National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET): A Comprehensive Overview
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is one of the most crucial entrance exams for students aspiring to pursue a career in medicine in India. It is the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical courses, such as MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery), BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery), and BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery). NEET is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and it plays a pivotal role in determining the future of medical aspirants in India.
Importance of NEET UG:
NEET is the sole entrance exam for the majority of medical colleges in India, including both government and private institutions. This standardized examination ensures that students from all over the country are evaluated on an equal footing, with a common syllabus and standardized assessment. NEET is accepted by:
All medical colleges in India (except AIIMS and JIPMER, which have separate exams but now conduct NEET for admission).
Medical colleges abroad (in countries like Russia, China, and Ukraine).
Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, and other health science courses.
Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG:
To appear for NEET UG, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria. These include:
Age Limit:
The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete it by December 31st of the year of admission.
The upper age limit is 25 years for general category candidates and 30 years for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC).
Educational Qualifications:

Nationality:
Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear for NEET.
NEET Exam Pattern:
The NEET exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is divided into three sections:
Physics: 45 questions
Chemistry: 45 questions
Biology: 90 questions (Botany & Zoology)
The exam is conducted in pen and paper mode (offline) and spans 3 hours. Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, while each incorrect answer leads to a negative marking of 1 mark. The total score of the exam is 720 marks, and the exam is conducted in various languages, including English, Hindi, and regional languages like Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, etc.
NEET Syllabus:
The syllabus for NEET is vast and covers topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) based on the NCERT curriculum for classes 11 and 12. The syllabus is divided into the following key areas:
1. Physics:
Mechanics
Thermodynamics
Optics

Inorganic Chemistry (Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds, etc.)
Organic Chemistry (Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules, Polymers, etc.)
3. Biology:

Zoology: Human Physiology, Human Reproduction, Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Environment
NEET Preparation Tips:
Preparing for NEET requires focused effort and a strategic approach. Here are some essential tips that can help aspirants succeed:
1. Understand the Syllabus and Exam Pattern:
The first step in preparation is to familiarize yourself with the NEET syllabus and exam pattern. It will give you clarity on the topics you need to focus on and help you plan your study schedule efficiently.
2. Create a Study Plan:
A well-structured timetable can keep your preparation on track. Divide your time between Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, giving more time to challenging subjects.
3. NCERT Books Are Key:
NEET’s syllabus is largely based on NCERT textbooks, so make sure to study them thoroughly. Concepts from these books form the foundation of your preparation.
4. Solve Previous Year Papers and Take Mock Tests:
Practicing previous years' question papers and taking mock tests is crucial to understanding the exam's format, improving time management skills, and building confidence.
5. Focus on Conceptual Clarity:
NEET is not about rote learning; instead, understanding concepts is vital. Focus on grasping the fundamental concepts of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
6. Use Reference Books Wisely:
While NCERT is the primary source, reference books like H.C. Verma for Physics, O.P. Tandon for Chemistry, and Truemans Biology for Biology can enhance your understanding of complex topics.
7. Regular Revision:
Revision is crucial for NEET preparation. Regularly revising concepts ensures that you retain the information and stay ahead of the curve.
8. Stay Healthy and Manage Stress:
The journey to NEET can be stressful, but it’s important to take care of your mental and physical health. Regular breaks, exercise, and a healthy diet will help maintain focus.
NEET Application Process:
The NEET registration process is entirely online and consists of the following steps:
Registration: Candidates need to register on the official NEET website and create an account.
Application Form: Fill out the application form with personal details, educational qualifications, and contact information.
Upload Documents: Applicants are required to upload their photographs, signature, and other relevant documents in the prescribed format.
Payment of Fee: The application fee must be paid through online modes (debit/credit card, net banking). The fee varies based on the candidate's category.
Submission: After filling out the application form and paying the fee, submit the form.
NEET Admit Card and Exam Day:
After successful submission, candidates can download their NEET admit card from the official website. It contains important details like the exam center, date, and instructions.
On the day of the exam, candidates must bring the admit card, along with a valid ID proof (Aadhaar card, passport, etc.), to the exam center.
The exam is conducted in multiple shifts, and candidates are allotted a specific center based on their registration details.
NEET Results and Counseling:
After the exam, the NTA releases the NEET answer key and then the results. The NEET result includes the candidate's total score, percentile, and rank. Based on the NEET score and rank, candidates are eligible for counseling.
The NEET counseling process is conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) for all India quota seats and by individual state authorities for state quota seats. During counseling, candidates choose their preferred medical or dental college, and seats are allotted based on their rank, preferences, and available vacancies.
Cut-Offs and Seat Allocation:
The cut-off is the minimum qualifying mark that a candidate must obtain to be eligible for counseling. The cut-off varies each year based on several factors such as:
The difficulty level of the exam
The number of candidates appearing
The number of available seats
Once the results are declared, candidates who meet the cut-off can participate in the counseling process. The seats are allocated based on the candidate’s merit, rank, and preferences.
NEET Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
Q1: How many attempts are allowed for NEET?
There is no fixed limit on the number of attempts, as long as the candidate meets the eligibility criteria, including age and educational qualifications.
Q2: Is NEET necessary for all medical courses?

Q3: Can I appear for NEET if I am in Class 12?

Q4: How is NEET ranked?

Conclusion:
NEET UG is a highly competitive exam that requires dedicated preparation, understanding of core concepts, and consistent practice. It provides a fair and transparent process for selecting students into undergraduate medical courses, ensuring a level playing field for all aspiring medical professionals. The journey to cracking NEET can be challenging, but with the right approach, strategy, and commitment, students can achieve their goal of becoming a doctor and contributing to society's healthcare needs.

I believe the main reason ranboo is getting criticism is because some black fans of his feel a little upset that he celebrates and helps lgbt causes but is silent in helping or talking about people of color like in bhm. Ranboo himself said that he understands that and doesn’t really want hate spread around because it is a valid thing to be disappointed about
i think bein like 'i wish he'd talk bout this more' like. shit makes sense. but jus cuz ranboo is a white dude w a huge followin doesnt mean he needs to act as a spokesperson and vessel for all social movements. like showin support for one organization isnt equal to an absence of support for another organization/movement
like. if any time some big mfer donated to and acknowledged One movement, then people were like 'oh so youre not going to talk about this Other Movement?' then we'd jus go in circles forever. because no matter what there will always be other groups that will need support and to be uplifted. but one guy that jus wants to play video games shouldnt be pushed into bein an activist in general
#anon#discourse#twitter beef#kinda??#also. like. its jus such a weird thought to me#maybe he coulda donated to black ppl durin bhm. but that month will come around again#and also. are ppl who manage and coordinate specific movements now in the wrong for not also takin part in Other Movements?#like. specifically focusin on one or some groups doesnt indicate theyre ignorin other groups

My school's clubs are all run through the student ASB, including the GSA. So we have president, vp, treasurer, secretary, and PR (usually social media manager, occasionally community coordinator), but that's the same as other clubs. We (as the club officers, I'm one) treat GSA mostly as a hangout place with snacks and support but every other week we have a presentation on a piece of queer media or queer history. During BHM we had weekly ones on black queer history, and there are other events too
That sounds really cool! It sounds like your GSA functions as a community/social hub and a place to learn about being queer in the world, which is really interesting! Those are definitely both things I want to try to incorporate into our GSA in some form, so thank you!!
