TOMMY’S hand gripping the pen across his paperwork made a zig-zag motion. The high note you belted out almost made him jump out of his chair, startled, therefore messing up the sentence he was writing. Either the walls that separated the office and the room you were present in shrunk a thinner layer, or you were trying to damage your vocal chords with your singing that sounded like a dying animal.

It echoed its way down the empty foyer, and Tommy cringed. He didn’t have the heart to tell you, but your horrid singing was so inexplicable that the average man wouldn’t bear another minute, Tommy can testify on that. He can speak for anyone who has heard you burst out into a song: you were tone deaf.

He massaged the bridge of his nose as Michael Gray entered while looking behind him down the hallway, hearing the God-awful sound echoing from the next room.

“Jesus Christ,” Michael shuddered. “Is someone getting their organs ripped out in there?”

“Sounds like it,” Tommy said, leaning back in his chair. “But no, that’s just y/n singing their heart out.”
