something about sae on date nights. the winter wind nips at you, flushing your cheeks and tousling your hair. sae’s eyes glint like the stars when he glances back at where you’ve fallen a step or two behind.
“okay?”
“yeah, I’m fine.” you manage a faint smile, though your heels throb. the shoes you wear are glossy, black, patented with a brand he’d brought home from madrid after his last overseas game.
as lovely as they look, fitted around your feet and ankles, walking over ice and snow in them is far from ideal. your pace had slowed down since you’d both left the restaurant to walk to the parking lot.
sae raises an eyebrow. “you’re sure?”
“mhm.”
he huffs softly, something like exasperation and fondness at once. he returns to your side, crouching on one knee. you startle, starting to protest about the cold and his suit pants, though he focuses instead on your leg.
“do they hurt?” he murmurs, tenderly cupping your ankle. “the shoes, I mean. you’re limping.”
“they fit fine.”
“I know they do.” he knows your sizing, after all. “but that’s not what I asked.”
you bite your lip and he looks up at you. he seems paler in the february cold, you notice, having lost the tan he’d gotten during summer months in europe. but it’s nice, you think. his cheeks are pink like the roses waiting in the car, his eyes somehow greener than the northern lights above.
“a little bit,” you breathe. “it’s just the walking. but it’s not too far now.”
he hums, as if in thought. “you’re right, it’s not too far to the car.”
“right. so I’m fine to hobble a little further —”
you cut your joke off when you feel his hands glide up your leg as he straightens up, standing. your heart seizes in your chest before it beats with a lusher rhythm.
“sae?”
“not too far,” he says again. before you can question him, his arm winds around your waist, the other under your knees. a soft sound escapes you as he lifts you seamlessly, cradling you close to his chest so you’re against the warmth of his coat.
“sae,” you say again, if only to vocalize your surprise.
his lips quirk in vague amusement as he continues walking to the lot. a light flurry of snowflakes fall around you, hazing the moment into something tender, intimate. you breathe in his cologne, tucking your face closer to his neck where the coat is unbuttoned.
“it’s unnecessary,” you say quietly, with absolutely no intention of truly fighting him.
“most things are.”
“it’s not too far, either way.”
“it isn’t, you’re right.”
“so put me down,” you whisper.
he meets your gaze for a moment. you feel the lightest brush of his lips against your temples; snowflakes melting under the heat of his kiss.
“not a chance.”

OKOKOK in my mind in the “puppy love” fic, reader is moving to spain
and then three years later sae comes to spain cause he gets scouted by re al you know the story
and so they meet again ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 (they have cute “dates” if you will, where she shows him around spain and what not 🤭)
now idk if you’re taking requests at the moment, or even want to write a part two for this, but i (and many others i feel like) would LOVE to see this!
no force though, if you do wish to write it take your time, and if you don’t it’s all fine too!
much love, xoxo 💋
a/n: This is actually insane because this is EXACTLY what I had in mind for a bonus part! I was originally going to end it when they saw each other again, but I took your request and wrote about their dates too. Enjoy! Mwah! I wouldn’t consider this a part 2, though—if I ever write one, it’ll still be from Rin’s POV. But I’m open to writing more bonus parts for this fic, so feel free to send me an ask! ^^
—RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT OFF
ft. Sae Itoshi
a bonus chapter for Puppy Love
synposis: Sae moves to Madrid after getting scouted by Real, but he has two problems. One—he hates it. The city feels unfamiliar, foreign, nothing like home. Two—he’s determined to forget about you. But the harder he tries, the more his own mind betrays him—because no matter what he does, everything leads him right back to you. wc: 3.1 k
The shuffling in Sae’s carry-on grows more frantic as he impatiently searches for that notebook from you.
It was the first thing he stuffed into his bag.
Flipping through the worn pages, his eyes finally land on the last one—covered in messy scribbles, but the only thing that stands out is a single line written in red ink at the bottom:
"Wait for me. ❤️ Y/N"
Sae presses his thumb against the words, as if touching them could somehow bring back the past. Could somehow make you feel real again.
He leans back into his seat, staring out at the endless stretch of sky beyond the plane window, but it’s not Madrid he’s thinking about. It’s you.
This morning, back at the house, he’d been kicking a soccer ball around the backyard, the steady thud of leather against concrete filling the quiet air. Rin was there too, watching him with a knowing look before finally speaking up.
"Nii-chan, it was just puppy love."
Maybe it was. Maybe Rin was right.
But if it was just puppy love, why is it still lingering?
Why did he still worry—that if you ever came back, that you’d be mad at him for not being there?
It’s been three years.
The chances of seeing you again were close to impossible.
Sae steps into his new apartment in Madrid, rolling his suitcase inside as his manager gestures around the space.
“This is your living room,” his manager begins, flipping on the lights. The apartment is modern, minimalistic—exactly what Sae expected. “Kitchen’s over there. Fridge is stocked for now, but you’ll need to do your own groceries after this week.”
Sae nods, setting his bag neatly by the couch.
“The bedroom’s down the hall,” the manager continues, walking ahead. “Bathroom’s connected. There’s a desk if you need to study or review game footage. Wi-Fi’s already set up.”
Sae peeks into the bedroom—plain, clean, nothing extravagant. Just a bed, a nightstand, and a small window overlooking the street below.
“You’re across the hall?” Sae asks as they return to the main area.
“Yeah,” his manager confirms, crossing. “If you need anything, just knock.”
Sae scoffs lightly. “I’ll be fine.”
His manager gives him a once-over, then exhales. “Good. Then I’ll leave you to settle in.”
With that, the manager steps out, leaving Sae alone.
The moment the door clicks shut, Sae gets to work. He unzips his luggage, methodically putting his clothes away, setting his toiletries in the bathroom, and neatly stacking his training gear by the closet. He takes mental notes of what he needs—more food, basic supplies, maybe an extra pillow.
Once everything is in place, he pulls out his phone and dials home.
His mother picks up almost immediately. “Sae?”
“I just landed and got to the apartment,” he informs her, his voice steady. “Everything’s fine.”
“That’s good,” she says warmly. “Have you eaten?
“I will soon.”
“Don’t just eat whatever’s fastest. Make sure you’re getting proper meals.”
Sae hums in acknowledgment before adding, “Tell Dad I made it safely. And Rin, too.”
“Of course,” his mother says. There’s a brief pause, then a softer, knowing tone in her voice. “It feels real now, doesn’t it?”
Sae leans against the counter, staring at the empty space around him. His new home. His new life.
“Yeah,” he murmurs.
After a few more exchanges, he hangs up, setting his phone aside.
His eyes drift to his carry-on, to the one thing he hadn’t put away yet.
The notebook.
The worn cover, the slightly frayed edges—he traces them with his fingers before flipping it open once again. The pages are filled with your handwriting, messy yet familiar, scrawled with thoughts and doodles from years ago.
It’s ridiculous, really. He hasn’t seen you in three years. He has no idea where you are, if you’re still in the same country, if you even remember him the way he remembers you.
But memories flood in anyway. The afternoons spent at the park, your determined expression when you first crashed his soccer game, the way you always talked too much but somehow, he never minded. The way you scribbled on his arm once with the same red ink you used to write—
"Wait for me. ❤️ y/n"
Sae exhales sharply and shuts the notebook.
Maybe it really was just puppy love.
He stands, grabs his wallet, and heads for the door.
He needs to get out, get familiar with the city. He’s going to live here now, after all.
The city is foreign, unfamiliar—Sae hates it.
He was never one for traveling. The only reason he’s here is to play soccer at an international level, but outside of that, it feels suffocating in a way he never expected.
The streets are too loud yet too quiet at the same time. He doesn’t understand the conversations happening around him, the unfamiliar syllables blending into meaningless noise. The people pass by in a blur, all strangers, none of them acknowledging him beyond quick  glances.
It’s not like he’s stupid enough to get scammed—he’s careful, always aware of his surroundings. But that doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t belong here. It doesn’t change how frustrating it is to have all this free time and nowhere to go, no one to turn to.
The city is alive, buzzing with movement, but it only makes the loneliness feel sharper.
Today marks his second week in Madrid.
Sae realizes just how useless he is when it comes to directions.
The sun is already beginning to set, casting a golden glow over Madrid, and he has no idea where he is.
The street signs might as well be in a foreign language—which, technically, they are. He squints at them, but the unfamiliar words blur together, useless in helping him find his way. And as for Spanish? Well, he knows about as much as a toddler forming his first sentence.
Great.
Of course, it’s at a time like this that he remembers you.
Because you were always the human GPS between the two of you, navigating streets like you had a built-in map inside your head. You always knew the right turns to take, the fastest shortcuts.
And right now? Right now, he is the one most in need of that skill.
Rin thinks Sae is perfect, so he probably doesn’t even know about this little flaw of his.
Sae scoffs to himself, shaking his head. It’s ridiculous that, even now, when he’s supposed to be moving on, he still finds himself thinking about you.
He exhales sharply, pushing the thoughts away.
Enough.
With renewed determination, Sae steps onto the crosswalk, telling himself—again—that it’s time to leave his childhood love in the past.
But by the time he reaches the middle, doubt creeps in—just enough for him to hesitate, just enough for him to misstep.
And just enough for him to accidentally bump into someone walking from the opposite direction.
"Perdón," the girl mutters, barely sparing him a glance—until she does.
She stops short, eyes widening in surprise.
"Oh."
Sae blinks.
"It’s you."
For a moment, the city fades into the background. The people rushing past, the hum of conversation, the faint honking of impatient drivers—it all disappears.
You look different now. Your hair is dyed, a little wavier than before. A stylish bag hangs off your shoulder, outfit effortlessly put together in a way that makes you stand out even in the middle of Madrid.
But to him, you’re still the same stubborn girl who once barged into his soccer game with Rin, the one who never asked for permission—just demanded a pass like you belonged there. The one who never looked at him like everyone else did.
Your eyes are the same. That’s what catches him the most. Time has changed a lot of things, but not that. They still hold the same warmth, the same quiet confidence.
Sae wonders if he looks different to you, too. If you notice the way his shoulders have grown broader, the way the exhaustion lingers under his eyes. If you can tell that beneath all the fame and titles, there’s still a part of him that never stopped waiting for you.
Neither of you speak. Just stood there, caught in something neither of you were prepared for.
Sae exhales, then—without thinking—extends his hand toward you
But before you can take it, a sharp whistle cuts through the air.
"¡Oye! Move it!"
The traffic officer’s whistle cuts through the air, snapping both of you out of your daze.
Startled, you both turn at the same time, realizing the light has already turned green—and you’re still standing in the middle of the crosswalk.
Reality has always had a way of interrupting you two, hasn’t it?
Sae clenches his jaw, frustration flickering across his face. Meanwhile, you weren’t handling it any better—because instead of just walking away like a normal person, you were flipping off the traffic officer and hurling a wooden spoon at him.
Where did you even get that? Sae has no idea. And honestly, he’s not sure he wants to.
But then he feels you grab his arm, yanking him across the street as you break into a run—both of you fleeing from the traffic officer, who Sae can only assume is cursing you out in rapid Spanish.
And just like that, his expression softens.
“Whew, that was close,” you say between heavy breaths, still catching your breath from all that running.
Sae glances at you, unimpressed. “Maybe if you didn’t throw a spoon at him, we wouldn’t have to run.”
You roll your eyes, waving him off. “Oh, please. That guy already hates me. This isn’t even the first time, you know.”
Sae raises a brow. “Not surprised.”
You nudge him with your elbow. “Hey! Rude.”
He exhales sharply, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “What did you do to piss him off before?”
You smirk, tilting your head playfully. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
Sae gives you a look—unamused but intrigued nonetheless. “I would, actually.”
You grin, pretending to think. “Let’s just say… it involved a churro cart, an old lady, and a very, very unfortunate slip on my part.”
Sae stares at you for a moment before shaking his head. “You’re a menace.”
You flash him a cheeky smile. “And yet, here you are, running away from traffic officers with me.”
He huffs but doesn’t argue. Because, somehow, you’re right—because he’s relieved that he can finally talk to someone other than his manager, and just as relieved to see that you haven’t changed at all.
Isn’t it ironic? The very day he decides to finally let go of your memory, fate throws you right back into his life.
But something nags at him. You haven’t asked about Madrid, about why he’s here. It’s like you’re not surprised at all, like it’s the most natural thing in the world to bump into him on the street.
Sae narrows his eyes slightly before speaking. “Hey, you’re not gonna ask?”
“Ask what?” you blink at him, confused. Then, as if remembering something, your face lights up. “Oh! Where are my manners?”
Before he can react, you throw yourself at him, wrapping him in a warm embrace.
Sae stiffens, caught completely off guard. But before he can say anything, you sigh dramatically against his shoulder. “I missed you so much! I can’t believe you followed me all the way to Spain. Oh, you really do love me.”
He clicks his tongue, exasperated. You’re being an idiot again—definitely pushing it.
But he doesn’t argue. He doesn’t deny it.
Instead, after a brief hesitation, he exhales and wraps a single arm around you, listening as you ramble on like no time has passed at all.
“Maybe I should put a tracker on you.” you tease, walking a step ahead of Sae as you lead him through the narrow streets of Madrid.
He exhales sharply, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I would’ve figured it out eventually.”
You throw him a look over your shoulder. “Yeah, sure. After getting lost for another three hours.”
Sae doesn’t bother denying it. Instead, he follows as you turn into an alleyway, stopping in front of a small, unassuming café tucked between two buildings.
“This place has the best tostada con tomate in the city,” you say, nodding toward the café.
“The old man inside—Rafa—he always yells at me for ordering too much, but then he sneaks me an extra pastry for free.”
As if on cue, the door swings open, and an elderly man steps out. His eyes land on you, and a slow grin spreads across his face. “¡Ah, mira quién es! La niña que me arruina el negocio.” (Ah, look who it is! The girl who’s ruining my business.)
You laugh, stepping forward to greet him. “Don’t lie, Rafa. You love me.”
Rafa scoffs but affectionately ruffles your hair before turning to Sae, eyes narrowing in scrutiny. “¿Y este quién es?” (And who’s this?)
“My amigo,” you reply smoothly, though there’s a glint of mischief in your eyes. “He just moved here, so I’m showing him around.”
Rafa studies Sae for a moment before nodding in approval. “Bien. Come inside. I’ll make sure he eats something decent.”
Sae barely has time to protest before you’re dragging him through the door, the scent of warm spices and grilled meat immediately filling the air. The restaurant is small, a little tucked away from the busier streets, but it’s lively, filled with laughter and the soft hum of conversation.
When the food arrives, you dig in without hesitation, taking a bite and immediately letting out a dramatic sigh. “Oh my god,” you moan, clutching your chest like you’ve just ascended to heaven. “This is it. This is what happiness tastes like.”
Sae raises an eyebrow, unimpressed. “You sound ridiculous.”
“You sound jealous,” you retort, shoveling another bite into your mouth. “You haven’t even touched your food.”
Sae watches you for a moment. The way you eat so shamelessly, without a care for how you look, is something he vaguely remembers from when you were kids. Some things never change.
“I’m just letting you be the poison tester,” he mutters, finally picking up his fork.
You roll your eyes. “Please. If Rafa wanted to kill me, he would’ve done it years ago.”
Rafa, passing by, snorts. “She’s not wrong.”
Sae sighs, finally taking a bite. He won’t admit it, but it’s good. Really good.
Just as you’re finishing your plate, you glance at your phone and stand abruptly. “Be right back. Don’t go running off without me.”
Sae only scoffs in response, watching as you disappear towards the bathroom. The moment you’re gone, Rafa leans against the counter, wiping his hands on a towel before turning to Sae with a knowing smirk.
“She talked about you before, you know,” Rafa says casually.
Sae tenses slightly. “Did she?”
Rafa nods, chuckling. “Not by name. Just 'some guy I used to know who’s hopeless with anything besides soccer and even worse with emotions.'”
Sae huffs. “Sounds like something she'd say.”
Rafa shrugs. “Well, if you’re sticking around, you better get used to her dragging you everywhere. She’s got a habit of making lost people feel at home.”
Sae doesn’t respond, just looks at him, expression unreadable. Rafa only chuckles, shaking his head as he wipes down the counter.
A moment later, you return, eyes narrowing the second you spot them. “What’s this?” you ask suspiciously, sliding back into your seat. “What were you two talking about?”
Rafa smirks, tilting his head towards Sae. “Oh, nothing much. Just sharing stories.”
You gasp dramatically, pointing a finger at Sae. “You weren’t talking bad about me, were you?”
Sae finally speaks, deadpan. “Wouldn’t need to. You embarrass yourself enough.”
You scoff, reaching over to steal a piece of food from his plate. “Unbelievable. I leave for one second, and you two become best friends conspiring against me.”
Rafa laughs. “Don’t worry, querida. He’s not that easy to befriend.”
You nod sagely. “That’s true. I had to force him to like me.”
Sae rolls his eyes. That was true for most people, but definitely not for you.
He liked you from the get-go, like there was a gravitational pull towards you that he just couldn't escape from.
The day continues like that.
You don’t take him to the usual tourist spots—the grand plazas or famous museums. Instead, you show him the Madrid you love.
A tucked-away bookstore where the owner lets you sit and read for hours without buying anything. A tiny family-run tapas bar where the food is cheap but incredible, and the owners greet you like family. A rooftop spot where you swear the sunset looks better than anywhere else in the city.
Everywhere you go, you introduce him like he belongs there.
By the time the sky turns golden, Sae realizes something.
This isn’t just a city to you. It’s a home.
And for the first time since moving here, Madrid doesn’t feel so unfamiliar to him anymore.
Maybe it’s because he’s finally seeing it through your eyes.
And maybe that so-called puppy love Rin kept telling him about is beginning to grow into something more.
a/n: "Puppy Love" is the one and only beloved Sae Itoshi fanfic franchise that will remain untouched by despair. I wholeheartedly believe that at some point during his four years in Spain, Sae had his dreams crushed and utterly heartbroken. But in this au? nah. no angst, no career-crushing disappointments, Just endless, tooth-rotting fluff and relationship bliss. The kind of soft, sweet moments Sae would never admit he enjoys. Because for once, he deserves to have something go perfectly right.

What if Blue Lock dad's parents were visiting to see their grandchild? (Though with an exception of Michael, for an... Obvious reasons, so, how about with Michael instead some comfort stuff with him having some memories of his parents after seeing his mother on TV, then coming back to reality with a family he actually has now?)
a/n: hey lovely, i excluded kaiser here for obvious reasons :(

"tadaima," sae says nonchalantly as he steps in, his parents following behind.
the moment they enter, natsuki—who had been playing with barbie dolls—gets up and rushes toward them.
"ojiichan!" she calls, sprinting straight into her grandfather’s arms.
sae’s father laughs heartily, kneeling down just in time to catch his granddaughter, "ah, my little natsuki! did you miss me?"
"mhm! so much!" she says, nuzzling into his shoulder.
sae’s mother, standing beside him, crosses her arms, "no hugs for me?"
natsuki giggles and wiggles free, rushing toward her.
"obaachan~!" she sings, wrapping her tiny arms around her grandmother’s waist.
sae clicks his tongue, "natsuki," he calls softly but firmly.
natsuki looks up from the hug. "yes, papa?"
sae stares at her for a second before sighing and turning away. "nothing. forget it."
natsuki blinks then realizes, "oh papa! hug for papa!" she says as sae picks natsuki in her arms.
you chuckle, stepping forward to help with the bags. "guess you were feeling left out, no?"
"shut up," he mutters.
his mother smirks. "he was always like this when rin got more attention as a baby too."
"mom—" sae glares at her.
his father chuckles, placing a hand on sae’s shoulder.
"some things never change."
itoshi rin
"—and don’t forget how you used to follow sae around everywhere."
"mom, enough," rin says, angrily stabbing his food with the fork. but trying his best to be gentle for his daughter.
sakura gasps, "papa, were you a little shadow?"
"absolutely not," says rin.
"yes," his mother corrects.
you couldn't help but look away, your hand covering your mouth as you laugh.
rin groans, rubbing his temples. "can we just eat?"
but sakura isn't done and starts mimicking his every movement. If he reaches for his glass, she does too. If he leans forward, so does she. "look, ma, obaachan! ojiichan! i'm a little shadow just like papa!" she giggles.
you hold back another laugh while rin sighs, giving his daughter a stern look, "sakura. sit properly."
"but papa—"
"sakura," he warns.
his mother laughs, "she really takes after you, rin."
isagi yoichi
"yuki-chan!" yoichi's mother exclaims, taking yuki in her arms and showering her face with so many kissys.
"obaachan!" yuki giggles.
after setting yuki down, yoichi’s mom turns to you, "y/n-chan!" she says, pulling you into a hug, "it’s been too long. have you been taking care of yourself?"
you nod, hugging her back, "of course, mom."
yoichi steps forward, expecting a greeting, only to get a quick pat on the head. "ah, and there's yo-chan."
"mom!" he groans.
his father chuckles, lifting little yuki, "my little yuki-chan has gotten so big! look at you!" then, turning to you, "yoichi isn’t giving you trouble, is he?"
"oi! why does everyone assume that?!" yoichi asks.
his mom smirks, "because yoichi was such a weak little thing growing up. always so soft-hearted, getting teary-eyed over the smallest things."
"mom—!"
"oh, like that time he lost a game and clung to me the whole day, pouting?" his dad adds with a laugh.
"mom! dad! enough!"
yuki gasps dramatically. "papa, you used to pout?"
you let out a chuckle while yoichi buries his face in his hands. his mother simply pats his back. "don’t worry, yo-chan. you turned out fine."
"barely," his dad jokes.

“ harvey, nobody knows what I see. ”
ryusei shidou x reader
highschool au.
𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⋆˚꩜。⟢ ˎˊ˗
— ❤︎ —
you were never a fan of moving away, far too attached to every house you had the chance of living in, to the memories it brought and most importantly to the people you met. that’s what you learned to realise each time you moved away, you weren’t stupid, even as a child you had realised your weaknesses and made sure to never let yourself truly go because everything was temporary.
at least it was until you met him. the blonde haired peculiar boy at the school you were attending. In your younger years you wanted nothing to do with him. you were opposites after all. He was loud, eccentric and boisterous, you were quiet, reserved and contemplate. well until you had no choice but to.
The first interaction between you was when you were peacefully trying to read your book on the bleachers on a warm summer day, basking in the soft rays of the sun. it was going well until- you promptly woke up with a ball straight to your face, knocking the air out of you as you slightly jerked back. The gasps around you made it all the more embarrassing, your friends were nowhere around you and hearing everyone else either holding back laughs while others were still shockingly watching could do nothing but make you want to crawl inside a hole and never come back out. and that was when he approached you, it was silly but the one thing you remember is how he tripped running over to the bleachers.
“ Shoot, I am sorry ? ” The way his tone was unsure made you look at him with a bewildered but honestly speaking, amused look. After a few more seconds of the seemingly on going staring contest you had going on with him you couldn’t help but let your lips curve upright, a giggle erupting from your mouth, making the equally bewildered boy look at you in a daze, not sure of what to do. let’s just say in that moment two souls tied to one another, because from that day on you were inseparable.
school bleacher conversations were your thing now, whether it would be that you came to watch him practice or you would spend time together revising after school, enjoying the summer time, it was a habit that neither of you denied once it started. bike rides home were idle. you watched the sunset on the back of ryusei’s bike as he talked your ear off about another one of his shenanigans or arguments he had at his football practice despite you being there; he deemed it necessary that you understood his side of the story so those ‘wannabe pretty boys’ as he calls them, don’t try to sweep you off your feet by painting him out to be the bad guy one of these days. to which you would just roll your eyes at and continue listening to him with no sign of refusal.
time with shidou passed faster than you imagined, to the point where you only realised how bad your resolve had broken when your parents gave you the impending news.
moving away. again. except this time you weren’t as neutral. you had finally met someone you wanted to have around, someone who made your life better even without knowing. so like any other naive child you had straight up denied. you didn’t want to move, you wouldn’t move ( it didn’t work. ) So in your antsy frenzy, that night you had made sure to give something to your best friend that wouldn’t let him ever forget about you.
“ What's that ? ” the blonde asked with a curious glint in his eyes as he cotninued to snack on the sweet poki sticks. you replied by looking down, giving him the news. to which he took better than you expected, except from the pout adorning his face now. "Dumbass, why were you nervous to tell me ? ” you simply looked at him huffing “ well ryu’ you don’t exactly- ” but you don’t get to finish your sentence as he pats your head suddenly, “ and why would you think.. I would forget you.” he mumbles the last part more quietly, looking down at his lap with a conflicted look. hearing that, you couldn’t help the smile painting your face as you took his hand putting the morganite, handmade bracelet into his palm. the boy simply looks down at the sudden coldness he felt before immediately doubling down analysing the bracelet. “ I made it ! ” you exclaim proudly, showing off your wrist which had a matching one on. seeing that, he couldn’t help the blush coat his cheeks as he immediately put it on himself. “ ryu.. are your cheeks red right now ? “ you say in a teasing tone that easily gets shut down by him pulling you in a headlock ruffling your hair to which you can only squeal at, giggling as silly bickering erupts from both of your mouths.
That was a very long time ago, now at the prime age of seventeen you’re preparing for yet another new high school, in your third year. it sucked that you had to move in your final year but you reminded yourself that it isn’t something you hadn’t grown accustomed to. In the time of growing up you had met, adored and left a lot of people, yet the one that stuck to you the most was your one and only childhood best friend. moving in and out of Japan had you going insane, and as much as you wanted to keep in contact with everyone, you couldn’t manage it and gave up early on. shidou being no exception of that, which you greatly regretted. Each step you took on the strangely empty Tokyo streets towards your brand new school had you feeling nervous, it was like first grade all over again, every single time. you just couldn’t help the nervous feeling in your heart, especially since you are a third year at a new school, which is not a bad thing, just rare and attention inducing. you dreaded how the day would unfold immediately as you see the huge gates with the name in bold blue writing.
to your surprise your classes were not half as bad as you thought they would, homeroom was simple. you were glad third years here weren’t as curious and judgemental as you imagined. As you walked in, you were immediately greeted by a teacher who led you to the office. There you met your classmate and the student council president, Isagi Yoichi, who was nice enough to take you to your shared homeroom and even let you meet his friends later on after introducing yourself to the new class. now you were currently facing a predicament, due to you starting in the second week; you weren’t able to pick a club so now you, isagi, his best friends bachira, kurona and hiori whom were all your classmates were trying to figure out what club you could join. since it is mandatory. “ What if she joins as our manager ? I mean we don’t have one and it wouldn’t hurt. ” hiori says, trying to improve the defeated mood of the group. “ manager ? “ You say curiously, eyes focused on him, turning to bachira as he exclaims happily “ yea ! we’re all in the football team, isn’t that super duper fun !? ”
he says while putting his arms around the three other boys who just groan in response to his hyper behaviour. "You know what ? That doesn’t sound all too bad. “ you say with a hum as you noted down ‘football team manager’ on your notepad as one of your ideas. “ That's great ! then you can just come now since practice is about to end for the others ! ” yet again, bachira shouts joyfully, this time around getting up and joining your side immediately pulling you up to which you yelp to the sudden force as he just continues giggling pulling you over, leaving the other three boys just looking at each other before sighing and following along you and bachira. It seemed like a great idea before, amazing even but as you’re standing in front of the gym which was booming with noise you could only mentally curse for agreeing, crowds were not your thing; yet these days it’s all you’re a part of. “ It's fine ! Our team isn’t bad ! Even if some people are a bit questionable, they’re alright. “ isagi says, trying to reassure you despite only sparking your nerves more. as you take a step forward towards the door having mentally prepared yourself you immediately open the door while speaking to the four boys,
“ you’re right ! what could go so wrong aha. "
But as if the universe was watching you, ready to prove you wrong and you opened the door a ball is immediately in contact with your face. hard. groaning at the impact you immediately shut your eyes gripping your nose which you were sure was bleeding with how painful the hit felt ( it was not ! ). gasps immediately surround you as you are approached by isagi and bachira from behind you along with kurona and hiori who just look concerned. but before they can even speak, sudden steps approach you, slightly leaning down to your height,
“ Shoot, are ya’ okay ? ” and as if the interaction couldn’t get any weirder a sense of deja vu takes over you as you immediately look at the figure facing you with wide eyes. “ ryu? ” you mumble, shock taking over your senses as the pain you had just faced dilated. you notice his blonde spiky hair, with hot pink tips adorning it, the sharp eyeliner that complimented him even more, along with his freakish height, he had always been taller than you but now the difference seemed even more dramatic. shidou stares at you for a little while longer before finally putting the pieces together and calling out to you, “ n/n ? ” he mumbles, and it truly felt like the world had reduced to only you two as you stare into his eyes with a soft look, tears brimming slightly in your orbs as he immediately takes a hold of your shoulders hugging you tightly. you immediately hug him back, ignoring the awkward atmosphere that was created by your emotional reunion. you didn’t care. what matters most is you had met your best friend all over again, and you weren’t going to let him go again. The other guys could only stare in slight amusement and shock, seeing shidou’s usual fiery, rude, and unpredictable persona immediately crumble down with you was surely a sight to behold.
And with a promise of a hangout date, you were sent back out as the boys were told to go change. to which you were immediately bombarded with questions from your new classmates and few members of the team, “ so you and shidou are dating ? ” bachira asks innocently for the nth time. “ no you idiot," she clearly said that her and antenna freak were childhood best friends. If you had listened-” the two toned hair only booped the black haired male whom you had learnt his name was itoshi rin who only irked at bachira’s touch immediately chasing after him as they ran away from the rest of the group. “ Gotts to say.. you and Shidou are an interesting match. ” hiori says, his accent seeping through slightly, which you found endearing. “ Tell me about it. “ you reply with a sigh, a lazy smile playing on your lips
“ so, that’s y/n huh ? " the red head spoke up to the blonde as he was putting his jacket on. shidou could only mumble a ‘yes’ followed by a nod, looking down at the bracelet on his wrist. "She seems nice enough, treat her well. " sae adds with an amused smirk on his face. The blonde would be on cloud nine at the interaction with the male right now, however he could only smile before replying in the same soft-spoken tone he had welcomed you with.
"Of course I will. ”

Tumblr media
It starts with insults, and it ends with fists.
That's the way of thinking you subconsciously drilled into your head from middle school. You realised quickly that having good grades or being kind just wasn’t enough to smoothly get through the once prestigious private school you attended.
Bullying was something you absorbed, that swirled like a disgusting parasite around you. Maybe it was something about you not having the latest phone, the newest shoes–or it was a micro aggressive comment about the deep colour of your skin or your hair being the opposite of pin straight. You didn’t ever talk back or defend yourself, hoping the less reactions given, the less satisfaction would be gained and a next sorry target would be found. Unfortunately, that never happened.
You remember the day you finally snapped.
It was a regular tuesday, and although the past few months had been nothing but dread, you felt eerily calm, like you subconsciously knew what was going to happen and had already accepted it. It was sunny for such a day in march, and you appreciated the breeze, considering it was rare to be interrupted during your lunch breaks.
Today was not one of those days.
It was the same group most of the time, a handful of girls and two boys. A cycle usually occurred, it was first grabbing your attention, then insults, maybe some physical contact, knocking some stuff out of your hands, more insults, and repeat.
You didn’t wait until the insult part.
When your mind decides to black out on you while beating on someone, one finds it quite hard to remember all the details. It was the sound of your backpack dropping to the ground at first, then the slightly panicked tone of insults, questioning what you were doing, and then your first impact of knuckles to flesh. You're sure you and the girl both tripped on each other's feet at some point, scrapping your knees, you both hit the ground accidentally tackling her. You remember how the strands of her blonde hair that had found its way to wrap itself around your fingers felt–coarse. Ears ringing, you ignored her high pitched banshee shrieks of pain while you pulled on the strands, hard. You felt them snap at the scalp. You could feel how with each collision of your closed fist to the soft tissues of her face, her sobbing grew more and more heavy. It took the two boys of the group to pry you off her.
Later you sat in the principal's office, the extra chair for one of your guardians empty. It always was when you got in trouble. You knew it would add stress on your already ill mother. The surface skin of your knuckles were raw and the scratches on your knee began to sting as the adrenaline faded away, the soothing cream the nurse had applied weak against the pain.
A broken nose, one chipped tooth, two black eyes, and a few tension caused bald spots.
You were told–no, screamed at by the beaten girl's mother, that you were lucky the police weren’t called, and the only consequence you were getting was that you would be expelled.
You should've been angry, maybe distraught at the fact you were being kicked out for defending yourself, of being kicked out of the most prestigious school in the district, especially since you were on a scholarship. But–nothing. There was a sense of indifference that surrounded you like a protective bubble, even as you were screamed at, even as you were given a formal letter of expulsion you were supposed to give to your mother, even as you were escorted off school grounds.
It almost scared you, how you really didn’t care anymore.
It had been four years since that event.
Now you were in some shitty local school that you honestly could give less of a dime about.
It had been another cycle of detentions, fights, wounds, stings, sores, aches and a whole calypso of sorts. And they couldn’t expel you, with you having nowhere else to go.
Again, you were in after school detention for slamming a locker door shut on a girl's head. Not your fault she decided it would be a perfectly plausible idea to spit on your sneakers.
Here you are now. It was a rundown classroom in the back of the school, like the staff was trying to hide the bad kids away to avoid staining the school's decent reputation. Not like you cared. The desks had symbols carved out with sharp objects and permanent sharpies, graffiti on the walls, floors and ceiling and a foul smell coming from somewhere you couldn’t pinpoint. You had been in there so many times to the point you had gotten comfortable enough to just nap for the hour you were stuck there. It was the usual placement of connecting your head to the desk, turning away, and ignoring the others that were usually there for the same reasons just like you.
But you also did it to ignore the fact there was always an intense stare piercing the side of your head as soon as you put your head on the table. But you let it roll off you, after all, staring towards you was just another familiar wave of negativity. The guy was notoriously known for his fights and appearance, sure, but it's not like you truly cared who he was or the feared reputation he built for himself.
For the first time, Shidou is intrigued. He watches as your slumped form in the corner back of the detention room, not talking, not even looking at anyone. No arrogance, no puffed chest—just you, head on the desk, tapping your fingers in a rhythm against the wooden leg of the desk like you were waiting for something.
So he tests you. A few direct comments out loud, a smirk, a challenge. And when you finally look at him—dark eyes, unreadable expression—he knows you're different just from the look in your eyes.
And for the first time, Shidou may have found himself someone who might just be as reckless as him.
The clock ticks slowly, each second dragging like a slow–burning cigarette.
Shidou Ryusei slouches in his chair, arms crossed over his chest, his lip still split from the fight that landed him here. He smirks at the memory—some senior had mouthed off, and Shidou, never one to back down, tracked him down and made sure a knuckle sandwich was given–something like that, anyway. You don't acknowledge his poking words, just pulling the drawstrings of your hoodie up further (an item of clothing that didn’t comply with the school rules either), shoving your hands into your pockets. From where he sits, Shidou can see the bruises along your knuckles, a fresh scrape along your cheekbone.
He knew you got into fights, but seeing the damage up close? It makes something in him spark.
The room is silent except for the scribbling of a teacher grading papers at the front desk. Shidou drums his fingers on his desk, gaze flicking between the clock and you–who hasn’t looked up once.
“Who was it?” he finally asks, his eyes fixed on the clock, but you know he’s addressing you.
You don’t move. Don’t even react.
Shidou leans back, stretching his legs out, the wooden chair creaking beneath him. “Who’d you fight?” he tries again, smirking slightly. “Gotta be bad if they stuck you in here with me.”
A beat of silence. Then—
“You talk too much.”
Your voice is quiet, but sharp enough to cut. Shidou raises a brow, interested. Most people flinch or get defensive when he pushes. You didn't.
“I’m just curious,” he says, tilting his head towards your general direction. “A girl like you throwing punches? Gotta be a juicy story. Right?”
This time, you do glance at him—just for a second. Dark eyes, unreadable, sizing him up like he’s just another fight waiting to happen.
“No story,” you mutter bitterly. “Just a bad day.”
Shidou studies you, almost like how a tiger looks at its prey, almost like he wasn’t deterred by the bad mood radiating off you. “Yeah? Guess we both had one.” He gestures vaguely to his busted lip, almost smug. “Wasn’t really my fault, though. The guy was fucking begging for it.”
You huff, barely a laugh, more like an exhale of disbelief. “Is that what you tell yourself?”
He leans in slightly, elbows on the desk, and you're able to see the quiet–but explosive glow of his pink eyes. “Is that what you tell yourself?”
His question hits you like a light slap to the face, managing to surprise you. For the first time, something flickers in your eyes—something he recognizes. A mix of exhaustion and defiance.
You didn’t answer. Instead, you shifted in your seat, the metal legs groaning under your weight. Tilting your head toward him, your eyes met his, tense. “Why do you care?”
Both of your expressions mirrored each other, nonchalant, unreadable.
There was another long beat of silence as your eyes darted around his face, his blonde hair with pink tips that was definitely the reason he had a ‘delinquent’ title, you think. His nails are sloppily painted black, and you could imagine how his punches hurt like a bitch with how many rings adorned his fingers. His blazer was nowhere to be found, his jumper sleeves rolled up to his forearms. His sneakers were scruffy, his buttoned collar undone.
Shidou himself seemed as if he was deep in thought looking at you himself, as well as considering your words. He doesn’t know the answer yet. Maybe because you're different. Maybe because you're quiet, a silent but deadly type. Maybe it’s because you're the same as him, a foreign presence in an unfamiliar environment. Maybe it’s because rather than seeing a sea of pin straight black hair, it was the neat ocean of mahogany brown braids that skimmed your lower back. Maybe it was because of the fresh manicured set of nails that you got every other week, something he observed more than the normal person should. Or maybe because, for the first time, someone isn’t playing his game, and you peaked his rare curiosity.
He gives a lopsided grin, tilting his chair back until the front legs hovered above the floor. “I don’t. Just making conversation.”
You don't respond at first, ripping your eyes away from the intense staring competition–just turning your gaze back to the window, as if he’s already forgotten. But Shidou? He’s still watching you, still curious.
And it takes a lot to get his attention.
He focused on your glossy pout, and how it seemed to soften slightly with your next words.
“Fine. Keep making conversation…i guess.”
When you meant keep the conversation going, you never implied for him to thrust his desk right next to yours, almost bumping shoulders with you. He ignored the weak yelling of the teacher telling him to go back to his place. You were amused by his actions, not even telling him to back off like you would to anyone else.
Maybe you’ll let him talk your ear off a bit more.

cream puff - 03 this spring
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Series: shidou ryusei x f!reader | contains : fluff, (slight)angst, a bit suggestive(its shidou.), highschool au, troublemaker shidou, reader loves baking, spring :P, warning is shidou
masterlist
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Dear Diary, im severely thinking about how this spring is blossoming with surprises. My bakery life might come a little sooner than i thought, thanks i guess ryusei And the milk boxes are delicious
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
You really can’t shake the feeling off, his whole vibe, his look, and smile, blonde to pinkish hair, striking eyeliner makeup- which is confidently much better than yours for some reason. Now some may confuse this with ‘love’ but you swear to your cherry pink heart, it isn’t. It’s something else, right? Right. Because right now, you glare him down, he’s took custom of the place where you wished you carved your name into so you wouldn’t be all the way in the back of the class. Pain of hearing the teacher in the front, blurry across the room of the board. He’s just messing around, not paying attention unlike you, you would’ve written down notes that could battle Napoleon's army.
Suddenly, his chair scraped against the floor as he stood, striding over to your desk with a casual air that somehow felt calculated. Without a word, he placed another milk box in front of you, his fingers lingering just a second too long.
“For you, buzz,” he said in a tone so low and smooth it sent an involuntary shiver down your spine. The playful nickname rolled off his tongue like a private joke only he understood. But you understood it. Your eyes flicked up to meet his for the briefest moment, but his intense gaze pinned you down. You dropped your eyes immediately, lips parting to say something—anything—but no words came out.
Shidou tilted his head slightly, a curious, almost amused expression crossing his face. He looked as though he were inspecting you, searching for some hidden detail, his sharp pink eyes narrowing slightly. “Hmm… You didn’t even finish the last one I gave you.”
His voice carried a subtle edge, teasing but not quite annoyed.
You fidget under his scrutiny, the weight of his presence making your pulse race. “You can take them back if you want…” you mumbled, trying to sound indifferent but knowing you failed miserably.
“But they’re all for you”
“Why?” you blurted out, immediately wishing you hadn’t.
“Figure it out.” His smirk was maddeningly cryptic, his tone a playful challenge as he pushed himself upright and returned to his seat.
Just then, the teacher walked in, silencing the chatter in the room. Her gaze zeroed in on Shidou immediately, sharp and accusing. “You’re not late anymore, Shidou,” she remarked, her voice tinged with exasperation.
“Really?” Shidou mumbled, the sarcastic bite in his words sparking quiet laughter across the room.
The teacher huffed, clearly deciding it wasn’t worth the battle, and began her lecture instead. You let out a quiet breath of relief, thankful for the distraction. But just as you started to focus on the lesson, you caught it—a subtle movement in the corner of your vision.
Shidou’s head turned ever so slightly, his eyes flicking back to you with a look that sent your heart into what you could call terror. Or maybe it’s just your mind filled with curiosity, or both because why now, is he just happening to talk to someone like you?
Thanks to the bright skies, the bell’s lousy ring signals the start of lunch. You couldn’t handle another lecture—your brain already fried from endless notes and scribbles. Rushing over to Lui, you clutch the small bento you had prepared last night, packed with enough to share—a friendly thought meant just for her. The moment she spots it, her eyes sparkle like diamonds, reflecting every bit of excitement at the neatly arranged meal in your hands.
Settling into a secluded spot in the cafeteria, both of your stomachs rumble in anticipation, practically begging for food. Just as you’re about to dig in, you can’t help but notice a lingering gaze fixed right on you…
“I really think he might like you” Lui began “I mean he’s been trying to talk to you ever since you switched seats with him”
“Following me and giving me milk boxes is oddly unusual though, put a letter in my locker or something..” You sigh heavily, chewing away your thoughts with the food placed in front of you. Shoving you hand in your bag, you felt the string on your heart drop as you couldn’t feel a single inch of your water bottle anywhere. You took a look inside and it was gone! Disappeared, no where, at least not in your bag.
“Did you forget something?” Lui’s stuffed squirrel cheeks jiggle as she spoke
“I just…forgot my water bottle-” A sudden thud lifts up your shoulders up in surprise, a simple milk box extended out for you, your third one now. Slowly, inching up your eyes, and to your surprise the shadow looming over you is none other than Shidou Ryusei, again. “Now you have three—unless you secretly drank one or two?” he smirks
“I didn’t” you reply swiftly, “Why are you following me?”
“So bold and straightforward. I like it” He began “What, am I not allowed to?”
“That doesn’t answer my question”
“Dunno, something about you just gets my cells all excited, buzz.” There he goes with that name again; you and Lui exchange a look of mutual disbelief, a questionable form of words which you wouldn’t dear to imagine. What kind of reasoning was that? “Look Shidou I don’t really know what you’re trying to do but-”
“I want to be friends with you” Without hesitation, he tucks his feet under the table and sits in front of you.
“Uh- friends?” Lui shoots you a confused glance.
“Why didn’t you say that from the beginning”
“Well I just said it” his shoulder lumps up as a shrug, “and I’d like if you could call me Ryusei”
“Shidou…”
“Ryusei.”
“Uhm- yes Ryusei… I”
““Yep. Oh, that looks good—can I have some?” He effortlessly shifts the conversation, already eyeing your freshly packed bento of food. “What-” His fingers already made it’s move before you could even answer, not that you knew what to say in the first place; acting as if you two were already friends, “Do you notice anything different?” and he’s so random “No- I don’t think so?” Staring down at his tan features, you couldn’t partially notice anything ‘different’ “Your hair?” You take a guess “That hurts me a lot buzz, I touched up my makeup real well jus’ for you” The pouty lips, droopy eyes eat you away, what a baby
“O-oh your eyeliner yes- it seems more defined. Right Lui?” She kicks your feet, nudging you as payback for bringing her more into this situation “Uh-huh, sure, totally noticed that before he mentioned it.”
“Bingo” Shidou shoots you a wink, and to his fortune you accepted the multiple milk boxes he gifted you. What’s the worth if you never try? You take the milk placed beyond you and poke the straw into the hole, gracefully grazing your soft lips onto the tip and sip. Clearing up the desert dryness in your throat.
Outrageous really, returning after lunch—this was never the situation you thought you would ever be in. At first you thought his presence would annoy you entirely but walking back to class; side by side with him, didn’t really bother you much. Lui had left you two to be alone, excusing herself because she had some work to do with the festival. Hopefully this would be a good chance to talk about what being friends is like with Shidou.
“Shi- Ryusei, why exactly do you want to be friends with me?” Your footsteps are the only two heard while walking down the hall back the class
“You’re pretty cell exploding” (You’re pretty (and) cool)
“Oh, thanks I guess.” Now is your chance! Run away from the inevitable Shidou Ryusei before he keeps you with his claws. Or maybe that's what any other person would think of in this moment, he was quite extraordinary—yes, not weird, but extremely extraordinary in your head. Despite the somewhat weird comments thrown at you.
“Did you even have lunch? I didn’t see you eating much”
“I had a bite of your food,” You tilt your head in confusion; was that all he really ate? “Quite tasty,” he comments, ever so casual and smooth. Little did he know, it may or may have not just made your heart giggle with a wide ear to ear smile, with colorful so butterflies and daisy fresh flowers, exploding in your heart just by the sheer compliment, beside Lui, no has ever complicated your marvelous cooking. But in reality, you kept a rather straight face, and a slight red blush on the tip of your ears, something that Shidou took quick notice of and said nothing but a subtle chuckle.
“I’m…glad you liked it.” Is that really all you can say? Oh you wanted to say more, maybe even offer him an everyday lunch so he’s healthy and full. Wished for a star to grant more than a miracle can strive for.
“Mhm, hey think you can hook me up with some more of your food?” Or maybe you don’t need a wish, or a miracle, maybe you just needed Ryusei.
“You’d want that?”
“Who wouldn’t?”
As you two walk into back to class, your classmates and their spirts as hopeful as this spring festival was a wavering welcome. The class president, who took great notice of your late attendance and immediately opened his mouth to lecture you two. Your ears could bleed any moment, “Shidou, I expected you to be late but not you, Y/n” He extended out the syllabus of your name like a warning ringing in your ear. “Sorry I-”
“Blah, blah, blah. So what?” Shidou cuts in, unbothered as ever. “We’re the ones who’ll be doing most of the work anyway.”
The class president narrows his eyes. “And exactly what work would that be?”
“Uh, the baking, obviously.”
“Ahem… right.” With a sigh, he turns to you instead. “Y/N, could you put together a menu of what you’ll be baking? We have other classmates working on the design and setup.”
“Of course, I can start on it now.”
As you sit down, Shidou follows along like a dog on a leash, sitting in front of you. “wha’cha thinking of making?”
“Lui really liked my red velvet with white chocolate chips cookies, so that’s one. And…a blueberry tart, some cake of course with a hint of my own recipe and design.” You could yap forever about the recipes you made and would love to try. Make the jaws yawn till they couldn’t keep their eyes open anymore. “Do you know how to make cream puffs?” Shidou fiddles with one your pencils, “They’re pretty easy yeah…you like them?” The spinning pencil between his hands stops and he locks eye contacts with you “Would you make them for me pretty please?” He leans in closer to you, nose touching, tickling, shivering against each other. He’s begging for a little more, inching for even a kiss on your soft cheeks but he didn’t want to make you anymore the shy gal you are so he left his intimacy at that. For now.
Despite the sudden closeness, you don’t flinch. His eyes darken, black pupils expanding, dilating, his amorous gaze lingering on your lips before flicking back up. You swear you hear his breath hitch, just slightly.
“And some yukhoe too please, my favorite.” He began to fiddle with your pencil once more, backing away from you—the lead lightly tracing on the surface of his sketchbook
“I suppose if you like it that much but doesn’t it seem a bit…weird for the festival”
“Just make them for me, and me alone”
“Isn’t it…raw?”
“Raw is always better, don’t cha’ think so?”
You sigh at his utter mindset, nonetheless would it ever bother you though. You made a new friend.

જ⁀➴ valentine’s special with Haru Hayate!
fluff, very slight angst, established relationship, slightly suggestive at the end if you squint, x f! reader.
a/n: this was a silly request from my bsf, so I hope she likes it. Also, I felt as if there needed to be MORE haru fics/appreciation. (All the 3 haru fans scream in joy.) But seriously, whoever sees this, enjoy, & feel free to request other characters.
Tumblr media
The atmosphere in the air was thick and tense, almost suffocating. It was the kind which made the hairs on your neck stand up. Haru was standing across from you, a faint frown tugging at his lips as you stood in front of him, arms crossed, and a scowl adorning your features.
You had been holding everything back for weeks—the way he seemed to slip further away from you, always busy with practice, and too wrapped up in his career, leaving you waiting for whatever scraps of time he had left. Of course, you tried to be understanding, but no one likes being put aside and forgotten.
“You’re always so busy Haru.” You said, trying your best to keep your voice steady.
“I understand it’s your career, for gods sakes—it’s your livelihood! but I’m tired of being set aside to sit still and look pretty for you. I’m not asking for everything, I just want you to try and make time for me, please?”
The words stung as you verbalized them, they were like salt in the wound for Haru. The pain in your voice was evident, the hurt was clinging onto your words, despite your best efforts of trying to hide it.
Haru’s gaze fell to the floor. The space between you two grew further, the silence, heavier. He absolutely hated seeing you upset, and even worse, he hated being the cause of it. He knew you were right, he had been neglecting you for soccer, and the reality of it all, crushed him. There was no excuse, no alibi he could give you, just the painful truth that he had been absent, and it had hurt you.
“I’m sorry.” Haru finally muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. His expression softened with guilt, as his shoulders only slumped in defeat.
Haru was never the best with words, especially when it came down to his feelings. But even so, he knew you deserved more than what his lame excuse for an apology could give you. His little gestures of affection wouldn’t be enough this time, he knew that. So he made it his mission to make it up to you, by any means necessary.
“it’s just hard balancing everything…but I’ll try harder. I’ll make more time, just for you. I promise.” He didn’t know what else to say, but he meant what he said. Haru’s heart ached with the disappointment he had for himself.
You swallowed hard, the lump in your throat becoming unbearable. You knew Haru meant what he said, but it didn’t change the reality of the situation. It didn’t change how your bed, which was once fit for two, would only ever be occupied by one, how you would spend your nights eating at a dinner table alone, and how the empty space of it all, began to consume you. You wanted to believe him, you really did, but your frustration still hung in the air.
“That’s all I’m asking for Haru. I don’t want to compete with your career, since I know that’s a fight I’ll lose every time...”
The words left your lips, filled with raw and intense emotion, and it left a sour taste on your tongue. But there was nothing else that said from either of you, just the weight of your words echoing in Haru’s mind. His eyes watched as you walked out of the room, but he knew you needed space, he knew you needed to think, so he didn’t stop you. Instead, he began to think on how he could ever make it up to you. But would his efforts be enough? Could his actions ever fill the growing gap between you two?
In the days that followed, Haru found himself thinking of ways to make it up to you, and he managed to conjure up the perfect plan. Of course, It was all thanks to the small garden he had in the backyard of your home. It had always been his sanctuary, it was his place to unwind after his soccer practices, and now, it had turned into his master plan to win you over.
Haru’s love for gardening and all things botanical, was passed down to him from his grandfather. He would always share his life before the U-20’s and NEL with you. He’d tell you stories about the different kinds of plants he would tend to, his life on the farm, and how if he hadn’t gone down the path of soccer, he’d live his life dedicated to plants. He even once shared with you a dream, that if you both chose to have kids, he would also pass down his love for gardening to them, just like his grandfather did with him. That dream Haru shared with you always warmed your heart, since it gave you insight on the type of man he was.
So everyday, once Haru would get home, he’d greet you with a warm smile, obviously still giving you your space, but making an effort to shower you with as much affection as possible. He’d also find himself in the garden after hours, planting all sorts of surprises for you. His body would ache from practice and his intense stretching workouts, but it didn’t matter to him. The thought of making things right with you, pushed him forwards. He’d work quietly and deliberately, and with every pull of a weed, every stroke of his hand through the soil, his mind would wander back to you. He would think about the words you spoke to him that day, the way you pleaded with him to make an effort, to be present in your life. So he worked harder, not just in the garden but also in your relationship, making sure you finally had a bed fit for two.
Of course, this wasn’t easy for Haru. The demands of his career were constant, his schedule was always tight and unpredictable, not to mention, he hadn’t gotten a good nights sleep in days. But no matter how much his body protested, Haru couldn’t stop, you could say it was his way of rebelling against the things that caused him to stray so far away from you.
But whenever he did find himself at his wits end, he would think back on the times you would sit with him in the garden, your laughter filling the air, and the way you so perfectly complimented his flowers. He appreciated your warmth, your kindness, your patience. How you never asked him for anything expensive or extravagant, just his presence, a shared moment between you two.
And he wanted all of it back, no, he needed it back.
So as Valentine’s Day approached, Haru would finally and officially, apologize to you. He wasn’t the most romantic, not by a long shot, but he knew the things you loved, the things that mattered to you. The flowers he had planted for you with such care, over the past few weeks leading up to this day would finally become a symbol of his love towards you and his commitment to change.
The days continued to fly by, and Haru would continue to carefully select the flowers he knew you’d adore. He even made you a bouquet out of them, simple yet beautiful as ever—just like you. With every delicate petal he’d arrange, he also left meaning and love behind them, and he’d think you every step of the way.
When Valentine’s Day arrived, Haru was more than ready for you. Obviously, he was nervous. He didn’t know how you would react, or if this would be enough of an apology for you, but he knew he had to do it. So discreetly as ever, he went about his day, and you went about yours. ‘Both’ of you had gone to ‘work’, but little did you know, Haru had other plans. Instead, he made his way to the local corner store, and bought all types of decorations for your big surprise. It was simple really, all he did was buy the prettiest rose petals he could find, and heart shaped candles of course. Upon getting home, he immediately got to work, neatly placing them from the front door to the backyard.
He waited for you to get home, his anxiety gnawing at his confidence with every minute that passed. His heart was racing and he tried to calm his nerves, he wasn’t used to this kind of vulnerability, but for you, it was more than worth it. So when Haru heard the jingle of your keys, he quickly took in a deep breath, and without thinking, sprang off the couch. His fingers brushing delicately against the bouquet he had spent weeks crafting with his own hands.
The sound of the door clicking shut echoed throughout the house, and Haru didn’t waste a single second. He carefully grabbed the bouquet and quickly moved to the backyard. The garden was bursting with color, and most of all, the symbol of love Haru had been working so hard on to show you. He paused for a moment, looking around at his creation, and everything was perfect.
You stepped through the front door, a tired sigh escaping your lips as the weight of the day had left you feeling drained. You placed your keys onto the entryway table, before you noticed the scattered petals on the floor. There was a trail of them and candles. It was something so simple yet beautiful. No way Haru did this, he was never the type to do some grand gesture like this. So your curiosity piqued, and you followed the path of the gorgeous trail.
You couldn’t help but smile softly, your gaze lifting to each one of the candles which flickered as they lined the way to your destination.
“Haru?” You whispered, your voice filled with curiosity.
“Where are you?”
You continued to follow the trail through the living room and out the backyard, and at first, you thought you were dreaming when you saw what was in front of you. The backyard had been completely transformed, the beautiful flowers and greenery left you completely speechless. But the best part of it all, was Haru. He was standing right in front of you, with a bouquet of flowers, but not just any flowers, your favorite flowers.
Haru walked towards you, slowly, deliberately, and quietly. Each step closer to you was filled with purpose, as if he was trying to savor each second of the moment. But once he reached you, everything else faded away, he lifted the bouquet out in front of you, and gave you the most sincere gaze.
“I’m sorry for always being so distant towards you.” Haru croaked, his voice was low, but filled with so much emotion for you.
“I know this will hardly make up for it, but I wanted to show you how dedicated I am to you. I never want to make you feel alone, ever again.”
You stood there completely stunned and speechless, as Haru’s words slowly sunk in. Words couldn’t describe how deeply you appreciated everything he had done for you. The sincerity in his eye, the care he had put into everything—it hit you right in the heart.
“Haru… this is more than enough.” You sweetly replied, your heart swelling with love.
Your hands softly reached out towards the beautiful bouquet, taking it out of his hands. Your fingers brushed against his, and it was an innocent, yet electric touch you both had been wanting. Haru’s hand gently cupped your cheek, and he met your eyes with so much warmth and love.
“This is for all the times I didn’t show you my love. I want to make things right, starting now.”
Your heart felt as if it were blossoming, and you stepped closer to Haru, wrapping your arms around him. The garden, the flowers, the emotion it all invoked in you, none of it mattered more than the feeling of standing there with him.
“I love you so much Haru.” You whispered against him, breathing in the sweet scent of his cologne.
Haru’s arms only tightened around you in response, pulling you in closer, as his lips found his way onto yours. It was a slow and tender kiss, but beneath it, was passion and a need for more. The love Haru had kept hidden all along came undone in your shared kiss. It was as if time stopped, and the only thing existing in that moment were his lips on yours. You wrapped your arms tightly around his neck in hopes of getting more out of the kiss. Haru knew you well, and so, he followed your league, his hands slightly trailing lower from your hips, yet pulling you closer.
When you two finally broke away from each other, both of you were breathless, and a small giggle escaped your mouth as Haru leaned his forehead against yours. The moment hung in the air, the flowers Haru worked so hard on planting and taking care of, surrounded you.
And as Haru picked you up into his arms, placing his lips back onto yours—you knew this moment was the beginning of a new Haru Hayate.

I really hope everyone enjoyed! This is my first time ever writing a fanfic on here, so I was really nervous to post this. I’m very new to this (if you can’t already tell), so I can understand if my writing isn’t the best. But i’ll try hard with working on improving.
Once again, thank you all for reading! and till we meet again (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)

—PUPPY LOVE || AO3
ft. Sae Itoshi
summary: rin swears the new girl makes “nii chan’s face light up”. sae smiles more, and spends time with her like it’s no big deal. their parents don’t notice, but rin can tell she makes sae happier, even if it’s a little annoying. wc. 2.2k
a/n: just a cute fic I thought of cause of that one additional time of the itoshi brothers “nii chan’s frame of mind”
right where we left off
Tumblr media
Rin didn’t like her at first, not that he did now.
She showed up at the park one day, just standing there with her ball and staring like she wanted to join their game. She didn’t even ask, just yelled, “Pass it to me!” like she owned the place. Her voice cut through the sound of their cleats against the grass. Rin froze mid-step. No one talked to his big brother like that.
To Rin’s surprise, his brother’s gaze fell on her, and Rin could almost see the gears turning in his head.
Nii chan didn’t yell at her. He didn’t tell her to leave. He tilted his head slightly and nudged the ball her way with his foot. Rin frowned.
That was it. The first domino fell.
She wasn’t even good. She ran weird, her kicks were all over the place, and she tripped more than she scored. Rin thought nii chan would get annoyed, but he didn’t. He actually helped her. He showed her how to dribble and even taught her how to do some of the moves Rin was still practicing. It wasn’t fair!
Then there was the rainy day. Rin was sure they’d stay inside—no one played soccer in the mud, not even nii chan. But when Y/N showed up wearing her rain boots and grinning, nii chan grabbed a ball and followed her outside. Rin had no choice but to tag along. They ended up having the messiest, weirdest game of soccer ever, with Y/N sliding in the mud and nii chan actually laughing when she fell.
But what really annoyed Rin was how nii chan acted around her. His face was different. When Y/N was around, he looked... relaxed. And sometimes, he even smiled. Not his usual smirk when he wins, but a real smile.
It wasn’t like nii chan to be this way. Rin knew his brother better than anyone. Nii chan is the coolest, and he always looks ahead.
But with Y/N, it was like he slowed down just enough to let her catch up.
One time, Rin saw them sitting under the big tree at the park. Y/N was talking a lot, waving her hands around and laughing, and he just sat there, listening. He didn’t even tell her to stop talking, which was weird because Sae hated when people talked too much.
Even at home, she was there sometimes. She’d come for dinner, and always ended up next to Sae. She’d laugh at nii chan’s jokes and he’d give her the last piece of karaage like it was nothing.
Their parents didn’t notice, of course. Mom just said it was nice Sae had a “little fan,”and Dad said it was good for Sae to teach someone else; it would “build character.” Rin wanted to tell them they were wrong, but he didn’t know how to explain it. If only they saw what he did.
It wasn’t just about soccer. Y/N wasn’t like the other kids. She wasn’t scared of nii chan, and she didn’t try to impress him like everyone else. She just... acted like he was normal. And somehow, that made nii chan act normal, too.
Rin didn’t understand it fully, but he could tell Y/N was different. She was the only one who could make nii chan stay longer at the park, the only one who could get him to drop his guard. And as much as Rin hated to admit it, there was something kind of cool about that.
By the end of the summer, Rin still didn’t like how much time they spent with each other.
But even if it was annoying, it wasn’t so bad to see nii chan smile.
Rin is eight now, and Sae is ten, and it was Valentine’s Day—the most annoying day of the year, at least to Rin.
When Sae opened his locker, chocolates and notes spilled out onto the floor. Rin, walking past with his own bag of books, stopped and stared. Even Sae’s friends, who were standing nearby, froze in surprise.
“Whoa! Sae, look at all this!” one of his friends said, picking up a pink heart-shaped box. “You’re like an idol or something.”
Rin looked around the hallway, noticing a group of girls peeking around the corner, giggling as they watched Sae. Rin rolled his eyes.
Sae didn’t seem impressed. He sighed, crouched down, and began scooping up the fallen chocolates. “You guys can take them if you want,” he said calmly. “I don’t really care.”
His friends’ jaws dropped. “Are you serious?” one of them asked, already reaching for a fancy-looking box. Sae shrugged.
“Yeah. Take them. I don’t eat sweets much anyway.”
Rin couldn’t believe it. “Nii-chan, you’re just giving them away?”
Sae gave Rin one of his usual unreadable looks. “What am I supposed to do with them? Keep them all? It’s just chocolate, Rin.”
Rin huffed, muttering under his breath. He might’ve been little, but he knew enough to tell that those chocolates weren’t just “chocolates.” The girls liked nii chan. They liked him liked him.
Later, when they got home, Rin peeked into Sae’s bag to see if he’d kept any of the chocolates. Sure enough, there was one. A small, simple box with a handwritten note tied to it.
“Why’d you keep that one?” Rin asked, pointing at it.
Sae looked up from his homework and shrugged. “She gave it to me in person,” he said. “It’d be rude to give it away.”
Rin squinted at him. Something about the way Sae said it made Rin feel like there was more to the story.
The next day, Rin noticed Y/N sitting on the stairs near the school courtyard, looking sad. She had her hands covering her knees, and her head was bowed. Rin frowned. Usually, she was cheerful and full of energy, but today, she just sat there, not even looking up when people passed by.
Sae noticed too. Rin could tell because instead of heading to class like he normally did, Sae turned and walked straight over to her. Rin followed, curious but pretending he didn’t care.
“What happened?” Sae asked, his voice calm but steady.
Y/N glanced up, her eyes a little watery, and gave a sheepish smile. “Nothing, I’m fine.”
Sae crouched slightly, his gaze dropping to where she was holding her knee. “Doesn’t look fine,” he said.
Rin leaned closer and noticed the scrape on her knee, smeared with a little blood. Her other leg looked bruised, too.
Y/N sighed, looking embarrassed. “I tripped on the stairs earlier. It was so dumb. I wasn’t even running or anything. I just... fell.”
“Can you walk?” Sae asked.
Y/N shifted and winced as she tried to stand. “Not really,” she admitted, sitting back down. “My legs hurt.”
Without a word, Sae turned around and crouched in front of her.
“What are you doing?” Y/N asked, confused.
“Get on,” Sae said simply.
“What?”
“I’ll carry you to the nurse’s office,” he said, glancing over his shoulder. “Hurry up before we’re late.”
Y/N hesitated, looking unsure. “You don’t have to—”
“Just get on,” Sae said again, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Blushing slightly, Y/N carefully climbed onto his back, wrapping her arms loosely around his neck. Rin’s eyes went wide.
“Nii-chan, are you serious?!” Rin asked, sounding both shocked and annoyed.
“Do you see anyone else helping her?” Sae shot back, standing up effortlessly with Y/N on his back.
Rin scowled but didn’t say anything. He followed them as Sae started walking toward the nurse’s office, Y/N leaning her head against his shoulder.
“Thanks, Sae,” Y/N said softly.
“Don’t mention it,” Sae replied, his voice steady.
Rin trailed behind, muttering under his breath. “She’s so dramatic. It’s just a scrape. I fell yesterday, and no one carried me anywhere.”
But as he watched Sae carry Y/N, his brother calm as ever while Y/N’s face slowly brightened, Rin couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.
“Why does Nii-chan always go out of his way for her?” Rin thought, kicking a pebble on the ground.
By the time they got to the nurse’s office, Y/N was smiling again. Rin sighed, knowing that no matter how much it annoyed him, Sae was going to keep looking out for her.
Sae, as usual, looked calm, but Rin caught the faintest smile on his brother’s face.
Later, as they were heading home, Rin couldn’t help but ask, “Nii-chan, do you like her?”
Sae glanced at him, his face unreadable as always. “What do you mean?”
“You kept her chocolate,” Rin pointed out. “And you carried her to the nurse’s office. You don’t do that for anyone else.”
Sae didn’t answer right away. After a moment, he just said, “She’s different.”
Rin was still in elementary school, but Sae and Y/N were now in middle school. Even though they didn’t go to school together anymore, things hadn’t changed too much. Sae still came home every day, and most of the time, he’d be in a good mood. Rin liked it when Nii-chan was like that because it meant he’d play with him, and Sae would even show him new tricks.
But one day, everything felt... different.
Sae came home later than usual, and when Rin saw him walk through the door, he noticed right away that something was wrong. Sae didn’t say much during dinner, and when Rin asked if they could play soccer, Sae just shook his head.
“Maybe later,” he muttered.
Rin frowned. Nii-chan never said no to soccer.
Later that evening, Rin found Sae sitting on the steps outside their house, staring at the ground. Rin hesitated for a moment before walking over and sitting down beside him.
He let out a small sigh, his gaze still fixed on the ground. Finally, he said, “Y/N’s moving abroad.”
Rin blinked, confused. “What? Why?”
“Her dad’s job,” Sae replied. His voice was flat, but Rin could tell he was upset.
Rin tilted his head, trying to process it. “So... she’s leaving? For how long?”
Sae shrugged. “Probably a few years.”
“A few years?!” Rin’s eyes widened. “That’s forever!”
Sae didn’t respond.
Rin thought for a moment, then asked, “Did she tell you today?”
“Yeah.”
“What did you say?”
“I told her I’d miss her,” Sae admitted quietly.
Rin stared at him, stunned. It wasn’t like Nii-chan to say stuff like that. He was usually so calm and serious, never letting his emotions show.
“She said she’d miss me too,” Sae added after a moment.
Rin watched his brother’s face closely. Sae didn’t look like he was about to cry or anything, but there was something about the way he sat that made Rin feel uncomfortable.
“What are you gonna do?” Rin asked.
Sae glanced at him. “What can I do? She’s leaving, Rin. I can’t stop her.”
Rin thought about that for a moment. He didn’t like Y/N as much as Sae did—she was always stealing Sae’s attention, after all—but even Rin couldn’t imagine her not being around anymore.
The next day, Rin decided to follow Sae to the park after school, where he knew Sae and Y/N usually met up. He stayed hidden behind a tree, watching as they sat on their usual bench.
Y/N was holding a small notebook, and she handed it to Sae with a shy smile. “I made this for you,” she said.
Sae opened the notebook, flipping through the pages. It was filled with little doodles, notes, and memories of their time together—funny moments, inside jokes, and even some pictures she’d drawn of their soccer games.
“It’s so you don’t forget me,” Y/N said softly.
“I won’t forget you,” Sae replied, his voice steady but quiet.
They talked for a while, and even though Rin couldn’t hear everything, he could tell it was important. When Y/N finally got up to leave, Sae stood too. They said goodbye, and Y/N walked away, turning back once to wave.
That night, Sae was still quiet, but he seemed a little better. Rin sat next to him again, this time holding their soccer ball.
“She gave you something, huh?” Rin asked, glancing at the notebook on the table.
“Yeah.”
“Are you gonna write back to her?”
“Maybe,” Sae said.
Rin stared at him for a moment before nudging him with the ball. “Wanna play?”
Sae looked at him, and for the first time that day, he gave a small smile. “Yeah. Let’s go.”
Even though Rin still didn’t fully understand everything, he decided not to ask any more questions. If playing soccer could make Nii-chan feel a little better, then that was enough for him.
