Waking up from nightmares - Wuthering Waves Characters

Waking up from nightmares - WuWa Characters
malereader x Jiyan/Calcharo/Mortefi/Yuanwu/YangYang/Baizhi (separated), fluff, scenarios;
mxm or mxg; they can be a little out of character;
Yuanwu
You saw it again. Your partner slipping away, on the ground, in your arms. Just because you arrived too late to rescue him.
You couldn't get over it. Your heart started beating like crazy. Tears came to your eyes. And seconds later you woke up. With a headache that was killing you.
You growled angrily at yourself. Again you let yourself be swept away by those awful illusions.
You looked around, but in the darkness you couldn't see what you were looking for. Nor could you sense it. Unsatisfied, you moved closer to other side of a bed. Fortunately, this helped you reach your partner.
You hugged him gently around his waist and he instinctively woke up by that.
When it came to him that you were not an assassin, only his fiancé, he just murmured questioningly.
-I'm sorry - you replied with slight guilt - Bad dream
-I didn't know that boys your age still have nightmares - he said teasingly.
At which you pinched him with a scowling face.
-Oi oi I was just joking - he assured while snorting lightly, really amused by your behavior.
-This old jokes are not really funny
-Maybe for you - he replied trying to light the mood.
After a while, however, he turned towards you and returned the hug.
-Are you all right? - he asked this time with clear concern in his voice.
-Yes, because I am here with you now
Jiyan
At first second you were running through the middle of a battle, escaping from monsters.
And at the next one you were snatching your upper body from a bedsheets scattered all over your tent.
Your eyes were wide open and your mouth gaped.
You don't know how long it took. Seconds, minutes or maybe more.
Eventually, however, you came back to reality. You calmed your breathing and looked around, recalling where you actually were. Still at least a couple of kilometers away from a battlefield.
You threw something over your uncovered shoulders and blindly walked out of a tent.
A small campfire and glow of stars allowed you to see more than just a tip of your own nose. You were deeply grateful for that.
A few steps away, just under a large tree, Jiyan seated himself. As you thought, he had taken over the watch over this part of a camp.
Even though it should be done by someone lower in rank, Jiyan still felt this strange sense of responsibility inside him. A need to be sure that all his comrades were safe.
You used to try to talk him out of it, but over time you got used to it. And at this exact moment you needed something other than an argument.
With a sleepy steps you walked through the separating distance and took place right next to him.
Beaten, you rested your head on his shoulder and closed your tired eyes.
-Bad dream? -he asked just for affirmation.
And you murmured with a nod, snuggling your head more into his body. Trying to find a perfect position and insisting on getting those few more precious minutes of sleep.
Jiyan understood well what you were facing. He himself had experienced it many times. Nightmares only escalated the more you approached your next battle. Memories kept coming back and phantoms of your lost comrades haunted you after nights.
Yet he also knew that there was no way to deal with it.
So he took your hand in his and began to knead it gently. He didn't want to express his feelings too much in public, but at the same time he wanted to reassure you about his presence. Hoping that his support would allow you to relax and drift off. While he kept protecting you both.
Mortefi
-[M/N]! [M/N]! -irritated Mortefi slapped your arm several times. Stubbornly trying to get out of your embrace. He didn't know about what terrible thing you were dreaming, but whatever it was, it made you squeeze him with an unhuman strength. Almost crushing his fragile body.
-[M/N]!
Your heart beat faster.
Suddenly you opened your eyes. Your grip only tightening.
-Mortefi? -you asked hesitantly. Wanting to make sure of his nearness.
-It won't be for long, if some fool doesn't stop suffocating me! - Mortefi hissed with a fake anger in his voice.
And without warning, he flashed with colors of his scales. Thanks for that, even in the darkness, you could see his sulky face for a split second.
-Oh… sorry.
Still not fully awake, though rather sad, you loosened your grip. Mortefi immediately crawled out of your arms and moved to a sitting position.
However, hearing your voice, his heart melted. Real Mortefi instantly returned.
-Can- can I do something for you? -he asked unsurely, angry at himself over how he had jumped on you.
For a moment, he just really felt close to getting broken ribs.
-Oh, no baby no -you assured- Nothing really, don't worry -you suddenly raised yourself on your elbows- Are you alright? Did I hurt you?
Mortefi rapidly shook his head. However, he quickly remembered that with the light off you couldn't see it.
Not wanting to bring up the subject again, he reached out his hands in your direction.
At first contact, his fingers gently brushed your neck. Slowly he moved his hands higher. Stopping on your cheeks. He squeezed them tighter, pulling your head in his direction and laying it on his stomach.
-Are you sure? I don't want to hurt you - you asked slightly heartbroken. At that, Mortefi could almost picture you with imaginary flopped ears.
-Then I'll wake you up again- he assured, quite embarrassed.
-What did you dream about? - he changed the topic.
You just frowned and mumbled, not really wanting to return to that.
-Do you want me to sing for you? - he bit his lip unsurely, recalling situations from the past.
You rapidly nodded your head, and Mortefi laughed lightly at the sensation of your tickling hair.
He grabbed your strands and began to gently play with them. Massaging your head in the process. After a long moment, he began humming a lullaby from his childhood.
Calcharo
You jumped off the bed with a silent scream. Looking straight ahead, you were inhaling air with a greedy gasps. While thick drops of sweat ran down your face, chest was dropping and rising like crazy.
You involuntarily slid your hand out to your right side, in search of help. Instead of the expected warmth of your partner's body, you appeared to come into a contact with the cooling bedsheets.
You rushed with your eyes to the other half of a bed.
Calcharo was nowhere to be seen.
Though still in shock, you made your way to the hallway.
A dim light came from a small kitchen, so you followed its path.
When you crossed a doorway of room, your partner came into a view.
Calcharo was standing backwards. In his hand he was holding a cup with an unidentified drink.
-Care to join me?
He turned towards you. As if completely unfazed by your presence. Even though it happened to you for the first time.
Still hot and overwhelmed with emotion, you looked at him more closely. Despite your distraction, you couldn't help but notice a slightly torn white T-shirt. Signs of overclocking.
-What-… what's that? - you asked hesitantly while slowly stabilizing your breathing.
Man spun around once again. Though this time sideways, to the close stove. He pulled a new cup from a cabinet and turned his attention to a pot from which steam was still floating.
He moved as smoothly as if things that he had just experienced were completely normal for him.
-One of my clients said that hot milk helps. Not that I believe him. But we are wasted anyway.
Baizhi
You were awakened from your nightmare by a gentle shaking. You gritted your teeth and squeezed your eyelids tighter. Trying to banish a sight of fallen comrades from your mind.
-[M/N]? -someone squeezed your shoulder harder.
You pulled yourself up on a bed. Sliding your hand out of a pair of delicate palms. You opened your eyes blinking several times. You could feel something wet slide off your forehead. A cold compress.
-You started to sweat a lot and tremble as well - someone explained monotonously and quietly.
You turned towards direction of that voice. Sight of your girlfriend came into a view. Light of a candle placed on your bedside table was falling on her body dressed-up in your white shirt.
Baizhi looked like she hadn't slept for a fairly long time.
-At first I wasn't sure if it was a nightmare or an illness. But after a long analysis, I came to the conclusion that it was just a bad dream.
You looked at her confused and at the same time slightly offended.
-Just?
Baizhi looked down at her hands, avoiding eye contact. She bit her cheek gently.
You were already about to say something when she got up from her knees and, almost jumping off the bed, ran to the cabinet.
-Herbal tea made with flowers from Taoyuan Vale. It is supposed to help with sleep - she straightened her hands, moving cup closer to you. By doing so, she bowed in traditional way, with expectation of you accepting her gift.
Drink definitely left a bitter aftertaste, but at the same time it strangely calmed you down.
-Thank you, Baizhi - you replied with genuine gratitude. Corners of her mouth gently lifted upward. Not to mention a slight blush on her cheeks.
Yangyang
Frightened, you rose quickly from a bed. Panting heavily. In your head you still saw that chase. Or rather, an escape. In this dream, you were the prey.
You quickly pulled yourself together. You wanted to go right back to sleep, just to avoid waking up your girlfriend.
However, when you were about to rest your back against the mattress once again, something prevented you from doing so. And it wasn't that suspiciously lit bedside lamp. Something was stubbornly squeezing your hand.
You looked to the side. Your girlfriend was kneeling by your bed. Waves of her black hair splashed across your duvet, right next to your body.
-Yangyang? -you asked softly. Girl, however, didn't respond.
You dipped your free hand into her hair and gently stroked her strands. Trying not to get tangled in them, and in the same time awaken your partner. Slowly you repeated her name louder and louder until she finally woke up.
-[M/N]!
She immediately got off the floor and threw herself around your neck, squeezing as hard as she could.
-I was so scared! -she spoke in a shaky voice- I tried so hard to wake you up, but- but I couldn't! And you-. you just…-
Words caught in her throat, she couldn't finish. She began to swallow air and tears greedily.
Worried, you squeezed her torso, pushing her back by a short distance.
-Hey, babe. I'm completely fine, you have nothing to worry about -you assured, stroking her cheek in a calming manner.
You quickly forgot about your nightmare when all your attention got preoccupied with taking care of one tiny soul.

Baizhi is totally a virgin and since she now has a lover I bet she'd ask the age old question of "how are babies made?" To which you give her a full HANDS ON breeding session
That is all goodnight
If you're saying that in a /srs way as in she genuinely doesn't know then I Disagree cuz like isn't she a literal researcher??? If you mean in like a baiting way to get you to fuck her silly then like she probably would tbf, I can see her saying things like that if she were horny enough
You're SO fucking right in the thought that she'd be a virgin though 😭😭😭 not bc she couldn't get with anyone before you, she could if she wanted to like have you SEEN HER??? It's just the fact that Baizhi isn't necessarily all that?? Interested??? Like it's not in the forefront of her mind, she won't die if she doesn't get off or anything, esp when she has better things to do like work
But ever since she met you, admittedly she starts feeling more......out of sorts ☺️ and as a researcher, obviously she has to. Yk. Do her thing :3 the fact that this is NOWHERE near her field is none of your concern 🤷♀️
Anyway I don't think she would've ever Anticipated in the immediate force. And you've certainly tried to be gentle with her, seeing that it's her first time :(( but you just can't help it, not when she's SO unbelievably tight around your length as she asks you to move. She doesn't beg, that's only on later stage when she gets particularly deaperate and her braincells bave decided to take the holiday off, but she does ask you to move faster. And when she looks like that, how could you NOT put your ass into it???
Her nails dig into your back as you repeatedly bottom out inside her, painting her insides white with your seed. If she's gonna be stupid and ask such a question despite her being literally smart as hell then you may as well Make her dumb 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ and stuffed full of your cum to the point where it drips down whenever you plunge inside

the tears that fell from the ghost hounds eyes
Pairing: Calcharo x Reader
“I thought I was protecting them.”
“From me?”
Warning: rating 18+ for accidental pregnancy, references of s*x, maybe ooc?
-It had been very sudden, something neither of you were expecting.
-You were terrified to tell him, as most people were even to scared to approach him in general.
-Except for you, when three drinks too many you ended up tangled between his arms in his bed.
-Thus you ultimately decide that you’re actually a chicken and opt out of saying anything until it started to become more and more obvious you had been hiding something big.
-He could sense the change in the tides rather swiftly, picking up on all your habits, the standoffishness you had been exhibiting, the way you had become secretive, how he could sense something was different. You looked different, and though it had been months since he last touched you, he could feel a difference.
-He couldn’t figure what he had done to make you change so much in such a short amount of time, he partially wondered if you had another lover, if you were getting attention elsewhere. That could be the change, someone who is fulfilling your needs better then he ever could.
-You however, were panicking with each incoming day as your bump grew larger and larger, your hips widening, your breasts also larger and far more tender. Your body was constantly changing, and with that came the worst case of morning sickness Baizhi had seen in a long time. She tried her best to give you some natural remedies that wouldn’t hurt you or the baby in your womb but to no avail nothing helped except to hideaway and sleep off the nausea off.
-Calcharo was beginning to worry, something the man hadn’t thought he was capable of in so long, the coldness that enshrouded him, he never thought someone as warm as you would find a way to melt through.
“This is the third com they’ve sent within the last few months that they are still away on an expedition. I think they might have defected sir,” One of his men say to him. He says nothing in return, his eyes cold and calculating. He wonders about the timing, wonders if you had enough of one night with him. Fine. Let it be that way.
-About 20 weeks go by, your bump is out and you’ve been in hiding for far to long. Guilt consumed you, knowing that your child deserved a father, but the question was simple, would he be a good one? He was cold, men and women of all kinds feared him, his enemies loathed him, a target on his head at all times. What kind of life would that be for your child?
-And you would protect your unborn child, in whatever way was necessary.
-And then he finds you, in passing, at the market. In fact, he sees you before you see him, and he struck in awe, your belly swollen, hands cradling the bump hidden beneath the fabric of your dress.
-This is what you had been hiding? You were with child? Was it his? Was it someone else’s? How far along were you? Why did you hide it? Why did you hide? His thoughts races a million miles an hour, his body paralyzed in place as he watches you converse with the townspeople. An old granny, putting her hand on your stomach, a smile emitting from your lips.
-However all he can think about is how he had been shut out, how he had been given no choice, how he didn’t know, how much he had missed. It hurt him to admit but he was mad, and not because you had done any of these things, but because he already knew why without having to ask.
-His position, his work, his source of income. The dangers he brought just by existing in the same space as you, he knew why.
-But he is a stubborn man, and views his responsibility of raising his unborn child as a higher priority then the Ghost Hounds. So his feet begin to travel in wide strides, strait towards you, pushing through the crowd of people in the heart of Jinzhou.
“Y/N.” His voice is quiet but startles you in whipping around, arms flying to your bump. To hide it maybe? Your not sure, it feels like the right thing to do. His presence is overwhelming, his scent familiar, but when you look into his eyes to see nothing but pure hurt you’ve understood you’ve made the wrong choice in not telling him. Your eyes well with tears faster then you can comprehend, your emotions on heightened hormonal train wreck.
The granny stands quietly behind you, a pillar in your current pregnancy when you had come back into Jinzhou for check ups with Baizhi. She had offered you a bowl of ramen from her shop telling you that it was okay you couldn’t afford it, you had another mouth to feed. Once you had stabilized another job within the city you had been constantly visiting her to pay back your due to her kindness. She knew of the man standing in front of you, you had only spent most of your time talking about him.
“Why don’t we take this inside children, its rather busy in the market today,” Her wizened words pull Calcharo from his stupor, his hand reaching to you to guide you into the grandmothers ramen shop.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He sounds almost desperate as soon as you’ve walked into the silence of the shop, he doesn’t care, “You just left. You lied.”
“I thought I was protecting them,” Your lips trembled, he had every reason to be mad, even if you didn’t think the leader of the ghost hounds would want anything to do with family or raising one of his own.
“From me?” He whispers.
You stay silent, guilt raising the bile in your throat, your stomach flipping. With shaky hands you feel the walls of your throat closing up, a gagging motion coming from your gut as you turn to beeline for the bathroom. In an instant your on your knees in front of the toilet, holding onto your stomach and the rim of the toilet bowl as this mornings breakfast makes it way out of your body.
-(Baby Calchalator isn’t a fan of cheesy eggs on toast apparently)
-You can’t hear anything, your body is reverent with chills, shaking violently with each outburst.
-You almost don’t recognize his touch because he is so gentle.
-His hands slip around the strands of your fallen hair, pulling it back as his other hand rubs soothing circles along your back. He was on his knees, one on each side of your body, holding you tightly in place.
-Once you’ve finally calmed, his hands reach under each arm to help you to your feet, a task that usually had been taking the wind out of you and a task he did effortlessly.
“I’m sorry I left.” You whisper after a few moments of silence.
His eyes were defeated, head hanging low as his eyes trained on the tips of his shoes, “If you don’t want me to be here I’ll leave, I’ll do whatever you think is best for you and our child.”
-And-oh god-
-He wants it, and your hearts racing because he wants your child, he wants to be there, to raise them on his principles, to take their hand and guide them through life, and he wants to be there doing that with you.
-He’s stern now, feeling fear for the answer to come from your lips. On one hand he knew he would bring danger, in was in his nature and nothing good ever followed once he collected of his debts from his line of work. He knew he was rigid, bound by a staggering fate that he would cycle through each contract till one eventually took his life. Would he leave his child without a father out of fate or because of a decision of the one person who made him change his mind on everything? Because on the other hand, he never knew how quickly he’d embrace the idea of having his own kid. He could already feel the twinge of hope taking root inside of him, hope that you would let him stay, hope that he would get to hold that little baby in his arms, hope that would be his reason to shape into a man his child would be proud to call their father.
You don’t hesitate, “Stay.”
-His eyes snap to your eyes, checking for honesty, he’s in disbelief. Stay? Stay.
“You’ll still have me? Despite everything?” He’s cautious, will they just leave him again? Will they change their mind? His fear is masked with a stoic thin line of his lips pressed together, emotions securely hidden behind his eyes. They tell you nothing, you don’t know what he’s thinking, but you can feel his pain, the hurt, the betrayal.
“You’ve proved me wrong,” You say, looking at him, “I don’t think there is anybody else who deserves this more then you do, and I am so sorry that I almost took that from you.”
-It was the most honest apology he’d ever received, and in no time you were in his arms, in the confines of the bathroom where no one, not even granny, could see the tears that fell from the ghost hounds eyes. His heart had been beating so fast, his hands felt frozen solid and yet he grappled you in, his hands finding solace on the growing bump.
(AN: This was 100% self indulgent. Should I make this a series?)

i haven’t seen anyone talk about the outfit descriptions in wuwa and i honestly don’t know if they’ve always been there or if that’s new bc outfits are a thing in the game now
BUT LIKE
who wrote these ????????
rovers is so borderline passive aggressive that every time i look at it i giggle
also. did that line single-handedly make the fact that rover doesn’t ever change clothes canon within the story?

mortefi’s only has one line that’s actually about the outfit (same goes for like half the characters). but we know damn well that most of the academy researchers are NOT dressed like him and that’s all you had to say pertaining to his outfit ????

some of the funniest ones are like baizhi’s where they try and convince you the outfit is practical. like no….it’s not…
you have her fighting tacet discords in a mini bodycon dress….

shout out to yuanwu for having a description that is genuinely (mostly) just about the outfit

and then shout out to aalto and youhu’s outfit descriptions for having absolutely NOTHING to do with their clothes

“Red is Carlotta’s color.”
but…
…pink…?
her outfit is pink….
i can forgive that solely for for the laugh i had when reading that last line because i refuse to accept that they wrote that unironically

and lastly, my personal favorite. jiyan.
because what do you mean ?????
i have so many questions !!!
you’re telling me that either:
1.) jué can just materialize an outfit at will and its certified drip magic ended up outliving its omnipotence
or
2.) jué, the sentinel of jinzhou, a deity, somehow communicated with a human to commission a custom tailored outfit. (maybe that’s why it appointed jinshi as magistrate right afterward….so it could impart its dreams of making jiyan its personal dress-up barbie girl by making her talk to a tailor for it…)
but no matter what the answer is, just remember that jué specifically curated an outfit for jiyan that leaves little to the imagination in the chest area.
unless jué genuinely thought that’s what the rest of the rangers dressed like. “based on the standard uniform”—THATS NOT EVEN REMOTELY WHAT THE RANGERS ARE DRESSED LIKE??

there’s probably more good ones but i don’t have like half of the characters
this game is ridiculous i love it dearly

A/n: I sort of strayed a little with this one I feel like, but thank you sm for the request, and I hope you enjoy this!
Contents: Mortefi x GN!Reader, jealous reader, reader is very stubborn I must say, not proof-read. lemme know what you think!
Words: 3059
It’s suffocating. Uncomfortably warm and slimy. This feeling that roils within your chest and throat, you’re sure you’re about to start feeling sick from the thoughts spiraling within your mind. And the lab papers in front of you and the endless sound of the machine’s beeping is not enough to distract you.
Beep-beep-beep.
Have you done something wrong? What could it be? Only minutes prior were you looking at these papers with some sense of pride, imagination running wild with the possible outcomes of this hypothesis, positive ones. Yet, they were so easily shattered when Mortefi breezed by, catching a glimpse of the words printed on top, leaving several comments of where you could improve - how you should improve if you want to go through with this. Had you had a clear mind you would’ve done as he said, taken his words as helpful advice and not as an attack on your work. But his tone remained the same as always, it didn’t soften nor did it grow warm. So it made you wonder what he meant, or rather - what he really felt towards you. The latter was a question that occupied your mind for a long time.
He moved past you to the center of the lab, nearing one of the many lit computers, just where Baizhi stood. From afar you could see them greet one another and begin to talk. And that feeling in your chest only expanded further, pawing at your ribs and making you frown at the helplessness. Mortefi looked interested in whatever their topic of conversation was, and it lasted some odd few minutes. Odd minutes you couldn’t keep your focus until both of them left to their own stations, and far out of your sight.
A heavy breath fell from you, irritated but also… sad.
With your mind in a strewn about yarn, threads hanging, you began to think if this work was even worthy for you. God knew you wanted it, you signed up for it, you spent nights studying and working to be better and get better than that but all that effort seemed to fall short and small within Baizhi’s shadow. And you don’t even blame her, she is excellent in her work, you don’t hate her. But you’d give a questionable amount of things to have a fraction of that sweet attention Mortefi was giving her. Perhaps you were being unreasonable, irrational - and you don’t argue with it - you’re seeing green and red everywhere, and with hasty hands you collect your papers after making small adjustments, crossing out lines of text and noting down new words. And moments later you’re off to another part of the Academy, away from Mortefi and Baizhi.
What little glimpse Mortefi caught of you as you left shows disappointment and, and in the way you held yourself he saw traces of turmoil that he didn’t fully understand from that one look. He remained at his station, engrossed in his research and unaware of the burden you carried in your heart.
It wasn’t until the time for your report came and went. And when your break time came and went. And you were nowhere in sight.
That made an odd feeling settle in his chest, a vibration of an unknown bass playing amidst the bones of his ribcage, waves of it washing up to his neck. Unable to ignore it any longer, he bid farewell to his station for the time being, one hand buried in the pocket of his lab coat, playing with the lighter. Flick..flick..
There was not one spot in this wide and vast Academy that you could hide from him, not when he wasn’t particularly looking for you and even more so when he was specifically looking for you. He could spot you in a crowd by one lone look, to him you stood out like a flower amidst grass, how could he overlook you? Following the path familiar to him, he comes into a lab room smaller in contrast than the others, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the center room and the halls. It is clean, it is comfortable. His eyes land on your back, your nose buried in your papers, your hands hastily fiddling with the apparatus in front of you. You barely acknowledged his presence.
As if to avoid startling you, Mortefi clears his throat, but he fails and watches as you flinch at the sudden disturbance.
“Mortefi? Uh- What are you doing here? Did you need me?” the questions tumble out from your mouth out of habit rather than genuine curiosity. You turned to face him, brows lightly knit together and eyes regarding him with a mix of feelings and inquiries.
“I grew curious as to where you vanished off to. Has your research been so indulgent that you forgot to eat or report in? It’s been 3 hours and some odd minutes since you began on this project this morning” he began, the nail on his thumb grazing underneath the lid of his lighter within his pocket, keeping still, yet tense in his hand. His sharp gaze moves from your eyes and down to the table you were working at, noting the sharpie marks across your paper and thinner lines from your pen, and giving a small nod at them he said: “You made those adjustments I told you about, I trust”
This pulls your attention from him and at the papers, and taking his words as some sign to move freely you begin to stack pages back on top of another. “Yes. I made the necessary changes to it all. I just need to put it all into practice and, hopefully, get the results I want” you respond, clearing your parched throat. His gaze is intense, you can feel it at the back of your head like two sharp points of a stick.
“You’ve been pushing yourself today, unnecessarily so. I sense some growing frustration from you” he says, leaving the topic open ended, expecting you to explain yourself, but where do you even begin without looking like a fool? Like a child?
You sigh, looking around the table yet searching for nothing as you shrug your shoulders. “No, no.. I just haven't been sleeping too well lately, and it seems that all is catching up to me” you offer a empty excuse, before reaching for a blank sheet of paper, a part of you yearning to keep him here, and the other wishing him to leave you with your own emotional burdens. “If a report is what you need, I can only offer what I have from the experiment thus far, but it is not concluded, I apologize”
“Ah, yes.. sleep. One thing that is most underestimated in its importance” he mused out loud, tone flat and ignoring your latter statement for a moment too long. He was pressing deeper into the crux of the matter, not letting you shift the topic too easily. “The report for an unfinished work will not be necessary, it’s much more preferable if you take a bit longer to get end results than to hand over a half-baked product”, he sighed, pushing his golden rimmed glasses further up the bridge of his nose. “Your dedication is admirable, but we can hardly expect progress if you're operating on insufficient rest and mental fatigue”.
You have to stop yourself from either chuckling or spinning around to stare at him as if he was speaking backwards. But no matter what you tried, you couldn’t stop your heart from hammering in your chest.
“Perhaps you should have Baizhi take a look at you. She can prescribe you some soothing medication to help you sleep. But as for work.. You’re done for today” he stated plainly, looking to the side and barely missing your shocked eyes.
“What? Are you dismissing me?” you blurted out, suddenly afraid you have done something wrong or that you offended him in some capacity. He’d never send you home, especially not when you were in the midst of a project.
“It's not a matter of dismissiveness, but rather a practical decision. If your exhaustion is hindering your ability to perform optimally, what benefit is there in insisting on your presence here?” he replied, his tone cool and detached. You blink at him owlishly, confused and, quite frankly, afraid. Previous anger, sadness and jealousy all melting away from your bones like wax over a flame. The flame being Mortefi himself. An eternal blaze that swallowed everything in its wake. You were wondering how it didn’t engulf you by now.
But in that thought alone you missed the point of it all. His flames didn’t touch you, didn’t scorn you because he willed them that way. The warmth of them kept you warm, kept you alive, kept you in this field and as his coworker, a place most others wouldn’t be able to handle. He would soften it all if he knew how, to show you he cares.
Sensing a shift in your emotions, Mortefi softened his gaze, a subtle nod of understanding replacing the usual aloofness he carried. He saw the confusion and fear in your eyes, and it pained him that he had inadvertently caused it. He knew that his words could often come across as cold and dismissive, but it was never his intention to harm or offend.
“Rest is not a punishment, but a necessary part of the work process. To push oneself to the point of exhaustion is unproductive. It only inhibits progress. Trust me when I tell you this."
Softness is undeniably present in his voice now, and your mind goes blank. Your mind was still stuck on this morning, on your project, but here he was breaking all illusions and thoughts by simply being kind.
“I can’t say I don’t appreciate your concern, but..” you look up at his eyes only to find a scowl curling the corners of his lips, and you sigh again, looking away in embarrassment. “I can’t argue with you either, can I?”
“No, you cannot. Now, go pack up what you have. I’ll go contact Baizhi and see if she can get a check up on you before you leave”
“No, no, that won’t be necessary..” you wave your hands before you, shaking your head simultaneously to deny the offer with your entire being. “I already have some tea at home that can help me with this, no need for a check up. I insist” you try, but only get a cocked brow from Mortefi, you can already tell what he’s thinking.
“Tea alone cannot be sufficient in treating issues related to poor sleep. Besides, it goes without saying Baizhi is well versed in medicine, and her prior check-ups of your health have been of great help to you, have they not? If tea was that simple of medicine, why have you not seen improvement?” he shot back sharply and you grew quiet, not wishing to prolong this argument further, but staying silent wouldn’t be the way to go either.
“I don’t want to see Baizhi right now” you said plainly, tone low and softened involuntarily. Your reply was met with a skeptical look, Mortefi’s head tilted in question. “And why not? Do I need to pull you to her office myself? You’re not a child, (Y/n)” he countered, not low on his arsenal of words and snappy remarks. He approached you closer, closing the distance between the two of you until he could peer into your avoidant eyes, making your heart skip a beat.
“I just.. Mortefi, I don’t know. I don’t want to see Baizhi and that’s final. Don’t make me go see her. I’ve seen enough of you two this morning” It slipped from your mouth sooner than you could pull it back, and immediately you regretted your choice of words, cursing the ability to speak. “Uh-”
Mortefi froze in his tracks, his sharp eyes widening subtly in surprise. The mention of Baizhi and himself seemed to strike a chord in him, and his stoic façade cracked just enough to betray a hint of confusion. “Hm? Have we done something to offend you to this degree of avoidance? I wasn’t aware of any discomfort inflicted upon you” he knitted his brows, looking at you for answers, his turn to feel on edge now. Were you implying he was acting out of line with Baizhi? He knew of how he behaved around others and he saw no flaws in his dealings with other colleagues, so it all left him in a more twisted maze.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, lips pressing into a thin line. “Mortefi- no. You haven’t done anything to offend me, I am not offended. I just.. uh.. No, it’s all too silly. I just meant that you two just seem to be too busy with your shared workload, and I just got tired of seeing it all” It’s a badly written lie, and the truth is bleeding through the cracks in neon colors. You’re cringing at yourself, really.. The lies you were uttering, however poorly woven, were evident in the way your face creased. He could almost hear your thoughts, almost see the jealousy and insecurity that plagued you through the lies you were trying to hide behind.
He paused for a moment, considering the situation carefully, before responding. "Is it really about our workloads, or is there something else that you're not telling me?" He asked calmly, his voice low and measured.
A pregnant pause befell your ears, only being interrupted by a distant hum of a machine outside of the room, and the footsteps of other workers in the halls. He does not push you to answer swiftly, instead he waits, patient as ever with you.
“I suppose…”
“You suppose..?”
It’d be a lie to say he wasn’t taut as a bowstring, ready to hear you out, anticipating your reply. His heart was squeezing painfully in his chest.
“Ugh..I just.. Promise me you will not be angry at me, and that you will not think ill of me after I tell you?”
“Well, this must be big if you’re asking that of me” he breathed out. Your hesitation was palpable, and the silence between them dragged on, only adding to the palpable tension. Finally, the words came, and he felt a strange mixture of anticipation and trepidation.
“I'll promise no such thing will come from me. Your words cannot change the way I feel about you” he replied, his voice tinged with a touch of irritation.
With a heavy breath you closed in on yourself, arms folded over your chest. “I was just.. watching how close you and Baizhi are this morning and for a long time now. You always spend so much time together, and despite you and I being direct coworkers and more than that outside of this Academy, I feel.. left behind”
“You are jealous?”
“If you wish to put it that bluntly - then yes. I am”
Mortefi’s coldness and stiffness seemed to melt, the answer finally clearing up the brain fog that had started to develop in his head. Things were looking clearer at long last, and with that he also felt as if he failed you. He has failed to make you feel appreciated as you deserved, and that makes his gut twist in on itself.
“I fail to see why you’d be jealous of Baizhi, even with the time we spent together. Baizhi and I are strictly work colleagues and nothing more. You are the one that gets to be in my presence, sharing stories and desserts after work hours..” Mortefi says out loud, moreso speaking to himself than you, as if trying to figure out your point of view. He wasn’t dismissing your emotions, but he failed to grasp them within his own two hands. He had been so preoccupied with his own work and responsibilities that he had failed to notice the toll it was taking on his relationship with you. His focus had been so singularly on his research, on his partnership with Baizhi, that he had unintentionally neglected the depth of the connection he had with you.
“I do have to apologize” he cuts you off before you can speak. “This.. area is not within my expertise, per se. If I had neglected you, I would’ve liked if you openly communicated this with myself” he offered, and the lighter in his hand feels like it will break apart under pressure. “And while I can’t limit my time with Baizhi, as it is all just work, I can accommodate you as well by spending more time with or around you, if that will help you feel more.. at ease”
There is clarity ringing its bell over your head as he speaks, already offering solutions to this problem you made out of irrational thought. Bless his heart, for all he is cold and aloof he is ten times more kind. Snappy as he is, he means well.
“Mortefi... Mortefi, I am sorry too. I did want to keep this with myself, it shouldn’t have come to this point where you try to resolve my issues by yourself”
At that he scoffed, almost chuckling but no laughter came from him. One hand perches itself on his hip and he looks at you with a look that screams of his desire to see this through.
“Oh, but how can I ignore it now that it is in front of me? No, that will not do. Especially since it is you who we’re talking about. You go ahead now, I’ll think of something until the end of my shift. I’ll give you a call later this evening”
Afterwards your company would leave his presence and the lab, having left with more reason than conflict, and with a mind full anticipation of his words.
And just like clockwork, by the end of his shift he’d give you a call, telling you to come meet him at your favorite dessert place.
Mortefi is special in his way of showing affection..
He is yet to learn his way with words when it comes to sweet nothings, but until then he can take care of you and help you out with work. Whatever helps you see that you, indeed, do matter much to him.

in pursuit of truth and companionship
xiangli yao is a smart, smart man. he has done a lot of growing and maturing in the course of his life, but not so much at once as he did when he met one particular person. see, something he has parsed out for himself is that he need not sever his pursuit of truth from the companionship of others—though it took much more than just personal intuition to learn that lesson.
it started with the old friend of yao’s youth, who, though he is long gone, has left perhaps the deepest impact on the man’s heart. the rover, then, ignited a particular warmth in him which soothed the leftover ache—it was comforting, all-encompassing affection that opened his heart to the kind of companionship he longed for. it was pleasant. yao looked at himself and saw not just an academic, but a human amongst other humans; he felt his heart beating in sync with the rover’s, with mortefi’s, with baizhi’s, with zhezhi’s. he realized he did not want to live in neglect of the softness that he inevitably possessed; he believed there must be a way to both pursue the truth of the world—finding groundbreaking solutions and engineering new technologies to sustain civilization—and also leave room for other people in his heart. there had to be a way. without connection to humanity, scientists would risk losing sight of the real goal.
you offered yao an apple; he declined with a reserved smile. you shrugged and bit into the sweet fruit yourself, humming in delight, swaying your feet, resting your head on xiangli yao’s shoulder. it was quiet, it was good. despite it all—the lament, the imminent destruction of human civilization—somewhere, birds were singing and bugs were thriving; the grass was green under your picnic blanket, and you sat beneath a healthy tree next to someone with whom near anything could be enjoyed. meanwhile, xiangli yao tuned in to the crunch of the apple as you bit into it, and he visualized the waves in the air, visualized your humming and the shuffling rustling bustling of your clothes and the grass and the leaves. the world, in his eyes, seemed so much more alive in your presence.
you were no resonator, but yao liked to imagine you must emit some kind of special frequency. you were too good, too pure. he could see it in his imagination when he looked at you—like an angelic halo of light, enveloping your form with the delicate hand of some otherworldly, divine power. you may not resonate the same way he does, no, but yao was certain that your very existence harmonized with the ebb and flow of solaris iii’s vibrations.
with locked pinkies, yao and his muse sat in silence, savoring the peace and contentment derived from the presence of another soul so alike in nature. it was quiet love, unassuming, forgiving, patient; you were all small smiles and gentle touches, and he was all the same.
yao liked to tie your shoes for you, since you had a lazy streak; as it turns out, carelessly throwing shoestrings into a loose knot is not enough to make it through the day, but you could not be bothered. so it was becoming a challenge for him to tie them in such a way that your rowdiness could not undo the work. and, say, perhaps you had schemed the lazy shoe-tying, so that he would develop such an intimate and domestic habit—but ah, well, some secrets are best kept as they are.
you liked to bring him lunch—for xiangli yao, the man that he was, had a horrible habit of forgetting to eat. with a blindness to time, poor interoceptive awareness, and the pinpoint focus of a laser, he hardly noticed when he grew hungry in the midst of his work; it was like his body was completely incognizant of its own needs. so you took it upon yourself to check in at lunchtime, very forcefully “suggesting” that he eat. as a result, his coworkers had grown very fond of you in all the time you spent around them.
and truly, there were none so taken with xiangli yao as you—his other half, as he liked to call you. he possessed a certain charm, and anyone who met the man could attest to his humble smile and quiet strength, those qualities that drew people in much more than he realized. but none were so fortunate as you to wake up every day and melt over the man all over again. internally, you could not fathom his existence, could not process his love for you, could not cope with the fact that you belonged to each other. all you could do was trace the lines of his handsome face with your hands, studying each groove and blemish, burning the image of his smile into your retinas so you may never part from the warmth you felt upon seeing it. to be away from him felt almost painful at times, if only because his presence alone was soothing and regulating, and perhaps you’d gotten too used to the privilege. he enjoyed teasing you about that, too.
if anything, xiangli yao has found that deep human connection can only serve to further motivate him in his search for truth, certainly not to hold him back, as he previously feared.
with his abilities, he had felt a sense of duty from a young age to put himself to work, to be a leader among the brilliant minds at the forefront of science. he could not be distracted, he could not let anything hinder his progress. he felt he would somewhat fail humanity otherwise—much too big a burden for just one man to bear.
all this time, that fear has clashed with something deep inside of him that could not shake the desire for companionship. he practically tore himself into shreds, afraid it would disservice the progress of humanity for him to do anything other than put his brain to work. but at the same time, his heart was so soft, and he longed so inexplicably much for someone to just see him.
and then, just like that, yao’s innermost wish had been granted. the war waging in his mind, body, and soul finally came to a standstill—he made friends, and he felt wanted for something other than his abilities. he had not felt such a feeling since his youth.
further, he found that having dear companions boosted his mood and health, which in turn benefitted his research. he could no longer remember why he had always believed so adamantly that relationships were distractions, and something to be feared. perhaps it was an idea he gleaned from his father, whether intentional from the man or not.
as it turns out, some of the most profound truths can be found within the human soul. xiangli yao has discovered this to be true just knowing you; he has found it to be true in the crevices of your palm, in the wrinkles of your skin, in the color of your eyes. he has come to know so much more about the world since knowing you. and he finds himself all the more eager to search for answers, knowing he has someone so dear to love and protect in this world.

Alrighty, time for a follow up on my previous request.
So, I'd like to request Baizhi (not "Shinxi" lmao), Jianxin and Chixia in the same scenario as Yangyang and Jinshi, that being with an S/O who is immune to poison. Because it's fun imagining these virtual waifus almost having a heart attack because they think their S/O is gonna die only for them to... not, lol.
Hello there, Anon! Thank you again for clarifying your error, and I'm sorry this took so long to get to. Life hates me, lmao-
Content: Unserious, established relationships, poison consumption, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not proofread))

》BAIZHI

"Very well... the liquids should be ready for testing." Baizhi hummed whilst gazing down on the many vials in great interest. They had been delivered to her personally to check whether or not they were poisonous/harmful, and you just happened to pass by that day. "Testing? Isn't that going to take a while?" You ask with a frown, remembering that you were supposed to go on a little dinner date right after. But Baizhi just nodded with a sigh.
"I'm afraid so... my apologies, I know you were looking forward to our outing." She said before beginning to prepare the work area and putting on some gloves. Turning away for a moment to grab some testing tubes, she didn't hear you slipping off the chair you were resting in and approaching the table.
"That's fine! I have a quicker way to test these anyway." Baizhi raised a brow at your reply, her head turning to you carefully just in time to see you casually gulp down one of the vials. Her mouth opened, eyes widening to tell you to cut it out... but all you did was shake your head as though you've sipped on some strong liquor before giving her a thumbs up.
"One down, three more to go." She watched you with an unreadable expression, as you easily found out that only three of the four were filled with poison. Writing this down, you handed her the paper with a wide grin. "Well? Our date still stands, let's go."
Baizhi blinked until she just sighed and allowed you to drag her off. She honestly was too tired to even bother asking how the hell you did that... but she hoped that you wouldn't mind her conducting some harmless experiments/studies on your unique condition later...

》CHIXIA

You and Chixia were just casually patrolling the area around the city when you bumped into a traveling merchant who was trying to sell you two a mysterious bottle of liquid. You were both 99% sure that it was probably poisoned and tried to wave the man away, yet he didn't stop pestering you.
Sighing in slight annoyance, Chixia crossed her arms with a frown. "Hey now sir! We already said no." She huffed, obviously really irritated with the situation. Giving the man an unimpressed glance, you pointed at the bottle with a tilt of your head.
"If I drink it all in one go, will you leave us alone already?" You asked, as you ignored Chixia's concerned whisper of your name. The merchant had no chance to answer however, when you just snatched the bottle out of his hand, popped the cap off and tilted your head back to drink it all down just as you said you would. Chixia and the merchant were flabbergasted, practically frozen in surprise before the girl finally grabbed your arm in panic. "Hey! What the-" "-Oh... this actually tastes pretty good... You're still getting arrested for attempting to poison us, though." You threw the now empty bottle back to the man who just barely caught it. You should've dropped dead seconds ago and yet, you still stood there as unimpressed as you did before.
"How... what?" Chixia asked, practically speechless, before she let out a sudden laugh at the absurdity of the situation and called for backup to take the defeated man away. "When were you going to tell me that you were able to do THAT?" She was rather excited about this new thing she learned about you and definitely wanted to know every small detail on your way back home.

》JIANXIN

You and Jianxin were meditating somewhere in the mountains together. It was perhaps a rather odd way to have a date, but it fit your girlfriends vision of what a relaxing day should be like. With that said, she eventually handed you a bowl filled with an unfamiliar liquid. You glanced at it curiously, the urge to drink it, making you hold it up to your face in wonder.
Closing her eyes with a wide content smile, she sighed in relief. "This is truly a good way to end the day! Now, this liquid is there to help us relax further and tap into our inner world -" As she spoke, she didn't hear the sound of slow sipping in the background. "In order to do so, however, we have to hold out this bowl of water mixed in with poisonous flowers and recite a prayer." The silence was deafening when you chuckled awkwardly.
"... so uhm... You're not supposed to drink it?" "... Huh?" Cracking an eye open, Jianxin felt her soul leave her body when you casually held out the now empty bowl to her with a sheepish smile. She didn't know what was worse at that moment. The empty bowl that she worked hard on preparing or the fact that you just drank something that could absolutely kill you in a couple of minutes?
"Hey, Hey, don't worry, I won't die from this-" You quickly waved away her concerns before putting down the bowl next to her still full one. "Sorry, I should've waited for you to finish, haha..." The silence stretched on until Jianxin held her chin in thought. "Hm... maybe this is a sign from the spirits..." You chuckled again, alot more relaxed this time, as you were glad to know that she just brushed over that instead of questioning it too much for now...

Can we talk about how he looks at *someone* at the end of some main story mission?
Because oh my fucking god i have so many things to say but don't want to spoil it for others that haven't done the main thing yet.
So, spoilers below the line! Put my name on them cuz they're my screenshots.
I thought he'd die after this cutscene.
I can't deal with how he's looking at Rover here. I'm so rooting for them, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen. No experience in other games from Kuro, so idk if they ever do romancing type stuff.
Just imagine a game like my sweet candy love/obey me with these characters.
I definitely need to start writing WuWa fanfics. My thirst for Calcharo and Jiyan is real. And Baizhi tbh.
Guess i need a new blog for that: @jiyansfloppyspear

I recently started playing Wuthering Waves and I find it hilarious how some of the dialogue with Yangyang is just slight teasing, especially when you can pretend that you’re in so much pain that leaves her so worried 😭😭
I could imagine this as a way to catch her attention immediately even if your groans of pain sounds so fake as hell ☠️
That heart wrenching look that tells you she was gonna get medicine only to realize you just wanted her attention for cuddles or kisses🥺
GOD I LVOE HER SO MICH
you are making me regret not choosing that option, anon /j
NO BECAUSE I SEE YANGYANG AS A VERY CARING LOVER!!
even the slightest cough you let out will make yangyang gasp and go: “baby? is that a cough I hear? aRE YOU OKAY? DO YOU NEED MEDICINE? DO WE HAVE TO GO TO BAIZHI? DO WE—”
yes, she panics in small. her voice is just so gentle! you’ll have to reassure her that you’re fine and you just needed to let that out for.. some reason. expect her to hear her sigh in relief.
but on days when she’s busy—since she’s an outrider of the midnight rangers—you’d have to let those fake ass groans of pain to try and get her attention...
...and you succeeded.
she’s already all over you, placing her hands on your body and asks you if this place hurts, or this area, or that area of your body— you’d be trying your hardest not to laugh or else she’d find out that you’re just faking your groans of pain. her eyebrows would furrow when she sees the slightest smile on your face. she would say:
“is there something funny, y/n?”
uh oh.
“what? uhm— n-no, no! n-nothing at all, i-it just— oh, the pain..!” you groaned once more. you turned to look at yangyang, only to see her looking at you with a deadpanned expression. you then let out a small chuckle of nervousness.
“cut the act, y/n. I know you’re fine.” she sighs. she saw right through you. “if you wanted my attention, you would’ve just said so. come on,” she gently said before carrying you bridal style, making you squeak.
“oh! uh, am I.. going to get punished? h-heheh..” you nervously asked as yangyang started to walk back home with you in her arms.
“...we’ll see, darling.”
I’ll leave the rest for you to imagine <3

Mortefi x Reader

Few can handle Mortefi's sarcastic nature when he is irritated. Well, that was recently, until a new employee came to the Academy. The girl did not work in Mortefi's field, she was close to Baizhi, since she was essentially a forensic scientist and worked at the scene of the crime with Tacet Discord's, but also resorted to the opinion of other researchers when necessary.
It will not be a secret that when the man with scarlet hair is irritated, he often responds with metaphors and literary allusions preferred by the elite of the New Federation, along with the latest Huanglong slang. The new employee also fell victim to his irritation, but imagine the surprise of everyone, and even Mortefi himself, when she responded to his sarcastic words with a joke. She was not offended, did not get angry, she just joked, put Mortefi in an awkward position and demanded an answer to the question of what needed her investigation. That's when everyone realized that working at the Academy would become much more interesting.
- To be rude to me is a bad omen, - Mortefi once said to a girl.
- And we are not afraid of hamsters, - after the girl's answer, some passing researchers almost laughed out loud, but for their own good they shut up so as not to fall under Mortefi's hot hand.
Here is another case that happened by pure chance, however, Xiangli Yao and Baizhi began to suspect that the relationship between these two was somehow too inappropriate for two colleagues. Perhaps it all started when Mortefi accidentally spilled his coffee on the girl's clothes. In irritation, he grabbed the girl and dragged her towards the women's toilet.
- Why do you need to go to the women's restroom? - the girl asked.
- Not me, but you. Don't you want to change? - the man stopped and crossed his arms over his chest.
- I can do it in the hallway, - the girl expected the man to say: "You're shameless, you can't do that," but imagine the girl's surprise when he said "Go ahead." The girl didn't lose her composure either and began to take off her robe, and then her blouse. Mortefi's face at that moment became the same shade as his hair.
- Stop! - the man grabbed the girl to cover her dignity. No matter how you look at it, this situation embarrassed him greatly.
While the man was seething with anger and embarrassment, the girl just laughed. Not far from them stood Xiangli Yao and Baizhi, who were watching this whole situation.
- How long do you think it will take them to become a couple? - asked Baizhi.
- Knowing Mortefi, how can he deny his feelings for someone, I would say at least a year, - answered Xiangli Yao.
And there were many such cases, I can tell you about them without stopping, because every day the book of fun of these two, is filled and filled.
- Maybe turn on some music? What do you like? - asked the girl looking at the player that was standing in the man's office.
- Silence.
- Me too.
- It's noticeable on you.
But probably the most memorable memory was when the girl broke through the window into Mortefi's house and urgently called him to work, since he did not answer the phone, and did not react to the knock on the door.
- Are you all right? - the girl asked as if nothing had happened.
- Relatively, you make me shudder, - Mortefi answered with a heavy sigh. And it was surprising that he was not angry at such a prank, because if someone else had done it, he would have immediately incinerated him.
- I hope, not from desire.
- More from horror. How did you get into my house, evil spirit on a broom? - at some point, the man no longer tried to hide the fact that they considered this unbearable girl a witch.
- Why "evil spirit on a broom" right away? - the girl asked plaintively.
- Sometimes you speak so plaintively that my heart sank, - Mortefi said, trying to dramatize.
-Really?
-No, of course not. It's just annoying. Let's go, otherwise we'll be late.
This was probably the turning point when the man fell in love with the extraordinary personality of this girl. Frequent playful squabbles, a lunch break over a cup of tea with a piece of pie or cake that Mortefi had prepared, but decided to share with the girl, consultations on various research issues, although this was not the girl's area of work and it was unlikely that her opinion would help him, but he always sought her approval.
- Murr-Murr.
- Are you having an exacerbation? - the man asked, sighing heavily. - Although, autumn is already over... So it's chronic? Although why am I asking. You can drive me crazy, evil spirits on a broom. And why did you do it?
- To seduce you, - the girl grinned.
- No need, I'm afraid, - Mortefi answered mockingly. - Don't do anything bad to me. I beg you.
Probably no one knew when they started behaving like a couple. Although what can you do? They themselves didn’t know when they became a couple, everything just became so ordinary that they ended up living together, working together, doing absolutely everything together.
- You’ll see, I’ll give birth to a girl with the same character, you’ll forget about the quiet days altogether, - the insidious wife threatened her current husband.
- God forbid, what kind of threats are these? - the husband asked mockingly.
- Like this, I’m pregnant.
At the very moment when the woman said this, the man’s head was loaded with the realization of what was said.
- Are you kidding?
- No, quite, very seriously.
- And she kept her promise...
- What? - the wife looked at her husband in bewilderment.
- Do you remember how you threatened to give birth to your second copy, so that I could not live in peace? You kept your promise after all, the devil, - said the man, watching his six-year-old daughter doing mischief with the neighboring children.

author's note
a continuation to this, but can be read alone. still testing. a drabble
synopsis: baizhi is certain she wishes for you; but not in the way the world would expect
wuthering waves! baizhi x fem! reader
more under the wubbaboo!!

Baizhi does not know how she wants you in her life. But she knows she wishes to see you more than others, she knows that when she turns to her side, she imagines you walking alongside her.
These feelings are all very new to her.
She doesn't imagine you to do what couples in Jinzhou do. She doesn't imagine the fevrent kisses and the smiles in between, nor does she long for long nights of passion. Baizhi cares not for such gestures.
But she cares to hold your hand: to reach out when you do walk alongside her. When she wakes, she thinks of you, and when her research goes well, she hopes for you to send a compliment her way. And when hope flickers within her heart, she hopes that you feel the joy as well.
Yet the painful longing in her heart and the blooming wishes never seem to fit into the land under the rest of the vast blue sky.
"It's ok." You sat beside her as she busied herself with the data in front of her. Your words spilled out of your mouth anyways, resonating within the empty lab, "there's nothing wrong with that."
"Your love is perfect as is, Baizhi."
The researcher's blank face turned to you, and to an outsider, it may seem as though she did not care for what you were saying. But to you who was right in front of her; to you who she was open with— you see the little furrow in her brows melt away and the glimmer of relief in her dark eyes.
"Is. . . that so?" A pensive ask, a certain response, "Mm, of course."
Baizhi cares not for passionate intimacy— but she cares for you all the same.

Your little things... - Part 1 - WuWa Characters (separated)

Your little things... - Part 1 - WuWa Characters
malereader x Jiyan/male!Rover/Baizhi (separated), fluff; just some things that you often do to your partner and they are high over heels for it. Habits. Mainly related to their appearance; mxm or mxg; Part 2 (Brant, Calcharo, YangYang); warning! not 100% family-friendly;
Jiyan
Being Jiyan's boyfriend, you couldn't ignore his earrings. Those tassels were so tempting… You just had to touch them. Even though you were afraid of his reaction.
And when you did it once, you couldn't stop afterwards. You were enjoying yourself like a little kid who just found a new toy.
Most often it happens, when Jiyan (whether sitting or lying down) lays his head on your chest and his jewelry is within reach of your hands. Theoretically, Jiyan should feel calm and completely safe in your presence, but it's not really the case with his earrings. I mean, after many times he got used to your "harassment", but at least not at the beginning of your journey.
At first, without any drastic movements, you slowly bring your hand closer. Your fingertips gently brush his neck, triggering a wave of shivers as he closes his eyes tighter. You wrap your free hand around his body and start to softly caress his exposed cheek. Drawing great attention to his sharpened jaw.
When Jiyan loses his guard and starts to drift off, you firmly grasp his earring. Teal tassels tickle your hand nicely. And your playing has no end.
At the beginning, Jiyan wasn't happy with your idea. Especially when you made a joke and compared his earrings to decorations that tie up the curtains. He even furrowed his eyebrows in a fake offense. Maybe because their meaning was deeper than you thought.
But, in the end, you didn't mean any harm and your behavior was purely out of admiration. When he saw how much fun you were having with such a simple activity, he couldn't take it away from you.
When you're stressed, bored, or your head is busy with too many thoughts, Jiyan purposely leans towards you. He angles his head so it falls into your field of vision, which allows you to involuntarily raise your hand and engage yourself in play.
During your first encounter with his green dragon you were truly mesmerized. Jiyan saw that too.
Therefore, from then on, when he releases his energy, that wraps around his arm, he intertwines his hands with you and passes his impulse on. Little dragon begins to joyfully surround your body. In close contact teasing you with a tiny warm sparks, as if conveying Jiyan's deep feelings.
Man looks at it embarrassed, unable to quite control it, especially with the increasing distance. At that time, he often turns his face away, unable to look at it, as his cheeks cover themselves with a slight raspberry blush.
Whole process leaves a hint of refreshment. In the end, this dragon's path ultimately involves feeling of a gentle, cool and oh-so-pleasant breeze of wind.
Rover
When making a stop, you often crouch down. Whether it's for a little rest or tying your shoelaces. You then glance at your company from below. For them, this sight isn't too surprising. They are used to your lazy approach. However, it's only what you do at the very end which brings them into pure awe.
When it's time to resume your walk, you grab your boyfriend's right hand with a great confidence. Stopping him in his tracks and causing him to turn towards you once again. You change your position and get down on one knee. Bring his hand closer to your lips and, while standing up, with a steady movement, place a tender kiss on his tacet mark.
It doesn't matter if you are alone or have an audience. You do it all the time. It's almost like your little routine.
At the first time, Rover was truly shocked. His eyes widened and his mouth slightly opened. He didn't even know what to say. But nowadays he always looks at you with a smile and slight blush, appreciating your gesture that symbolizes love and devotion.
Not gonna lie. You are down bad for this straps on his thigh that hold a bag on his leg. The longer you know each other the more your gaze drops downward. You do this in passing time when attention of others is occupied with some activity. You try not to show it, but you can't help it. Your boyfriend is just so hot and you are really proud to be able to call him yours. Sometimes you have to bite your lower lip to stop yourself from thinking further. Thankfully, you quickly shake off from your trance and come back to reality.
Especially when Rover turns towards you and calls your name with an innocent voice, wanting to ask for your opinion.
At the mere sight of this you melt. He is just so adorable. You immediately beat yourself up for all of your previous wrong thoughts.
But when you are alone, in a closed room, situation takes a completely different turn.
In split seconds you find yourself between his legs. Rover leans against the wall or clings to a desk top, tilting his head back with his eyes closed.
He throws his right leg over your shoulder as you slide your fingers under his straps. Pulling them even tighter and pressing them even further into his thigh.
Baizhi
When you first saw the creature that accompanies Baizhi you were slightly startled. After all, it's not every day that some unknown creature, almost twice of your partner size, jumps out at you in the middle of town.
At some point, your concerns turned into appreciation. Fact, that Baizhi always has someone with her to help and rescue her, even when you can't be around, is soothing for your nerves.
Besides, thanks to You'tan, you could even call yourself a father. Both you and Baizhi take care of this (not so little) creature. And it repays you with the same. Healing you in time of need. It took You'tan a long time to accept you and trust you. Even longer than Baizhi. But now, You'tan seeks help from you by itself and lets you know when Baizhi is in trouble.
In addition, You'tan often lets you pet them. That is, not only "let" you. Rather demands it. You'tan starts playing with you on its own, puts its head under your hand and starts poking. Even when you have better things to do or are too tired to pamper the creature. You'tan won't give up until you get to the point. And if you ever decide to not obey its commands it will happily complain about you to Baizhi, striking an offended pose in front of her.
You are really ashamed about your… not so pure actions, but what can you do about them?
And considering that they don't intend to lead to anything more, then there's probably nothing wrong with them..., right?
Baizhi's tacet mark is just begging to be touched. After all, cut in her dress reveals it perfectly.
It's as if your girlfriend is sending you a silent invitation. Especially when she activates her power and brushes her thigh on her own. You can't help yourself.
You don't know if you can call yourself possesive. But you really enjoy showing others that Baizhi is yours. Just like you are hers. And that's why, her tacet mark is a permanent location of your hand. Especially when you sit next to each other.
Baizhi never particularly reacts to this. She is now quite an older woman that developed a rather calm approach to life over many years of living. And she definitely isn't someone who would openly share her feelings in public.
In reality, however, she has a pack of butterflies joyfully dancing in her stomach. Your hand just radiates such a pleasant warmth…
after I saw Jiyan's earings I just had to write that ngl and when doing so I only looked at them as fashion choice. although i also did some internet research after. just to be safe. and... lesson time! it turns out that tassel earrings by some people can be interpreted as "amulet against evil" or religious symbol or they can also represent social status of a person. so maybe one of that is also a case in jiyan's life

Thanks to @unrealistic-ideas-for-writers's prompts I have something more about Jiahui finally!! (Thanks again dude I loved answering these)
.
- First experience with Resonance ability outside of whatever triggered its existence (very sensation focused! If it’s fire, maybe it was anger or pure joy that caused her hands to heat or sparks to fly!)
Well havoc is a quite peculiar element, even more so than spectro, being essentially destruction/annihilation. This makes it as interesting as difficult to figure out. What I’ve seen so far with all the other havoc characters in the game is that they have some sort of drawback or negative symptoms from using their forte (like Danjin draining her own hp and her frequencies matching those of blood, or Camellya and Rover’s idle animations). So I thought for starter to have Jiahui also experience some form of pain or fatigue from making use of her forte too much or too long (not in a hypothetical kit (which I’m also working on bc I’m that normal about my ocs), more like in lore).
While she doesn’t have too high a risk of overclocking, she does experience some mood swings, that highly affect her forte and for this regular check-ups and counseling with a therapist are required. Whenever she experiences highly emotional states (mostly negative) her brain feels foggy, and indeed a purplish fog seems to surround her and her tacet mark seems to be more active (you know how they kinda move, like that) and because of that she experiences frequents headaches and migraines.
- first combat experience? Did she have training???
Well as I mentioned in her backstory she was trained by her mother, so she can fight quite well. I think her mother, obviously caring more about her daughter’s safety than strength, taught her to dodge, evade and avoid fighting whenever possible, so I see her as a very agile and quick fighter. (Indeed for a potential kit I was thinking of making her primarily for quick-swap, double-dps teams)
Other than that first time (again mentioned in the backstory), which I barely would count as a fight on her side, I’d say her first actual encounter with the TDs that lead her to fight went pretty smoothly. I imagine it being once again in a cave or ruin of some sort, probably some small TDs she encountered on the way (like Tick Tack, Snip Snap and the sort). She was probably scared at first (her age at this point is no more than 14 so she’s totally still a kid), but managed to keep calm and remember her mother’s teachings. Also she didn’t have a forte then, so her fighting style probably changed with that, though the base stayed the same.
- does she know other resonators in her resonance category??? How do their abilities differ???
Help is resonance category the attribute or class??? I barely remember the actual terminology sorry, I think you’re talking about the class?? If I got it wrong and it was actually the attribute you can ask again obv lol
So she’s a mutant resonator (which I renamed the “trauma resonators”) and I noticed that all the other playable characters affiliated with the Huaxu Academy (Baizhi, Mortefi and Xiangli Yao) are also mutant resonator, so this is fun, I didn’t do it on purpose. But anyways that means she personally knows other resonators of the same class as her
I just finished reading their forte report, and for what I saw Mortefi is the only one with high risk of overclocking and who actually has previously recorded episodes, while Baizhi and Xiangli Yao do not and have pretty high stability with low risk of overclocking. That I guess sets her a bit apart, since she doesn’t currently have a high risk of overclocking but has been very close to an episode, and has those mood swings. I think she eventually will overclock, and perhaps even cause some incident or something.
Also (this one I probably didn’t mention anywhere and only exist in my mind) the pink-ish streaks in her hair only appeared after her awakening, before that her hair was completely black. So she did have some physical modifications, like Mortefi’s red scale-like things, or Xiangli Yao’s prosthetic (since it kinda became part of him and is where his tacet mark is located I’d consider this a body modification), (I wouldn’t include Baizhi in the body modification part bc You’tan isn’t technically part of her yk).
.
Dude thanks again for the prompts these were amazing and helped me a lot!!
If you (or anyone else) have any other question/prompts or literally anything send them my way!!!

so how i see forte exam reports is likely a safety/tracking sort of system in the world of wuwa.
if you're going somewhere, say a place extremely dry and in the center of a drought, you would not want to bring a fusion resonator with you as the risk of fire is now significantly increased by environmental factors.
now, i am not sure what quay would need exactly to see mortefi's forte exam, but i feel that should we say, quay is planning a trip, mortefi's voice lines have alluded that with enough rapport, he's more than happy to help assist (even if you are "dragging him out of his lab for this") if he likes you, and he's happy to develop anything you're looking for. i imagine that quay would, out of habit of working (occasionally) with some resonators to get to more precarious areas after attempts on his own did not succeed, would likely do a quick double check of the environment and perhaps, hesitantly, give mortefi's report a glance to ensure he isn't accidentally placing mortefi somewhere that might be putting them both at disadvantage.
i feel like with the terminals, when you're looking for available guides and resonators, there's got to be a way to find them in a quick pinch (especially since resonators are probably often keeping tabs on each other, and how patrol workers like Chixia are able to respond to things quickly to assist other resonators in the nearby area)
the only exception i imagine would be those like aalto and yinlin, who work rather within their own spaces and keep low, and you'd need some very specific information to be able to get to them.
so even if he isn't looking for himself, there's a chance that working with another resonator that isn't mortefi specifically, someone knows.
the way i see resonators working around are basically like "on-call military", especially in a place that, although is at peace, having resonator abilities puts you at advantage in securing areas quickly and keeping Tacet Discords at bay even just fractions of a second long enough for the rangers and nearby resonators to get there and assist.
not to mention, baizhi and yao also seem to share in mortefi's space on occasion (perhaps much to the dismay of mortefi, who although does not necessarily see eye-to-eye with yao, does recognize and see them as colleagues worth his time and space as the differing eyes can help in solving problems he runs into)
you can have baizhi bring something up just offhandedly about mortefi's prior experiences when quay is preparing for leave or overhears her mentioning something about mortefi's mood lately and expressing her concern for him but not wishing to draw his ire.
xiangli yao briefly visiting and perhaps in a slight rush when he himself is planning a trip requiring mortefi's help, is pulled away and leaves the medical information out nearby.
not wanting to pry, being worried for mortefi's health, concern, curiosity, absently skimming the medical record not thinking much else of it, accidentally catching the words of the forte exam not realizing what he was holding ...
a number of reasons quay may be inclined to look at a brief summary of his forte, either by planning or coincidence, i imagine other resonators would likely have this information readily available in some manner purely on the fact that if you need assistance, knowing who to call or who is nearby is crucial, and knowing what they can do will reduce the dangers you and others are exposed to, and by knowing their fortes, ensures you can work effectively with them to get a job done.
All right, fellow WuWa OC makers and/or writers... I've had a ficlet idea for months but I'm running into a pretty substantial snag in terms of character motivations/plot.
Quay needs a reason to read Mortefi's forte examination report.
I've loosely gathered from the information available about resonators and forte diagnostics that Solaris-3 probably does not have anything like HIPAA that would make these classified documents, i.e. they're probably available somewhere publicly or at least if you know the right steps to access them. (Like I imagine there's probably a way someone can either look them up or have them looked up by a professional, for public safety reasons.)
The issue is that since he's so shy and unassuming he normally would avoid doing so for fear of prying, Quay probably wouldn't willingly read Mortefi's exam report even if he got the chance to. So he'd need a pretty strong motivator... he'd probably more easily fold to a negative stimulus, like being worried about something happening if he didn't have this information.
(For background, I don't know how much Quay knows about resonators in general, but I feel like it's not much more than whatever the public baseline is. He's not a resonator himself, and marine bio is more his thing 🤣 )
Alternatively, Quay could somehow glean the information in the report on accident, but I'm not sure how that would work from a technical standpoint. Maybe overhearing someone else talk about it? (though it'd have to be in quite some detail)
Ideas/thoughts/headcanons/wild suggestions? 🤔🤔🤔
#i guess it wouldn't technically be PAPERwork#it's almost definitely digitally archived#the point stands#paperwork shmaper work at the end of the day are we just too concerned or too curious for our own good as resonators

For my beloved moot @yupuffin (I'm sorry I deleted your ask dude)
So I hope I remember correctly you were asking about first Jiahui visiting Yao at the academy just because, and if she'd ever met Quay in such occasion and if she'd ever tried his pastries
So I had already started answering this
With Jiahui working at the Academy most of the time I doubt she'd go there just because. Her free days are as cherished as they are rare. So she usually spends them outside of Jinzhou walking around and relaxing.
That plus you mentioning Quay going first thing in the morning and Jiahui's tendency to arrive just a few seconds before it's considered late... I doubt they'd meet in such conditions especially if Quay leaves quickly
That being said I can see a few instances in which my girl would be going to the academy during her free days. First of all if she went out and managed to find some samples or something, she'd probably drop by to give them to whoever might need them (say give Baizhi some TD cores so she doesn't have to go out to get them, give Yao some peculiar mechanism she found in a ruin... And so on)
In the chance that Quay goes to the Academy in the afternoon (you mentioned tea time with Mortefi) they would definitely meet. And my girl would totally enjoy the sweets that come with the visits
I like to think that she already kinda knew of him, or at least of his existence
Maybe noticing Mortefi a bit less brooding and getting to know of the guy with blue hair that brings pastries and seems to soften the broody researcher
Then the beautiful comment of Havoc Cube and Mortequay existing while Mortefi and Yao have that relationship
I can imagine after Jiahui and Yao finally get together and Jiahui introduces them to her parents
"so this is my boyfriend Yao. And this is Yao's something Mortefi. And this is Mortefi's boyfriend Quay"
Lol the way we got so invested in these two couples though omg
I'm literally craving content and crying bc I'm the one that has to make it
But at least ik it's exactly the content I want, that's a good side
(hope I answered everything???? sorry again for the mess lol)

There we go, finally some Jiahui voice lines!
Thanks again @unrealistic-ideas-for-writers for pushing me to write for her!
--
Self introduction: name's Jiahui, researcher at the Huaxu Academy and collaborator of the Pioneer Association. If you find any ruins or something worth exploring just give me a call and I'll be more than happy to check it out for you!
.
Ideals: as researchers we should not get stuck on research for research's sake. As interesting as it can be, we're ultimately working for people's safety, and our efforts should reflect that goal.
.
Hobbies: a nice walk in the wild is all I need to recharge after a stressful day... And if I come along some ruins to explore all the better!
.
Troubles: despite the technological level of this prosthetic, it still takes a toll to walk on it all day, especially if I'm exploring... I try to be mindful and take breaks when needed, but I can get a bit in my head when I'm excited and forget until it's too late and it actually starts hurting
.
About Baizhi: though our respective fields of research wouldn't normally bring us to collaborate, we've worked together quite a few times. She's precise, clean and efficient, and she's one of the very few at the Academy that doesn't shy away at the idea of some field work, really the perfect research partner!
.
About Xiangli Yao: our common interest on the Court of Savantae has brought us to work together quite often, even outside of the lab. Though people sometimes ostracize him as being a special genius or something, he's actually really easy to get along!
.
About Mortefi: Mortefi? Oh yes, he's actually the one who projected my latest prosthetic! Quite an impressive work, don't you think? I actually just asked him to check my old one, and see if he could alter the suspension... Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the Academy the next day to find a shiny new prosthetic waiting for me!
.
About Verina: I often run into Verina during my expeditions. She's helped me a few times too, her forte was really interesting to research, it even resonated with some samples of ancient plants we found in a ruin a while ago! I kinda felt bad about making her work, so I made sure to bring her out for lunch that day!
.
About Zhezhi: I only met her a few years ago, when I commissioned her a painting to gift my parents on their anniversary. I brought her some pictures I took of important places they travelled to, and she managed to make a true masterpiece! Ever since, she's asked me for pictures for references quite a few times... She's always so shy about it, no matter how many times I tell her it's no problem since I take the pictures anyway!
.
Favorite food: living in Taouyuan my parents and I would always spend the evening together on the Moon Chase Festival, and one of my favorite memories of it are the plumpcakes! Aah we'd eat so many of them I couldn't stand the thought of one until the next year...
.
Least favorite food: I'm not really a picky eater... But I remember my mom giving me some fish and angelica soup when I was sick as a kid and... let's say I haven't tried it since
--
Aaaand that's it for now, I couldn't think of anything else on the spot
If you wanna know anything else about her please ask ahead I love rambling about my OCs
#writing shit ig#wuthering waves#wuwa#my ocs ig#wuwa oc#I've grown attached to another oc yay#jiahui
