Welcome to the emotional rollercoaster that is Campaign 2, Episode 110 of Critical Role: “Dinner with the Devil,” and honestly this could not be a more accurate title. I was so tense about seeing Trent Ikithon again after last episode’s ending and it was for good reason... Spoilers and liveblogs (and maybe a couple of Eiselcross theories) down below!

- These NordVPN ads are so compelling that I unironically enjoy this saga more than certain Marvel movies

- Caleb telling the story of his parents again... I procrastinated watching this all day because I knew it was going to be painful  😭

- “One: I need Veth” oh my heart... if/when Veth leaves the Mighty Nein permanently, I have a feeling it will take such a toll on Caleb, no matter how much she needs to do it

- I LOVE THE BRENATTO FAMILY SO MUCH LMAO this is so chaotic and wonderful

- “Rounding up, yeah, you have two healers!” asdfghjk it’s true but you shouldn’t say it.jpeg

- PROFESSOR THADDEUS?!??!

- Wait okay, tin foil hat time everyone... what if when Aeor crashed, some of the citizens went underground(?) and formed some sort of icy underground village, and their descendants still live there, and now the Mighty Nein are going to stumble upon some like lost Atlantis village in Eiselcross?? I know this is a very far shot but just the way that Matt describes history and stuff is so cool and gives me so many ideas and conspiracy theories...

- All these Haunted Mansion references, I approve

- YASHA SITTING DOWN BEFORE EODWULF CAN SGHDJKLD GET WRECKED SIR

- “Mostly we are just trying to leave the world better than when we found it” Awe, the Molly reference again

- Wait what, what’s Shattengrod? Why tomb raiders? What’s he on about? (Also, they missed a good opportunity for a “Trent shat in where?” sort of a joke dgdhjkl)

- Trent trying to take credit for Caleb’s growth, and implying that he’s the one who made Caleb strong, instead of Caleb himself........... i hate himmmmm

- “What about you, though?” “What about me?” has the equal but opposite energy to that one scene from Lost where it goes “What about me?” “What about you?” and I am sobbing over both of them goodnight

- WAIT IS ASTRID PLOTTING TO KILL TRENT FOR THE ASSEMBLY SEAT

- THOSE DOUBLE NATURAL 20S ON INSIGHT CHECKING TRENT, GET THAT LYING BASTARD LETS GO

- oh he was being honest? why do i still not believe him though 

- “What’s the most incredible thing you’ve learned from studying [the Beacons]?” “We don’t know yet” WAIT remember that theory where like.... maybe the Assembly were doing bastardized experiments with the Beacons, and that’s like how Lucien came back as Molly, because he was one of the experimented-upon...... what if that’s what Trent is referring to?

- I’m sorry but there’s no way Trent was the one who orchestrated Caleb’s escape.... someone must have gone behind his back to do so maybe?? And now he’s of course here taking credit for it... for everything, I hate him

- “That is your choice.” “Easy as that?” “Of course. But you won’t.” I don’t know why this hit so hard but it did.

- “You could come with us”  😭

- The way that Caleb tensed up when Eodwulf put his hand on his shoulder..... that hurts :((

- “Race you to the top” I love that

- WAIT Beau/Marisha is on to something here..... so apparently Nonagon/Molly was part of a group called the Tomb Takers running from a spellcaster.... what if she’s right and it was Vess that they were running from, AND it was because they escaped the afore-mentioned Beacon experimentation?!?!? I’ve connected the dots (probably not but at least Im having fun dhjdkl)

- I am still on my ‘there’s a lost civilization of Aeor somewhere in Eiselcross’ bs listen I have my tin foil hat and I’m ready to go !!!

- Beau and Jester are having two very different galaxy brain moments right now and I’m living for it sdfghjklkjhgf

- “We go to Antartica and we find an underground city” SEE Travis gets it, I feel validated

- That dinner was literally so rough, Caleb are you okay I’m :((( The confrontation was so well done but so hard to watch... I feel so bad for Caleb, but I’m also glad that he has the Nein as a support now, and it was actually good to see Astrid and Eodwulf again (perhaps unpopular opinion, but I like them a lot.) 

- Also it will be interesting (if rough) to see how/if Trent fits into this campaign’s endgame at all
