every time i see someone talk about an amazing life-changing t*ylor swift lyric it's the dumbest most inane most "thirteen-year-old girl writing Deep poetry" shit i've ever heard in my life like have swifties just never heard other music

#talk tag #tbh i can see how she had a certain appeal in the (early) 2010s #when most chart toppers were 'i'm at the club dancing and getting drunk' type songs #which isn't a criticism of those songs. just dance by lady gaga gets me pumped every single time i listen to it #BUT i can see how in that cultural landscape taylor's (carefully calculated) vibe of sincerity could be a selling point #but. and correct me if i'm wrong bc i don't listen to the radio unless i'm forced to #i don't think that's what pop music is anymore?? i feel like we're in an era where emotional 'poetic' music is way more popular #than it was ten years ago #hozier is huge mitski is huge. there are so many massively popular artists who predominantly make music that would've been niche in 2011 #so in the current cultural landscape i just don't understand how you can listen to her music and think it's deep??#and like. people are allowed to like music i don't like. the fact that people enjoy her music isn't really my issue #it's that they always have to insist her lyrics are OMG SO PROFOUND when they're just... not????
