Babis Anagnostopoulos
Babis Anagnostopoulos, 33, initially claimed that his wife Caroline Crouch, 20, had been killed during an invasion of the couple’s home near Athens, Greece. on May 11, 2021.
Ms Crouch, a British national who grew up in Greece, was found murdered in a bedroom after her husband reported the crime to the police. The 33-year-old helicopter pilot and flight instructor made a number of statements hours after the killing, telling reporters they had been tied up by robbers who broke into their home in Glyka Nera.
He then told police that Caroline had been tortured and murdered by thieves who broke into their home and also killed their pet dog and that their baby daughter had been placed next to the body of her dead mother.
Anagnostopoulos maintained this story for nearly a month until police evidence against him was presented. Evidence obtained from Caronline’s smartwatch revealed she was asleep before a terrifying six-minute struggle after which her heart flatlined. This also meant the times that Anagnostopoulos had stated didn’t match up to the time Crouch died.
Tracking data from Anagnostopoulos home also showed him moving from the attic to the basement of the house and back again, despite claiming to have spent all night tied to the bed.
Data from a security camera at the home also showed its memory card had been removed at 1.20am - again, hours before the alleged break-in took place.
Speaking to state TV in Greece, investigator Nikos Rigas said Anagnostopoulos had “tried to create a crime scene...that looked convincing”.
“The dog was killed, and his baby was placed next to the body of the murdered mother,” Rigas said.
Anagnostopoulos finally confessed to killing his wife during eight hours of police interrogation. He admitted smothering her during a fight at their home in the early hours of May 11.
In the pilot’s grovelling admission, he said: “‘I tied myself up. I did everything because when I realised I killed her, I thought of my child,”
He confessed he had been fighting with Caroline for some time and they were fighting that night, exchanging heated text messages while he was on the ground floor and she was in the attic,”
The investigator said that when Caroline texted her husband that he was “stupid,” he lost his “cool”
“He disabled the home’s surveillance camera, discarding its memory card, before charging up to the attic where he had another heated argument with Caroline, pushing her onto a bed there, and smothering her to death,” the police officer added.

Femicide, or the killing of women by men, is a worldwide phenomenon, but the 12 femicide cases recorded in the first nine months of 2021 in Greece is a mind-blowing number.
Last May, the Greek public was obsessed with, and eventually outraged by, Caroline Crouch ‘s murder at the hands of her husband, confessed wife killer Babis Anagnostopoulos.
The Crouch femicide appears to demonstrate a system of collateral damage and light sentencing for men who kill their wives. It is also a consequence of a society that not only tolerates violence in general, but also appears to still carry patriarchal, anachronistic ideas about a woman’s place in society.

What do you think about the Caroline Couch murder? Something is so weird about it.
Tw:Murder
I have and something stinks to me
A couple of links for anyone not familiar with the case.
Sky News
Daily Mail
At 5am on Tuesday, 11th May burglars broke into the home of Caroline Crouch (aged 20), her airline pilot husband Charalambos ‘Babis’ Anagnostopoulos (aged 32) and their 11 month old daughter Lydia. They broke the security cameras, hung the family dog from the staircase and then tied up Caroline and Babis. Caroline was tortured and interrogated for an hour as the burglars tried to find out where valuables were. They were unsuccessful and eventually strangled her i front of her baby daughter, before fleeing with between £10-30k worth of cash and jewellery (the amount varies depending on which media source you read). I should point out that the burglars had guns. The husband was the only witness.
Several things are so strange to me about this case:
- Why would the burglars waste their time interrogating Caroline for an hour when they could just ransack the house like ‘normal’ criminals would? Anyone could’ve turned up at the house in that time or a passer by could’ve heard something. The more time you spend at a crime scene the more you risk being caught.
- The burglars were supposedly yelling at Caroline inbroken Greek (possibly Albanian). I have yet to look at the house and surrounding houses on Google maps but how wouldn’t the neighbour hear yelling at 5am; it’s very unusual.
- If they had guns why not just shoot Caroline? Strangulation is a crime of passion.
- How did they know where the security cameras were? If they’d been spying on the house for a few days to work out where they were, how did no one see anything? From what I’ve read, it was a small town and close community so a stranger or new arrival would stand out.
- £10-30k doesn’t seem much to burgle and murder someone for
- Why only torture the wife and leave the husband unharmed? He’s a witness and would probably know where the valuables are as well. Every case I’ve read where the wife is injured/murdered and the husband left unharmed has turned out to be a murder for hire arranged by the husband.
- I’ve read that Caroline and Babis have been together since she was 16. What normal 28 year old would pursue a teenager? Something seems so odd.
- I’ve watched a couple of interviews and Babis seems strangely calm for someone who has just lost his wife, mother of his child, and been through such a traumatic experience.
Personally I think it was a murder for hire by the husband. He killed her and had to concoct this story to try and make it all make sense. I’m not sure why he killed her, maybe he found someone else and wanted to leave her but not lose custody of the daughter. The thing that really sickens me if he did do it though is why the heck did he need to murder the dog?

Thank you for supporting!
Last year I started a fundraiser campaign to develop my visual album.
It has been quite complicated economically, creatively, culturally. Still in the middle of this we’ve had an intense immersive process dureing last two years, recording and producing the songs, developing the videos etc.
But the key piece to all this was the collaboration and support, friendship and kind words of several people who believed in this project.
It's time to close a cycle and open up another one. This Friday, 21/01, I put my newest baby in the world. I hope it grows. I hope you receive it well with affection and radicalism. Take good care of it so that it shines with transformative power for our worlds!

“He had no scruple about his act although she was the mother of his child,” the prosecutor dealing with the murder of Caroline Crouch noted, among others, in his trial recommendation for 33-year-old husband Babis Anagnostopoulos. In his 21-page long recommendation to the Judicial Council, prosecutor Giorgos Noulis, proposed to the Council to refer the confessed murderer with a series of charges to secure the highest possible punishment.
According to the prosecutor, anagnostopoulos, who is in custody pending trial, must be referred as accused of the offenses of “murder with intention in a calm state of mind”, “abuse of an animal to a felony degree”, as well as for a “false denouncement” and “repeated false deposits” to police.
In his recommendation, the prosecutor described what took place at the couple’s home in Gyka Nea, eastern Attica, on May 11, 2021, when 20-year-old Caroline found horrible suffocating death by her husband who then staged a fake “burglary scenery” to mislead police investigators
