Exactly one year ago Dream made this tweet:
Tumblr media
In honour of this tweet’s anniversary, I wanted to reminisce on the journey of the Dream team :]
It all started nearly 10 years ago, in 2012 when an 11 year old Sapnap had messaged asking for a friend to join his Skype teams, and with a ‘123’ reply on a long gone Minecraft server chat by 13 year old Dream, the beginning of their friendship was formed. Before starting YouTube there was a point in time where Dream had considered quitting the internet, Sapnap had promised him that he would follow him wherever he went, now Sapnap has 4 million subscribers and a couple of days ago tweeted his 8 month anniversary tweet of moving in with his best friend :)

In 2016 Dream had an idea for a Minecraft server and wanted to hire someone from a developer site to help him code it, that person happened to be George. George didn’t end up coding for Dream but this event triggered Dream learning how to code. Dream ended up becoming a developer and joined Bad’s Minecraft server, the same server where he met George again, who at the time was also a developer there. Dream and George almost missed their chance to meet but fate gave them another opportunity. Before meeting Dream, George tried YouTube multiple times but it didn’t work out, Dream was the reason he gave YouTube another go “what made me come back for the third time was Dream” and now he is about to hit 10 million subscribers. From discussing one of Dream’s first videos whilst walking his dog on a random day in 2019, to now planning a Dream team Christmas where George can finally meet and live with his best friends after being separated by 4,386 miles and a pandemic :]
Dream started his journey by asking his best friends to come with him, and they followed him with full trust in their hearts. He helped them come up with their names and to this day continues to lead them, doing everything to help them succeed. Dream comes up with video ideas, he helps with the coding, directs the thumbnails and titles, makes lists of things to buy if needed. He has added them both to his merch company, joins most of their streams, if not you’ll rarely miss him in the list of viewers, he’ll encourage people to subscribe and follow, will gift subs or donate, and is one of the first subscribers to their channels :]
George and Sapnap have always been with Dream, they’re in all of his videos, help him with the coding and making of his thumbnails, used to stay up with him countless hours and many nights during his speedrunning record attempts, wholeheartedly support his music and all his endeavours, are the first to come to his defence, and his refuge to take his mind off his worries. Dream has used words like ‘brother’ and ‘partner’ to describe them and said how he spends most of his time with them and can go to them for anything.

In the words of Dream “there are some people that if you meet, you are just bound to be friends - I’d consider that like soulmates” :]
For those interested, below are some of the statistics of the Dream team over the past year since the tweet was made ^^
George: coming up on 3 million YouTube subscribers, 700K Twitch followers
George: coming up on 3 million YouTube subscribers, 700K Twitch followers
Sapnap: 1 million YouTube subscribers, 400K Twitch followers
That period of time was a significant period for all of them. Dream was coming up to the big 10 million subscribers, George was about to hit 3 mil (the milestone he recently said he felt like his channel was ‘really big’ once he hit it), and Sapnap had just hit 1 million a couple days prior :]
As of today, exactly one year after Dream made that tweet, here are the statistics for the main channels:
Dream: 26 million YouTube subscribers, 5+ million Twitch followers
George: 9 million YouTube subscribers, 4+ million Twitch followers
Sapnap: 4 million YouTube subscribers, 2+ million Twitch followers
If we calculate the growth over a year we have:
Dream: +17 million YouTube subscribers, +4 million Twitch followers
George: +6 million YouTube subscribers, +3 million Twitch followers
Sapnap: +3 million YouTube subscribers, +2 million Twitch followers
This isn’t even taking into account their other YouTube channels, Twitch alts, or their immense presence in social media platforms like Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram :]
