BRIEF ONE.

To obtain a full understanding for Bacardi, I felt it is important to research into the flavours of the rum that they manufacture. This will help me understand what type of aroma they go for, and the different drink combinations that can be produced.

BACARDÍ CARTA BLANCA.

Created in 1862, Bacardí Carta Blanca was created to rewrite the typical harsh, crude and unrefined taste of rum. It contains distinctive vanilla and almond notes, which have been developed in white oak barrels, and “shaped through a secret blend of charcoal”, for its smoothness. 

Perfect Serving - Mojito.

BACARDÍ CARTA ORO.

Contains rich flavours, and has a golden complexion which was been developed in toasted oak barrels, with its mellow character that has been shaped through a secret blend of charcoals. It has a rich vanilla, buttery caramel, toasted almond and sweet banana notes. It also has the warm zest of an orange peal, with a light tasting oaky finish.

Perfect Serving - Original Cuba Libre (rum&coke).

BACARDÍ CARTA NEGRA.

Bacardí Carta Negra is a medium-bodied black rum, with sweet, tropical fruit, buttery caramel and vanilla notes. Which give way to a smokey liquorice and molasses flavouring. 

Perfect Serving - As a shot, or with coffee liqueur.

BACARDÍ CARTA FUEGO.

Fuego, the newsiest rum to be added to Bacardí’s collection (as previously researched), it has a bold, smooth taste capturing tropical flavours and spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and vanilla; with a hint of smokiness.

Perfect Serving - As a shot, or with coke.

BACARDÍ OCHO.

Produced in 1862, Bacardí Ocho is known as the rum preserved for special occasions, it is one of the oldest private rum blends in the world. Each batch is aged for a minimum of 8 years, which gives its refined flavour of prune, apricot, nutmeg and vanilla.

Perfect Serving - On its own, or as a base for cocktails such as the Old Cuban or Rum Old Fashioned. 

BACARDÍ CLASSIC COCKTAILS.

Bacardí have released two pre-mixed cocktails, ready to be served straight from the bottle. These include their classic Mojito, and a Piña Colada option. All it instructs you to do is to add some ice to a glass and pour the mixture, with appropriate garnish for the drinks!

BRIEF ONE.

“Bacardí Carta Fuego is a red spiced rum drink made with rum aged for a minium of one year in torched oak barrels, then shaped through charcoals and finally mixed with a secret blend of flavours and spices for a bold yet smooth flavour.”

In 2015 Bacardí launched a new rum, which they named Bacardí Fuego. It has been created as the first rum that you can shot, with the addition of a few shots of tabasco sauce. Alongside this, they ran the campaign #FuegoFace, where they encouraged people to video / take a photo of their face after having a shot of the rum, which would then have the possibility to be showcased across their social media platforms and advertisements. 

Bacardí also created an app for this, whereby the user spins the wheel, taps the screen to stop it and then this dictates how many drops of tabasco sauce you should add to the shot. I imagine the app is designed to be used during a party-type environment, to add a little bit of extra fun to drinking the rum. It is a good idea for an app, and a nice way to get people involved with drinking the rum, however I feel it is a little basic - there is simply only the stages shown below within the app, therefore I feel there needed to be another level to it / some more games that the consumer can use.
