Brandon+Alex
There aren’t enough words to fully explain how much I love shooting weddings.
I am incredibly selective about which ones I shoot. And I’m thorough in the planning process. This includes a dinner a week or so before the big day to go over everything. Alex & I took care of that the Monday before the big day.
Jason Squared and I arrived in Hannibal on Thursday night so I could get settled in. My myriad of battery chargers were set up, and I cleaned my gear. I learned quickly I would find Mark Twain…aka Samuel Clemens EVERYWHERE.
Friday morning we headed to the Rialto to check out the space. I knew I wouldn’t get to see it before the ceremony, so this was necessary. A girl’s got to have a plan. Again. I'm thorough.
The space was being decorated for another event, but I got what I needed. All my favorite things would be doable.
After I went mural chasing, we drove to Brandon’s chosen park, I made a plan for the big day and a timeline. I knew if we were to get sunset shots, I would have to stick to the plan. I needed the wedding party to be on board.
Then came the rehearsal at Central Park. The fall leaves were gorgeous, and the bandstand created the perfect backdrop.
The wedding party learned I didn’t play, and realized why I was brought in from Saint Louis.
Then it was time for dinner. We ate. We drank. The Mother of the Bride gave the best speech describing Alex and Brandon’s love.
Their love is a sweet one that started during the Pandemic. Alex thought she’d give Facebook Dating a try, and only messaged Brandon. Brandon told her, at that moment, he was listening to what would be their recessional song "Renegade" by Styxx....which she had referenced in her profile. Listening to this story on the wedding day, I knew it was just magical enough to be true. Brandon couldn’t make that up. And he sure wouldn’t lie about it.
He proposed on a Bingham family trip to Ireland. The wedding reflected that trip: a ring-warming ceremony. A guardian of those rings, complete with a Celtic sword and dagger. The wedding was so "them."
To add another touch of them, there was a ring bear. Roar.
I sure fell in love with the bridesmaids. They understood their role.
To be frank, at times, the groomsmen drove me nuts. But they wormed warmed their way into my heart by the end.
Alex has two sets of parents, and both of those guys at the first look. Then the moms. Y’all. C'mon!
Watching Rob, Alex’s Dad, officiate the ceremony, warmed my heart to no end. He loves that girl.
And Brandon sure does, too. This is the moment I lost it.
After the “I do’s” we made our way to Riverview Park. A spot special to Brandon, and it provided an absolutely BEAUTIFUL view of the river.
The wedding party played along nicely as I did my thing making sure to capture the magic that was the day.
Then we partied. Boy, did we party. Brandon & Alex hadn’t practiced the first dance at all which would be to “Satellite” by Guster.
Rob & Alex boogied to “Sweet Child of Mine.”
Brandon & his gorgeous Mama Veronica swayed to “Mama Said.”
The cousins opened the dance floor with the Cupid Shuffle.
And the dance floor was hot for the rest of the night.
Alex’s Mama is one of my dear, dear friends. One of my besties. So, I have had a front seat to this love story from the beginning.
I remember when they found each other. Everyone knew Brandon was it. I would hear stories and say, “That’s not boyfriend stuff, that’s a future husband move.” I feel like we have talked about this wedding forever.
And here we are. They are married. The day was absolutely spectacular.
So many sweet memories. Then some memories that will make for great stories. Who knew it would take my going to a Hannibal wedding to witness a homeless man crashing a reception? And, to top it off, the Best Man dropped his pants and got down next to him.
Just another Saturday in the life of a wedding photographer.
Congratulations to one of my favorite couples.
Getting to capture this day was an honor. I laughed. I cried. I danced. I drank far more tequila than I’m used to these days. And I ended the night forever grateful for Aunt Charlene.
I’m incredibly thrilled for you two. Remember a good debate makes things fun. But, sometimes you do have to just go to bed after an argument. You can be right or you can be happy. Keep things sweet and respectful, as you already do.
Love you both. Big.

With my new job, I find my brain done by the time I get home. This meant that our vacation photos got put on the backburner. Tonight I made myself sit down to knock them out. This day of the vacation, without going into a lot of details, I was, in a word, annoyed. Plus, it was raining. And it was that stupid rain. The one where it never more than drizzles, and it just makes you want to stay inside and be. When I got to these shots, I was taken back. By the time we got to the Magnolia Plantation, I was more than done. There were only self-guided tours on the grounds. The last thing I wanted to do was walk around and stare at a bunch of flowers. Did I mention the stupid rain? “God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.” Martin Luther. This was the third time this quote clicked for me. Oahu was first, and Death Valley area was second. Thankfully I have these pictures. I have been told I don’t give myself enough credit. But, these left me speechless, and I was a little proud I was able to capture them. Places like this make me just stop and wonder how anyone could not believe in our Creator. Something so beautiful couldn’t just appear, it requires something bigger. Praise God for His Creation. Two lessons came from today. 1) You will never regret taking too make pictures. They’re important. Whether it's reliving those memories. Or the day you just weren’t there, you can still go back and be a part. 2) Do not let a little rain steal your day. Whether it is a physical storm or just some nonsense. Do not let it take your joy. You might miss something you needed to be present for.

It blows my mind that a week ago, I was eating sushi in my Louisville hotel reflecting on the previous pretty impactful 72 hours.
As I was physically preparing to go… Getting Jase lined up. As his social secretary, I had forgotten how much I wrangled. Poor Jason got a taste of that. I had made sure Jason Squared was set up for success. (BIG thanks to my girls Britney and Dea for making sure my absence wasn’t a freaking crater, but a mere hiccup).
I was also having a mental battle. Imposter syndrome is a complete jerk. It is a liar. It is a thief. And he’s loud and obnoxious. So, I just kept repeating to myself, “You deserve to be there.” Over and over. Rinse and repeat.
After crashing at my grandparents, I made my way to Louisville, KY Saturday afternoon with high hopes for ImagingUSA. As high as my hopes were, the results were bigger.
Ive been a little stuck for a bit. There has never been a doubt photography had my heart and was what I was meant to be doing. But, I knew there was more. I needed a little oomph.
I had been asked to teach. I had been asked for mentorship. And I couldn’t put my finger on what that would look like.
Every time I would brainstorm, an idea would come up. I’d immediately be like, “I don’t want to do that.”
Another idea…nope. “I don’t want to do that.”
Everything was just muddy. And there were days I was faking it until I made it. Successfully, but I knew I had more to give.
Then I attended these classes. Met new friends who were doing magical things all over the country. And then some big ideas came. 💡!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
I sat in these classes, learning from experts, and I heard things that I drilled into my branding clients. And I got to pick these experts’ brains at the end of each class. I heard encouragement. I heard validation. There was an instance, I had actually said to one, “I don’t think I need to be teaching.” About 20 minutes later I was chatting with a photographer who had been in my class. I was mentoring him. Challenging him. Then the teacher walked by, and he laughed, “Yeah. You’re right. You have no business teaching anyone.” Sarcasm was dripping from his words. That lit a fire in me that I cannot explain.
I have never been more clear on what I had to offer. What made my heart sing. How to make magic of my own continue to happen.
I’m so excited to reintroduce myself in the coming weeks. Tweak my website with the help of the best in the business. Provide resources to small businesses to keep thriving. Walk beside my fellow business owners to make sure they have a winning brand. And, of course, fall in love with new families, and continue capturing the stories of my current families.
I’m so grateful to the rockstars who spoke truth over me on a regular basis. Who called me on my nonsense. I’m grateful to the local chickadee who recognized I had no business walking back to my hotel, and gave me a ride. And made sure I knew I had someone if I needed them. And I know that hasn’t changed now that I’m back in my Lou.
Business owners - find some time to get away. Somewhere you can learn. Be challenged. Connect with those in the thick of it just like you. There’s a quote I love by Jane Howard, “"Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one." And you deserve it.
Louisville is a fabulous place. I can’t wait to get Jason Squared back for our own long weekend. I loved seeing so much Kentucky Wildcat swag in Cards Country. It made me giggle. Folks were kind. Food was fabulous. And it was easy to navigate….which coming from me, says a lot.
I’m so grateful for the changes coming. I’m ready to change some lives.
Wake up. Praise Jesus. Shop Local. Repeat.
Here's my week in a nutshell #ImagingUSA

Joe + Jon
St. Louis is still a little confused on what season it is. Some of the leaves are revolting on changing. The weather is warm, with a slight breeze.
Saturday’s high was supposed to be 65 degrees, but it got up to 78. I knew my grooms would be wearing snazzy custom suits, and I worried they would be sweating big.
Then I stepped outside and felt that glorious breeze.
I made my way to one of my favorite STL City neighborhoods: Shaw.
Upon parallel parking like a champ, I was greeted by Jon. He looked incredibly handsome in a custom burgundy suit. Joe followed behind him in his green one. I gushed a little too much.
They gave me the dime tour, and I went inside to be greeted by an excited bunch. Both gents’ families patiently waited as we got organized, and then we were off to the Compton Hill Reservoir.
We knocked out some family pictures.
Then the boys lead me up to Jon’s favorite spot, and we let them be extra cute for a bit.
Then we met the sweetest crew of framily. They blended their love and razzing equally. And unintentionally coordinated outfits in a beautiful way.
Then it was time to get this party started. What a way to celebrate a year of marriage.
In true pandemic fashion, Joe and Jon had a St. Louis elopement at the St Louis Wedding Chapel on Broadway. The original plan was to redo their ceremony, but it ended up being complete perfection for them. So, a grand Mardis Gras themed party became the plan instead.
And, let me tell you: the good times rolled.
Guests arrived to their backyard to a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeurvres. Correction. Delicious passed hors d’oeuvres. And of course there were signature cocktails: Naked & Famous, Coffee Negroni, and a fabulous Autumn Sangria.
So much love and joy filled the fall’s hottest party in South City. When I met with the boys, Jon told me that nobody made the guest list unless they were beating down the door to be there. They wanted fun. They wanted framily. They wanted this night to be nothing but a celebration.
And that is exactly what they got.
In true Mardis Gras fashion, a shrimp and crawfish boil were served alongside hushpuppies, cornbread, and jambalaya. The spice was just perfection.
Then the dancing. Y’all. This crew was such a blast. No dumb wedding dances here. Just a bunch of friends who made sure to get babysitters ready to party with their favorite couple.
This is one I will remember forever.
Custom suits, Gucci loafers, and Christian Louboutin shoes. AKA “bloody bottom” shoes, per Joe’s sister.
My being a walking disco ball. Or so I was told.
The perfect toast from a bestie.
A precious one from a sister.
Having Joe’s Mama say, “Hey, bestie,” each time I came up to her.
Getting to dance hard.
Phil going in the pool.
Jon & Joe…thank you for trusting me with this day. I ADORE how y’all love each other. The life you both have built…you just deserve it all.
Joy and love surround you, because that is what you throw like Mardis Gras beads to the world. Getting to shoot this day (and your “engagement” session) was an honor. I’m even more thrilled to know I have made new friends. Much love to you both. I’m calling y’all for a sushi night after I survive this fall. Love you both. BIG.

Madison Smith is one of my dear, dear friends. Besties, if you will.
There is a lot I could say about why I’m friends with this girl, but I’ll save that for another day. We both love shopping on the interwebs, and locally. Back during the pandemic, my friend downloaded this dating app called Hinge. Of all the things she has found on the internet, this soon-to-be preacher boy named Isaiah is her favorite.
Over cold sandwiches in Lafayette Square Park on a bench; their love story began while attempting to social distance.
Maddie is incredibly decisive, so she knew he was “the one” right away. I remember the first time I met him, I was told to be nice. No grilling.
For a while, I called him every Biblical name, but Isaiah, and he laughed every time. The day I met him, I knew we were stuck with him. And I was so grateful. Nobody loves our girl like this guy. And, he immediately loved my boy.
Fast forward to a chilly St. Louis day in March, Isaiah proposed. It was perfectly planned, overlooking the park bench that started it all. Plus, so many of the family members that I would celebrate with this weekend, too. Including two college besties and should have been Miss America who would be bridesmaids.
Then came THE weekend. When I arrived to the rehearsal at Graham Chapel on Washington University’s campus, I found this couple I adore in coordinating Hanboks.
We were given the one Jase would wear as the ring bearer for the ceremony. If you’ve been a follower for a while, you know I’m a sucker for teal and purple. You might be thinking, of course, she and Maddie are friends.
After a few walk-throughs and a few pep talks from your favorite red-haired photographer....
....we headed off to Maggiano’s.
Ms. Paula was right. The zucchini was worth thinking about all day.
Food was enjoyed. Gifts were exchanged... including a special lambie and pair of dinosaurs.
Thanks were given to the families and the wedding party.
Then it was time to rest for the BIIIIIG DAY!
As the bride didn’t want a late night, the day started early. Homewood Suites was the home base for the bridal party.
The girls were loud. They were excited. And they were beautiful.
Especially Maddie. Seeing her dress made me sob. Seeing her IN that dress took my breath away.
I will still never get over Maddie saying, “Those lashes. We decided on the vavoom. They were nice, but a little more Rhianna.”
After hair and makeup…and lashes… were nailed, it was time for a first look with the bridesmaids. Maddie took their breath away, too.
Then it was Emerson’s turn. AKA Maddie’s Daddy. This was one of my top moments for the day. If you know Maddie, you know she ADORES her Daddy. If you know Emerson, there is no one he loves more than his girls.
Then we all scurried off to Graham Chapel. Ms. Paula got her turn to see her beautiful daughter, and get a veil on that bride.
I met up with the groom and the fellas.
I thought I was going to have bleed again for a wedding, but thanks to the Wedding Krugh, the boutonnieres had magnets! Seriously…put magnets on your boutonnieres!
Questions were answered. Things got sorted. A bride asked the time every 3-5 minutes because she was ready to go. A precious ring bearer and a totally gorgeous flower girl played hard.
Is he not the cutest ringbearer ever? No? Just me? Shooting this wedding, and rangling my own kid was a job in itself. Thank God for Jason. I digress.
I prayed over each of my friends then we got the show on the road
Maddie’s childhood pastor married them and helped create the most sassy....
Ahem..perfect ceremony. Yes, I cried.
Then we partied. We danced. We toasted. We had the most delicious cake. We danced. Anniversaries were celebrated. Advice given. This couple was celebrated fiercely.
I am grateful for the vendors I worked with this weekend. We literally became a magical team having never met. Everyone stayed in their lane and accomplished our #1 goal: to create a night of a lifetime for our couple. Mission accomplished.
DJ: Chris Abell
Coordination/Flowers: The Wedding Krugh
Wedding Venue: Benjamin Brown Graham Chapel
Reception Venue: The Majorette
Maddie and Isaiah, I am so grateful for you both. Keep growing the love and respect you have already established. As I prayed over you both, I wish Colossians 2 for you. Keep making Hell nervous as you build a marriage that glorifies Him. I love you both and adore how you love each other. You still owe me a dinner.

Toni+Justin
Saturday I got to witness the makings of a fairy tale.
I found my way to Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, IL May. 20, 2023. I accidentally found myself in the middle of a dance competition full of hairspray and glitter. Thankfully the signs directed me to where I was meant to be.
There I met a precious bride with her own sparkle who had just been asked by a tiny dancer if she was a real princess. Yes. The answer is yes.
As we started to head inside, Justin, her prince, came riding up in a chariot disguised as a pickup.
For the record…he did not see the bride. You hear me?
You could feel the anxiety and anticipation just standing next to Toni. Once the first look happened - all that melted away.
They are purely adorable.
You take a prince and princess, and you add in the cutest chickadees to wear flower girl dresses.
Add in some ring security.
A wedding party that is more family than friends.
Then you get this party started, and get Toni and Justin down that aisle.
This wedding was pure sweetness.
Between the vows.
The dances with the Mamas.
A dance with a Dad that was just their style.
Every detail Toni planned showed a love that will only continue to grow.
It was an honor to photograph this wedding. I take great pride in being able to serve the heroes of our world who serve us. Toni is a rockstar nurse. Justin keeps us safe as a firefighter. This makes Toni a double hero, now as a firefighter's wife.
Their reception was so full of fun.
There was so much love in this room.
Toni and Justin, I just love how y'all love each other. Keep dancing.
Dipping.
It was an honor to capture your day. Thank you for trusting me with your love story.

Keith+Lily
There are times I meet with clients, and I know they’ll be special. Know they’re going to be stuck with me forever.
These are the clients that are just fun. During their consult, Keith told me about his custom-built chopper. Two of his groomsmen had them, too. A chopper is a fabulous motorcycle, for those who don’t know.
I knew they had to hire me. Thankfully they did.
So, on May 6th, 2023 I found myself at Lily’s sister Ashley’s house. Lily was getting her makeup done by the brilliant Amanda Holt. If you’re getting makeup done, you should call her.
I immediately felt like one of the girls. One was dealing with her hubby being a tool. Others were getting ready. The mother of the groom was gushing over her daughter-to-be. And the one she already had.
All of the girls were to wear cowboy boots. Bride, too.
But, she decided a super glam pair would work better with her dress. Her stunningly brilliant dress. It fit her perfectly.
Seriously....look at that dress.
After the girls were ready to go, I made my way to Andre’s on Telegraph.
The guys were drinking Busch and smoking cancer sticks. You may call them cigarettes. They were ready to get the party going. Custom boutonnieres with bullets were made by the groom and friends the night before. They were perfection.
Then the bride circled the parking lot, so we got the groom hidden. By the dumpster was the best Andre’s had to offer by the back ballroom.
Lily was blessed with fabulous godparents who love her dearly. And a first look with Aunt & Uncle KK was in order.
Then it was time to get everyone down the aisle.
This was the shortest ceremony I have ever witnessed. And I have done courthouse weddings. By the time Lily's new bonus son Dalton figured out his fly was down, the ceremony was over shortly after. While the ceremony was short it was full of laughter and love. Just like Keith and Lily.
And it ended with a…boy howdy did it end with a kiss.
We made our way to Cliff Cave Park. I yelled at the wind. Kept having to scream at the sun to get behind the clouds. Got annoyed with folks who thought it was fine to walk behind our photos. Don’t be that person. Seriously. Do better.
My day was made when we got this photo.
Just when the locals wedding guests were about to lose it, we found our way back to Andre’s. After dinner we got the party started.
The speeches were precious.
A sister who adores her baby sister.
A best man who was more than just a friend, he’s family.
A yummy cake was cut.
A speed round of photos taken with guests. And the party really got started.
We danced. Boy, did we dance.
Lily and Keith…. I love how you love each other. I’m grateful to capture your love story. More so, I’m grateful to have two new friends. You have an amazing tribe. Keep loving each other and that sweet boy. Congratulations!

Happiest Place on Earth
I really love weddings. Like LOVE LOVE. A lot. Not all photographers feel this way.
There are so many things I love about them. But, mostly I love that each one is different. Each of the partners to be have a unique story. And I get to try and capture that story.
Tonight, I feel like I got to witness the 2019 version of the Brady Bunch really become official. They are so fun. There’s a diva of a daughter. And three boys who are wild in their own way. And then there’s Mom and Dad. And they love each other. More than I love weddings. Which is a lot, in case you missed that part.
Every year I give away a family session. I pick a different “theme” each year. Foster families was one year. A family that just needed it another. This year veterans were laid on my heart. Amos was nominated and became the first unanimous vote I have ever had.
Turns out he was marrying this beautiful girl. She was amazing. Funny. An incredible Mom. I mean…that’s how I heard it from Amos. And they were merging this crew. His two, and her two. So, we got to talking about his session, and then I realized he didn’t have a wedding photographer. So, I made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Or at least that’s what Amos said.
Their vows brought me to a mushy place.
Promises were made to love each child in their home as their own. Seek adventure with each other and to hold his hand. Recognition that he loves her so much he built her a coop because she found a chicken cross the road. Recognition she was immaculately designed for him.
She is his home, and he is her shelter. Promise of love and devotion forever more.
Admit it. You’re all mushy now, too.
One of the cutest moments of the night was the “announcement” they made to their kiddos. Each kid got a bag with their first initial on it. They were told to open them, and what was inside was a clue to the announcement.
Blaine, in all his glory, looked at Kayly and said, “Are we going to Disney World?” When he got the “yes,” he jumped. And then he jumped. And he jumped some more.
This blended Brady Brunch crew leaves for Disney World in a few days. And I almost suckered my way into going. But, social worker. Baby stuff. Adulting. Blah blah blah.
Things I learned tonight. Kayly’s parents were celebrating 42 years of marriage. And I so get it. They are two of the sweetest folks I’ve ever met.
Any wedding with quite a few kids should have a balloon artist. Though, it does create for random balloon pops that almost made me jump out of my skin.
Earthbound is one of my favorite venues in StL. Ok, I knew this, but it was worth saying.
Lastly, Amos sure loves Kayly. And she absolutely loves him back. And they REALLY like smooching on each other.
They had a globe that read “Let the Adventure Begin” as their card holder thing. (Brilliant idea, for the record). And I truly believe that is what started today. An adventure.
Amos and Kayly, I have never had a couple who loves one another like you two do. And it is so precious. And as you take on your next adventure, I hope this Irish Proverb follow you. "May your joys be as deep as the valley. Your troubles as light as its foam. And may you find sweet peace of mind. Wherever you may roam."
Big love to you both. Enjoy the happiest place on Earth!!

Right on time.
I sure love an October wedding.
So, let’s talk about one.
Let’s start with a hotel room filled with a fun version of chaos, and a cluttered bed.
A bride crew that literally catered to every need of this wedding.
A dress so beautiful, it takes your breath away.
A surprise cake we’ll find later at the reception, we’ll eventually get to.
Let’s throw in some Dads who sure love their kids.
And the Moms. Well, duh.
A daughter who has a new bonus Dad who has stepped up in huge ways.
A toddler that is less than cooperative, but cute as a button.
Then sprinkle it with a bride and groom who clearly became best friends first, and fell in love along the way. And have a tribe that loves them fiercely.
Then throw in some killer dance moves.
You get an October wedding to remember. But, most importantly, you get a foursome that is going to live happily ever after.
Lacy and Patrick asked me to capture this amazing day. I learned quickly there was time, and then there was Lacy time. We made it (in Lacy time) to St. Theodore Church in O’Fallon that was almost as picturesque as our bride.
After a beautiful Catholic mass full of laughter, love, and faith, the groom got to kiss his bride.
Then we partied.
And, yes, we partied.
We made our way to the Quarry Wine Garden in Wentzville. Wendy Fitter of Unleashed Music and Events had such a great music list that she even had the bartenders dancing.
The reception ended with a surprise hot air balloon off in the distance.
Every detail of this wedding was splendid.
Lacy and Patrick, I wish you the happily ever after you deserve. You are an amazing couple. Keep having fun, laughing at one another, and searching for joy. But, most importantly, keep dancing. And, Patrick, close those cabinet doors!
Congratulations! Thank you for trusting me with capturing your love story.
I am already booking weddings through 2024. Click here to contact me about capturing your love story.

Sarah+Marty: the one where my best friend gets married.
Yesterday my best friend got married. And I didn’t have to sit through getting makeup done. No bridesmaid's dress. Her sister got to do all that.
The rest of us girls got to do what we love best. Help our girl. With cookies. And hummus. Random runnings. And pictures. I got to do that last one, obviously.
(Don’t mind the photobombing by the groom.)
This wedding screamed my people. A simple ceremony on the patio of a fabulous St. Louis Brewery (shoutout to Earthbound for a killer space). Sarah was as elegant as can be in her Vera Wang. Picture if Jack Kennedy told Jackie to channel a little Marilyn. That was my girl.
Marty in his custom suit couldn’t have been more handsome.
And the way he looked at our girl.
It took my breath away. I love the way they love each other.
The day started with Dusty slaying the girls’ hair. Johna glammed the girls’ makeup.
Starbucks was ordered before some got too adorable. The vibe was chill. The tunes were perfection. And then we made our way to Earthbound.
A first look was to be had, and Sarah wanted to be in the middle of Cherokee Street. So, I got them in the middle of Cherokee Street in front of the Cinderella building. Obviously.
After the shortest ceremony ever, Oliver’s parents were married.
And then we partied and celebrated everyone’s favorite couple.
Getting trusted to shoot a wedding is never a task I take lightly. But, doing it for two of my dearest friends left me in tears for most of the day.
I’m over the moon for you, Sarah and Marty. May you always be each other’s shot of bourbon, talk derby to one another, and do things your own way. I love you big!

Clark+Nicole
I love a good story. And I sure love a wedding. I was given the pleasure and trust to join Clark & Nicole New Year’s Eve to capture their love story. They wanted a simple day full of family and love.
I joined the party in Alton on the main strip. It was them, maid of honor Cheri, a few friends, and Clark’s three fabulous kids: Morgan, Andrew, and Izzy.
Clark and Nicole got together just before the pandemic shut everything down. And on the book end of 2021, they promised forever. They knew they had to start 2022 with one another.
So, we made our way around Alton...
Then to Nicole’s alma mater of Lewis & Clark College....
And then the church where she grew up...
Each shoot bubble was similar. Seamless. A lot of telling Clark to look at me instead of Nicole.
But, who can blame him? Look at her.
What does a simple day full of family and love look like?
Three “moms” who have always been there.
A crew of folks planning an exquisite meal to go with a table full of pies, and an fabulous cake crafted by the BRIDE. An exquisite set-up by this same crew.
A Pastor who has watched the bride’s story unfold.
Three kiddos that adore their Dad.
A small gathering of framily that truly love them most.
A ceremony that lasts under 20 minutes so full of Jesus, truth, and Promise.
Clark and Nicole, I wish you all the happiness and joy. May your love continue to saturate your every step.
Did you say "YES!" over the holidays? I'm your girl! Let's chat about capturing YOUR love story.

Austin+Steven
It all started with a Facebook post that a sweet friend tagged me in. And then the three of us got stuck with one another.
On October 9, 2019, Steven and Austin were on a getaway in Greece. Steven asked for forever, and Austin agreed. Then two years later on the button….Steven held him to that.
And what a day it was. Converses were everywhere. Personalized ones for the grooms. And, of course, I had to wear my signature pair. And I got yet another reminder maybe it’s time to learn a little bit about the world of Harry Potter.
In a hotel suite at the Last Hotel filled with a few of their favorites, the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff got ready together. (Just Googled, and a little happy I got the spellings right).
I got to step from behind the lens when we learned that their shirts weren’t made for cufflinks. Thanks to a borrowed divot poker fixer thing and a pair of fingernail clippers, we were in business. Just one of the perks of having me….I’m not just creative behind the lens.
Then I drug them to the roof. Where else should we start pictures when there should be nerves? One thing with that. Not these two. They were completely cool as cucumbers. And perfectly dapper.
With a crew of framily we passed a few familiar spots and made our way to the Campbell House, Chucks on toe (see what I did there?).
Your time with your wedding party should be full of laughter, inside jokes, maybe some butt grabbing, and free of drama. These friends were textbooks for that.
After discovering my keys were locked in my car….yes, with my dress for the wedding itself…and my hubby swooping in to save me....we got those boys down the aisle. Yeah, and that dude, too.
Steven and Austin were married by a dear friend who just got them. The vows. They were real. And precious.
Then after some tears….From him.
And some from him on the right.
And a Mom or two. And...well, me. The groom kissed the groom.
Then...after some dinner, cake was smashed.
And then we danced. And twirled. Cotton Eye Joe’d. Wobbled. And sang the best of the 90s/2000s to one another.
When we talked about this ceremony, we talked about the simplicity of this day. For it to be a celebration of these two.
One surrounded by family.
And some family.
Yep. This entire crew.
And dancing.
Fancy dancing.
And that’s exactly what they got at The Windows on Washington.
Weddings are back, y’all. And my cup is full.

Kenneth+Becky (Steelers vs Chiefs)
What a wild, weird year it has been for this wedding photographer. Thankfully, with the anticipation of my assistant being born in January, I hadn’t booked any weddings for the spring or summer. I can’t imagine what you all have been through rescheduling.
Out of nowhere, a precious couple was sent my way. October 18th was scheduled on the calendar, and we were left to pray the virus kept things together enough for it go off without a hitch.
October 18th found us soaked. If you’re around me during the week with big shoots coming, you know I regularly pray while looking at the Weather Channel app. Prayers didn’t touch this weather. It was cold. And it was rainy. But, the day was still BEAUTIFUL.
When I pulled up to the Renaissance Wine Garden, I found a groom so cool, calm, and collected. Makes sense, because when Kenneth and Becky are together they bring peace to one another. He was styling in a fabulous hat.
He gave me directions back to the cabin I’d find Becky and her girls. I entered into a room of high energy, no nonsense ladies. And I was down for it!!! I knew I was in the right place.
Becky thought of every detail. Kenneth’s late mother’s choir robe was crafted into a heart that was sewn onto her dress. That was the first lump in my throat for the day. How precious is this?!?!?
Many members of Becky’s family are out of town, including her mother. A failed attempt at Facetime turned into a phone call that broke my heart. So much love was sent through a few minutes until the bride knew she’d hit her point where the tears would fall.
Shortly after her beautiful sons came to see their Mom. And the cutest flower girl and ring bearer ever.
Then came my third throat lump…..the first look. Becky was filled with questions for me about the rain. I tried to ease her worries with each one. Rain is good luck, after all. And we had umbrellas.
When Kenneth turned to see Becky, I could feel her just exhale from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. They are just so precious. I love how they love each other.
Speaking of feet, we learned quickly that her beautiful weddings shoes weren’t going to cut it with the weather. Comfort and ease were chosen instead with her boots. And I think they were fantastic.
Fast forward to the ceremony. I am a sucker. I cry at every wedding I shoot at some point. Even though I hadn’t met the couple in person (THANK YOU, ZOOOOOM!), I sobbed. Couldn’t help it.
It was a ceremony with a groom who couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful bride as she came down the aisle.
Filled with vows from a phone…and a piece of paper. The groom is “old school,” after all.
It had a groomsman with jokes.
And there was this whole tribe. Their St. Louis family, just enveloped them in love, support, and all that is good.
Not to mention the bride’s son, who just touched this mama heart.
The sky decided it would open up during the reception. Thank goodness for a tent, and a flexible DJ.
First dance was had. A mother son dance, too. And a group of girlfriends who were truly Dancing Queens.
During the reception, I always feel like couple stalker. I just follow them around from a distance. But, at this venue, because of the rain, there was no ‘from a distance.’
I am sucker for details. And, let me say it again, Becky didn’t miss a single detail. They are a house divided. In case you didn’t know, the bride’s Chiefs won the Super Bowl. But, she let some Steelers details into the mix.
If you had a sweet tooth it was covered.
The cupcakes were magic. Especially the Lemon that I’m devouring as I write this.
One I hadn’t seen before: Jenga guest book. Genius. And so precious.
Takeaways and favorite moments from this day.
• Those aren’t the bride’s real boobs. (She told myself or someone in my presence 7 times).
• I laughed too hard when the groom was told to use his teeth on the garter, and he looked to me for clarification.
• Sometimes a little rain must fall…. BUT it sure makes the colors pop in your wedding portraits.
• Random dance parties can happen anywhere.
Ken and Becky….I love how you all love each other. Keep dancing. Keep laughing. May you always bring one another peace.
Thank you for trusting me with your big day.

Sam+Hayley PT 1
When you're a part of the networking world, sometimes your clients are some of your dearest friends. And sometimes you get to be involved in really big moments.
I have been "staying tuned" for Hayley and Sam's engagement for a while. We all knew it would happen at some point. No need to rush Sam. He sure loves his girl.
And then it happened. She showed me the gorgeous ring. I squealed for her. We hugged big. And then we got to start planning for the big day.
We took gorgeous engagement pictures. You can see them here.
More wedding plans. Then COVID-19 happened.
May 30, 2020 would happen regardless.
In true South City fashion, the couple arrived together in their golf cart, with a cooler on the back; champagne in tow.
And I was already misty eyed. Hayley was even more stunning than I knew she’d be. With flowers picked themselves....and dress that was found at the last minute, the bride was a vision.
Surrounded by their incredibly fun parents and brothers, we started with some portraits.
I kept as socially distant as possible, and was still so overwhelmed with being a part of this day. It is just different when they are one of your best friends. Hayley has become like my little sister, and here she was about to marry the love of her life. In the very spot he proposed.
It is hilarious to me just how perfectly made for each other these two are. Neither are sappy.
But, look at how he looks at her....
And just how they melt into one another...in the most simple of ways.
Down an aisle of the well hydrated ungroomed grass of Benton Park, a groom looked on like he was seeing her for the first time.
The vows were simple. They loved each other. And this pandemic that delayed their huge party, and gave us this day, had done something else. Shown they really did like each other, too. At least that’s what Hayley said, with misty eyes staring at Sam.
All this while a Momo looked on.
Hayley and Sam.....
There are no words to how much I adore you both. And how much I LOVE how you love each other. Thank you for including me in this precious moment of your priceless love story.
Let’s do it again in August!!!

#HanaTakesThePotz
I met Hana and Karl last year at my office. They had contacted me after a recommendation from a local neighborhood Facebook page. They were interviewing me and a few others. But, I knew when I met Hana, I was the photographer for this bride.
Well, they agreed, so we moved forward with my capturing their love story. It started with a fun engagement shoot that centered around their three loves: doggos, each other, and beer. You can check it out here.
Karl and Hana met on Bumble, and their love story began at Civil Life Brewery. And after getting to know these two, Leap Day was the perfect day for these two to wed. And this day would be no different than their engagement session. It was centered around doggos, their love for each other, and beer.
If you kept up with me last week, you know I had caught the plague. Not the flu. Thankfully not the coronavirus. But, I felt like death.
When I walked into their Tower Grove home Saturday morning, I was greeted by Bunsen and Tonks’ sweet voices.
Then by a beautiful bride. In true Hana fashion, knowing I don’t do coffee, hot tea bag choices were waiting out for me. With a house full of her girls, laughter, stories, and mimosas surrounded Hana with a drama-free getting ready session.
Just before they went to get dressed, I had them speak love over her, by telling their view on why Karl was the luckiest guy on Earth. I heard about her being a Renaissance woman. A girl that just has her crap together. And leaves everyone around her a little better. That’s Hana.
I’m a sucker for a sweet first look.
But, sometimes it is not with the groom. Or the girls. It is with the bride’s daddy. And Steve didn’t disappoint.
After a quick lint roll job, fast forward to the Palm House in Tower Grove Park. If you haven’t checked out this venue, it’s one of my favorites in the Lou. I found a groom.
And a group of guys surrounding that dude with love. And beer. There were a few beers.
In the quickest ceremony I have witnessed, West Wing music came from strings.
Whiskey & bourbon were blended.
Laughs shared. Vows exchanged.
Hana & Karl had been away from their babies enough. They got some time to love on them as husband and wife.
Then there were some beers.
With the sun starting to drop, we loaded on the party bus. I couldn’t help but grow to adore this wedding party. A groomsman’s wife told me of their wedding photographer’s refusal to ride their bus. I had no problem letting my hair down with his crew.
We made our way to the Arch Grounds.
Felt the Thunder.
Then made our way to the Ferris Wheel.
Finally, we found ourselves at Schlafly Taproom for a reception. And, yes. A few beers were waiting.
One of the ways you capture moments is by watching. From their engagement shoot to the rehearsal dinner, to the reception, there is no doubt Hana and Karl are best friends. They are connected, and not far from the other’s side. It is pretty special the way they love each other.
Hana & Karl—I am grateful you chose me to capture your love story. Remember that, unlike, beer, love isn’t good when it is cold. Try to love each as much as Bunsen and Tonks love you.

Balvenie does STL
A few weeks ago I got a call from one of my favorite distributors in the Lou: Keyan Still. I had done some work for him before, and I was up again. You can check out the “Ladies who Lunch” here.
I hustled to the Last Hotel a few days later, and nobody seemed to know what the heck I was talking about when I got inside. A quick call to Keyan, a lot of grace on his part, and a location change, I found myself at Third Degree Glass Company.
And I found myself in a magical place. What can I say, I’m a sucker for artists. For watching them do what they do.
What they would do that day is walk some general managers, bar managers, etc, of some St. Louis finest eateries through making some beaker sized pitchers.
Glass was melted.
And blown.
Shaped.
Poked.
And stamped.
And a great time was had with a great group of professionals that shape the acclaimed restaurant scene of St. Louis.
That night I found myself back at the Last Hotel. This time I found Keyan and Naomi’s familiar faces right after I walked in.
As a former restaurant girl, I love learning about foods and drinks. Scotch is something that forever eludes me.
However, I got to learn about a rare gem. Balvenie has this goodness called “A Day of Dark Barley.”
This 26-year experiment started when a batch of dark roasted malted barley was delivered on an incredibly awful rainy day. Once it was taken indoors, they realized it was the wrong stuff. This type of barley is typically used for stouts. Well, they couldn’t just let it go to waste. A Day of Dark Barley was born in all its smoky, oakey, plus the classic honey, vanilla and citrus flavours.
Put that at a table with amazing food and better company, and you make for an amazing evening.
A few lessons of the day:
Artists don’t get paid and recognized enough. Get your tail to Third Degree Glass Factory and take a class.
Get your tail to the Last Hotel in St. Louis, and try their crab dip and bruschetta. OMG it was amazing. The bar area is so chic. I feel a girls’ night soon.
If you have the chance to try A Day of Dark Barley....splurge.
Thank you, Keyan of William, Grant, & Sons for trusting me to capture the day! Thank you, Naomi Leslie, of Balvenie for the knowledge!!
