students to rejuvenate their fatigued bodies and brains. Students frequently experience exhaustion due to the unrelenting demands of their studies, exams, and extracurricular activities. But, students can take advantage of this time off from school to relax and get much-needed rest. The semestral break enables people to refill their exhausted energy levels, ensuring they return to their studies refreshed and revitalized. This might involve anything from relaxing with a good book to traveling to exotic locales.
During my sembreak, I discovered a lot of things, and spent my quality time with my friends and family. I personally enjoyed every small time I spent with someone I adore. Sharing the stories I had experienced, making friendship bracelets together, learning skills I wanted to learn like: playing a guitar, drawing and writing. I enjoyed a lot during my sembreak by committing the things I love to do, especially wandering! Travelling is like therapy for me because I can discover a lot of things by exploring. I went to the Bambanti festival Ilagan not just once but twice. Every light I see there is very colorful, the fragrance of the foods, the circumstances happening there, and watching the fireworks exploding noisily up in the high sky. The happiness I've felt was over the roof. I personally watched some pageants where different municipalities came from, watched different band concerts like Sunkissed Lola etc. I also tried new foods, and took pictures while exploring the area.
In addition, I personally tried to challenge myself by cooking various dishes, this experience didn't just make me feel happy and enthusiastic but also improved my cooking skills.Another skill I learned when my sister taught me how to crochet and sew. We made crochet plushies together. I will not forget all the moments I've spent my time with my family or someone I adore. It's really the happiest moment. I have ever experienced visited my friends to have a bonding or reunion. We went for a movie marathon, went to Amusement park, rode some rides like, ferris wheel, vikings, etc. After the fun we had in the Amusement park, we went to the famous cafe called "Apayao Brew". We talked about how we have been doing at school and even interesting stories. After all the traveling around Ilagan, we rested for a few hours at home and after which, we decided to go to Camp Samal Viewdeck near my school. We stayed there for a few hours and also took pictures. I really cherish all the things happening in my life. I could never forget. It's the most important thing in myself. Another thing I did during the break, was attending a mass to connect and communicate with God. I prayed all the things I did bad. After the mass we went for a Jollibee. I really love it when little moments are already precious to me, it makes me; feel joy and fulfilled. In addition, I've also read a lot of romance books, and sweet romance books. I really love reading books because it can make my vocabulary knowledge bigger and have big imaginations, sweet romance books like: Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez and more. I and my cousins and friends also went biking, it was really tiring but it's a good exercise for me. There's also the time when me and my grandparents went to the farm along with my best friend, we went on star gazing, it's honestly so beautiful and It's like a galaxy or milky way, stars shining so so bright I could break my neck just to stare at it. My friends and I also made "Do It Yourself" (DIY) paper flowers, paper stars, paper rings, and even decorations. I love the way it turned out because it's so so cute. My best friend visited me and helped me reorganize my room and it was unexpected to have that much trash. After we reorganized my room, I asked him to play board games and video games with me like chess, monopoly and genshin impact. It was honestly so fun.

Hang Out
On a peaceful Saturday. My twin and I were casually watching TV until we got a text from our friend saying she wants us to go to the bambanti festival with her family. Us being sick of being stuck inside our house, we agreed immediately. So we told her we're coming with Andrea—another friend of ours.
We got to her house and left to go to the festival. While we were there we tried almost every single food from each stand and met some of our old classmates on the way. When we finally got home it was about 7:00 or 8:00 so her father insisted we should stay to eat dinner and we agreed. We took wayyy to long to eat so it was probably around 10:00 and our father's friend suggested for us to sleep at their place. As our sleepover progresses we stood up too late and slept at 3AM.
In the morning we woke up at 10 and ate breakfast, we wanted to stay more so we decided to stay more. Our day was spent with laughter and joy but we knew we had to go home so we said goodbye and left. THE END

I am writing this to express what I did on sembreak. But what is sembreak? I, Precious Roan M. Lopez unwinding the things I’ve done in the semreak. What a better time to unwind and recharge during sembreak.
High schools offer wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs. These activities help students provide opportunities for students to explore their passions, develop leaderships skills, and build social connections. High schools is a time for self discovery and time for personal growth.
Students have the opportunity to discover or develop some skills through numerous academic pursuits, talents, and interests in addition students may have the opportunity to choose they want to become based on their interest and career goal. High schools is a mile stone to accomplish because some people did not even go to high school and an event where students receive their diplomas and celebrate accomplishments. High school is often the most unforgettable time of your life because it is often marked the transition from high school to the next phase of your life.
During my first year in high school in Regional Science High school and a dormer, I first struggled adjusting on school because I only see my family twice a week. I’ve been through a lot this school year but I know it will be all paid off.
Sembreak is a term usually used in the Philippines, and it’s a short form of “Semestral Break”. “Sem” stands for semestral and “Break” indicates a pause or interruption in academic activities. It is where a period of rest or vacation between academic semester in school.
During the night after the exam, I did my schedule for the semestral break. On the first night I scheduled to relax and rest, watched some movies, I watched the “The 8th Night”. I was not that much scared because it was my second time to view it. I also caught some sleeps because these few days I always stayed up late and lacked some sleeps because of the exam, but even if I stayed all night I still ended up failing. Afterwards, I did some hobbies; I did like riding the bike.
On the day three to four, I did some advance reading on Math that I still did not know about. I studied the next lesson for the 3rd quarter: the multiplying polynomials, dividing polynomials and special products. After watching the explanation on Youtube, I finally understand it but I still don’t know the dividing polynomials. We also went to the wedding of my parent’s co-worker; we ate our lunch there and stayed there for like an hour watching them putting money on the newlyweds and doing some traditional way of celebrating wedding. After that we went to SM Cauayan to buy some stuff ad to bond and relax with my family.
In the afternoon we went to Bambanti Festival. We romed around there to see the beautiful Bambanti Village Agri-Tourism Booth. We took some pictures and then bought some snacks to eat like the Pasteurized milk, cotton candy, and corn with condensed milk and with cheese. We did not go to the concert in the evening because my parents had told me that there are going to be many people at night.
The next day, I was approved to hangout with my friends. We went to the park played with the bouncy car, slides, seesaw and swings. We also played there for a good 40 minutes. We felt like we were children again and then we went to the Korean mart to buy something. After that we played at the ground floor of the mall and then we headed to “Time Zone” to play games, we played the fish things, the ball one where you have to get the ball on the hole and we won many tickets there. We also played the gun thing and my friend accidentally pressed the one player button.
On the last day before the last day of sembreak, we were allowed to go on a sleep over by my friend’s house. I saw my two friends who did not pass the entrance exam. We swam until nightfall then my friend’s father bough McDonald’s and pizza. I ate chicken with spaghetti and a piece of pizza with Mcfloat. We watched “Alive” Korean Drama. It was so intense that we shouted and screamed at the actress when she fell to the ground. After that, we ate our midnight snack and we went to sleep.
On the last day of sembreak I had to go to the dorm because I needed to. When I had arrived I unpacked my things and went downstairs to get the food I asked auntie to buy for me. After that, we waited for my other roommate to watch a movie; when she had arrived we watch the movie ”Scream”. It was so fun but not scary. It had so many plot twists that I did not expect. One of the friends of the victim is the killer and the other killer is the boyfriend’s sister; the fight was so intense and had many jump scares.
I spend my sembreak by bonding with my family too. It was really memorable to be with my loved ones; we went to places to bond with them and build strong relationships for this can help you to open up or share some thought, feelings and allows you to get know each other deeper.
We have to prioritize the task that are important. We have to set our goals because clear goals can give you directions and it can make your life easier. Don’t put necessary things later
The most important is we have to balance our life because it is important for relaxation, hobbies and work. Time is one of the most crucial aspects of life. It’s a gift that we have to use wisely with family and friends because once it’s gone you can never go back so make a memories that is unforgettable.

Good Times
In this blog, I share about my experiences during our semester break. I really enjoyed it and I hope you will enjoy reading it too!
I woke up late today, as usual After I got up, I went ahead and eat my breakfast. like my usual routine I fixed my bed and since I felt a bit sticky and weird, I immediately showered I felt so refreshed after that! I had nothing else to do afterwards so I just watched on our TV. Of course, I had lunch, and it was okay. I did some chores afterwards and like I said earlier, I had nothing to do so after doing my chores, I watched some Korean TV shows. And after that, I had dinner and slept.
Of course, I woke up late, again. This only happens when its weekends or know I have no class, I don't know why. And just now my goes, I eat breakfast, which is usually cereal. sometimes it's bacon and other limes its egg. Anyway, after that, I fix my bed and shower. I had come chores to do so I did it after I showered, and my mom told me “Good job!"' like always. I was a bit hungry after I finished and thankfully our lunch was ready. I don" know if I was just hungry or not but the food was delicious.
As usual, I woke up late had breakfast, and fired the bed. I was just about to do my chores out my friends suddenly came to our house and said we were gonna go to Claire’s house, who is another one of my friends, so I asked my mom for permission, and she said okay so we commuted our way to her house. In we bought some r ice cream on the way as a snack. We basically just do random stuff like playing, watching, and cooking. We watched some cringey musical stuff and sang. we didn't have lunch, so we just cooked some spam and ate it with rice. And alas, we had to say our goodbyes, but we still have a hangout planned tomorrow to too so what I said earlier was a bit like the usual routine I eat breakfast, fix the bed, and shower. Remember the hangout I mentioned? I just checked my messenger and apparently Claire is going to the Bambanti Festival today, so her dad said that we should go with them so we still can hang out with each other. And her dad suggested it so who am I to refuse? So, I immediately asked my mom for permission, showered and changed my clothes. I waited for them to come pick me up and after a while they came, and I got in their car. Throughout the trip we just talked about random stuff until we were at the Sky Park in Ilagan, where the festival is usually held. After we got out of the car, the first thing we did was take a picture. We then went to the booths and checked them out, and my favorite was Cordon’s booth! I really liked the vibe and concept of their booth; it was unique! Me and my friends just walked around the place since the only thing you can do there is sightseeing, eating, and watch a concert at night.
We got hungry after a while, so we bought some snacks and walked around again. Soon after that, they got bored and started playing on my iPad. Claire’s dad was calling us to eat pancit Cabagan, so we tried to find it and we did but my other friend, Grace got lost for a while but fortunately, she found us. While we were eating at Claire’s dad got us a book about Isabela, containing some stuff about animals, places, and such. But Claire’s dad only asked us about the animals there like, their scientific names. Me and Nicole, who is also my friend, decided to share the same plate since we knew we couldn’t finish it on our own. We bought some stuff on the way to Claire’s house, we decided to stop by for dinner at her house. We also had to ask our parents to let us have dinner at Claire’s place, which wasn’t really that hard. While we were eating at Claire’s dad asked us if we wanted to have a sleepover here or were gonna go home after eating because, if so, then he’ll prepare in advance. So, we asked our parents for permission. Well for me, it was slightly hard to but through it all, I ended up having my first ever sleepover! After dinner we decided to go to their backyard and decided to play Marco and Polo. We had lots of fun and after that, we also played the game Mafia in Claire’s room. While we were playing, Claire’s dad knocked on the door and Claire asked who it was to which he replied to as “your snack giver” it was a pretty funny response, but we were mostly overjoyed because we had midnights snacks. We continued playing but we also watched “Our mighty yaya” before sleeping. We slept at around 3 AM and surprisingly woke up at around 7 AM. Our breakfast was delicious! it was shabu-shabu made by an attorney himself! He’s Claire’s dad. Convince my dad but since I am 13 now, he gave it a thought and asked some weird questions.
I told my mom that I was gonna go home after breakfast, but they extended it until lunch because my friends wanted to spend more time. We also played again after breakfast and finally had lunch. We went home together and when I got home, I immediately showered because I didn’t bring any extra clothes there. But after that, I did my chores, and my family was gonna go there but I was too tired to go so I stayed home with my cousin-in-law who is probably around her 20’s. She had three kids, two of them being boys, while the youngest one is a girl, who is currently 2 years old. The youngest one, Ryah, is very chaotic and she likes cats, like really like cats. She would scream and laugh when she saw a cat. I was also on a video call with my dad, and she kept messing with my iPad for some reason. Anyway, my family finally got home after a few hours, and I drank some hot chocolate before sleeping.
I woke up early today, like around quarter to 6 AM which is surprising considering I’m not in the dorms right now. But I slept again and woke up then ate breakfast and of course, fixed my bed. I don’t have any chores to do today so I just lazed around watching and playing badminton with my little sister. Since I had nothing else to do, I showered my dog, who is blind. His breed is Shih Tzu, and they have large eyes, so it was bulging out one day and we had to take him to the vet and after he got treated, he was blind. And this super common when it comes to Shih Tzu’s so, now you know.
Today is the second to last day of our semester break, so I helped my sister do the laundry, mostly just hanging the clothes but at least I helped. So anyway, as usual my breakfast was cereal, no surprise. Lunch was pretty okay but I always liked our dinner more. Since I wanted to spend more time with family, I did some activities that included us bonding with each other. I also hung out with my friends and bought some afternoon snack at a café which what we used to do after school during our elementary days. And finally, dinner, my favorite time of the day. They usually asked what we want for dinner which for me, I can’t decide on what I want to eat unless someone gives me options, but I can say for sure tuna is my favorite food, specifically Century Tuna.

Unforgettable
My sem break has been full of joy! People usually spend their breaks playing games, watching series, going to places, or just being on their phone the whole time, and doing whatever they want whenever they want to.
I spent some of my days hanging out with my friends. We barely got to see each other during school weeks since we are from different schools, so I was glad they all agreed to go hang out for the whole break. I really enjoy sem breaks. because it gets all the weight that has been put on my shoulder from all of the school activities, projects, assignments, unfinished notes, etc. and I will get more sleeping time since if it’s a school night I would stay up, causing to get 3-4 hours of steep.
On the first few days of my semestrial break, I stayed in my house enjoying watching a new K-drama series I found, browsing through the internet, listening to music, learning new dances, and reading stories. I also got introduced to my twin sister’s new friend From her newfound school. Talking to them at first was awkward, but we got along well in the end. In the last few days of the break, we went to our friends' houses to hang out for a few hours— We watched old cartoons, and scary movies, talked about gossip, and solved puzzles. When we were about to leave, but our friend’s father insisted that we stay and eat dinner with them; we were reluctant at first since our parents might ask where we were since it was getting late, but he said he would take care so we agreed.
After eating, we got sidetracked and started talking about random topics like, what came first the egg or the chicken? My friend's father saw how late it was, so he insisted that we stay overnight. We were so happy when he said that since it was going to be our very first Sleepover!! But, we had to wash the dishes but it wasn’t a problem since my sister was so eager that she said she would be the one to do all the dishes, of course, we helped her since we ate so many too, one person can't wish that all by herself.
After we were done, we came up with tons of crazy activities and skits.
On the next day, we witnessed the Bambanti Festival and learned lots about crocodiles.
That's how I spent my sem break. I thank god for giving me such a wonderful experience. It was very memorable and enjoyable for me. I do hope my next breaks will also be as joyful as this one.
