inktober day 29 - “injured”

the gryphon (otherwise known as the great griffin), is the largest and most prolific species of griffin. griffins are pseudo-dragons, like the drakes and basilisks, though they are the closest related to dragons than the others. they sport large feathered wings, a beak with sharp teeth in the rest of the jaw, feathered hindlimbs but bare frontlimbs, and a long tail with ends in decorative plumes, with the base sporting a pygostyle. their first digit on their hindlimbs are still reduced like other theropods, however sport a long backwards facing spur-like claw used in intraspecific fights over territory and mates. pictured is an young male gryphon who did not win his most recent encounter.
