For its 8th edition, the biennial auction of unique timepieces sold for the benefit of research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy will take place on Saturday 9 November 2019, in Geneva. This year again, Christie’s is the auctioneer of choice under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. Bell & Ross supports the Only Watch project with this exclusive watch, the BR05 SKELETON GOLD BLUE.

Among the 52 watch manufacturers, Bell & Ross supports the Only Watch project and its incredible fundraising efforts in the fight against this disease. The Brand’s commitment to help has resulted in the design of this exclusive watch, the BR05 SKELETON GOLD BLUE.

On the occasion of the latest launch of its new icon – the BR05, the choice to design a special one-off BR05 timepiece came naturally for Bell & Ross. Faithful to the brand’s watchwords of legibility, functionality, reliability and precision, this new model boasts a resolutely urban look and feel.

The BR05 SKELETON GOLD BLUE belongs to the family of watches with an integrated case: the bracelet fuses with the case to create a unified piece.

The satin-polished 18 carat rose gold case contrasts perfectly with the blue skeleton dial. Made from blue-tinted sapphire crystal, and featuring rose gold appliqué indices, the dial forms a clear window through which the skeleton movement can be admired. The faceted, Superluminova®-filled hands and appliqué indices offer perfect legibility.

The BR05 SKELETON GOLD BLUE is equipped with a BR-CAL.322 mechanism, wound by a 360° oscillating weight, open-worked to showcase the movement designed by Bell & Ross. The back of the watch features a special engraving for ONLY WATCH as well as a golden metallization on the sapphire case-back.

The exclusive model adorns a ribbed blue rubber strap.

Ahead of the auction, a roadshow is planned from 25 September to 9 November in 10 cities across the world to introduce the unique collection to the public. The tour will start during the Monaco Yacht Show.

The 50 one-of-a-kind luxury timepieces will be auctioned at the Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues at 2pm (UTC+1), and all proceeds will be donated to Monaco’s L’Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies.

Bell & Ross, a leading brand in the aviation watch market with its iconic square BR 03 model designed for professionals in extreme environments, is now unveiling its BR05 collection. Faithful to the brand’s watchwords of legibility, functionality, reliability and precision, this new model boasts a resolutely urban look and feel. The lines of its case combine round and square, the basic geometric shapes that form part of Bell & Ross’ identity. The construction of the Bell & Ross BR 05 surpasses the rigour of the square and transcends the perfection of the circle to define its own individual character. An Integrated Design

The BR 05 belongs to the family of watches with an integrated case: the bracelet fuses with the case to create a unified piece. In the words of Bruno Belamich, Bell & Ross’ co-founder and creative director: «This integration of case and bracelet is not only in line with the brand’s visual identity, but it also brings another dimension to the watch: the first link forms part of the case. This type of design harks back to the Seventies, and when transposed to Bell & Ross, it creates a result with a graphic style which is both striking and modern.”

A New Edge

The rich finishes of the BR 05 draw the eye. Its 40 mm case is angular. The satin-finished surfaces are perfectly flat. The polished bevels emphasize and enhance the volumes they contain. These alternating satin-finished and polished surfaces are also found on the remarkably flexible steel bracelet. Particular attention has been paid to the arc of the curve, allowing all the components to be perfectly aligned and ensuring the bracelet can adapt seamlessly to any wrist.

The new collection is also available with a ribbed rubber strap, a truly stylish alternative. The dial of the BR 05, radiating with a subtle sunray finish, offers optimum legibility. It is available in silver grey, navy blue or deep black. These different colourways are complemented by another model, with a skeleton dial and mechanism.

Limited to 500 pieces, the BR 05 Skeleton effortlessly showcases the calibre BR-CAL.322 designed by Bell & Ross.

An 18 ct rose gold version of the case completes the first chapter of this new story.

Bell & Ross BR 05, une montre pour la vie urbaine.

J’avais pu mettre la main sur la Bell & Ross BR 05 à Baselworld cette année, mais interdiction de faire des photos ou d’en parler avant la release officielle par Bell & Ross. Ma première réaction fut d’être assez surpris car à première vue elle semble inspirée d’un design de Gerald Genta, mais en allant plus loin que cela, on se rend compte qu’elle reprends pas mal de codes de Bell & Ross et qu’elle résulte de la fusion d’un carré et d’un rond.

Avant d’écrire l’article, j’ai créé un sondage sur la page Fabebook à propose de la Bell & Ross BR 05 dont le résultat est : 57% aiment bien et 43% n’aiment pas. Ce qui m’a étonné, je pensais que le résultat allait être plus tranché….

Le bracelet fusionne avec le boÎtier

La Bell&Ross BR 05 appartient à la famille des montres dont le bracelet fusionne avec le boîtier en un tout cohérent et la richesse des finitions de la BR05 flatte l’œil. Son boîtier 40 mm est anguleux et les surfaces satinées sont parfaitement planes. Les biseaux polis soulignent et rehaussent les volumes qui se superposent.

La BR 08 est disponible en plusieurs versions

Le cadran de la BR 05, au cadran soleillé se décline en gris argenté, bleu marine ou noir profond équipée du calibre BR-CAL.321. Ces variantes colorées sont complétées par un modèle au cadran et au mécanisme « squeléttés » mais ce modèle est limité à 500 exemplaires. Une version du boîtier en or rose 18ct complète cette nouvelle collection.

Les BR 05 sont remontées par une masse oscillante ajourée visible à travers le fond saphir. La BR 05 Skeleton laisse d’ailleurs apparaître le calibre BR-CAL.322 (le BR-CAL.321 sans date). Ces deux calibres sont des base Sellita SW300-1.

Cette alternance de surfaces polies-satinées se retrouve également sur le bracelet acier à la souplesse remarquable. Une attention particulière portée au rayon de courbure permet l’alignement parfait de tous les composants, ce qui rend le bracelet parfaitement adapté à tout type de poignet.

La gamme BR 05 se décline aussi un bracelet caoutchouc nervuré, véritable alternative de style et seule le modèle au cadran bleu possède un bracelet assorti à la couleur de son cadran.

Cette nouvelle collection Bell & Ross BR 05 reste donc fidèle aux codes de lisibilité, fonctionnalité, fiabilité et précision de Bell & Ross en s’inscrivant dans un style urbain.

Prix : 3990€ sur caoutchouc, 4500€ sur acier, 5900€ pour la version squelette et 29.900€ pour la version en or 18ct.
