fifteen years—
THAT’S HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR JAEKYUNG TO BE REALLY, TRULY CONTENT. how long it takes for him to accept himself, to learn the meaning of true self esteem. it’s not a measure of fame, or a measure of fortune— it’s about the mark he makes on the world around him, and jaekyung’s pleased to say he made a good one.
his time with decipher is one he never intends to forget (and really, it’s not time that he can forget). but it’s time that ends on a painful note, at least for him— it ends with a bang and a scream and a crash and blood everywhere, on an icy winter day eight years after 2018. the stage lights are focused on his group members’ horrified faces, and the fans’ screams seem to be his reminder to feel pain— he can’t bring himself to look up at his friends, or lift his hand to where something warm trickles down his head, or catch air where he can’t seem to, or glance down at where his leg doesn’t seem to really be a leg but rather a twisted, oddly-angled mass of blood and bone.
it’s time jaekyung pays his dues for overworking his knee so much. it was a special stage for before the dawn, and his doctor had warned him not to do the scorpion move— i’m serious, jaekyung. don’t do it— the old man had said— but jaekyung, of course, never wanted to give half a show and did it anyway. the ice and jaekyung’s already-fucked-up knee and the sheer rigor of that move cooperate to end in the decipher leader’s blood on the snow and headlines about how jang jaekyung is Over, capital “O.” like it’s his fault that he made half the nation gag on live television in broad daylight.
jaekyung fell headfirst off the stage and hit his head on the corner of a speaker, his back bent over the wrong way around a stagelight, and his leg twisted the wrong way and the bone— well, the gruesome details are spared from him, but what jaekyung does know is that he’ll never dance again. from there, jaekyung should have faded into nothing more than a has-been and a viral clickbait youtube video entitled KPOP STAR FREAK ACCIDENT (GRUESOME FANCAM!) but jaekyung, of course, does only the most for himself.
there are four years in between the end of his idol career and the start of his new one. much of those four years are spent in a wheelchair, a blanket draped around his legs and an arm draped around his sisters. his doctor doesn’t trust jaekyung not to go worsen himself— in addition to a bad knee, jaekyung now has a bad back, and has been told many times he’s lucky he can still walk. not even jaekyung is going to try to do something so stupid as dance. but jaekyung hates to admit that there is some level of shallowness to him— he didn’t work eighteen years just to fade into obscurity.
he signs on with an acting company once he’s back on his feet. it’s not too hard— jaekyung’s still enough of a household name that he can get in with ease. he trains for a while, then debuts with a drama that is mercifully a success. but it’s not a success thanks to him, but rather to his costar, and he keeps going and going until he becomes respected as an actor.
the next chapter in his life begins when he finally manages to be in the same room as decipher again for a reunion fansign (much to the delight of many, as they were only four or three or two since the injury). he’s kept the same autograph since then, and he finishes signing a cd and looks up and— ohmygodinheaven that is the most beautiful girl jaekyung has ever seen in his entire life!
turns out it’s seo eunha from lipstick.
it’s been so long since he’s seen her face that he didn’t even recognize her for a moment. any thoughts of hiding how floored he is are totally gone when he gets home and immediately looks up her name. turns out not one, not two, but at least thirty cameras managed to capture the stuttering, stupid look on his face when he sees her again. screw it, he thinks, and calls her up and asks her out on a date. luck’s on his side because she says yes. their relationship doesn’t last long as a private one, of course, before people find out somehow— but for the first time, jaekyung finds that he doesn’t mind. people simultaneously love and hate that two of the most senior idols managed to find love in each other— again, jaekyung really, really doesn’t mind.
time goes on and before he knows it, he’s proposing to her and she’s saying yes and he’s quietly paying for her dream wedding and people are screeching because it’s so rare that such a high-profile idol (or at least in jaekyung’s case, ex-idol) relationship works out so well.
and soon enough, jaekyung’s pacing the floor of a hospital waiting room and he honestly feels like fainting with relief (no fainting! he knows his doctor would demand, for it wouldn’t do for jaekyung to break his head as well) when he hears the cries of a little baby.
time, of course, goes on, and it’s not really the life he would have expected for himself— he thought he would have made a name as an idol, not an actor. he never thought he’d be allowed to marry, much less marry an ex-labelmate, much less have a daughter with her whom he adores more than just about anything in the world. he knew decipher would always be a part of him— but he never thought it’d end the way it did. he’s glad, though, that he kept his friends, and that when his baby girl comes into the world, decipher and his sisters were the ones pacing the waiting room with him.
it’s now fifteen years since 2018. his idol days are long behind him. eunha is pregnant with another child. jaekyung is shamelessly hoping for another girl. he keeps in touch with decipher and is unabashedly vocal about his support for their newer endeavors, like hanbit’s upcoming girl group or taesung’s life in france. jaekyung earns most of his income now through a chocolate business on the side and his widely acclaimed acting gigs. the late queen elizabark’s puppy daughter is crowned queen elizabark the second. he makes it a habit to spoil not only his wife and daughter, but taesung’s children as well, and works hard to continue being the friend to turn to for his groupmates because they’ll always be his groupmates anyway. in his heart it’s always the five of them as decipher, a family— and jaekyung’s always happy to let his family keep on growing.

Episode start.
Like most bittersweet moments, it begins with the good. Lucky viewers with their volumes turned up are hooked in by the catchy tune of “Team” as the intro VTR plays in at the start. Thirteen girls with hopes and dreams are seen on screen, each one beautiful and each one talented in her own right. But, when ‘Royal Survival’ appears at its conclusion, it’s a reminder that not all endings can be purely optimistic. Despite the good feelings of friendship developing behind the scenes, despite the talents that are seen onstage and the performances that will rock a nation, in the end it’s about survival of the fittest.
The audience is reminded of the previous episode’s events when a familiar image of So Jisub inside the performance venue appears. “Your second challenge is going to show me exactly what you’re capable of,” he tells the gathered girls with a handsome smile upon his face. “Idols need to be able to perform well as a team. I will personally be sorting you and you will be asked to perform one of Royal Entertainment’s past hit songs in front of an invited audience. For many of you up there, this will be your comeback opportunity to be placed on the Major team.”
It’s the shining goal of all. For those who want to take a spot, as well as those who want to protect theirs. As soon as the girls are dismissed from the stage, the preparations for the next phase begin in full onslaught. The audience gets to see Yoo Jaekyung pulling out the groups one by one to teach them the choreography. Jo Eunae is seen barefoot by the studio’s mirrors, her feet visibly in rough condition as she attempts to sing along to an unheard melody. Her group member, Lee Jihyun, equally practices hard on the choreography. Anyone familiar with “Goodbye Baby” might recognize the iconic moves of the song but, to those who aren’t, all they see a female trainee forced to the point of exhaustion as she goes over the dance repeatedly.
“Honestly, I think I’d like to see myself or Jihyun finally make it into major,” Nam Dawon is heard speaking as she’s pictured inside the interview room. A smiling girl with a quiet aura, she continues on with an honest tone, “But thinking that way is kind of scary because I also feel like she’s my strongest competition to get there.” A clip is shown of Dawon being aided by Lee Jieun as they both practice their group choreography together. Missteps are frequent and so is the determination on Dawon’s face as she repeats the steps again. “Even when I was little, I knew that I wanted to become a singer. Singing is all that I’ve ever known. It’s what I’m best at… which led me to realize my dream of becoming an idol. My family and I have gone through so much just for me to reach this point, so… I have to debut, no matter what.”
As the girls rehearse separately, the preparations for the filming continue on elsewhere: So Jisub is seen meeting with his producers to speak about concepts, as well as with Yoo Jaekyung to discuss the choreography progress, and once, he is even seen silently watching a rehearsal through the practice studio’s window as the third group is taught the dance to “Be My Baby.” Admittedly, this is the group he’s the most concerned about, and Jisub watches Manoban Lalisa with a critical eye as she asks numerous questions out of Jaekyung: “Is this right?” “Do we tilt our head during this part?” “What count is this on?” Her attention to perfection doesn’t go unobserved; rather, it coaxes a warm smile out of Royal’s CEO. He watches the group dance for a few moments longer and then departs.
October 1st, 2017, the day of the filming.
Staffers clothed in their professional blacks move quickly backstage to add lights where needed around the stage. The stage manager barks out orders and So Jisub is seen conversing with a clipboard-holding producer beside one of the cameras. An anonymous audience has filled up most of the venue’s front rows of seats, their faces alternately excited and anxious to see who’s about to appear onstage for the first time. For many, most of these trainees are still unknown to the public, while others have already worked their way into viewers’ hearts. Handmade signs cheering for Kim Yubin and Lee Jihyun are seen held by several teenage girls and boys. Another one, for Jegal Seoyoung, is glittering and pink.
“For me, being a singer is the only thing I ever wanted to do!” Jegal Seoyoung admits inside the interview room, throwing up her arms in excitement as she speaks. “Honestly, people never noticed me that much in school, but… I was always happy when I was on stage. Eomma and Appa in Daegu, my cousin Jaebum here in Seoul… and all my other cousins, thank you. I hope you’re all watching. I love you!”
A quiet hush descends over the crowd as the lights go dark. The camera operators are ready with anticipation, their cameras’ red lights blinking as the first group comes out to take their places on center stage. The live audience will get two chances to see them but, for the viewers at home, they only get to see the best of what this selected group of girls can offer. Lee Jihyun, Lee Soohyun, Jo Eunae, and Kim Seolhyun all take their opening position on the floor and then the music begins. It’s “Goodbye Baby” by the Brave Girls in all its glory.
Throughout the performance, Jisub maintains a neutral expression as he watches. The viewers can see that he’s been joined by Yoo Jaekyung once again but both are careful to keep their faces free of bias as they watch the repeated performance back to back. When the first group has finished, the CEO takes a moment to converse with Jaekyung quietly before writing down some notes on a pad in front of him. He waves to the producer, who in turn tells the audience to remain quiet as the girls are called forward to the stage.
Jisub takes a microphone that is handed to him and faces the first group with a warm smile. “Hello, ladies. How did that feel?” The lines around his eyes crease with a pleased appearance as he continues. “Overall, this was incredibly impressive. When I picked you four to group up together, I did so while knowing all of you are good enough to work well together -- and to boost up those who might be further behind.” He glances at Lee Jihyun and the camera follows, making it clear about which girl he’s referring to. “That being said… Jo Eunae.” Jisub turns to face the rapper with a more solemn gaze. “You’ve been a favorite of mine so far, yet it’s clear that you still have a long way to go with improving your onstage performance. Your rap is good -- could be better, but still good -- as well as your dancing, yet it appears to me that you struggle very clearly when you’re asked to do both together.” Jisub pauses, his face betraying his reluctance as he continues. “Unfortunately, it’s too amateur-looking for what I require. Eunae, you’ll be going to the ‘Bottom Three’ tonight.”
“Lee Jihyun,” he addresses the girl next. “Congratulations, you will take her place in Majors along with both Seolhyun and Soohyun, who are both safe in Majors as well. All three of you displayed an excellent show of talent as well as being able to keep up with the vocals and the choreography at the level I want to see. It’s a good sign, and all three of you should feel very happy with this performance.”
Jisub sets the microphone aside as the girls are asked by the producers to leave and make way for the second group. Nam Dawon, Kim Yubin, Jegal Seoyoung, and Lee Jieun join the stage and the previously shocked audience erupts into cheers as fan favorites appear. The staff waits for Jisub’s hand signal before the music and the performance begins. As before, the CEO watches the repeat performances with a critical eye for the condition of all the singers, the main rapper, and the overall group synchronization as “Over U” is performed twice for his observation.
When it’s over, the male exhales slowly and sits back in his seat. The audience murmurs loudly but no one can hear the exchange occurring between Jaekyung and So Jisub as they debate over these current four. It’s not until the girls are in their judgment positions at the front of the stage that the CEO picks up the microphone to speak for the second time. “Admittedly… this went a lot better than I thought,” he confesses with a small chuckle. “I meant for these concepts to challenge you all and, for some, I see it did.” He eyes Nam Dawon in particular, in which the camera also follows. “Dawon, as I said before: your voice is probably the best in this competition. Not everyone in a group needs to shine as the most charismatic, but you should at least have a great talent in order to make up for it. Dawon, every time you open your mouth to sing, I don’t think anyone can possibly focus on anything else but where it’s coming from. Because of that quality, it’s your right to join Major group.” He lets that sink in, to the answering applause of the audience, before switching his attention to the other girls.
“Jegal Seoyoung, you are also safe for this challenge. Your singing and dancing was well done, and I compliment the energy I saw onstage.” He hesitates again, wanting to delay the inevitable until Jaekyung gives him a meaningful look to continue. “Kim Yubin, I told you last week that I admired your experience in performing in front of a camera. Dealing with a wardrobe malfunction counts and I doubt many others actually noticed what went wrong there,” he notes with wry amusement. “That being said, you need to improve on your ability to dance while you perform a vocal part in a song. Breath control can be improved and I suggest you do so if only to better yourself as a performer. Until then, you may stay in Majors for now.” He looks to Lee Jieun next, and the choreographer sitting behind him visibly tenses in her seat. “Jaekyung insists I keep you here, Jieun, but… in all honesty, I can’t see a place in my girl group for a trainee who can only dance and nothing else. You’re good at what you do, without a doubt, but you must have another skill you can show me, Jieun, as your singing is not the level where it needs to be. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to ask you to be in the ‘Bottom Three’ tonight. Please wait with Eunae until later.”
Shouts of dismay follow his announcement but it’s soon swallowed up by louder cheers and applause when the third group of Jung Soojung, Park Chaeyoung, Ahn Hyojin, Yang Jiwon and Manoban Lalisa appears. The show keeps moving, staff buzzing around to prepare the stage and the signal given by the CEO when he’s gathered himself and is ready for the last group to take the stage. The music begins and there’s no hiding the concern on Jisub’s face now as he watches this final lineup do their best on perhaps the most energetic pick of the songs. H.A.M. is iconic for their feminine charm and energy and the girls he’d picked for this concept are quite the opposite: some are dull with their stage presence and others struggle with the quick-step choreography that takes them all around the stage.
By the time he picks up the microphone for the third time, So Jisub has already made peace with his decision. This time, Jaekyung doesn’t bother to interfere as the male leans forward to address all the girls with a polite smile. “I was perhaps the most unfair to you five,” he admits to them with a quiet laugh. “H.A.M. is a hard act to cover and I chose it already knowing most of you can’t dance well, or even sing at that level. Still, it was fun to try, right?” He turns his head to address Jung Soojung and Park Chaeyoung first. “Soojung and Rose, while you both still lack stage presence on a regrettable level, it’s undeniable to me, after watching this performance, that you both deserve to be in the Majors consideration. Not only can you both sing well, but I have also witnessed a noticeable improvement in your dancing for this stage. You are listening to my critiques and improving upon your weaknesses, which is something I appreciate greatly. Congratulations, you two may join the Major group.” Jisub switches focus to the last three and considers them all at length before finally continuing. “Jiwon, you are safe in Minor this week. While your singing was very good, you lack the ability to do so while dancing at the same time. Multitasking is hard for anyone, I know, but idols cannot do without this skill, Jiwon. I’ll ask you to continue working on it.”
“Elly, your rap part was very good this week,” he tells Ahn Hyojin kindly. “Despite lacking the fundamental basics of dance, it’s hard to ignore how distinct your voice is when it comes to your solo verse. No doubt you are the best-sounding rapper here and I’m inclined to keep you on because of it. You are safe in Minors. That means, Lisa,” he tells Manoban Lalisa with a regretful glance in her direction, “I’ll be seeing you in the ‘Bottom Three’ along with Jieun and Eunae. All three of you, please gather at the front of the stage.”
A break is given in real time on the filming day for the staff to clear out the studio audience for this private elimination. During this time when the cameras aren’t recording, the girls are allowed to be on stage together while adjustments are made by the crew in preparation for the “elimination” segment. No one at home gets to see the way the lights are changed behind the scenes, nor do they get to see the private moments the girls have with one another before the “five minute warning” is called. The stage manager tells the girls that only the remaining three contestants can be on the stage while the rest will be allowed to wait backstage in order to hear the results. When everyone is ready to continue, the lights of the cameras flash back on to focus on the trio of Jieun, Lisa, and Eunae. These three are positioned at the very front of the stage where they can see So Jisub clearly as he speaks to them from his familiar table in the center.
“This… is a decision I’ve wavered back and forth on for quite awhile,” Jisub confesses in a sincere tone. “I like all of you for different reasons. Each one of you brings something to the table I can’t find anywhere else: Eunae, who raps as well as she dances and possesses a natural charisma that’s hard to find elsewhere; Jieun, whose dance skill eclipses many and who has so much potential as a performer; and you, Lisa, who is the epitome of star quality. I’ve seen all three of you rise and fall to these past two challenges and it doesn’t make my choice any easier.” The CEO inhales deeply and then exhales on a quiet sigh.
“The one going home tonight… is Lee Jieun.” He looks directly at her and keeps his tone comforting, while controlled. “Jieun, right now, you are too focused in dance and, while I appreciate the level of skill in that you possess, it has unfortunately limited you on what else you can provide for a group’s balance. I don’t need just dancers, I need dancers who can also sing or rap or contribute something to a performance other than a few seconds of a dance break. Jieun, you have done well to make it this far and I know you will continue to improve yourself as a trainee in the future.”
Jisub looks to Lisa and Eunae next. “Lisa, you are safe because you already have made great strides in improving your stage skills even in this short time. I appreciate that kind of determination to change and I will be observing whether you keep up with it or not. Eunae,” he calls to the other and nods shortly, “As I said before, you have great potential, but you are lacking with your overall performance technique. Both of you will go to Minors this week and will hopefully come up with a way to win yourself a place in Majors after this next, even tougher challenge.”
The staff urges the rest of the girls waiting backstage to come out once So Jisub has finished his declaration. The CEO waits for them to gather together as group at the center of the stage before he stands up to his full height and addresses them all with a serious intent. “The producers have told me that many of you have grown fond of each other in these past few weeks, with budding friendships and becoming closer as teammates. I’m glad to hear it, of course, as the girls who survive this show will be friends, teammates, and colleagues who will have to weather the storm of public scrutiny together as soon as they debut. However…” Jisub looks at each girl in the eye before continuing firmly, “... you must remember that you are also competition here. Working together for this last challenge was fun as well as necessary, but now you must prove to me why you, and not another singer, or another rapper, deserves to be in the final group lineup. For the next time, you will go head to head in a one-to-one battle to take each other’s spots in the Major and Minor groups.”
End of episode.
EPISODE 3, Writing Prompt:
As So Jisub explained at the end of the episode, the time has now come for the contestants to prove their individual worth in a one-to-one battle challenge. With the numbers now even among the girls, each contestant will be assigned a competitor she will have to face off against for the next episode. Each contestant will have the total span of 3 minutes to perform whatever she would like to for her challenge performance. Singers aren’t limited to singing, rappers aren’t limited to rapping; no matter your skill-set, you may choose a variety of skills to show off or even just your strongest for So Jisub to decide how you measure up against your opponent. Regardless of current placements, only one girl in each pairing gets to Major while the other will go to Minor.
The assigned competitors are as follows:
Kim Yubin vs. Ahn Hyojin
Kim Seolhyun vs. Manoban Lalisa
Park Chaeyoung vs. Yang Jiwon
Lee Soohyun vs. Lee Jihyun
Nam Dawon vs. Jung Soojung
Jegal Seoyoung vs. Jo Eunae
You will be allowed to prepare for your challenge as you see fit in the days leading up to the filming to October 15th. You will only get to perform once for the cameras on that day but there will be plenty of time before then for costume fittings and a dress rehearsal prior to the filming time on the 15th. You will perform in the above chronological order, with Yubin being the first to perform her challenge, and Eunae being the last to perform. Also, as a special reward for having worked through the Chuseok holiday for the last challenge, the girls will be allowed two free days, October 12th-13th, to have their loved ones visit them at the dormitory complex.
For this episode’s writing opportunities:
Required: write a 300+ word performance solo about your muse performing her battle challenge. Optional: write a 300+ word preparation solo about any event leading up to the battle challenge. This can include rehearsals, costume fittings, dress rehearsals, etc. Optional: write a 250+ word interview with your muse reacting to the events unveiled during this episode. As before, you do not have to answer all of these, and you are allowed to come up with your own questions for this interview. However, all questions for this episode’s interview should relate to these following topics:
How do you feel about the results of the last episode?
What do you think is your biggest strength? Your biggest weakness
What do you think of your competitor? What would you like to say to her before your challenge?
How do you plan to show your skills better than your competitor?
The reward for writing the required solo is +10 SKILL POINTS TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS YOU WISH, +10 CHARISMA POINTS, and +5 DEBUT points, as well earning +1 week of a RELEVANT ACHIEVEMENT. Additionally, all girls will automatically receive +1 week VARIETY achievement for being present during Episode 3. Point forms will always be due the Wednesday after a deadline passes; this means for Episode 3, verification forms should be submitted after the Activity Check post on Wednesday, October 18th. These form dates have been added to the writing schedule, so refer to it periodically to make sure everything is being submitted on time!

“Allow Me To “Pt. 3
Plot: You’re a nurse at Seoul National University Hospital who meets an injured Taehyung (Series)
Pairing: Taehyung x Reader
Word Count: 3.7
Genre: Fluff, Comedy, Romance
Part 1:https://bts-jimin16.tumblr.com/post/160811019115/ill-protect-you-pt-1
Part 2:https://bts-jimin16.tumblr.com/post/161073693985/date-meplease-pt-2
Taehyung’s POV
The drive back to headquarters was filled with broad grins and giggles as countless flashes of the precious scene from before presented itself in my mind. ‘Who knew Jimin of all people would be right about this?’ I thought to myself, as another fit of giggles were released from my mouth. It surprised me to no end when Jimin’s plan worked out so flawlessly; he was even less experienced than I was. But no matter, the end result couldn’t be better. Losing the fight to stop a stupid looking grin from spreading across my face, I eagerly welcome the image of her reaction to my appearance; that startled look on her face when I confessed- well sort of- ignited fluttering sensations in my stomach that would spread to encase my entire being. The way her beautiful brown eyes widened, then soften as she nodded her head, a beautiful flush warming up her facials features. ‘We haven’t even had the date yet, much less are we an official couple, and I’m already whipped off my ass’ I sighed to myself, not really minding it at all. Pulling into the parking lot of our building, I hurriedly stepped out, hoping to avoid any traces of fans or reporters as I enter the lobby. Quickly making my way to the practice room, my insides jump at the opportunity to spill everything to Jimin when we’re alone. I cheerfully entered the room where, ironically, I would end up making countless mistakes because of my distracted mind.
Your POV
I stood still, shell shocked at what transpired just a few seconds ago. 'Was this for real? Did that actually just happen?’ I whispered myself in disbelief. Who would have thought, that THE Kim Taehyung, would have kept me on his mind, and what seems to be, in his heart. I could feel heat spread all through my face, right up to my ears, smiling stupidly at the door. A buzz snaps me out of my daze, signalling I had a text. Taking out your phone, you see 8 missed calls and 1 text from your best friend. 'Was I really so shocked that I missed all of this? Jiyeon is going to kill me’ I groaned to myself as I open her text.
Jiyeon
Yahh, are you dead? Where are you?? Why aren’t you here yet? Mirae, Jaekyung and Junghwa are all here. Hurry, we’re waiting on you.
You
Sorry, I’m still at my apartment complex, I was held up with a situation. I’ll head right there.
Jiyeon
You better tell me what this “situation” was about when you get here, I’m not playing with you.
You
Aishhh, arasseo, ARASSEO! See you in 30 minutes.
You walked into the café with a faint smile on your face, your eyes wander hoping to find your friends in the designated area. Your eyes light up instantly when you spot them, carefully weaving your way through the crowd and tables to make your way to them.
“Hey, guys! Sorry I’m late. Twas a little situation I had to handle” You said cheerfully, sitting down in between of Jaekyung and Jiyeon.
“What kind of situation, Unnie? You’re always busy at work so it’s rare that we get to hear these types of stories from you” Junghwa, the youngest and a financial analysis manager-in-training, asked eagerly. She was the youngest at 20 years old and I was barely older than her at 21 years of age. Jiyeon and Jaekyung both turned 22 earlier in the year, while Mirae was the oldest at 23. Junghwa had a childlike innocence about her; her eyes sparkled with curiosity and adventure and her smile was as sweet as rice syrup. However, her lean, willowy figure is what really tells her age. She stood at 5"7 making her the second tallest person among us. Jiyeon has a rebellious look to her, with her smoky eyes and dark red lipsticks. She stands at 5"9 making her the tallest of us all. Jaekyung was bright, bubbly and cheerful. Her smile could light up a room and her stories were to die for. She stood at 5"6 with legs to kill for. Mirae was the life of our group, her personality was sweet, yet fierce, she could be very seductive when she wanted, leading us to get free drinks whenever we hit the clubs together. She stood at 5"5 with very obvious curves. I, however was the more shy, studious, reserved one of the bunch. I’m told I appear cold to others, but I couldn’t be anymore lively with people I’m comfortable around.
“Let’s just say………I have a date set for tomorrow night!” I squealed, not even attempting to hide my excitement.
“WHATTTTT? YOUU??????? YOU HAVE A DATE????” They all exclaim in shock. I shoot my head back in offense.
“Yahh, do you guys really think it’s impossible for me to date out of my own free will?” I said, offense laced in every word I spoke.
“No, of course not! You just always seem so put off when ever Mirae Unnie sets you up with one of her male acquaintances. We just figured you weren’t ready to date.” Jaekyung said honestly, with a sheepish smile on her face.
“So who are you going out with? Was it someone I set you up with?” Mirae asked, totally absorbed in the situation at hand. 'Should I tell them? I mean we never hide anything in the group, but he’s an idol. It maybe dangerous if too many people knew. I’ll keep it to myself for now’ I though to myself before looking back at their eager faces.
“Let’s just say he’s someone I met a few weeks back that never left my mind.” I said gently, a soft smile stretching across my lips.
“Sooo, who wants to help me get ready?”
Tomorrow became today, and today, I was panicking. I was almost to the point of hyperventilation because I couldn’t find the right dress to wear. Jiyeon and Junghwa were both over to help me pick something, since Jaekyung and Mirae had to meet their boyfriends today. Speaking of Junghwa and Jiyeon, they were both raiding my closet trying to find something suitable for the date.
“Did he tell you what type of restaurant he’s taking you to? Or a possible dress code?” Junghwa asks, holding a pink pearl colored dress in one hand and a pair of gold flats in the other. Checking your phone you see a text from him.
Taehyung
Hey, it’s Taehyung. I’ll pick you up at 8 tonight, dress prettily :)
Don’t wait outside, I’ll text you when I’m there xx
“He didn’t really,he just said to dress prettily. I want to look nice and fancy, but not as if I tried really hard, you know?” I said, hoping they caught what I was throwing out.
“We got you covered, go shower, we’ll pick something out with jewelry and leave it on the bed. Junghwa will do your makeup when you’re done.” Jiyeon stated, pushing you to your bathroom. You took the time to do all the works; shaving your legs, applying a mask, using your favorite fruity body wash and shampoo, and at the end of it you painted your nails with a nail polish Jiyeon put in the bathroom. I exited the bathroom and went into my closet to put on my underwear before coming back out to take a seat in front of my vanity. While Junghwa worked her magic, Jiyeon put on my ring, bangles and earrings for me, before starting on my hair. When they signaled that they were finished, I turned and looked at my body mirror in shock. My chestnut colored hair cascaded down my back and chest in perfect ringlets, with a side part tucked behind my ear to show off my hoops. The jade colored dress complemented my skin tone in ways I never knew the color could. My makeup was simple with minimal eye shadow and a perfect wing, red lip tint and a soft pink blush. The bangles jiggled as I lifted my hand to touch my hair, showcasing the thin gold band lined with diamonds on my fore finger. On my feet were a pair of 4 inch pumps, black with a gold bow on the toes. To put it simply, I looked beautiful, more beautiful than I’ve ever looked. After promising to text them about how the date went later tonight, Junghwa and Jiyeon left me in my apartment. Now, to wait for his text.
Taehyung’s POV
I’m nervous. Very nervous. To say I’m nervous is an understatement by now. After consulting Jimin on what to wear, since he’s the only one aware of my plans for the night, I donned a dark grey dress shirt, leaving the first two buttons undone, a black dress pants, dark silver dress shoes and a single gold necklace hidden underneath my shirt. I had just sent off the text that I was here to Y/N. I couldn’t wait to see what she looked like. Five minutes later, I heard a ding. My eyes gravitated towards the elevator when I hear the doors close and walking towards me was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen in my life. Her hair gave off this luscious shine that made me want to run my hands through it and quite possibly ruin her perfect curls. Her dress clung to the right places and then flared off at the bottom to give a wider effect around her hips. Seeing her in heels sent shivers down my spine. Her makeup was simple, yet sophisticated, and her jewelry was kept to a minimum. All in all, she was fucking gorgeous. The clicking of her heels stopped as she halted 5 spaces in front of me.
“You….. you’re so beautiful, I’m actually lost for words right now.” I said, not even batting an eyelid. She lowered her head when she blushed, before biting her lip and making eye contact with me.
“You look great too.” She spoke softly, a hint of a smile on her lips while her eyes fully grinned at the sight before them.
“We should get going, so we don’t miss our reservations.” I said kindly, holding my hand out for her to take. If she was shocked by my bold move, she didn’t show it as she grabbed my hand confidently, trailing a step behind me as I lead us to the front entrance. I open the car door for her, before shutting it and walking around to the driver’s seat.
“So, where are we going?” She asked, curiosity laced in her question. I smiled and shrugged, trying not to give anything away.
“I guess you’ll see when we get there” I said, chuckling when I saw her pout.
Your POV
Sitting here, in this elegant yet homely restaurant, in front of someone I could never have thought would take a look in my direction, much less be attracted to me, brought me to realize how fortunate I was to be here with not, Kim Tae Hyung, V of BTS but Taehyung, the sweetest person I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and although this is my first time really getting a feel of what kind of person he is, I could already tell he was a gentle soul. 'When you’ve been on a hell of a lot of blind dates, reading personalities becomes second nature to you’ I thought, amused.
Looking up from the menu, my eyes automatically drifted to the beautiful human being before me. His facial features were mesmerizing.'How could someone be this good looking?!’ I questioned. His face was perfectly symmetrical, his eyes were the most calming chocolate brown and his light brown hair was perfectly tousled. 'I wonder if it’s as soft as it looks…..?’ I murmured, resisting the urge to reach across the table and tangle my fingers in his tresses.
Looking up at me, he silently smirks as he catches me relentlessly staring at him. Immediately I looked down, blushing after being caught in the act. I look up as the waiter came to ask for our orders. I quickly look down at the menu, realizing that while I was busy observing him, I forgot to even open the menu. Quickly shifting my eyes over the options, I choose a dish I’m fairly familiar with.
“I’ll have the fillet mignon with a medley of pan roasted vegetables” I spoke smiling politely at the waiter as he wrote down my order.
“And what about you, Sir?” He asked Taehyung looking in his direction.
“I’ll have the same” He replied, his gaze moving from the menu to fixate on me.
I watched the waiter retreat into the back of the restaurant before I snapped my head back at the unbelievably attractive man sitting across from me.
“You’re a bit different aren’t you, Y/N?” Taehyung inquired, a teasing smile threatening to spread across his face. My eye brows furrowed together as I send a questioning gaze in his direction.
“Most girls, when their on a first date with someone, would stick to side salads and soups” he replied, a broad smile breaking out on his face.
“Was I supposed to? Order a salad or soup, I mean.” You ask, confused and slightly embarrassed that you showed him the full potential of your appetite this early on. His laugh echoed through my ears, making me all the more confused.
"No, you weren’t. It’s always a pleasant surprise when a girl does try to hide her appetite from you" he said, smiling gently in your direction.
“So tell me about yourself Y/N.” He said, striking up conversation when he realized I wasn’t saying anything.
“Well, as of last September, I’m a full time resident nurse at Seoul National University Hospital, where I treat patients in the VIP ward and on occasion,“ I lean over the table slightly, signalling him to come closer. When he’s close enough I whisper ” I cross-dress as male idols, but only in my free time.“ I finish, a broad smile on my face as he bursts out in a fit of laughter.
“You’re cheeky, aren’t you?” He states, laughter still shining in his husky voice. You wink in reply, which sends him into another fit of giggles.
“So now that I know the works of your job, whats your family like. Your mom, dad and if you have any, siblings, what are they like?” He asked and for a spilt second, I freeze up. My family background wasn’t something I liked to flaunt around, no matter how amazing it sounds to others. My grandfather is the chairman of DaeMyung & CO, an electronics company which has been handed down in my family for almost 30 years. It is also where my father works as the CEO and my brother as the CFO. I didn’t exactly like talking about this fact in public, because it tends to attract the wrong kind of attention. As a result, all throughout my college years I used my mother’s family background, in hopes to survive without having my family’s company image loom over me. 'I’ll just tell him the watered down version of it. If he sticks around, the rest will naturally unfold’ I convince myself.
“My parents really are the world’s most, loving, protective, sheltering parents. I have almost zero bad memories about my upbringing. I was always surrounded by love and affection. My dad officially doted on me the most so I got away with almost everything” I paused, chuckling at the fond memories. “ My mom, although she doted on my brother more, gave me just as much attention as my father did. I had a very happy childhood.” I finished, looking up to see him smiling fondly at me.
“It’s really nice to see how you talk about your parents. It really shows how much you care for them. What about your brother?” He asks, before taking a sip of his water. Smiling, I respond.
“My brother, Yiseok, has been a pain in my backside for as long as I remember” I said jokingly, my objective achieved when I heard him chuckle. “But really, we have a normal sibling relationship. Older sibling teases and bullies younger sibling, younger sibling beats older sibling to a pulp.” I said proudly, remembering all the times I laid him on his back when we were kids.
“He’s 26, works at DaeMyung & CO and recently got engaged this year. It’s safe to say his life way more put together in comparison to mine” I chuckled to myself thinking back to my mother and how she’s basically pushing me to hurry up and get married.
“Why are you so amused by the fact that your brother is getting married?” Taehyung asked me with a questioning look on his face.
“It’s funny because now that he’s engaged to be married, it’s like my parents are trying to ship me off” I snort.
“Oh” he said frowning “Don’t you want to get married?” He asked looking a bit disappointed.
“Of course I do, at some point in the future. It’s a dream of mine to have a family before I turn 27, so getting married isn’t the problem.” I said, reassuringly.
“You seem like you have everything planned out.” He said with a smile that made the skin around eye his wrinkle.
“I wouldn’t exactly say that but I do know what I want.” I said honestly returning his smile.
“Here’s your orders. I hope you enjoy your meal.” The waiter said as he came back with our food interrupting my thoughts. We both thanked him and dug in. It was unbelievably delicious.
“Wow, the food is really good” I stated putting another forkful into my mouth.
“It is” he agreed. “ Jimin actually recommended this place, guess he does have good taste.” He chuckled to himself as if he doubted his friend.
“Ohh, he really does. What are the members like and how are your schedules? If you don’t mind me asking..” I asked curiously, hoping for a response.
“I don’t mind” he said with a smile “They’re all children.” He chuckles before he continues” They all have distinctive traits that set aside their personalities from the rest. In all honesty, if I were a normal person, I’d easily say that we work way too much for persons our age. But we’re all used to it, the flying back to back, the 8 hour dance practices and 6 hours booth schedules. It’s apart of our daily lives now.“ he replied looking down at his food playing with it with his fork.
I felt a little bad for him and the other members, being busy all the time, moving from one place to another all the time and rarely ever having any free time for themselves.
“I kind of wish you’d have more free time….maybe that way I’d see you more” I said, murmuring at the sentence. I looked up, keeping eye contact with his wide eyes. We continue to eat in silence for the rest of the meal. It wasn’t long before we were in his SUV heading back to my apartment complex.
“During our meal, you said that getting married wasn’t the problem. If it isn’t then what is?” Taehyung asked, curious. You sighed before directing your gaze you his side profile.
“It’s mainly because I’ve never really dated. You see, while I was in college, I focused all my efforts on getting ahead of my year, graduating early, getting out into the field of work and just not on things a girl my age would be directing their interests in. This lead to me being forced on blind dates by my friends, none of the guys, by the way, I genuinely liked. My last proper relationship ended when I was 16. As a result I’ve been distant from forming relationships. I like to think it’s kind of sad for a girl in her youth, like me, to not have any reliable dating experience, but that’s how it turned out for me.” I paused before clasping my hands together in my lap.
“That, however doesn’t stop me from hoping that one day, I’ll be able to give my heart freely to someone I love and receive their heart in return.” I finished quietly, looking down at my clasped hands. After a few moments of silence, Taehyung breaks it.
“Allow me to.” He said abruptly. My gaze returned to his side profile, as he parks his car in the guests parking lot in front of my apartment complex.
“Allow me to steal your heart. Let me give you mine in return. Give me the pleasure of showing you what adult love should look and feel like” he finishes, shifting his body to meet my gaze.
