#BYE im the only one who this lore makes sense to

I really should be studying physics right now but my mind is stuck in Brothers Ordeal AU and Biology right now 😭

So anyways, I have a theory/AU for BO and that is all the brothers are dead (excluding Daun) due to them not having one of the 7 signs of life. I'm not completely sure tho since I only skimmed through their lore (also because I was too focused on Cahaya and Daun haha)

Ok so let me cook

This all started with that one art of Angin in space being that judge figure (still need to read through that) and seeing Air taking care of his fusions in a fic (idk if you were the one who made it but I'll say it's canon) and I was like "I thought they're dead? Oh well I'll just roll with it" which got me thinking. Yes, they're dead but still act alive in some way.

The 7 signs of life are Movement, Respiratory, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion, and Nutrition.

Angin lacks Respiratory, aka breathing, as seen with that one art of him in space, a place where oxygen is absent. Meaning Angin doesn't need to breath to sustain himself.

Cahaya lacks Sensitivity, aka the ability to react to his environment. Every living being requires this sense to react to the dangers in their environment (like how venus fly traps close in on insects or how chameleons change colors to camouflage themselves from predators) and since Sensitivity comes from the emotion fear (which Cahaya lacks), Cahaya would not be able to react to his environment accordingly.

I'm assuming Tanah would be Nutrition. Assuming he can still breathe, move, and act like an alive person, he wouldn't be able to scavange for food without any help due to the lack of limbs (also last I saw he's chained up).

I'm guessing Api would be Growth, mainly due to the fact that everytime he dies he just revives himself and I'm assuming that revival includes deaging, keeping him in a child's body, not allowing him to grow like his brothers.

Air would most likely be Movement due to his inabillity to... well... move around and last I checked, he's basically paralyzed with how much sleep he needs. His body can still get nutrition one way or another but due to the amount of sleep he needs, movement is just not an option for him.

As for Petir, I'm not completely sure but I assigned him Excretion (yes, assigned) because I desperately wanted to make the whole "one brother, one sign lacked" thing to work out and made Daun lacking Reproduction since that is one thing that is required in every species to survive, but not in every individual so yeah there's that 😅

find ada intimidating and "in the way of their own ship" (they tend to put their insecurities onto ada instead of going to therapy lol)

or are racist or misogynistic or try to demonize and sexualize ada

think that ada is "the whore" and doesn't deserve leon

(side note: i find it a good litmus test to present ada to young girls and see how they react to her and how purity culture and misogyny is so closely tied together)

i'm not being untrue when i say that i don't like certain ships because they fundamentally do not make sense and are not written to make sense. this isn't me SHITTING on the ship; im stating facts. devs never intended the ship to exist, they specifically wrote things out to make the ship not exist. certain ships are WRITTEN to be PLATONIC.

and when people interpret these ships as platonic- they aren't SHITTING ON THEM. when i think of leon and ashley as "siblings" or older mentor- i'M NOT SHITTING ON IT. IT'S BECAUSE I CAN NOT VIEW THEM AS ROMANTIC.

when i think of leon and claire as acquaintances- i'm NOT SHITTING ON THE SHIP- they IN THE LORE DO NOT MAKE SENSE AS FRIENDS- LET ALONE LOVERS.

but any interpretations of romance are based in nothing- and the story does not push for romance between two characters.

THAT'S NOT ME SHITTING ON A SHIP

i've seen a lot of "LEON'S DONE WITH ADA" interpretations of re4r and while i find it mostly amusing, capcom isn't going to rewrite AND retcon 3 pieces of media where leon and ada are STILL CANON.

we have to remember that re4 is set in 2004. and re6 is 2012. we have YEARS to see how and what else happens in between leon and ada's lives to see how intertwined they are. re4r doesn't ERASE their ship, it's just another iteration of it. i find it funny that people HOLD onto this as if it's a trump card. it's really not- leon and ada have always been a push and pull- and with how they decided to characterize leon in re4r, it makes SENSE (i've said i don't necessarily agree with it) that leon PUSHES BACK. re4 has always been their SECOND MEETING

reminder. this is the SECOND TIME THEY'VE EVER SEEN EACH OTHER. WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY ACT MARRIED OR WHATEVER???

today's stream was amazing, the only thing I didn't like (well i still liked it just disagreed? kinda?) was Technoblade taking full blame for the Red Festival because he was a "coward" no one should have to be "brave enough to die for the cause" because if you're dead then guess what? So it the cause. While I won't deny he should some blame i guess, most of it lies on Schlatt, Wilbur and Tommy. Schlatt is obvious because he order the execution, Wilbur and Tommy for not communicating to Techno or providing any sort of distraction or help.

However, I'm not too finicked by this since I'm pretty sure this was all said for some strange foreshadowing purposes because y'know "where I come from people only have one life" so I'm curious how future streams are going to go. (predicting it early; Techno dies so he can get reincarnated as a bell and forever sell out it's going to be great)

It stuck out to me that Dain specified that "the gods descended and destroyed Khaenri'ah" cuz Barbatos and Morax were never in Celestia (I can't remember if Barbatos briefly went with Venessa but even then he was for what ten minutes lol) ANNNNND the only power we see in the destruction of it (in that one trailer) is the Sustainer's. I highly doubt the god of freedom (and love) and a god who knows when to let humanity do its own thing were even remotely part of that destruction- I'm quite sure the gods Dain spoke of were the Celestial gods, not the ones in Teyvat. And if you think about it, Khaenri'ah being destroyed could be why the majority of the Archons we know about oppose/don't care about Celestia

My guess is Dain is assuming all gods are the same, but they're very much not. Also, while I'm at it I wanna point out that ppl in game insist on calling Venti useless and lazy or even imply he's bad... meanwhile Baal is over there blocking off her entire region and taking away Visions and no one (in canon) says a single word against that. How is Venti always talked about like he's some huge problem when Baal and even Tsaritsa are right there being actual menaces (from what we understand so far)... it makes no sense. Ppl are so mean to Venti even if he's not around and for what... what has the god who's always fought for humanity's freedom and happiness done to hurt anyone I just do not understand, I cannot see Venti doing anything of what Dain said. That goes against his entire being...

Dain even contradicts himself multiple times and kept the fact he knows the sibling a secret... for what??? Why is he so sketchy?? Frankly I don't trust him, especially if this theory holds any merit

All this being said, if Venti is actually evil somehow I'll take it I love villains😅😂 But it could also be true that Khaenri'ah was not as great as Dain made it sound... coulda been evil or plotting smth terrible for all we know. He was cursed after all (if I'm understanding right), and literally no one else that we're aware of has been cursed. If Visions are divine blessings then curses are divine punishments... Visions are given to extraordinary ppl and/or those who have suffered greatly; they're given to help ppl. Curses tho... you gotta really fuck up to be cursed I assume.

Last thing before I'm done rambling I am so so sorry I just have a lot of thoughts about all this: in the chapter outline video Dain literally tells us to 'defeat him and command him to step aside' after saying "we (humanity) will defy this world with a power from beyond". Idk about anyone else but that kinda sounds like "sure I wanna destroy the world, but you can stop me". And isn't changing the world what Tsaritsa and the Fatui (and the Abyss Order??) are doing... Dain why are you against the gods who seemingly have the same goal as you

This really saddens me a lot that they view venti as an irresponsible archon when in fact he has done lots of things to keep his nation safe

Venti has more to it than meets the eye and it just needs a better understanding of him yet they keep looking on his current state. Like how often he goes to the tavern for a drink or laze around. Venti’s done lots of things okay T^T even during the Windblume, he helped us out in assisting his students from afar.

Now this is something that piqued my interest as i was reading theories in the subreddit.

In his outro, it seems that the Traveller will be forced to fight him in the future, to save the Traveller's Sibling--"Defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worthier than I to rescue her.

Then, the threads of all fate will be yours to re-weave." It's unclear who the hero or the villain is in this situation. Is it Dainsleif, holding the Traveller's Sibling hostage? Or is it the Traveller's Sibling, who is about to set the world into ruin with Dainsleif wanting to stop them?

Only time will tell but if anything's for certain, things are not as black and white as it may seem.

Dainsleif really be suspicious and acting mysterious. His dislikeness towards the gods is what got my interest so much. There must be a reason why he doesn’t like them. I’m gonna barf out the story stuff really fast in a few quick bullet points bc this is the part of the game where lore dumps happen, none of this will be in order. -Japan defected from Bethel

I think that covers the gist of it. Now onto me actually playing the game.

Well there was a boss fight with Abdel which was...easy really. After meeting Tao again we go off to get the keys to the throne. But each of the former members of Bethel hold them and uh...yeah they’re all level 74! So it’s time for GRINDING!

My first move is to mark all of the map, as I want to be able to see where I’m going. Sadly the first node I went to was...a stupid one. How is it stupid? Well it’s being guarded by demons from Mintato aka the first area. Ha ha ha, that’s cute I say as I’m prepared to tear through them. Level 99.

Yeah, it’s stupid. So the way you win is by being smart. Kill Pixie first, and try to confuse her! She’ll hit Slime who resists physical attacks which loses the whole opposing party a few moves. She’s weak to dark, keep dark gems on hand or DIG for Type 10 for your Nahobino.  Once Pixe dies, target Slime next. Slime is weak to a lot of things but Electric is a good choice to have. Still have Ruinous Thunder? USE IT.  Tao’s healing spell is important, use it even if you’ve only been hit once. Those stat buffs will save you. Once Slime is killed, go for the green flying demon (name escapes me). It’s weak to ice.  Once he’s gone the final one left is weak to bless, which you should have on Tao. So uh, yeah.

AOE attacks help, but keep in mind that since Slime resists physical attacks it’ll ruin your moves. Okay, tip portion done. Let’s talk about a more exciting quest! Fionn’s Resolve.  Normally I don’t name quests by name in these summaries but this one’s special. Basically he’s looking for a king to serve and pretty much says that Aoi has the makings, but he wants him to be tested. So the Nahobino fights Fionn mac Cumhail. He even licks his thumb to be at full power! (It makes sense if you know your mythology). So me being me, I licked my own thumb before I started the fight, uh...IRL.  And wow the fight was kinda easy? Like it’s the same as the required fight except he’s a higher level and he hits harder, but other than that? Nah you don’t need tips from me for this. AND WELL HE JOINS YOU. Unlike Tao though, you can fuse Fionn so you can fuse away the guy you met in the story. BUT HE’S LEVEL 71 RIGHT OFF THE BAT IM NOT LEAVING HIM HE’S A PERMA MEMBER. I could have probably done the quest to help with the Abcess fight but oh well. Along the way to clear a second Abcess, I triggered a scene with Dazai. I’m now afraid of him. And I’m prolly gona have to kill him. Joy...

SO !! i barely have anything yet bc i just had this fucking brain blast like an hour ago but. here are my Thoughts so far:

so the very first thing i tried to think of was like. what everyone is? i did my best w this but i am so fuckin open to ideas..... i don’t know shit! 

the easiest answer right off the bat was who the humans are (or at least the pirates who appear to be human) in this. we got the science team as the pirate crew—gordon, tommy, bubby, and coomer! they are sailing the seas and maybe they are not doing a very good job of it but it’s fine. it’s Fine

the second easiest answer was benrey’s situation. we got skeletons fuck yeah. benrey got some of that curse uh oh! however w benrey’s situation that’s more like... sometimes being a skeleton rather than just steadily turning into one, i thought maybe the curse fucked up on him? maybe it’s like. he’s only half cursed to just sometimes be a skeleton but he can also look human again too. i don’t fucking know. also OH SHIT BENREY HAS TO BE NOT HUMAN UHJHHHHHHHH fuck it guess he’s part ancient now too. i guess. shit i’ll have to spend more time on him but this is.. the gist

next we got uhh forzen babey. i’ll be honest i’m not too confident on this one. i had the vague idea that maybe he’s a mermaid? although whether he’s one of the mermaids that steals sunken pirates and turns them into mermaids or one of the mermaids who was turned into a pirate i can’t really decide. i mean the pirates-turned-mermaids are always helpful in game, and forzen. well. Isn’t, but the mermaid-mermaids live so far deep that they’re never seen? so i don’t know. but he’s out there.... in the ocean....... somewhere....... waiting for me to have more brain power to answer this

it’s darnold time! i’ll be honest i also don’t have many ideas for this guy. i thought maybe he’s got something to do with the order of souls? that’s vaguely related to potions right? sage darnold with the oos eyes curse and he reads the fuckin skull juices to help out the crew with their voyages..... i think? there are other options too but this is the one that jumped out at me the most!

GREGORY MAN. the man himself. SO I GOT TWO POSSIBILITIES HERE FOR THIS GUY. what i can’t decide on is how much of canon sot i want to be canon in this au... mainly, the stuff abt the pirate lord. i got two options here, one of which is that ramsey still exists as the pirate lord and he hangs out doing mostly the same shit he does in canon, and gman is like. an ancient who stuck around the sea of thieves for whatever reason? which would make tommy a descendant of the ancients too, hence why i specified earlier that all the pirates in the crew might not be human..... EITHER THAT OR gman is the pirate lord and ramsey fuckin uh doesn’t exist in the au. and i CANNOT for the life of me decide which i like better. ANY HELP APPRECIATE HERE PLS

OH ALSO I FORGOT SUNKIST HE’S A MONKEY THAT TOMMY HAS AND HE CAN DO COOL TRICKS AND EVERYONE LOVES HIM. HE’S IMMORTAL SOMEHOW. DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT

THEN. it’s tim,e for “how the fuck did everyone get past the shroud into the sot”

i think no matter who the pirate lord is in this au they’d have no problems letting pretty much anyone in honestly. ramsey just kinda says “oh you washed up unconscious on the shores of old sailor’s isle? cool let me just not ask any questions and part the shroud for you real quick ok bye” and honestly i can’t imagine gman would be much different—although he’d probably be more cryptic abt it than ramsey is

SO. GORDOS. i feel like him coming to the sot was a last resort of sorts. he feels lost in life, unsure what his goal is or where he’s going, and he hears of this mystical sea that nobody who enters ever leaves but apparently there’s adventure and treasure and wonder there so he’s like fuck it, i’ve got nothing else to do and goes there hoping to find some sort of purpose. and find it he does :)

tommy time! i feel like whatever brought him here had to be partially related to his dad? either he’s just There bc. well. his dad’s the fuckin pirate lord, or gman’s all cryptid abt being an ancient and left tommy to sort of grow up in the sot on his own while gman kept a distant eye on him, just so tommy wouldn’t find out too much abt being an ancient or whatever. uh. so he’s pretty familiar w the world of sot and all its wacky magic shit! 

(actual sot lore question here bc this is smth i don’t know—does all the magic that happens in sea of thieves happen beyond the shroud? i wonder if the rest of the world also has skeletons and giant sea monsters and magic and shit or if it’s just inside the sea of thieves...... hmmm for this au i’m gonna assume that all magic is something unique to the sea of thieves and doesn’t happen beyond the shroud) 

The Bubby. honestly i like the idea that bubby came to the sot just to like... get away from the outside world? like maybe he’s on the run from something............ this is very very vague in my mind and is extremely subject to change but i like the whole “I’M LEAVING THIS WORLD!” thing as bubby being like fuck the regular world i’m going into the flesh eating devil shroud and nobody can stop me. and then he did

coomer. the man himself. i think coomer came to the sot searching for adventure! and more to learn! he’s always looking to broaden his horizons and where else to go but to the mystical sea of thieves when looking for new experiences? coomer is just here to have a good time :)

UH i think darnold already existed in the sot... he just sorta Lives There... there are npcs who just fucking were born and raised there right. like tasha was in the sot at age 4 so it makes sense right?? darnold just live here and he helps get the crew from the outside world familiar with the sot!

FORZEN has been in the sot for ages—either he’s always been here as a mermaid or he got turned into one so long ago and he’s just been getting angrier and angrier w it every year he’s trapped here. he barely remember why he came anymore but god does he regret it. :(

gman either way just kind of Is There huh..... as the pirate lord i honestly can’t imagine his origin being much different than ramsey’s? like he just makes friends w the ancients like hey what’s up i like this sea. my sea now. or he Is an ancient and just fucking chills there. whatever

OK THAT’S MOSTLY IT FOR WHAT I HAVE FOR TECHNICAL STUFF WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT..... HERE ARE SOME OTHER FUN BITS I THOUGHT OF:

bubby discovers firebombs and Uh Oh. Uh Oh Everyone Watch Out Bubby’s Got Fire Powers Now. he only accidentally sets the ship on fire SOMETIMES it’s FINE. (also his favorite region is the devil’s roar. unsurprisingly. he likes the chaos it brings)

bubby and tommy + coomer as well are agents of chaos in general. they don’t follow the fuckin Rules and it makes gordon’s life a living hell. 

bubby: look gordon i dug up some grubs! gordon: cool man, put those in the barrel and we can use them to fish late- bubby: (shoving the grubs in his mouth) gordon: BUBBY NO WHAT THE FUCK DON’T EAT TH coomer: oh, what a good idea, bubby! i am feeling quite hungry myself! (also starts eating worms) gordon: I’M COOKING DINNER AT THE CAMPFIRE RIGHT NOW PLEASE DON’T tommy: oh are the worms okay to eat? i wonder what they taste like gordon: NO STOP benrey, shoving worms in gordon’s face: eat worms? eat worms now please?

coomer finds out how to launch himself out of a cannon and he becomes unstoppable. the crew is attacked by an enemy ship and everyone’s like “oh fuck everyone get to the cannons!” and they go there to find coomer fucking launching himself directly onto the enemy ship, and he kills their entire crew in seconds. by the time he mermaids back to his ship everyone is fucking stunned silent and coomer is just like “well, that takes care of that! let’s get back on course, gentlemen!” and since then they just fucking fire coomer at people like a weapon whenever they get attacked by other pirates or skeletons. It Always Works

UH AND I THINK THAT’S KIND OF WHAT I HAVE SO FAR? i might be forgetting something but this post is long enough as is......

it is so stupid first of all like. it’s just overall not a great movie from Any of the angles it’s playing like. first of all the Detective is only around b/c he’s solving a nearby murder / death and making like. corny dumb “oh this is a Smart guy” observations about the Scene and someone is like “oh hey @ cops you’re already on the premises, come solve the mystery of Elevator Broke” like i don’t think that’s how it works and also i can’t even remember the reason they find this issue That pressing pre-realizing And One Of Them Is The Devil. maybe someone dies right off, idk. there is conflict on the elevator so naturally that’s a whole other thing like, we’re all trapped in this elevator together and maybe one of us is untrustworthy and liable to be dangerous to the rest of us like, i don’t know the Contrivance that makes these people think anything has to be done but just Stand Around for a while but it’s you know. that whole Thing where there’s a premise of “some shit is happening to Incite Conflict amongst strangers who are trapped in a bad situation together and they’re all apparently raring to judge each other’s moral fiber to decide who deserves Suspicion vs Protection.” but also, one of them is the devil

meanwhile on the outside it’s this dumb Cop Mystery Drama where this rando guy apparently sets aside the death he was investigating earlier to solve this elevator situation (i think eventually it’s revealed that that death was tied to the elevator situation all along. i think that the devil killed the guy. or something) and also, maybe there was Coincidentally some kind of heist going on at this place b/c i remember at some point the detective (and some partner there too involved in all this) like, find some tools hidden in a bathroom like “aha this was Used to do [whatever]” and despite having no idea what the details are i Know i remember this b/c of at the time going “oh my god that is so dumb Nobody Would Do This / this makes no sense” lol like. writing not great. and this was maybe Not the devil, but a regular separate scheme to. do something

also there’s some aspect where Main Cop has some tragic backstory and is like, not over it b/c it was so painful. i think maybe someone like hit and run his wife or something like that. you know how it goes. spoilers in that i think the person that the devil is here to kill (more on this devil assassination thing....) was Behind That somehow lmfao so it’s like really??? is that our resolution, that people’s stories are Converging in a very serendipitous way b/c the devil would like to give people emotional catharsis......idek. look, spoilers, this old lady who “dies” in the elevator relatively early on turns out to have been The One Of Them Who Is The Devil, Act Fast. and it was this weird thing where the devil is like “grr whoever i’m even here to Get in the first place is just Such A Bad Person that uhhh i guess i came here in person to take them to hell” like.....what tf kind of Lore......this is definitely going with “aaaah the devil is evil” approach, not any more kind of Neutral figure, but then in the end apparently the evil devil is just really Judgey and Disgusted by someone being A Bad Person like??? you ought to love this shit!!!!! and anyways the detective learns that One Of Them is The Devil b/c when they take him up to the security camera display hq it’s like a) look at this scary Moment where the elevator camera feed gets staticky and a scary face appears for a moment (im not sure if i could see what it was supposed to be lmfao) This Means Something and okay oh my god i reread the plot summary b/c for the life of me i couldnt remember the ending, it is so stupid oh my god

okay so first of all the Dead Person the detective was investigating had left like a suicide note like “i am killing myself b/c um. the devil approacheth” like wow okay right off the bat? amazing foreshadowing. why does this person Know this?? and why should he care b/c the devil is here apparently for a Special Soul Collection like, this has nothing to do with you, random guy?? you don’t even need to worry like. just stay home from work to avoid the fairly minor problems that occur (like MAYBE one guy dies in the course of this story but i think it’s a little ambiguous, meanwhile whoever Really Dies in th elevator was i think due to like, suspicion and infighting lmao. idk maybe the devil killed a few of them. it’s weird) but yeah the highlight is this

everyone please enjoy this scene. security guy ramirez is explaining the Devil Expertise courtesy of Where I Come From where toast falling jelly side down is evidence that the devil is hanging out in the elevator. 

while looking up “devil toast” the result immediately after that one was “the devil takes the toast” which is a devil takes the hindmost ytp which i feel is really fitting

it kind of undercuts the stakes i think when not only is the devil only sorta gently radiating Bad Luck but also is just super Righteous but like. yes it turns out that the devil is here to Claim a guy on the elevator was the same dude who Hit N Run the detective’s family (wife and kid apparently) those years prior......except like, it wasn’t even like oh he assassinated them On Purpose, it’s apparently already a Known Detail that although they ~never knew~ who killed detective joe’s family (idk what his name is idc) there was a Note left on the scene like “sowwy :(” like really? this is the Big Bad that the devil made a special corporeal visit for??????? and then, get this, when the devil is like “i’m not a dead old lady, i’m the devil, and i’m here to Get you b/c you accidentally killed a couple of people and i, the devil, am really disgusted by how sinful you are for that” the guy is like “yes that was me :’( i’m sorry” and then the devil is like “ah fuck you’ve Repented. i can’t take you to hell anymore. bye” like what!!! why did he only have to feel bad about it to get out of this whole situation when obviously he Felt Bad in the first place b/c he up and left a note like “[grimace emoji] aaa my bad” like, did he have to apologize To The Devil?? the lore i s2g. Jelly Toast Rules operating here i guess. 

anyways then the detective who witnessed this i guess is like “wow the guy who killed my family all those years ago but i’m still sad about it.....well i’m gonna arrest him now. but also, I Forgive Him.” oh and also for a while there the detective was so gritty he didn’t believe in The Devil b/c the vehicular manslaughter apparently made him think that human nature was evil enough to not need the extra help. so now he’s made the arc of getting uh, emotional closure on his family’s death by forgiving the dude who i guess super crashed into them on accident, And gets to know that the devil is real actually and he’s on the elevator but now Not b/c he was like “ah jeez thwarted by this guy uh, feeling bad about the accidental deaths even though he felt bad in the first place” and there was no other point to the detective being there b/c he didn’t Really do shit except i guess drive this sideplot where you are led to believe he Might figure out who the Bad Guy on the elevator is. (it is the devil. one guy has a crime record or something but, spoilers, he is trying to turn his life around with some good honest work as a security guard or something. idk)

it was amazing and very stupid and i was continually indignant b/c the writing was dumb and made no sense and just so fucking corny throughout. the entire movie is called “devil” and i remember it was like “tf is ‘devil’” and as soon as it involved an Elevator i was like omg omg is this And He Has To Act Fast Because One Of Them Is The Devil, and it was, so that was exciting. it was a dumb waste of time but also it was not b/c it was *slightly* so bad it’s good. mostly Not Even. but just watch the toast scene there b/c like. i think that’s this movie’s #1 contribution outside that post about the plot summary.

Also has my own stupid bits of lore ‘n’ shit I guess, and is self-indulgent as hell, bye)

To be fair, a part of her died when she was a little girl. 

Nimair wouldn’t exactly say she’s lived the kindest life, or the most fulfilling. She – a girl who, by all accounts, is still considered a dirty street rat, a child in a woman’s pale skin – never truly grew up, for growing up in Nimair’s mind includes the prospect of living in a home, under a roof, with a family. For the longest time, she spoke brokenly, in fragmented sentences. For the longest time, she had been unable to read, because reading wasn’t a luxury you received when you’re no better than dirt smeared on the bottom of someone’s shoe. 

Nimair isn’t even her real name. Nimair is the name of the demoness who she bound her soul to at age ten, so that she could have power beyond her wildest dreams. 

The power of a Hunter. 

It takes effort. 

Effort to bind one’s soul to that of a demon. Effort to use that wild power not for evil, but for good. Effort to, however ironic it was, purge other such supernatural entities, for the betterment of the world as a whole. Nimair? Nimair had wholeheartedly accepted this and, fifteen years later, still wholeheartedly accepts it, for better or for worse. 

She’s still the same street rat she used to be – merely a rodent with a scythe now. 

Yet, despite a haphazard and ragged appearance, accentuated by a layered white dress so torn that one would think it was originally built from scraps, people found her… Intimidating. Perhaps it was her manner of speaking, clipped and to the point. Perhaps it was the way she cut her black hair – with a knife, quick and easy, though it left shoddy ends – or the scars over every visible inch of her skin. Perhaps it was the massive stigmata on her back that peeked out through the fabric of her dress. 

…or, perhaps, it was because Nimair had been sighted quite recently around the palace; she had sensed through that demoness’ granted power the appearance of… supernatural entities. What, she didn’t make known. Secrets were well-kept amidst the few and far-between Hunters of the world. Secrets tended to be well-kept amidst even lovers. 

Frankly, if the Count had come back as some sort of ghost, she would be the first to send him back. The world needed no such infiltrations. 

Some part of her, however, tells her that her rash actions might cause her to lose Nadia instead – the absolute worst-case scenario.

“I am dead,” she tells Nadia over dinner, finger tracing the delicate edge of a wine glass. “I died. My name is embedded on a grave.” 

Nadia casts her an incredulous glance. The empty air of the dining hall is cumbersome, an invisible weight atop both their shoulders. The Countess muses after a long moment’s pause, “Why ever is your name on a gravestone?”

“’Nimair’ is not my real name,” she says, and Nadia nods once, You’ve told me before. “My real name is Mareike Reynder. Legally, I am dead.” 

There’s a brief moment of pause, of silence, filling the room like a dense fog. Then, Nadia’s confused gaze clears; she knows what Nimair means. What Mareike Reynder means. “That…” The words roll from Nadia’s tongue, honeylike, “was your name before you bound to her…” She trails off. 

She brushes a few loose strands of hair out of her face and idly twirls it between her thumb and forefinger, images flashing through her mind. Of her hometown, ablaze. Of her mother and father, pushing her away from the consuming flames. Of the vengeful spirit, whose name she never learnt, but whose will destroyed everything she ever knew. 

“It was,” she tastes the syllables, mulls over them, should I say this?, “my name before my hometown burned. I am dead. Nimair is not dead. Does that make sense?” 

“It–” 

“No, hardly,” Nimair intercepts, now lost in her own thoughts, “it’s difficult. Mareike is dead. She died in the fire. They never found her body. Nimair is not dead. She is a demoness. Her soul is my soul.” 

Nadia leans forward against the dining table, seemingly interested, glass tilted in one hand. “It sounds as though Mareike is still alive, and sitting right in front of me.” 

Nimair shakes her head, wryly retorting, “If she is, she became that which she hates the most. But, she’s happy,” a light sparks behind her eyes, “because she fell in love with the Countess.” You seem to have no luck with the living, my love. What is it about you that brings death to your door?

“The Countess and the Hunter,” Nadia muses with a thin smile. “It sounds like a storybook.” 

Nimair shifts uncomfortably in her seat, pulling at the tattered remains of her clothing. She never had been one to dress conventionally – too often, something would appear that she’d have to purge, and that usually ended in disaster for her clothing. “If I asked you to come with me to my hometown,” she begins slowly, “would… would you?”

The Countess’ expression softens, sombre, like the colours of the sunset. “Of course. Though, why bring this up now?” 

The Hunter wonders briefly how she got to this point, how those crimson eyes set upon her with love and wonder and curiosity, rolled together all at once. She’d learnt to love every look, every shift in the Countess’ expression, all of it; she’d drink it in like the rays of the sun, remember that she has a roof over her head here. Safety. Here. Because of Nadia.

“I–” Nimair chokes on the words as they rise into her throat, “I trust you. I lo– nevermind. We set out whenever you are ready.” She stands, rather abruptly, and beings to haul herself off to the guest room. Before she finishes her trek, Nadia’s hand lashes out and catches her wrist. Nimair visibly flinches, relaxing only after her brain registers the fact that she’s not in danger. 

Playfully, the Countess replies, “I trust you, and I lo– nevermind.”

The Story of The Traveller and The Darkness (Destiny Game Theory)

So Destiny, you know the game that Bungie made? I have a theory about the Traveller.

So we know little about the Traveller, we know it was moving around space terraforming planets,  that it was being chased by something called 'the Darkness', and that its alive in some way.

But what really is the traveller?  Well i recon we have seen a part of him...her....it? Or at least a part of another one of its species. 

Remember the black heart from the black garden? I think its been accepted that its part of 'the darkness'. But I recon that both the Traveller and the Darkness are beings of the same race. 

Two beings that have enormous power, one with the power to create, the other the power to destroy (keeping in the hole balance theme). Lovers? Siblings? Or maybe two halves of a greater being? What they are will have to stay a mystery until Bungie decide to enlighten us.

Here's how i think they are, the traveller wanted to explore and help the mortal lives all over the universe, but its friend the Darkness didn't think it was a good idea, in fact it believed that the universe belonged to them, they were so much more than any of the little beings on the planets.

The traveller knowing that the little beings couldn't stand against the Darkness without aid, decided that it would have to help.

(I'm about to go through the races, i don't know what order the traveller visited each race but i will go through them here)

So it set out on a journey, it wasn't much of a fighter, it brought life, it healed, destruction was Darkness's thing.  But darkness noticed the Traveller's intention, and decided that it too needed to be destroyed.

The darkness gave power to what we know as the worm gods, and helped in creating the hive, in turn traveller tried to do the same and aid other races to defend life against the darkness, The Ammonites,  The Harmony, the fallen and possibly others. But the Traveller was no fighter, no creator of weapons or master of destruction.

So races fell, the Fallen looked well enough, but they weren't strong enough.

I imagin that the traveller tried to stay and help the fallen (at the time known as Eliksni). But in doing so got injured and had to leave, this would explain why unlike other races the fallen survived the darkness, crippled and set back a in culture, but alive.

Then the humans found the traveller,  by this point it was tired, so much death had followed those it helped, but it had to stop the darkness. So once more it helped.  It in the humans, who had war as part of their history, it saw hope, they created powerful weapons, machines of their own.  Maybe this time?

Sadly no, now its unknown for sure if Rasputin fired apon the traveller, or if it was moving to better fight, or preparing to run.  But here's what i think happened;

The traveller sensed the darkness on its way

, it panicked "not again, not another race crippled or destroyed!" In its panic it moved, Rasputin sensing the movement and the panic decided to show the traveller the best option, He readied his weapons and fired them(or showed the  traveller a simulation of them being fired) as a show of force, "keep running and the cycle will continue". And with that its mind was made up, it would stay and fight one last time, no more running, and the fight between the Traveller and the Darkness began again, with a new outcome, a victory in the traveller's favour, it held and pushed back the darkness, but now it was injured, it needed time to heal itself, but if it went to sleep and left the humans alone, they would surely die, so it created the Ghosts, making one special one so it could speak with humanity more directly.

 You may have noticed i haven't said about the Cabal or vex yet. Its hinted that the cabal herd of the Traveller through another race, possibly humanity or fallen but they had no interaction with them, their ways may have reminded the Traveller too much of the Darkness, and decided not to aid.

 But the vex, i have a theory about, i recon the machine that the traveller was in was made by the vex.  But i also think that the vex, was made by the traveller.

We know that the vex mind fluid is what makes Vex...well....Vex They are organic, using machines, i recon it was the traveller that created the mind fluid, then helped them more directly than other times, the vex was going to be its own answer to the hive, the fluid in the vex is light, they shine, their data spires are white and illuminate the area.

What happens when we go to Nexuss, something that should have any life on at all. We see them terraforming it, creating plants, that when left alone would eventually spawn creatures (you know nature doing its thing).  That's on odd thing for an evil bunch of liquid robot users to do right?

Its because its in their nature, it was in the nature of the Traveller and as such a desire was sent through, the Traveller made the vex to try to figure out what the darkness will do, to try to find out how to win. Needing more planets as processing power for them, before leaving them to act on the orders,(defend yourselves when needed, defeat the darkness, possibly more as well).  Its when the Traveller was about to leave to try to find a race to aid, to slow down the darkness while the Vex do their thing, the vex captured the Traveller, they logiced that if they send the traveller out to terraform for them, it would speed up the process, knowing that the Traveller would be instrumental in defeating  the darkness, the vex created the cage/machinery around the traveller.

The traveller allowed this to happen, it would surly help if the darkness attacked. After some time allowing the vex to control the cage, the Traveller wrestled control and went out to aid the races it felt it had to.

The reason i think the cage is vex is due to a side mission i did on Nexuss, our Ghost goes into the vex network, and they gladly answer his questions, asks him to 'come home'. that would only make sense, if whatever the ghost was made from, happened to vex as well.

 That said it could also be that the traveller found the machine that it's vex made to therraform planets, and decided to take control of it.

But this would also explain why the Vex decided to worship the black heart.

Apon finding The Traveller's creation, the Darkness left a part of itself with them.

The vex having learned from their previous attempt with the cage decided to try a worshiping, in an attempt to please it, why would they care so much, because it reminds them of their creator. They create a system that they use to keep the fragment of darkness in one place, a fragment they may have possibly got from the great battle over Earth.  But the darkness couldn't control the Vex, the Traveller's light protected them such powers, so he had them to make his own guards.

The three bosses we fight at the end of the destiny 1 campaign, aren't that tough when compared to things like what was in the vault of glass. And despite how many Vex there are, we only get a few to fight with each boss? Why not send an army of thousands? Because the vex don't need the darkness, when the darkness proved to not be as interested in terraforming or creating, the vex kept it, but it wasn't worth the highest protection.

The darkness did gain something from its time from the vex though, remember those shapes in the third cut-scene at the end of Destiny 2? Its possible that they were made by the vex, a sort of weapon against the Traveller's armour/cage.

 That's it im done!

Now i will admit that i haven't done too much reaserch on the lore, but this turned into a kinda half story half theory thing anyway. I'm sure the real story is nothing like this.

But it felt good to type all this out.
