been readin too much of obatas works lately so seein deaht note again my brain kind of went. is this hikaru no. bakuman. platinum. shouten?. maybe one day ill reread death note but i know i always get so mad and annoyed by the ending yall dont know last time i reread it i wrote a whole document file (not a .txt like i usually do!) rewriting it starting at when it gets bad. (not the first one u thought of, hte other earlier moment wehn it gets bad) also i remember id always be so confused as to how it even gets bad cuz the start is so good n then i read more from ohba and i understood everything suddenly. if ure ever frustrated w death note try reading platinum end WITHOUT LAUGHING !!!
#despanico#post brought to u by. i chuckled in the library reading platinum end when 2 characters are killed off and it wasnt a comedic scene i just.#the writing is kind of bad. it made me laugh. also i dropped bakuman too. another case of an author who needs MORE restrictions not less#kaneshiro is another exemple of this.. i love his shorter works but everything longer than 10 volumes is literally the worst garbage

I get where they’re coming from, but doing a series at their age is definitely a bit straining.
They’ve certainly got the moxy for going down this route, I’ll give them that.
That’s nice, Mashiro, but, uh... you’re looking real tired.

So...this story originally began as an entry I wrote for the @smquickies2022 event a few months ago. The challenge was to write a sexy fic in a thousand words or less, which I managed to do...but I wasn’t particularly fond of the result, to be honest. The entry ended up focusing almost entirely on the sex to the exclusion of everything else, so I decided to expand the story for Smutember using the Day 16 prompt of “Something New” for the original @smutember event. It can also fit under the Week 3 prompts of “First Times and “Friends With Benefits” of Sailor Moon Smutember, hosted by @floraone. (It wasn’t Setsuna’s first threesome, but it was Usagi’s and Mamoru’s.)
Anyway, I’ve also included the original smquickies entry (Theme: Lace) as a bonus chapter for posterity, but there’s really no reason to read it if you’ve already read this chapter...unless you really are just interested in reading the smut part. In that case...have fun!
Summary: Looking for something new to spice up their sex life after a thousand years of marriage, Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion invite their good friend Setsuna into their bed for a memorable night together. (FF.net)

Get To Know
Thanks for the tag, @lou-is-lurking!
Rules: tag 9 people you want to get to know/catch up with
Last movie at home: I watched Hotel Transylvania 2 last night and will probably watch the third one later tonight.
Favorite color: Black (But I also love purple, blue, and deep red!)
Last song: “Oh, Holy Night” - Mariah Carey (Hey, it’s the eleventh day of Christmas -- don’t judge!)
Sweet, savory, or spicy: Hmm, it’s tough to decide between sweet or savory... Right now, I’m leaning savory.
Currently reading: Manga-wise, Knight of the Ice, Bakuman, Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku, and the last volume of Takane & Hana. As for fanfiction, the multiparts I’ve been actively reading lately are Beneath Your Beautiful (YOI) by EmHunter and Bunnycube, The Runner-Up (SM) by @daikon1, and Puppeteer (SM) by @floraone.
Currently working on: Final edits on my last two stories for YOI Rare Pair Week (Leo/Otabek and Minako/Celestino), a Chibi-Usa/Helios fic for @sailormoonrarepairweek, and a Victuuri fic for the YOI 18+ Discord server’s 2022 Winter Olympxxx event. Oh, and my YOI Big Bang.
Don’t feel obligated if you don’t want to, but tagging: @lilliebellfanfics, @quicksilverblue, @danni-bunny, @vchanny-og, @artimas, @teamvanessacloud, @venuscrescent, @moonlightusa, and @tinacentury.

Here’s a cute Victuuri story I wrote for the 2021 Yuri!!! on Ice Big Bang! The artwork was drawn by the talented dreamin.lilo, who can be found on Instagram. Check out the story to see the other two adorable pieces of artwork!
Summary: “Well, I’ve been thinking… Don’t you think it’s time we had a baby?”
Now that the two of them have officially retired from competitive skating, Yuuri is blindsided when his husband Viktor makes known his desire for a baby. He never even considered the idea of fatherhood before, but when Yuuko calls him last minute, desperate for someone to look after the ten-year-old triplets so she and Takeshi can celebrate their wedding anniversary, they’re given the opportunity for some first-hand experience taking care of children. I went outside yesterday, popped by my nearest manga shop and spent way more money than planned on manga.
So the hunt wasn't as successful as I had wished it to be because I didn't get the newest Nozaki-kun, Noragami and Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Ike volumes but will just order them online. Still I will probably have enough to read for 2/3 days, also the new volume of the Bakuman anime arrived.
There are quite a lot I'm really excited for this month, but the ones I'm looking forward to the most are definitely Adekan, Jojo and Rakuen no Bijo to Yajuu. God dammit I've waited so long for Kaori Yukis new manga to be published here!
Also I already read My broken Mariko yesterday and damn it hit me right in the feels...

I have heard of quite a few of these and seen most of the manga come thru my register at work lol. I can second the Check Please rec (it’s also a webcomic!) and I’ve been reading the newer Books of Magic in the past year or so ironically enough and thought it was fun, was considering fishing some of the 90s out of the dollar bin at a local comic shop but the condition wasn’t good. Calvin and Hobbes is a CLASSIC and I’ve been meaning to get around to Kingsmen cause I enjoyed the movies. DC Bombshells is a GIFT. A Gift. And I adore the Earth One Teen Titans, kinda wished they’d continued it. Kingdom Come is another classic and something I was leant in high school, I was very lucky in high school lol. Lumberjanes is adorable as well! I know you said you weren’t looking to start new stuff but Fence is a good one and has Check Please vibes. The Umbrella Academy is also great when it comes to just weird superhero flavored nonsense. And Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is a classic for a very good reason.

A pseudonym, eh? Makes sense, after what happened last time. And a lot of mangaka in general seem to prefer having anonymity.
I like it, it’s pretty cute.
All things considered, Mashiro is very insecure.

Emblem Take 2 Manga Creator: Payments for New Manga Creators Is Roughly the Same as 30 Years Ago
Bakuman screenshot via Netflix Japan
The creator of Emblem Take 2 manga series, Jun Watanabe, went to Twitter on October 26 to ponder if it’s okay that new manga creators are paid the same manuscript fees as he was when he debuted 30 years ago, though notes that it depends on the magazine. George Morikawa, the creator of Hajime no Ippo, chimed into the discussion, agreeing with Watanabe.
Translation of the above tweet:
“Thanks to the use of electronic devices, manga sales are said to be at an all-time high. But for new manga artists, manuscript fees remain mostly unchanged from when I made my debut over 30 years ago, though this depends on the magazine.
In some instances, such as in web magazines, the payments are even lower. I suppose there could be various reasons for this... I have a feeling that it's hard for writers to thrive in this kind of situation...
Is this really the right direction for the manga world?”
It should be noted that over the last few years, coupled with the rise of digital sales of manga, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba sold record amounts, more than double than any other manga series in one year, bringing up the whole manga market single-handedly. And those statistics are for physical sales, digital sales aren’t as widely tracked. This one-series phenomenon has continued with JUJUSTU KAISEN and Tokyo Revengers.
What Jun Watanabe is referring to are the base payments for new manga creators at the start of their manga-making careers for each page. Usually, rates for manga creators start at 10,000 yen (US$88) per page, depending on the magazine, how the chapters are presented, and of course their contracts. Manga creators are also paid royalty costs on every sale of the collected volume plus rights fees for anime and live-action adaptations, though historically that fee doesn’t scale up for big hits.
As outlined in the Bakuman manga, the duo got 9,000 yen (US$80) per page for their one-shot, then 12,000 yen (US$105) per page for the serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump. This draws parallels with what manga creator Sato Shuuhou, the creator of Say hello to BLACK JACK, revealed about their debut earnings with Umizaru in 1998, which was 10,000 yen (US$88) per page in Morning. As manga creators got more popular, their base rates go up, but so does production costs.
George Morikawa, the creator of Hajime no Ippo, replied to the above tweet, just saying “I’m with you [on this subject].”
同感です。
— 森川ジョージ (@WANPOWANWAN) October 26, 2021
It’s hard to prove what Watanabe claims is wholly true, as both the contracts for manga creators are a closely kept secret (unless they divulge the amount themselves), and digital manga sales aren’t tracked the same way physical sales are. But one thing is for sure, manga creators deserve to get paid, and 10,000 yen went a lot further (though, not much further) in the 1980s than in the 2020s.

2/19 - Naruto!
Volume 1 of "Naruto" reminds me the scene in "Bakuman" where they were talking about what makes a mainstream anime. I've never seen or read "Naruto" before, but it does have similar elements to some of the other mainstream anime that I have seen. One common element that I've noticed is that in most mainstream anime, the main character has a goal he or she wants to achieve, and that goal is really clear and portrayed within the first few chapters or episodes of the mainstream manga or anime. Perhaps the main character in a manga usually has a goal because most people reading the manga have goals themselves, and it is genuinely touching and inspiring to see the main character going through a bunch of hardships to achieve that goal.
I grew attached to Naruto as a character quickly and within the first chapter of the manga, I was already very emotionally involved in the scene where Iruka talks about how proud he is of Naruto. The excerpts for "Naruto" were very interesting. Although I was confused on a few parts, such as who are those frogs and where they came from, I actually followed along pretty well. Similar to "Mobile Suit Gundam," I felt like the villains in the excerpts had reasonable justifications for their actions. I really like how Naruto was able to peacefully resolve the issue with Nagato rather than having to cause a big commotion.

One of Shonen Jump Mangakas that never succeed-MIKIO ITOU
During the last 50 years,There are many known mangakas in the history of Weekly Shonen Jump known for their creations such as Hiroshi Motomiya-Otoko Ippiki Gaki-Daishō (The Ideal Man Boy's Gang Leader),Yasumi Yoshizawa for Dokonjō Gaeru (Gutsy Frog), Osamu Akimoto for Kochikame,Yōichi Takahashi for Captain Tsubasa,Tsukasa Hojo for City Hunter,Masami Kurumada for Ring ni Kakeru and Saint Seiya ,Hirohiko Araki for Baoh and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures,Akira Toriyama for Dr.Slump and DragonBall,Yoshihiro Togashi for Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter X Hunter,Nobuhiro Watsuki for Rurouni Kenshin and Busou Renkin ,Eiichiro Oda for One piece,Yabuki Kentaro' for Black cat and To Love Ru (with Saki Hasemi) ,Tite Kubo for Bleach,Masashi Kishimoto for Naruto,Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata for Death Note and Bakuman,Hideaki Sorachi for Gintama,Tadatoshi Fujimaki for Kuroko’s Basketball,Naoshi Komi for Nisekoi,Kohei Horikoshi for My hero Academia,Haruichi Furudate, for Haikyu! and more
And there are other Jump mangakas that didn’t succeed but try again like Yasuhiro Kanō for Mx0,Toshiaki Iwashiro for Mieru Hito,Psyren and Kagamigami,Ken Ogino for Lady Justice, Yuuji Kimura for U-19,Ryouhei Yamamoto for E→Robot and Love Rush,Naoya Sugita for SWOT and Zan,Masaru Miyokawa and Ryousuke Takeuchi for ST&RS,Kenta Komiyama and Yuuya Kawada for Smoky B.B. and Kikai Banashi HanasakaIkkyuu,Naoki Iwamoto of Magico,Kenji Sakaki of Enigma,Tomohiro Yagi of Iron knight and Red Sprite and More
But there are some mangakas that never succeeded in Weekly Shonen Jump from Shueisha and decided to move on to a different publisher,he is one of them his name is Mikio Itou.
Mikio Itou was born on 26th March 1973 ,He got an Tenkaichi Manga Awards for his debut one shot Romantasino or in japanese ロマンタジーノ which is published in Akamaru Jump in 1998 and later in weekly Shonen Jump in 1999.
He was an assistant to 2 Mangaka of Jump like Eiichiro Oda (One piece) and Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin) and is friends with fellow assistants like Hiroyuki Takei (Shaman King) ,Shinya Suzuki ( Mr Fullswing and Bari Haken) and Shinga Gin ( Shounen Tantei Q and Oni Ga Kitarite ) who sadly died on 26th of May 2002 and Oda coloured his cover of chapter 233 in Black.
Anyway,A year after his second one shot called TRANZSTER which is published on the 49th issue of 1999 Weekly Shonen Jump.
He wrote his first Jump manga series called Normandy Secret Club which was unfortunately cancelled and ran for 5 volumes which ran from 2000-2001
He then wrote a one shot manga called Jugem Jugem published in Weekly Shonen Jump · 2002 No. 29.
This one shot serves as a pilot for his next Jump manga series called Granada - The Ultimate Science Expedition. But like his previous series Normandy it too was cancelled and it ran for 2 volumes only in 2003,Which is considered his short term manga series.
So he then wrote 2 one shot manga stories like Go West! Published in Akamaru Jump in spring of 2004 and Secret weapon Hattori Published in Weekly Shonen Jump no 42 (2004)
His next one shot manga called Nazo no Murasame-kun published in issue 52 of 2005 Weekly Shonen Jump which helps him greenlight it as his 3rd Jump manga series and I have to say the protagonist does look a bit like harry Potter from the first 2 movies before the Prisoner of Azkaban,Anyway You might think that series will succeed because as they say in a phrase ‘Third time's a charm’ Well sadly no,Because this series got cancelled like Itou’s two previous series and it ran for 3 volumes in 2006 just like Granada did and this comes in another phrase ‘Three strikes,You're out’ because this is Itou’s 3rd and last Jump series and was last chance to gain a ongoing series,an anime adaptation and some recognition for his work.
Itou then went on to make 2 more one shots for Jump like Orochi 2 in Akamaru Jump (summer 2007) and CruncH in Jump Square (june 2009) before he no longer publish his manga stories and Jump magazine line and Shueisha.
He ended making a new series called Tadashi Ikemen ni Kagiru (or as in English Good Looking Guys only) for the magazine Shounen Rival which is published by Kodonasha it is later transferred to Kodansha New Magazine WEB New Magazine Laboratory and it might be ongoing or not, You can check out the site for his current series ,If you like :http://new-comic.kodansha.co.jp/comics/?tag_search_tags=%E3%81%84%E3%81%A8%E3%81%86%E3%81%BF%E3%81%8D%E3%81%8A
But for me that series probably ended and he never makes any new manga series ever since.Maybe he continues as an assistant to Oda ,I am not sure
You know when I was going to write about a Jump manga who remain forgotten because of failed for the Shonen Jump 50th anniversary, I thought Mikio Itou would do and he is because he has failed 3 Jump series and he moved to a different publisher instead ,He will be considered as one of the mangakas that never succeeded in Weekly Shonen Jump from Shueisha and not end up along with other legendary Jump Mangaka artists for the Jump’s 50th Anniversary
And if you would like to contact him visit his twitter site : https://twitter.com/AntoninLeopold
