Angry Dorian Monologue about Perfection

Nigredo Dorian monologue? Haven’t yet watched Shadows Amidst Snowstorms. He’s talking about his status as subject 2, primordial Albedo

I wrote this back in August 2022 based on info I’ve gathered from fanwork (mostly @brotato-chibs’ art and comics) and the wiki page about him, before I watched the event in full. Now that I’ve watched the event, I still want to see a Dorian monologue.

Warnings: Abandonment issues, implied abusive parent

For every finished painting there’s an abandoned sketch, a version that never was. The flawless product is shown on display, but no one, no one gives a thought for the humble beginning. From earth is birthed chalk; is that earth not lovable?

This should be all fine, but I was forced into existence by Mothe— Master… And never given a proper chance. Humans aren’t perfect themselves, yet they seek perfection endlessly.

As for Albedo… He is flawed, can’t Mondstadt see? He must be! Or is it the convenience of the flaw that determines if one should be loved? The other humans love him… Is it because he’s perfect enough in their eyes?

Why him, and not me?!

…Ah, his mannerisms are polite and graceful, is that it? Then I will learn from your behaviour and become you.

And by taking your place amongst the singing people, dressed in the love that you didn’t appreciate, I’ll finally come to know what Durin meant by “the city of freedom”.

Why: he’s angry that he’s the prototype and was abandoned and fed to Durin. He resents Albedo for his “perfection”

How: he’s gonna use the project/experiment/artist metaphor and talk about how he’s the first stage. He’s gonna curse at Albedo and demand an answer for why he’s not given a chance to live. He also yearns for freedom and wants to see it for himself after hearing Durin praise it
