Hey there! I'm Alex, a nonbinary author from the Pacific Northwest. I write various types of speculative fiction (mostly fantasy) that often intertwine my queerness, my faith as a Hellenic Polytheist, and things I just think are fucking cool. I have two publications in anthologies and have since taken the reigns on publishing my shorts on their own. Here's a list of my current works:

If you like magic colleges, dark academia, lots of worldbuilding, dark fantasy vibes, and lesbians with chronic illnesses, read A Sharper, More Lasting Pain.

If you like dark fantasy with reincarnated gods, eventual found families, a race of people like the Undead in Dark Souls, bitchin Catholic aesthetics without the Catholicism, and a Jesus-like figure, check the tag for Those Who Emerge from Ashes (hint, I'm going to start writing this one again in a couple of months. Also the events of this book pave the way for the society set up in ASMLP)

If you like gothic fantasy romance, vampires, polyamory, and necromancy, check out Before the Moon Sets.

If you like reading about monsters and monster hunters, HEAVY enemies to lovers, begrudging alliances leading to romance, and an absolute feral gremlin of a love interest, keep an eye out for A Bitter-Tasting Blade.

@alistonjdrake writes gay court intrigue low fantasy works. Some are about pretty princes falling in love with pirates (ORG) or people in brothels who go on an adventure (The Night Court). Also, if you like sad wet paper bags (complimentary) for men, he has wrote a couple of speculative short stories that absolutely fuck.

@asablehart writes fantasy of all types and has recently branched out into sci-fi as well with their last short story about gastrous birds in space. Though the story is biology-heavy, it's in a way that's still mostly approachable. I don't know shit about biology and didn't feel stupid when reading it soooo... and in general they have several publications, including their short story in Fantasy Magazine that will be free to read on the 14th! (check their blog). Also in general if you want Animals But Wrong, they're your person. Mind the content warnings tho cause some shorts involve animal death.

@flowerprose has been writing a Hades and Persephone story and it's absolutely beautiful and dreamy and everything I could hope for considering I hate 99% of stories centered on the Greek myths. Absolutely worth a read.

@nectargrapes is preparing to publish her first in a trilogy of absolutely gorgeous fantasy books. Her prose is like the most decadent meal at a 5-star restaurant and has Old School Fantasy vibes to it. I've been so excited to follow along on her journey.

@magic-is-something-we-create has two different works in the same universe. One is a trilogy and the other is fantasy noir which is super interesting. A lot of his work will fit the exact niche you're looking for. He's also a super sweet dude and I love attending his writing streams.

@westcountrygothic has a project with dark academia vibes (Wormwood) and is generally your gal if you want 60s/70s aesthetics and more modern fantasy. She also wrote a really dope short story about bats (Maternal Colony).

@andromedaexists has two main projects: Call Me Icarus and Desecrate. Both are definitely worth checking out. Also, Desecrate features a god trapped in a church basement. What's not to love?

Either my dash is broken, dead, or all of my faves are busy with Life Things. So, I am once again begging writeblr to replenish my dash with stories.

thinking about current pub plans:

ASMLP in October, obviously. I have almost everything together now and could honestly push it up one more month if I really wanted to, but I've spent so much time lately telling people it's out in October it'd probs be confusing to do it any earlier.

Anyway I do want to have two releases next year. I'd love to have ATHD ready to release next year in the spring, and I think I can if I force myself to get my shit together.

And then in the fall next year I'd love to release BTMS. Cause I think that, too, I can get into shape by then.

Also eventually want to release an omnibus of novellas involving the monsters of this world but I need at least one more novella and would need to plot that out... Cause it would be ATHD, ABTB, and.... something. Hopefully a novella that doesn't also start with the letter A.

The sexual attraction and intensity are actually a major feature that can't be narratively skipped.

That means that if you choose any of the romantic routes, the sexual intimacy cannot be skipped.

You can choose fade to black if you don't want explicit NSFW, but there won't be cuddle options to pick instead of sex.

The sex is happening from the narrative perspective.

For this reason, the game will be labeled mature/adult.

You could, of course, choose the non-romance route, and it will feature no sexual intimacy whatsoever, but there are still unsettling things happening, so~

I will make a notice at the start of the game to warn people when the game is ready to release.
