MP crisis: BJP MLAs arrive in Bhopal ahead of Assembly session

After staying at a hotel in Gurugram’s Manesar for five days, the BJP MLAs from Madhya Pradesh reached here on a special flight in the wee hours of Monday. The MLAs were taken to a hotel from the airport.

Ahead of the budget session of the state Legislative Assembly scheduled to begin on Monday, the MLAs reached the state capital at around 2 a.m on Monday.

Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava and BJP state President BD Sharma received the MLAs at the Raja Bhoj Airport. Meanwhile, special security arrangements were made at the airport.

कांग्रेस का दामन छोड़कर भारतीय जनता पार्टी में शामिल हुए पूर्व सांसद ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया का आज भोपाल में जोरदार स्वागत होगा है. भारतीय जनता पार्टी के कार्यकर्ताओं ने सिंधिया के स्वागत की काफी तैयारियां की हैं, शहर को पोस्टरों से सजाया गया है. लेकिन भोपाल में लगे इन्हीं पोस्टरों पर स्याही गिरा दी गई है.

गुरुवार को सामने आई तस्वीरों में देखा जा सकता है, भोपाल के पॉलिटेक्निक चौराहे के पास लगे पोस्टरों को फाड़ दिया गया और जहां ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया की तस्वीर लगी है उसपर स्याही फेंक दी.

एयरपोर्ट से बीजेपी कार्यालय तक रोड शो

बता दें कि आज दोपहर करीब तीन बजे ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया भोपाल पहुंचेंगे, यहां एयरपोर्ट से उनका काफिला भारतीय जनता पार्टी के दफ्तर पहुंचेगा. इस दौरान भाजपा के कार्यकर्ता उनका स्वागत करने के लिए मौजूद रहेंगे.

बुधवार को ज्योतिरादित्य ने दिल्ली में बीजेपी अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा की मौजूदगी में पार्टी ज्वाइन की थी. ऐसे में वह बीजेपी में शामिल होने के बाद ��हली बार भोपाल पहुंचेंगे.

बुधवार को मध्य प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और बीजेपी के बड़े नेता शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने भी ज्योतिरादित्य का पार्टी में स्वागत किया. शिवराज ने ट्वीट किया कि स्वागत है महाराज, साथ है शिवराज. जिसके बाद सिंधिया ने भी उनके साथ काम करने की खुशी जताई.

ज्योतिरादित्य के इस्तीफा देने के बाद मध्य प्रदेश में कई स्तर के नेताओं ने कांग्रेस से इस्तीफा दिया और भारतीय जनता पार्टी का दामन थाम लिया. भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया को राज्यसभा भेजने का ऐलान कर दिया और वह शुक्रवार को अपना नामांकन भरेंगे.

कमलनाथ सरकार पर जमकर बरसे सिंधिया

भारतीय जनता पार्टी में शामिल होने के बाद ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने कमलनाथ सरकार पर निशाना साधा. सिंधिया ने कहा कि 2018 में जिन वादों के साथ सरकार बनाई गई थी, उन्हें पूरा नहीं किया गया है. इसी के साथ अब कांग्रेस में नए नेतृत्व को स्वीकारा नहीं जा रहा है.

Madhya Pradesh governor asks Kamal Nath to face floor test Monday

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh governor Lalji Tandon has asked the crisis-hit Kamal Nath government to face a floor test as early as Monday when the assembly starts its new session.

A letter from the governor was sent to the chief minister in this regard around midnight, news agencies reported.

“Under Article 174 and 175(2) of the Constitution, I am empowered to direct that MP Assembly session will begin on March 16 at 11 am with my address. Soon after that the only work to be done is voting on trust vote,”PTI quoted from the letter.

The Congress government in the state is facing a possible collapse after senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia crossed over to the BJP and 22 of the MLAs supporting him rebelled and sent in their resignations.

The governor in his letter noted that he came to know the 22 MLAs had sent in their resignations to the MP Speaker and that he had “seen the coverage” of this in the media.

The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly convenes on March 16 with the governor’s address , and the opposition BJP has been demanding that the government hold a trust vote before transacting any business.

Strength of MP House reduced

Shortly before the governor’s order, Speaker NP Prajapati accepted the resignations of six former ministers who are part of the group of 22 rebel Congress MLAs, thus effectively reducing the strength of the House to 222 and the halfway mark to 112.

The resignations accepted are that of Imarti Devi, Tulsi Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Mahendra Singh Sisodiya, Pradyumn Singh Tomar and Prabhuram Chaudhari. They cannot take part in either the trust vote or in the Rajya Sabha elections to be held this month.

“I had given them time to appear in person on Friday and Saturday after their resignations arrived. But they did not turn up on both days. Their behaviour, aired by electronic media, is unbecoming of legislators,” Speaker Prajapati told reporters.

Before the rebellion by 22 MLAs, the tally of the ruling side was 120 – with Congress accounting for 114 MLAs , BSP two, SP one and Independents four.

If the resignations of the remaining 16 MLAs are accepted, the strength of the Congress will be reduced to 92, while the BJP has 107 MLAs. Two seats are vacant in the 230-member Assembly.

Congress wants rebels “released”

The Congress has, meanwhile, issued a whip to all its MLAs asking them to be present in the house from March 16 to April 13 during the Assembly session and vote in favour of the government.

Nineteen of the rebel MLAs are presently at a resort in the outskirts of Bengaluru in BJP-ruled Karnataka, with the Congress alleging they were being held “captive”.

More for the optics apparently, CM Nath wrote to Amit Shah to use his powers as union home minister to ensure the “release “of the Congress legislators.

The future of his government hinges on how many of the rebel MLAs would eventually come around, with reports saying the Congress was taking heart in the “reluctance” of some of them to leave the party and join the BJP.

Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma lodges complaint over manhandling

Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma lodged a complaint with Gautam Nagar police alleging manhandling and misbehaving by BJP booth workers in Gautam Nagar area during Lok Sabha election voting in the State Capital on Sunday.

SHO MK Mishra said that the polling agent was not having identity proof, authority letter due to which he was not allowed and same was conveyed to ADM who later resolved the issue on his arrival.

The issue was reported at polling booth number 204-205 at Sahara Education Society. Mishra denied of any complaint by Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma.

After the incident Alok Sharma along with supporters reached Gautam Nagar police station and supporters created ruckus demanding action against local Congress leaders and supporters who threatened and removed BJP supporters and locals leaders from the area.

The claims by police are different from video of Alok Sharma in which he was found alleging forced removal of BJP agents and supports by brother of MLA Arif Aqeel, Amir Aqeel.

Sharma claimed that the handbook for polling agent has been provided by District Collector Sudam Khade and during a meeting it was discussed that BJP do not have polling agent at few booths on which according to the manual District Collector Khade told that nearby polling booth agent could work at those booths and accordingly polling agent was working but after an hour Amir Aqeel arrived abused and removed forcefully around four polling agents from Arif Nagar area.

He demanded that district collector should take action against goons and hooligans.

The numbers, however, are reported to be in Kovind's favour. The NDA has 537,683 votes, including the Shiv Sena, and the shortage is about 12,000 votes.

Scindia arrives in Bhopal, gets grand welcome by BJP

BHOPAL: A day after joining the BJP in Delhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia arrived at the party’s Madhya Pradesh headquarters here on Thursday to a grand welcome by saffron party leaders, including former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and amid bursting of crackers.

After reaching the BJP office – Deendayal Parisar – in posh Arera Colony, in a rally from the airport, Scindia garlanded the busts of his grandmother Vijayaraje Scindia, one of the founders of the BJP, Hindutva icon Deendayal Upadhyay and former party president Kushabhau Thakre.

He also paid floral tributes to his father Madhavrao Scindia, a Congress stalwart whose portrait was also put up in the BJP office premises.

Chouhan and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.

A large number of women draped in saffron sarees lined up in the sprawling office complex with flowers to welcome Scindia, who joined the BJP on Wednesday in Delhi, a day after quitting the Congress.

The 49-year-old former Union minister arrived at the jam-packed BJP office amid bursting of crackers and loud beating of drums. BJP workers repeatedly raised the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.

A stage adorned with saffron flags was set up at the BJP office to welcome Scindia.

Those who greeted Scindia at the airport and later at Deendayal Parisar included state BJP president V D Sharma, Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava, former ministers Rampal Singh, Bhupendra Singh and Narottam Mishra.

Scindias paternal aunt, BJP MLA Yashodhara Raje Scindia, who was also present at the airport, welcomed her nephew at the state BJP office.

Scindia arrived at the airport on Thursday afternoon to a rousing welcome by BJP workers.

A large number of his supporters and BJP workers welcomed him at the airport with the saffron partys flags.

Local BJP activists and leaders rushed to greet the former Lok Sabha MP from Guna as soon as he stepped out of the aerodrome.

Scindia landed at the airport along with Union minister and BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar in a special aircraft.

Hoardings and BJP flags were put up by Scindia’s supporters and BJP leaders along the 15-km route of his rally from the airport to the state BJP headquarters.

Meanwhile, hours before his arrival, posters bearing Scindia’s pictures were found blackened in parts of Bhopal, party sources said.

Scindia will file his nomination papers for the March 26 Rajya Sabha polls on Friday, a party spokesperson said.
